Got my CD box set today, it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard this album too, I only know his singles and the Purple Rain and Batman albums
So glad I bought the CD set today. Similar to Versace they only had the one copy in stock. I fooled myself that I wasn't being ripped off by using some vouchers. Haven't opened it up yet. With the price it's at I'll need some surgical gloves & a scalpel to keep it in pristine condition. This has been one of my top 5,000 videos of all time.
Great unboxing! The separate envelope & pocket for the DVD is PERFECT and should've been done for all the discs in 'Sign o The Times' Super Deluxe, which only have pockets for the CDs/DVD
It's really not his fault. Those discs are packed in the individual sleeves VERY tightly. I ended up downloading the release, and will keep the physical discs for posterity. The packaging is beautiful, just like the Purple Rain expanded release. But shame on the packers. People keep forgetting CDs aren't indestructible.
Great looking set. Have had two copies delivered via Amazon UK so far, both damaged. Will now buy it elsewhere. No idea why Amazon can't work out that a white jiffy bag offers zero protection in the mail on an item like this. Regardless, looking forward to listening to this very soon. Thanks for the video.
So much of my box sets from Amazon get crushed on one corner etc, I get sick of it. I return it it could be worse again so I usually just keep it. They're so much cheaper than local here but so often they get damaged. It's a damn shame why they can't box them.
I'm realizing my copy of the 1999 SDE, on the Vault Tracks 1 has a printing error, of a red "VAULT TRACKS I" over the tape label towards the top, slightly off center...is this just on US copies? I see it on some scans on Discogs, but not on the unboxing video...
I'd rather just have a bunch of songs from 'The Vault' that we haven't heard yet, to be honest, rather than lots of remixes, promos, 7" edits of songs o already have mixed in..
The Silver looks great but being a bit OCD I hope it's well packaged in its own box if buying online as the slightest mark or dent on that silver box is going to stand out like a sore thumb can see these getting scuffed/damaged easily in stores like HMV don't know whether to go for CD or Vinyl box or maybe get the CD box & the double purple vinyl
Michael Sloanes I’m honestly not too happy with the box and packaging quality. Mine came in a regular padded Manila’s envelope via Amazon. I’m probably lucky it wasn’t damaged. The sleeves feel almost too small. The disc are tough to remove and put back. I would have preferred the packaging quality to be better. The Content is phenomenal of course. This box will be stored very carefully.
@@jennilinnbeautifulstrange8044 Hi glad you received an undamaged box I agree sending in s padded envelope is ridiculous glad I didn't order from Amazon. I bought mine in-store from HMV though it has that security tape/tag they use wrapped around it I'm leaving as it is, It is staying in the shrink-wrap with sticker intact I will carefully open & slide out the inner box to keep as pristine as possible. Me and my OCD 😉
@@michaelsloanes8503 Very wise, Michael. I'm OCD as well. All it takes is some Scotch tape (the "Magic Disappearing" version in the green box) over the top and bottom right corner of the opening. Then I carefully slice the side open. This way the shrink wrap stays attached, yet you can access the media.
That does not make sense that the Prince And The Revolution's Album/CD Super Deluxe Edition will not be available in stores for people to buy! More albums means more purchases made by music fans/collectors of albums!
I really dislike this packaging with the cheap, cardboard CD sleeves. The only way to get the disc out, as demonstrated by Paul, is to pull firmly with your fingers all over the surface of the disc and I'm sure, as time goes on, the disc is going to be covered with scratches and marks. Why can't the discs have the added protection of a soft inner sleeve giving the fingers something to grab onto and facilitating easy removal and protection for the disc from fingers and scratches?
I don't mind the mini-LP style of packaging for a box set such as this (my problem is more them being used in place of a jewel case for standalone releases of other albums), but I _am_ surprised that WMG decided not to include protective rice paper sleeves for the CDs here despite having already taken that extra step with the David Bowie boxes.
The Prince Estate and Michael Howe are cowards for omitting two songs that should be included. They're insulting the fans by thinking they're protecting us from hearing words.
This is how retail works: the stores order what they need from a distributor or rackjobber. WB doesn't weigh into their purchasing decisions. If they DID, these discount stores would all have it displayed on an 'end cap'. This is a great release, and if you can't afford it, there is the 2-disc version available.
Ummm......Didn’t Prince have a long battle with this record company to gain the rights to his own music?? Now they’re repackaging his music and selling it again?? Just saying
Seriously, its like watching a review by my dad. And stop yanking on the disks. No way would I let you touch my stuff. Try and sound happy on your next review
Dude, the way you (man)handle all that precious material in those boxes makes my skin crawl
Hahaha, dude got this for free and another copy is just an email away so....those are the perks, also makes you less aware of the value i guess
pro trick: you can watch movies at flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies these days.
@Harry Adriel yea, been using Flixzone} for years myself :)
Ny heart is bleeding to see the way you handle the cds.
Awesome look -- as usual, Paul. Thanks!

I have this. Did my own unboxing. Can go to it anytime but yet i am on youtube watching yours. Lol.
This looks good and I wish I could afford it. I'm slumming it with the 2CD. I winced when you yanked that first disc out of the packaging.

From a marketing standpoint your idea won't sell records. Just sayin'. Buy the box, burn what you want, and flip it on eBay.

I cant find it NOWHERE locally at Target nor Walmart.

he DID have big conflicts with WB, but that was then and this is now. WB is the obvious choice to curate his material now that Mr. Nelson has passed.
if youre doing an unboxing, please stop shaking the material so people can see?
The way you take the cd's out, makes me cringe. Fingerprints and light scratches. SMH!
I can't stand Prince but this is a really nice package, they look amazing. Wish Kate was done with this much respect.
