I love how they keep saying the game looks "dated". A game from a "by gone era", or as one person said that it looked like a game from 2002. And my response is "You mean back when games were good?".

You can't generalize it like that. A lot of the guys from German gaming magazines love it. But you know by watching them talk about games, that they are gamers and love what they're doing. Some of them also have "Let's Play" channels on YT or Twitch. Not all journos are bad. If they're also gamers and it shows, you can trust them when they tell you that something is good or at least that they'll tell you when a game is only for some kinds of gamers. The trick is to find one or two, who like the same kind of games, you like. That way, most things they recommend are worth to take a look at.

Not to burst your bubble but some of these reviews are pretty tame compared to other things that have been written. And its not necessarily a bad thing that they bring things like her sexual appeal up to the readers attention. Sure the writer might not be enthused by any stretch but they don't seem overly unhappy with the game either. To me some of them appear to be honest and humble. That isn't to say that they didn't write anything cringe worthy, So yeah there is some cringe in the reviews. Could be much worse.
The primary age of most gamers has actually moved up. It's up to 32 in the early 2020s compared to 30 in the late 2010s.

To be fair, people have been given less and less time to play video games which would potentially explain such a discrepancy being true. And to be frank, that lack of time to play video games bodes rather ill for the industry at large. Because the games market hasn't been expanding very much. Poverty is becoming a real business threat. I can only pray that we don't end up in the same situation that gamers did in the 80s, those were dark times that they barely got past. Nintendo is generally viewed as being the saving grace that stopped things from collapsing across the board, which I would like to point out that, a lot of the industry did fall into shambles.
They've been saying it for years at this point. How dare you make something for the fans, how dare you make something for the target audience, how dare you make something for customers, etc.

But not every single one of them is like that. The majority rightfully deserve to be criticized. But the depth of criticism should be tempered by the lengths of their actions, as well as their willingness or unwillingness to reflect on their disdain, as opposed to unilaterally treating them all as if they are no better or no worse then one another. A lot of them are awfully spiteful. But the problem is that they wield influence with said spite. Things wouldn't have to be this heated if there were a larger quantity of high quality games available to every one's interests. Its not the same since conservatives back then thought that videogames where exclusively played by children. They thought that ME was marketing sex scenes to children. They ignored the 18+ rating. Whenever I showed a conservative the 18+ on the casing they often fell silent and being 'wait, adults play videogames'. They are trying to use the nude Aphrodite character to pull people away from stellar blade and jump on hades 2 bandwagon because they can use it to their advantage. Gotta love the hit pieces on Stellar Blade. "Eve has an unrealistic body!" Shift Up shows the real-life Korean model that is used for Eve Body in response. "Stellar Blade was made for the male gaze!" Shift Up responds by showing the female artists and devs involved, including the heads wife who worked on Stellar Blade.
Now we have "Stellar Blade" is a teenage boy's idea of the perfect video game." When Stellar Blade was made by a company of adults with the head being married and his wife drawing the art, the game is rated Mature and in many countries is not possible for young teens to legally purchase, the average age demographic for these types of games or usually 20-30s of age as well. These games "journalists" are throwing tantrums and not even hidden propaganda as some sort of "news" or "intellectual critique" when there is exactly none of that.
Gotta love that the more these "journalists" do this, the sooner they will be finding a different job as more people tune them out for being blatant gossip rags with no real integrity for actual news of any variety. It's already known that the majority of these sites have never been profitable and only propped up by investment money and companies subsidizing them.

The Mr Game and Watch thing was three seconds of animation, and the only people that complained about it was ResetEra.
Kotaku bringing this up without even bringing up that ResetEra were the ones that went all in about it furthers my suspicions that it's possible that these outlets are regurgitating the ResetEra narratives in a "more digestible way" without saying they are getting them FROM ResetEra (which goes for the most fringe tone possible about them) because they know what people think about the actual forum and its many controversies. That way, unsuspecting people will be on board with what Era wants without having to worry about explaining their many issues (we know some in the media and developers visit Era).
I wonder if these writers from Kotaku and IGN have active Era accounts. I wonder if a certain former Blizzard employee could look into it and see if there is any connection there.

It's easy to tell who has to worry about what is happening in the world right now and those that don't. Those that don't spend their time LOOKING for things to worry/be offended about. The rest of us? Just trying to figure out what we have to cut to be able to get groceries next week.
DOA had three "volleyball" titles... Those were back in the 360 era. The third isn't even available outside of Japan (for the Nintendo Switch). The DOA series is still a fighter.. DOA 3 was the last released on 360 Gen while 4,5,6 have been in the two most recent generations. 5 was kind of mid.. but I thought DOA 6 felt more back on line with the series. Still hoping that DOA 7 is coming (but I think it's dead). Too bad it's one of the few (slightly) more grounded hand to hand fighting games.

The demo is awesome. It's like playing the accidental but beloved lovechild between the *_REAL_* Devil May Cry's Dante (and not that Ninja Theory shlop) and the canonically heterosexual Bayonetta. Who just happens to have Travis Touchdown & Sylvia as her quirky uncle & aunt and was babysat by 2B.

I have played the demo through twice now and I think it is a great game. I am a 50 year old gamer. I have played games since the Atari age and I have never found anything deliberately wrong with game. There are a lot of games that I do not like, but guess what? If I don't ;like them I don't play them .. Its not like I'm forced to buy them or play them. I have played the same online ARPG straight for 11 years now(Path of Exile incase anyone was wondering). And its not because there are not better games out there its because I like the game, just like i really like Stellar Blade. I have seen a lot of things in the gaming scene, but these "game journalists" no a days really need to stop acting like they know what they are talking about. Love what you and Geeky do here, Kneon. I am glad that I found your channel. Keep you the good work and truthful reporting.

Elden Ring is also an "old game" in that it uses game mechanics like no map markers and no attack canceling which largely disappeared from games 20 years ago.
I remember Oni. It was one of the early 3rd person shooters. It didn't quite hit the mark control-wise like Zelda 64 did but it did paint the way for later 3rd person shooters.
I've said this online several times over the years because it's true. Some of these people are reacting harder than my traditional black southern fried chicken on Sunday mother. She walked in on me playing Dead Or Alive on my ps2 laughed and walked out the room.
