I'm a big fan of both these movies, especially Blood on Satan's Claw. I also did the double-header and watched both back to back last night. My view might be contrarian, but I found the 4K remastering of both of these films too heavy-handed, especially when it comes to sharpening, over-saturation and the pulling up of the shadows, which to my eye, made these transfers less analog film-like. I would have much prefered it if their goal was to recreate as accurately as possible the original film, rather than trying to "improve it". For me, the ideal transfer should always result in a disc that most faithfully reproduces what was seen in the cinema during the films premier, rather than trying to "improve" the film through digital editing. This kind of faithfull mastering might result in less immediate pop and wow-factor, but would be more satisfying in the long run.

As a fan of the anthology series Inside No. 9, my second favourite episode of that show is "Mr. King", and when I gushed about how much I loved it on the Inside No. 9 Reddit upon a rewatch, one of the Redditors actually recommended me The Blood on Satan's Claw citing it as another influence on the story (the other, more obvious one being The Wicker Man). In fact, Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith even once did a commentary for it on an earlier release, and the former even starred in an Audible dramatization of it.
So you know that when I buy The Wicker Man, I'll also buy Blood on Satan's Claw.

Yes, I mentioned the commentary on the vid as sadly not being ported over as it's terrific. The League also did one for Theatre Of Blood with Vincent Price for Arrow.
MASSIVE fan of Inside No. 9 - my fave would be The 12 Days Of Christine.

@@DavysFlicks If you're wondering what my primary favourite is, it's easily "The Riddle of the Sphinx". One of the most gripping stories I've ever seen committed to anthology TV.

A great triple bill suggestion. Blood On Satan's Claw, Witchfinder General, and Twins of Evil. Price and Cushing at the top of their game.

A double whammy and well worth spending time watching. I've said it before, so I'll say it again - 4K-ing brilliant. I really like Witchfinder General and absolutely love Blood on Satan's Claw. Excellent films, excellent reviews. Hope you're doing well, sir!

@naparry4772 - Simon has now ditched the DU too - he said another "fuck Timeless and admins doing naff all" too many. When I check the place for the first time in ages? First...hardly any posts in 24 hours..but a few "He didn't leave because of anything on here.." back pats- I'd direct anyone thinking so to his post on my Neil Young review last week "BTW i quit the Divergent Forum had arguments with Times Im Not JHD Child he up to his tricks trying twist my comments so told him to f..k off."!
So...another Timeless Child ;) wonder what he has on the admins...well, Ela and Elka. Aussie doesn't have his own thoughts!

@@DavysFlicks - everyone who quits that place does so after an altercation with JHD - everyone - and yet the dear old multi-account goblin remains with, it seems, not a blemish. Any argument that erupts on there is met with admin intervention defending him. It's fascinatingly grotesque - what does he have over them?
A poster called Andy, who used to frequent the old BF forum, joined DU. Like me, he's a fan of the Dark Shadows audios. When he (and I, as it happens) were asking a Big Finish writer why there is no news on the range after all this time, the admins jumped in, gave us a little bollocking for being impolite to him, and accused Andy and me of a 'pile-on'. Quite unreasonable. Andy (I don't know if you're familiar with him?) questioned why our situation gets jumped on, and yet JHD is allowed to do and say exactly as he likes *a lot* more rudely, and there's never an admin in sight!
Unsurprisingly, after a month, Andy has joined the league of those who have quit the place ... and events rumble on.

Yes. It's far and away my favourite of the two, which isn't to besmirch Witchfinder but Satan's Claw is a real genre changer. It just took decades for it to really do so!
