    I began my guitar journey in 2020, after high school. Was on and off, mostly off, until this year when I was asked to perform “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” for the summer camp that I work for , when I unfortunately said that I could “play” the guitar. Nearly 2 months later and I have fallen back in love with the guitar. I purchased a cheap acoustic-electric Ibanez, and stumbling upon your videos have been a godsend. Maybe I was a bit naive and immature in my previous endeavors with this instrument, but you have shown me that I can grow naturally and efficiently. I can confidently say that you have made me a better player. I have watched every single one of your videos and I can’t wait for more. I will also be purchasing the PRS you recommended in your other videos to get that electric sound. P.S. We need to see your dad’s progress, it’s been a minute and I hope you and him are in good health so that you both can enjoy jamming together for many years to come. Much love from Miami ❤

    Only thing id say this video is missing is to start learning some basic chord progressions. This lets you actaully start using all this information and you can use your ear to start understanding the qualities of certain chord progressions and why they work, for example learning that the 5 chord resolves very satisfyingly back to the 1 chord.

    Great content! You have a gift for breaking down theory into chunks that are easily understandable.

  • @jakyru1981
    @jakyru1981 Před 13 dny

    When you are talking about triads, the triad constructed from the seventh degree of the major scale is a fully diminished triad, it is not half diminished as you state. In your example key of G Major this would be F# A C which is F diminished or Fdim or F (degree symbol) or R b3 b5. The half diminished you mention is from the seventh chord formed from the seventh degree of the major scale aka half diminished seventh (minor 7 b 5) which would be F#m7b5 = F# A C E or R b3 b5 b7. The fully diminished would be Fdim7 = F A C Eb or r b3 b5 bb7 (double flat 7th). This is a common error and I think it stems from 2 issues. First, the seventh degree and seventh chords are often confused. Second, the chord built from the seventh degree is often used as a seventh chord instead of its triad form and is not only a "jazz chord". Its a chromatic passing chord in many pop song (Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks intro).
    Nice video as a very basic intro!

    i picked up the guitar again last year in may and now im doing gigs with my drummer (oldest friend) we are 23 and 24 and we make eachother better and have good chemistry our playing gets better the more we play live and rehearse together. But by no means do i consider myself a “good guitar player” i can improvise well with my drummer and we put out alot of noise for a three piece . I just cant ever play enough where i want to be now is just a matter of more time years till my speed is where i would like it to be😂. Kevin REALLY, thank you,

Also is it really incorrect to groove on the back of the beat ..? Or like how Willie Nelson phrases on the front of the beat ..?
    It's cool you are compelled to educate .. A serious rhythm video would be cool for a bunch of folks .. What are dance beats, 16th note feel, how to count odd meter grooving etc ..
