The baguette story reminds me of a time when I was buying groceries and the cashier bagged a carton of eggs on the bottom of the bag and them proceeded to place several cans of tomatoes on top. I stopped her, pointed out what she had done. She insisted that it was fine since she thought the egg cartons were very sturdy. I let her know that there was no way I would pay for this and she needed to unbag them. I then opened the carton and found several of the eggs were already broken. Maybe if the cashier was a young teenager, I could understand this but she was middle aged. How does someone reach their forties and not know that eggs are fragile?

Eggs are actually capable of holding a lot of weight. If the tomato cans are gently placed on top of the carton and stacked neatly the eggs will be fine. Granted how much weight a carton of eggs can hold is dependent on how many eggs are in the carton so the weight is evenly spread.

When I was a young 17yr old bagger, I used to enjoy messing with older customers by pretending to be a dumb blond. I'd get a puzzled look on my face while holding their gallon of milk, look at the cashier, and ask, "Sooo, eggs on the bottom milk on the top, right?" before pretending to smash their eggs in a separate paper bag.
The sheer panic on some of their faces made the $4.50/hr bullshit job somewhat tolerable.

There was a similar locker situation at my old job: we had lockers outside of security for things like your phone and keys (can’t/won’t bring them in the building or leave them in their car). There were four shifts and a lot of employees though so people would claim a locker and leave their lock on it when they left so no one else could use it, despite signs telling you not to do that. This obviously left fewer lockers available for the other shifts. Eventually the security guards went through and cut all the locks off on a day we only ran two shifts and people LOST THEIR MINDS when their precious locker wasn’t reserved anymore

Sounds like they could have done with having the sorts of locks that are often used on supermarket “trolley” lockers where i live, where there is a key lock built into the door, but in order to lock it, you have to insert a coin into a slot on the inside of the door, and when you open the door, the coin is returned to you, and the key then cannot be removed until you insert another coin and lock it

I think the hoarders who were selling their house have a serious misconception on what real estate agents do since they expected them to clean the house for them and didn't want any advice from them on how to sell the house.

A few months ago I was looking at properties and it’s actually astonishing how entitled some sellers are . You always expect the buyers to be the issue ( and tbh in my experience 60% of buyers do take the piss making ridiculous demands on a place they don’t even own yet ! ) but you expect most sellers to just want to sell their home . I wanted to look at a property that was grade 2 listed . For those that don’t know it basically means the building has historical features and renovations can only be done using the same methods and materials of the time period it was built . As long as renovations are minor you can own a lovely piece of history , but major renovations can land you in a money pit that you will never get out of . I’ve always wanted to own a proper old fashioned house but as the pictures only showed the front of the property I called the agent to find out just HOW bad it was . Short answer … it was bad . I later found pics of the inside , ceilings missing , walls damaged , no floor etc . But the worst part was the seller . The agent clearly did not like him and decided to have a nice little bitch session with me . Turns out the property has a small building attached that IS renovated , running water etc that someone who did want to restore the house could live in whilst working on it . Except the seller expected the buyer to pay another 50 grand for the privilege of owning this small shed type attachment . If you didn’t want to pay extra he would board up the back door , stop water and heat to the house and was also expecting to keep the pavement part of the garden . Essentially he was holding the heating and water hostage to force buyers into paying more . The agent also told me that the seller was threatening that if he didn’t get his way he would continue to live in the shed thing essentially as your very VERY close neighbour . Later on I ended up viewing another house through this agent and asked for an update because I’m all about the drama . The seller had now decided even if someone WAS to pay the extra he was now never going to sell the shed building so you would have him living on your property whether you liked it or not ! The last time I saw the house on the market the price had dropped by 80 grand and after a longer amount of time I checked again out of curiosity and it’s gone . I don’t think he sold it , the agent was very honest telling me how fed up they were with this guy and that house , how they were loosing money on the sale because he was insisting on holding parts of the property hostage, and they were gonna cut him loose and cut their losses . It’s a real shame because in the right hands that house could be a beautiful period property.

I just have to say that that kind of arrangement just sounds illegal. Like, I don't know if it actually is, but I would assume that you cannot control the water/heating of other people's properties unless you are their landlord (which it sounds like that wasn't the case with this story), and even then they are not able to just refuse water/heating without justifiable reason. I would be very interested if the seller was actually breaking any laws because that sounded like a clear cut scam.
Actually, now that I think about it, any idea what the utility bill situtation would have been if someone bought the house and not the shed? If the seller could cut off access to the water/heat but the buyer would still pay for it then that is more than likely some kind of theft.

    • @Sky-ps9ev
      @Sky-ps9ev Před 2 lety +3

@@aaronmccullers384 that’s the first thing I asked them when they told me lol the way the water / heating was set up makes it not illegal apparently as it was specified that the buyer would need to get their own connection the main water source ( not sure if that’s the term ) and heating etc . the one thing that did border on being illegal is actually the back door . I spoke to the agent regarding this and he was very honest in saying they were looking into the legality of the seller locking up the back door as apparently there’s some law that says there needs to be at least two exit points to a building in case of fire . The seller was basically only allowing the front door as an entrance and an exit point . I honestly felt for the agent when I spoke to him he just seemed so done with the whole situation

@@Sky-ps9ev Interesting and good to know. Ironically, the seller might have gotten a decent deal if they tried to go through one of those house flipping TV shows as a historic building being completely renovated sounds like something that you would see on such shows. Unfortunately for the seller, they were not smart enough to try that, if they were then they would have actually made an offer that people would be willing to pay.

Regarding the baguette: I have no idea where the OP lives, but in my area there are two large, independent chains which offer low-complexity jobs like baggers and cart wranglers to adults with learning disabilities and similar issues. These people are often very nice and try to be helpful, but they simply don't see the world the way the rest of us do. If their job is to put things in bags, they find ways to put things in bags.

At my old job we had lockers in the break room but they were for everyone, you couldn't just keep one. But no one followed that rule. People would leave locks on the lockers for days. One time I put my bag in one, went to work and came to get my bag after my shift to go home and someone had put a lock on it. I had to get my boss to bring out some tool to cut it off.

7:30 this reminds me of my work. I work as floor staff at a night club so I have to clean the floor if someone throws up. They always manage to throw up in the most high traffic or hard to clean areas. Not in a bin or on a drain but on the stairs to the toilets or the centre of the dance floor. If it is outside its not near the edge or drain so I can just wash it away its right in the middle where people will still walk through despite me clearly trying to clean.

As someone who doesn't own a car anymore and has to take the bicycle everywhere, I find it infuriating enough when people park their bikes on bike racks in awful manners. But I doubt that the communal services where I live would tolerate people "reserving" bike lockers if we had those, and would likely be on regular patrols to not only cut the locks off, but probably also fine the people doing it if they got caught, similar to parking wardens.

Third story...I used to manage a photolab in S.E. London that was part of a Pro lab ( same company but run separately ). I was told this little gem and I still can't believe anybody would do this.
So...a guy ( pro photographer ) came in and wanted a enlargement....said print is duly completed but there's a few dust marks on it ( not good ) so they had to redo it. All fair and good, and the guy asked if they could please deliver it. So the guy got home to find the print ( about a 16 x 20 inch ) waiting for him.
But there's another problem...the person who delivered it couldn't get a reply when they knocked at his door...so...they FOLDED it in half, flattened it...then shoved it through the letter box ! Cue one 'slightly' irate customer screaming down the phone !
