I was wondering why there wasn't a Purple Rain super deluxe, just a normal deluxe version. Because loads of great songs i have heard from the PR sessions were not included on that version. Great if they come out with a bigger release, even if there are already so many released versions of PR.
Totally agree, if it was a george michael reissue you would have no unreleased material, no live concerts, no demo songs absolutely nothing, well done to prince's estate,, fair dos there releasing everything from his vault..as opposed to it sitting gathering dust in the vault.
I would have been nice if the live CDs were a different concert than the Bluray. Like they did with 1999 & SOTT. & an extra disc with all the remixes & variations on a theme of Gett Off & Cream. This set has one less CD than the SOTT super deluxe but costs $40AUD more.

Has anyone heard anything about the Lovesexy Live Dortmund '88 Pro-shot being released officially in a 2CD/BD configuration, similar to the Live in Syracuse 1985 set released in 2022? The Dortmund '88 pro-shot is a legendary Prince bootleg. I would love to see a cleaned-up official release this decade...
If they don’t remaster the Detroit ‘86 show for inclusion with the SDE of Parade, that would be downright criminal, as it’s the best filmed document of him performing live I feel. So excited about SDE’s of “Parade”, “Around the World in a Day” and “Lovesexy” though. I remain hopeful all the footage Al Magnoli filmed during the Lovesexy tour and Steve Purcell’s extensive “Nude Tour” footage will be lavished with the attention they both deserve and finally be realised too. For me, the only negative of the “Diamonds & Pearls” SDE are the upscaled “remastered” versions of the promo videos which feel lazy, like they’ve just been put thru an “Ai” program. They’re so boxy to the point of absolute distraction. Really awful - I’ve seen fan remasters of those videos better than that. So that was a shame, but all things considered, it’s a small gripe amongst a veritable embarrassment of riches.

I just have to say this is how you release a classic album for the fans look at all the unreleased materials you have on offer here. If your a fan of prince and this album your in for a treat here, and not forgetting the vinyl boxset on offer. Also To George Michaels record company Sony UK, and his estate, This is how you release a collectors edition to the fans , you get nothing like this with Georges album reissues nothing!! Please take note, for prince's fans, this a wonderful release wow !! 💿👌👌
Just bought this. Can't wait for Super Deluxe Editions of Controversy, Around The World...,Parade & Lovesexy. Wouldn't even mind a Super Deluxe of Rainbow Children if that ever comes to pass.
You're damn right too - NO ONE likes it when they shove the CD's straight into the box slots!! I'm not entirely convinced many will notice the difference in the original album remastering though - even though it's very cool they brought Bernie Grundman back to remaster it, but Prince was by then recording digitally in the first place, so I'm unsure where the benefit in any remaster will be. 🤷🏻♂🤷🏻♂

I received my box set on 10/27/23. My Bluray disk will not play at all. I have tried it in three different players, and it just won't load and play. Does anyone else have this problem?
It's annoying that you can only get the vault tracks with this edition. They should have released a cheaper version that was just a jewel case with just the remastered album and the extra vault tracks, that would have been perfect for me. I'm not overly fussed about the book or Blu Ray or live performance CDs.
I love Prince, but I am curious to how this package will do and curious as what exactly they were smoking releasing a 90's box set before Parade and Around the World in A Day. Sure as 90's albums go, it sold okay, but that was because the fan base was still expecting 80's greatness and the reality hadn't yet set in.. But by 95 I about lost all hope. his work kept getting cheesier and more predictable as the decade went on.
This was supposed to be released in 2021 for the 30th anniversary but got pushed back when the estate was about to change management. Diamonds & Pearls is his second biggest selling album. The CD version of the super deluxe edition has sold out on pre orders already on Australia's biggest music retailer's website.

They’ve chosen to put Blu-ray in the back of the book because there’s also a vinyl-boxset version with the same book and Blu-ray disc.
Prince have it the best Estate ever. Love all things from this Estate. ALL.

No ‘Player’….ouch. The 90s was a prolific epoch for Prince so this is likely barely a glimpse of his output from then.
Forgot ALL about that one. DEF’ly would’ve appreciated a mixed, mastered version. Could it have been a Love Symbol album-era cut?
