Folks in flint were beyond desperate for help around this time. An organization I was with delivered thousands of cases of clean water out there and it was wild how many people were following our trucks, trying to get multiple cases beyond our inventory. It was like the Wild West.

I live a few hours from Michigan in Canada. We have a freshwater river that is supposedly "The purest water in the world". People drive from all over to get this water. There are line ups, our tap water is fine but people still go to the river.

Context : Obama was visiting the town of Flint, Michigan. His visit was during the water contamination crisis in May of 2016. The event lasted from April 2014 to June 2016.
The contamination was due to bad pipes and a bad water supply leading to Leggionaires Disease, which caused 12 deaths (to the disease) and a large portion of the population getting sick.
Obama asked for water during this visit because the water had been deemed safe for consumption at that time, but residents of the town were still skeptical. He wanted to ensure everyone the water was safe to drink.
The crisis was then ended 1 month later in June of 2016.

I lived in a Flint and all they did to "fix" the problems of the pipes was to replace the pipe from the street to my house. According to the government that is what fixed the issue..... I had to get on some meds to reduce my lead levels in my body and i stopped using the water in my house for anything. Id shower at work in Saginaw or a friends house in another town and do my laundry there as well. I did this till 2019 when i moved out of the state
