The only accountability they face will be by the parents if they decide to act. I'm not saying sex has no place in books. Even older teen books. One of my favorite books is banned now, which I don't agree with. "Looking for Alaska" I feel it's an over correction but I suppose it's better than the constant over exposure of tweens to sex and sexuality.

As a former librarian I would have to disagree. Usually books that are bought for schools come from recommendations lists online or are recommended by the students themselves. What I will say it is the fault of the school themselves for not screening the books before they displayed for the kids to read. But before you make accusations you need to be informed on how process works when bringing books into the schools.

If the librarian just let it be, theyâd be a neutral participant which is still bad, but they became an active and willing contributor which is even worse. The librarian said it all when she asked that kid if he wanted more and more graphic.They are pushing it not just supplying it.

I agree that someone his age shouldnât have access to it. 16 and older would be acceptable in my opinion.
The fact that the young boy was able to check it out is surprising and should be changed so only age appropriate could check it out.
The fact that the dadâs oldest was able to check out the queer book makes you think, maybe his son is questioning his sexuality? Why else would he check it out?

@@darkgardener9577 I think youâre blowing that out of proportion. This has nothing to do with groomers. Some people regardless of age sometimes need an ally to turn to about their sexuality. Not all parents are supportive of their children coming out or questioning their sexuality. There needs to be allies that can help or guide those that donât feel comfortable talking to parents about this. So they turn to books. Do you have any better ideas?
@@darkgardener9577 I grew up in a heterosexual religious conservative community without any exposure to any gay lifestyle or same sex exposure, whether it be verbal or physical. I came out when I was 18, it was a time that I finally needed to be honest with myself and others. It definitely gets better when you live and work in a community that supports the lgbt community. You can feel comfortable to be yourself. Frankly I wish I had the reading resources to help guide myself through coming out and the leading up to it.
If the parent(s) condone such literature, so be it. You canât force your beliefs on others. You have control issues then. Each person regardless of age is their own individual.
Nobody forced their children to check out any book to bring home.
