You don't need to wash your hair every single time you shower. You can over strip the oils from your scalp. I usually only wash my hair every second day unless I do strenuous activities, but I still shower every day. The shower cap keeps your hair unwashed while you shower.
There's also products that benefit from being used in a shower cap, like post-bleach shampoo.😊

People with long hair wash it less often. Long hair gets greasy slower, I think because when you have short hair you keep touching it to fix it and you bring up the oil from the base of the head onto the whole hair, and it's also more noticeable than on long hair.
