It is so baffling how Disney made a show childish and infantile and yet not appropriate for children or families.
It's intended for "children or families", the children they are trying to convert and "family" doesn't mean what it used to mean.

The activists they hired don't care about company money but the CEOs and shareholders do. The reason Bob Iger and his fellow Hollywood bosses are doing this is because BlackRock cash is still flowing, when BlackRock cash eventually dries up or can't keep pace with the losses then these CEOs will make a 180 and return to the same audience they hated and rejected for their own survival. @@X3nophiliac YES!!!! I was there! The trouble with the McCoy era was a pile up of bad issues. They cast a kids Tv presenter that was well known at the time just for that as the Doctor. McCoy had been on Vision On, Jigsaw, Schools programmes and stuff like Jackanory all the way back tot he 60s. Then there was the rest of the stunt casting. Bonnie Langford, Ken Dodd, Nicholas Parsons, Richard Briers etc they even wanted to get Prince Andrew on there but he refused. He was going to be in the episode with the Queen and they wanted him to walk through the shot as a cameo. In the end they went with look alikes. Lastly they cut the budget further and also the episode and story count. The music was truly terrible, the worst 80s synth Casio keyboard version of the theme and various cheesy bleeps and bloops for the rest of it. And then the writing and storis suffered by being poor. And by that I mean there was nothing stand out like Pyramids of Mars, Inferno, Genesis of the Daleks etc...Not even as good as Earth Shock or The Visitation.
People contest this but at the time you could only compare it with what had come before and that was over the last ten years when the show had been incredible in writing with talent like Tom Baker etc. So compared to that it was obviously not as good and obviously in decline. Part of it was also due to the time the show was put out on weeknights as well, but bottom line the BBC wanted it gone. And so it was done as a way to come up with an excuse to get rid of it. If any of the above sounds like the Whitaker era than its true, there are a lot of similarities. At the time it was getting the lowest ratings of the classic series. And it was axed. Now Doctor Who is getting lower ratings than the McCoy era....its just a matter of when it goes now and how bad its going to get. In hind sight the McCoy era only looks ok if you take it as it is, and dont compare it to the rest. It looks better sometimes as what we have now is even worse, its not Doctor Who, its Doctor portal space baby...etc. Back in the McCoy era it still had the cannon and lore and no pandering and gay messages etc....and yet it was the worst the classic series had to offer....people complained about Colin Baker...and then they got McCoy....now people complained about Whitaker...and they got Gatwa....patterns repeat themselves over time....

I'm a real fan and I liked Space Babies and Boom. I didn't like The Devils Chord so much, but there's always episodes that I don't really connect with. I remember everyone raving about The Girl Who Waited and I found it a bit boring tbh

He chickened out at the last minute!

Not this time. Math matters. When you're hovering around the 4 million mark, you can only take so many 500k hits before you run out of viewers completely. Unless some Biblical miracle occurs, Gatwa's 2nd season will be the end of the road, full stop. Even then, it's only because they already greenlit and put into production the 2nd season.
But if this ratings trend continues (and it likely will, as RTD will have committed to this formula for both seasons), then it means the 2nd season will be struggling to stay above the 2m mark FINAL FIGURES. No sci-fi program - especially one as expensive as NuWho is - has ever survived being in a hole that deep.
Disney burned a shit load of cash on a marketing campaign here in the US and it didn't amount to anything; the UK figures are now dipping into what US Nielsen figures were back in 2010. The UK has always commanded the largest audience, so if 3.91m is your largest audience, it means you don't have shit in any other countries. There is no way Disney will continue to fund this beyond S2.
It was a stupid move on their part to begin with. Typical corporate robot thinking; they assumed DW was a tentpole franchise like Star Wars that they could turn into a mass-produced cash cow. SW is a global phenomena; DW is and always has been a quaint, cult British scifi series that only the most hardcore of overseas nerds knew about. Dumping millions into DW and expecting it to blow up like SW is arguably the dumbest financial decision Disney has ever made.

And so here we are with Ncuti Gatwa camping it up like Butlins and its off the scale. The thing is he did not need to do that. What he could have done is what Pertwee did. And played it absolutely straight and serious. But he cant and wont. And RTD would probably not let him as he wrote it that way. Even in the interviews before this season started they are harping on about leaning into the queerness and so on, so it was always going to cause uproar and drive a lot of people away....If they want to do a show like this it should be on late at night, make a comic, sex romp with lots of messaging etc...or whatever...it just does not work in Doctor Who.

I had a Twitter spat with a BBC/Dr Who shill yesterday over these numbers.
He said there would be significant concern if the 7 day numbers were under 4 million. I posted the numbers with no comment. He then responded that 4.01 million was in his "okay" range and 3.91 million is almost 4 million so it wasn't a significant concern even though he set the range himself.
He then failed to respond to my point about the last episode overnights and accused me of wanting Dr Who to fail saying there won't be another series for 10 years if it fails because of people like me.
This is the problem.
You should have simply agreed with him. Stop letting these evil people try to pretend to have the moral high ground. “It will fail because of people like you”. “People who don’t celebrate degeneracy and evil, yes”.

Could someone explain the meaning behind the +7 and +7 TV 4 screens?
The +7 is essentially how many people recorded and watched the episode within the next seven days of the program being aired, while the +7(TV+4) consolidate ratings takes into account all viewers including those who watched on IPlayer using PC's, laptops, tablets, and phones over the next seven days since the show aired.
Remember when Dr Who was able to go a whole year with decent episodes, now they can’t manage 8, so two months of episodes if one week apart, pathetic.
They came into our home,smashed all the photos and pictures,destroyed the furniture and,then,did a massive dump on the floor before they left.
When you make Bravo Channel programming; you should expect Bravo Channel ratings.
Touch grass? I was the last generation of kids to play outside. I would only come home to watch dbz and stuff like after school and on Saturday mornings. We would then ride bikes for literally over 8 hours a day getting all across town. If even we could make it home with no cars, no cells, dial up internet, etc.. to watch our shows then you can never NEVER NEVER use weather or time releases as a excuse. Even my dad who worked 12 hours a day never missed his favorite tv line-up. Hell we stream live sport games well we're at the lake all day so we don't miss them and lake days are a sun up to sun down long day.
You know when you're looking for somewhere to park in a car park. You see a space and think "that's not good enough for me, I'll have to walk too far" so you carry on driving around looking for a better spot, but there aren't any. You decide you have to circle back and settle for the one you originally saw first but now someone else has taken it and now you're left with nothing. You threw away what you already had, chasing after something that was never there.

These "Nurse What" ratings are horrific and if it was doing well on D+ we would know. This show is dead in the water, can't wait to see CW levels of viewership.
The last time they did the Iplayer figures they tried to hide the real number by counting all the Doctor who viewing figures together for the month, so instead of counting the numbers for only the one episode they counted every episode including the Classic era shows views.
Really? We are enjoying Jon Pertwee and Peter Capaldi episodes in the evening. So will that boost Ncuti's numbers?

Disney is never going to ask for changes on this. This is exactly the kind of show they've been wanting to push for years but couldn't. Hell even the actors are pulling from the Disney playbook and blaming the audience for not liking their stuff. Plus there's the added benefit that most of the blame can be pushed to BBC which is also fairly complicit in trying to push this drivel.
With all the "Too busy touching grass" comments, I can imagine the writers creating a monster of the week based on grass. Just to be petty.
The way they keep moving the goalpost from one digital platform to another to say ratings are fine reminds me of comic books a few years ago, remember when the pros and critics there insisted that it didn't matter if comic sold in shops because the Comixology sales were through the roof and we just had to trust them because those numbers were kept private? That is what is happening with Doctor Who and Disney+ right now. I think the only reason Doctor Who will keep going is that the BBC made it a package deal with Bluey and to get one you have to buy the other, if Doctor Who keeps getting renewed that will be the only reason.
Now if Bluey stops being the fad that it is then Doctor Who is done.
Anyone who wants to have authentic Dr. Who stories, i would highly recommend looking into the BBC radio shows. They have produced them for years and were being made even while the television show was off the air originally. I cant speak for more recent releases but there is a backlog of decades of stories following the older doctors through untold stories never shown on tv

Just to clarify: The 7 day + 4 screen figures INCLUDE the overnights. As you move from left to right across the screen each number represents the updated TOTAL viewers. Also, the Christmas special figures the Radio Times cited? Fudged. 10m views were not streamed for Church on Ruby Road. It was 10m views across all of Doctor Who on iplayer during the xmas week. Classic series, Nuwho, specials, and the new episode.
From memory, it's something like 5-10 seconds of viewing gets listed as a view on iPlayer.

Corporations got caught up on those reports that say alphabet people have the most disposable income, and thought the way to wrest it from them was to pander to them. But most of them are fairly normal people, like most of use, and they don't need to be pandered to to be a fan of something. It just needs to be good, not some insane stupid crap.
