This is more like it from the FZ estate, real value for money set celebrating Frank's opuses Waka Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo, with lots of George Duke goodness added!
nice to see you back and lookin good Davy! the jackie chan spot gave me a well and true belly laff. thanx! Zappa is probably my # 1 musical indulgence so this was sweet for me. merry everything to you and on to 700 subs! take care brother!
Hope you’re feeling better Davy, Frank Zappa has been a part of my life for many years and I do claim to have all his releases on vinyl until 93 when he passed. (Many CD’s as well, and after). I’m very pleased to see you posting content, all the best.
Really enjoyed the live stuff and the alternate mixes are very interesting to listen to. Currently enjoying the set on spotify although that doesn't have the Blu Ray content. The joy of having the physical product aside, would you recommend a purchase for the stereo (not 5.1 or Atmos) mixes of the original albums? Do the stereo mixes on the Blu Ray sound much different to the already released CDs? The liner notes make the case for the Blu Ray difference but I'm interested in if you found that there was much of a discernible difference when listening yourself. Thanks for another great review.
Thanks my man! I always add the caveat that I hear a difference BUT I have a pretty decent set up that I saved up for. Whether or not it's too noticable on a more budget system, I couldn't say but I did a side by side and yeah - it's more spacious, more separation. Essentially, bluray can hold more information than a CD, so it's like a 4K Vs a Bluray Vs a DVD - you're going to hear more regardless. Whether it's enough to make it a deal breaker? Up to the individual but here, the two albums sound fantastic.
@@DavysFlicks Awesome! Thanks for going into detail on the side by side comparison 🙏 I agree that’s it’s so refreshing to have this material for such a great price. I wish the Hot Rats set didn’t have the board game etc or there was a more compact affordable version.
LUV' that wonderful wall of movies & cds/dvds behind you!! Must have taken you years to collect and spend the parental units $$$$!! You're still ADORABLE!! Merry Xmas & Happy New Year Davey!! REMEMBER......."DON'T EAT THE YELLOW SNOW"!!!!!!! (-:
Well, if you look at the early vids, I did sit in front of albums, movies etc. What happened? "Can you review this?" "When will you review that?" So I went lo-fi! All I want people focused on? Zzzzzappa! ;) And merry year to you too!
Don't make me want it Davey, even though I am currently wearing the same shirt. Actually, I already want it, but I'm fighting against temptation....I haven't got the Roxy box yet........I fear I might give in....
I would say this era getting love makes it just a bit more special but you can't go wrong. I will not understand how they decide "OK, this is a 5 discer...£50. This is a 6 discer...£150".
Awesome review buddy, great channel great content, always enjoy your reviews & I wish you a Merry Christmas.

Thanks John! I was originally gonna review The Tuxedo with Jackie and throw Frank Zappa over my shoulder, just as well I didn't!

Thanks Trev. It's a terrific release for me as Waka is Top 5 Zappa in my books!

More to come Sammy!

That funko looks more like Capt Beefheart than Uncle Frank to be honest.
I didn’t know he was attacked on stage in London what’s the story ?
Pretty nuts story ultimateclassicrock.com/41-years-ago-frank-zappa-pushed-off-stage-in-london/
Thanks for that Davy
The music from the Erie box is great but I NEVER wanted to buy it. It seemed way overpriced and too large
