Story 1: Hearing this story about a bully getting destroyed by OP is so satisfying as a victim of bullying. I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for bullies, whether they have a terrible home life or whatever. *NONE.*

Absolutely not.
If there's no "too far" in the bullying then it's all fair.
I can empathize with the bully from what we hear about his home life but I agree, he deserves no sympathy for the comeuppance for the shitty way he chose to cope with that.
I do find it unfortunate that only 1/4 of the bullies got what they deserved though
I understand trauma response and learned behavior. I do, I deal with it all the time in my job. But it is still a choice to act that way. They could choose to NOT treat people the way they are treated at home and NOT make them feel that way. Then they could make good friends and have an escape at school and maybe even at their houses every now and then! And it’s something that is constantly taught as part of social-emotional learning in schools.
I got bullied too but I don’t condone OP’s actions at all.
He hurt an innocent girl, for once, and then he subjected his bully to danger by fake outing him as gay (since we know how some parents will make their children homeless for such things or physically hurt them).
He was 14 though, so I understand why these revenge acts seemed appropriate at the time.
Hearing bullies get their comeuppance is always satisfying to me, my bully used to say I was too ugly to have children and that I'd die alone, now I have a son and she discovered she's infertile

They say that the best revenge to bullies is a life well-lived, but flat out rejecting someone asking you out, after they're the one who tormented you for a year, is what I call Karmic justice!

The best thing about that revenge is that OP didn't go out of his way to get back at the bully. She created that situation herself, OP turned it around on her, and she instead humiliated herself.

The one problem I have with the first story is that OP only got one of the bullies back, the others deserve the same.
In my opinion they all deserve jailtime. That was a serious abuse.

While that's certainly true, even getting one back is a result - how many victims of bullying actually get revenge on their bullies?

To be perfectly clear, what they did was absolutely horrifying, and could have lifelong repercussions, (depending on the severity of the damage), but school age children, doing these things in schools don't get successfully prosecuted very often.
If OP's parents had made a very determined effort to get something done then perhaps the police might have looked into it, but there are innumerable stories about people suffering at the hands of scummy people, and the vast majority of police forces will offer up any excuse not to get involved.
Look into the case of Fiona Pilkington and her daughter, (and Leicestershire Police) which ended in tragedy in October 2007.
It's one of the most traumatising stories you'll ever read about.
Very briefly, the woman and her family suffered the worst imaginable abuse from a gang of bullies, (many of them her neighbours) for TEN YEARS...ten years of utter hell.
It only ended when she killed herself and her daughter, (who had learning difficulties) by setting her car on fire.
Leicestershire Police REFUSED to do a thing, despite the fact that one police officer tried, and tried, and tried some more to get his superiors to look into it.
(If I remember correctly, even he was a bit reluctant at the very beginning, though I wouldn't swear on it without reading about it again).
So yeah, the boys who assaulted OP should have been at lthe very least investigated by the police, and if guilty, prosecuted and imprisoned, but judicial systems are broken everywhere.

Story 1: I sometimes wonder why people bully people for "being nerds," but I guess I just never grew up in an environment that had such bullies

Nerds have become valued in today's society. The first OP's story took place in the late 90's or early 2000's, based on how he described the Nokia phone. That was before society understood their value.

What middle school taught me, is that bullies are bullies, no matter if they were guys or girls. If they hit you, you hit back, and step up, so they will be afraid of you.
The bullies taught me several good lessons:
1. They will try to exploit any weakness, so show them none.
2. They will try to hit you. Keep your distance and use your legs.
3. Keep away from the head to avoid visits at the Principal's office. Aim for the groin if the bully is a guy or the stomach if it's a girl.
4. They will try to fight dirty. Do not fall for their schemes.
5. Embarrassment is your greatest weapon. If the bully gets laughed at, you are the winner.
6. (most important) Be aggressive, but always calculating. You're a nerd, not a weakling. You are smarter than the bullies. Use your head. Never lose your temper.
2nd story: The fact that the landlord could so easily move down to the original price when needed says everything. This was just about squeezing as much money as possible from the tenants because the application showed they had a good income. God damn, landlords really are scum.
They'll still be, once the rental industry is mostly corporatized.
It’s almost worse in this case, sounds like the agent (middle man) was hoping to get a higher commission. I can’t imagine they were relaying this info back and fourth with the landlord.
Story 1: kid got off light. That could be construed as sexual assault, and attempted murder as puncturing the sack like that could make a male bleed out

when you treat people poorly, you open yourself up to getting slammed like this bully did- everytime you drive someone to the edge, youre essentially rolling the dice on how vindictive that person is

That agent needs to be reported. No way it’s legal to take someone’s money and then raise prices like that. And they have they responsibility of turning the property over in clean and life able conditions. That’s not the responsibility of the new tenant!

I assume OP never reported it to the police and if he had it would be his word against the bully's word.
@@uselessinformation1988 It wouldn’t really be his word against the bully’s, there were other witnesses and a quick doctor visit can confirm the injuries. Also as a minor it should have been OP’s parents who report it to the police.

His bully behaviour prolly has a lot to do with his upbringing and it's not unreasonable to think that his uncle "who was a little more understanding" is probably a better role model
Also, getting away from his bully clique probably helped. I've a friend who was saved from being a hardcore football ultra (as in, the ones attacking and killing people) by separation from his toxic friends

First story: As the school chess champion I was condemned to eternal nerdity. My best friend was in the band, which was an equal kiss of death. He became a famous musician, the coolest of the cool at our twenty fifth class reunion, and ignored the mean kids when they tried to suck up. My own revenge was never hiring them when they applied to work for me.
OP's revenge was immediate, and brilliant, but I have discovered that life itself generally provides our revenge. Bullies and other mean kids don't make the kind of friends that last a lifetime, so there's nobody out there prepared to give them a leg up. As Bob Hope said, "Be nice to people on your way up because you'll meet them again on your way back down."
One of my bullies was that type of girl who shows up as strong minded and capable of putting anyone under her foot. Years later I heard she was quite deep into drugs, and not doing ok. One day I was going somewhere and we walked past each other. She looked at me for a second, and then looked away in what looked in shame. She hugged herself and kept walking.
I never saw her again.

I’m certain that the landlord bait and switch scheme is against some fair housing regulations. I’d do some research then make a complaint to the housing authorities, then let them sort it out as icing on the petty revenge cake.
If you can't be a decent human being just because it's the right thing to do, do it out of self interest.
You don't know what the other person is capable of once you push them far enough.
Then that’s on the other person if they think the only solution is to destroy someone else’s life.
When school shooters survive and are interviewed, it's almost always bullying.
Of course, there's also the occasional whacko that just was always gonna derail no matter what, but bullying contributes a large part to school shootings.

Story 4 (Dumb Landlord): Isn't the whole point of a landlord is to ensure that stuff like this never happens? Did he truly, with every atom of his brain, believe that the leak would just stop after a while? I wonder how he's still a landlord because I get the feeling that this isn't the first time an incident happened due to his laziness
That story really didnt make sense, if the leak was from the faucet itself into the bathtub, then how did the water damage anything below, when it would be leaking into the bathtub and therefore going down the drain.
@@Ryanthusar It's entirely possible that the *visible* leak was from/around the faucet. Doesn't mean there wasn't other damage to the plumbing that affected the unit below.

I know a landlord and if his tenants call with an issue he's in there the next day to figure out who he has to call to fix it. Its called preventative care, keep the issue from getting worse and keep your tenants happy at the same time
Even I know that if it's a water, gas or electrical problem, you fix it ASAP. Those are main ones that can cause the most expensive damage in the shortest time.
For the mean girl story: Honestly what the girl even think will happen. The guy , she and her friends bully every day and who forced to move school because of them. Will suddenly be swoon by her (with her friends laughing loud enough for Op to hear, show she didn’t change).
This isn’t like the movies. Glad Op told her that he doesn’t buy her bull

The only way bullies ever truly learn is if they themselves suffer. Zero sympathy for bullies, I’ve too many memories and scars on my body from bullies, from homophobic attacks (scar on my temple, ended up hospitalised with a deep wound to my head) to being a kid in a new town and having my head smashed off a pub window, to the same kids harassing me in the park across from my home where I was practicing hockey and had to use my hockey stick to defend myself. The bully actually got her mother and came to my house, claiming she was the victim, and it had to be explained to her mother that the bruising all over my face and body was from her kid and her friends, and this wasn’t the first time she’d seriously assaulted me. The mother continuing screeching how her “baby” would never do that, and the door got slammed on her face.
That bully never harassed me again, she also had a scar on her face from said hockey stick. And then there’s the old school I had moved from (to where I just got bullied by the girl above) where I was hardcore bullied because my parents divorced. I remember sitting in class one day and this girl said “hey do you wanna be popular for the day? All you have to do is kiss this guy”, and the guy had his pants pulled down, I’d never done anything to these kids other than exist, wear glasses, come from a different area of Scotland from them (I’m a Gaelic Highlander living in the south), and have divorced parents, somehow all of those were reason to just harass me day after day. So when leaving school because I was being moved due to the bullying making me extremely depressed at age 10, I specifically requested my teachers not mention it at all until my last day, only 2 students who were my friends also knew. On my last day in the last hour (so like 2.30pm) the teacher said
“Oh hey Sarah, this is your last day, right?”
“Yeah”
“Okay, just making sure so I don’t give you homework!”
All of a sudden the bitchy “popular” girls all started clamouring like “omg we’ll miss you”, “why didn’t you say”, “we could’ve had a going away party”. I asked the teacher if I could just leave early, I was uncomfortable and not in the mood for fakery. She agreed, she’d seen these kids bully me and knew disciplining them never stopped them and she looked genuinely mad they were pretending to be my friend. I left without another word and because it was still early I went to the towns museum, because why not.
That stuff stays with you, as an adult you end up seriously distrusting towards everyone, you remember the things screamed at you, you remember the assaults, bullies made your life hell for their own personal amusement when you’re simply a person trying to exist. So I’ve no sympathy for the guy, especially because that’s a serious assault and he just laughed it off, I’ve been there where bullies laugh off assaulting you, they deserve zero sympathy.
I hate bullies so much, that even going nuclear on them is fair game.
I think one of the best revenge against a bully I ever read was from r/NuclearRevenge, when OP, after enduring a bully for years, gathered all the information she could about the bully, then went on a relentless revenge campaign that ended up with the bully losing her job, her family and her house.

So... The teenage bully loses his phone... For an entire Week... and, just.... didn't notice? That whole time, he never even mentioned it to his GF, his parents, or anyone else, let alone report it lost/stolen to the service provider? Sorry, OP, not buying what you're trying to sell here.
At one point in my career, I (and a lot of other people), finished one of my parish's sanctuaries. It was not a cathedral, but rather a small town parish church. One of the things we had to have installed in this just rough framed in building was the HVAC system. We found a contractor. We paid 50% up front and then 50% on completion. They did the rough-in. When we were ready for them to come and do the last one day of work, which was to install the air vent covers, they installed intake vent covers on all of the output vents. I called them over and over and over again, asking, begging, pleading with them to come and fix their mistake (or laziness). No response. We had two scissor lifts onsite at that time. Well, they never responded. I still had the 50% of the bid in my pocket. The lifts were picked up. I finally received a call from their finance department asking why we hadn't paid for a completed job. I said, "The job is not complete. I never signed off on it. The vents need to be replaced with the correct ones." The next week, they had to rent a lift and replace the vents. The supervisor who ignored me was reprimanded. I finally released the rest of the money. Money talks folks...money talks.

They could have accomplished the same thing by making it seem like the bully had an affair with another girl. Because their actions could have potentially put an actual gay in a dangerous situation. Especially back then.

Considering where the story was from, which sounded like the UK, then likely no if it was anything more than 10 years ago.

That story with the bully asking him out and him rejecting her reminds me of something that happened to me in high school.
I was a very nerdy guy. I got bullied when I was younger, but in high school I tended to get along with everyone. A new girl came to our class from another country. She was good looking, but it was taking her a while to learn the language. She befriended another girl that was originally from the same country as her, and they would often pick on people together. I knew she must be having trouble adjusting and making friends, so I didn't judge.
Once during a school trip as I was walking back from the bathroom by myself - they approached me together. The friend said to me "Hey, do you want her?"
I said "What? I don't know". I also had no idea where they were going with this.
She said "you don't know if you want her? What kind of man are you?" (or something like that, it was ages ago)
I said, turning to the girl herself instead of talking through her friend "Look, wanting someone, wanting to be with them - it's about a lot of things, and about finding the right person and having a genuine connection with them. Sure, you look good - but I don't really know you, or much about you. If you want us to try to get to know each other and see if there's any potential for a relationship - sure, I'd be open to that. If that's not what you want - then I'm probably not the guy for you... Either way I hope you find what you want and that it makes you happy"
They both sort of stared at me with their mouths open, the friend said "Yeah!" and they hurried off.
I was naive and romantic, and I don't think they were expecting such a sincere response. Looking back now they probably wanted me to show interest and then reject me or something...
Love when the guy rejected the girl from his old school. But she needs to stop before she gets a form of STDs or HIVs. It’s sad how much people change because of a joke gone wrong. Honestly. They’re disgusting really.
That last story happened to me and my wife as well. We had a leak in our bathtub and we couldnt shut the water off. It was the hot water, so to keep from steaming ourselves 24/7, we had to turn the cold water on full blast. We tried to report it and have it fixed but they ignored us. Well 1 month and a 12k water bill later they had someone in the next day. The best part is the plummer was pissed cause all it needed was a new $10 gasket
I had a similar thing happen in my first (rental) apartment. Someone (not me) mishandled an old faucet when they fixed it up to allow me in as tenant and it had sprung a leak inside the wall. As in, the bits of piping inside the wall got jostled and damaged, making water flow into the wall, saturate the concrete below and wreck my floors. Immediately when I noticed the problem I called the building's management so the issue could be found and fixed. They claimed to send a plumber asap and I'd be contacted for the appointment time. Days passed, nothing happened. I got the plumbing company's info from management and the company told me that they got a call FROM THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT cancelling the job not long after it was filed, before they could make an appointment with me. I ended up contacting the building management again, no luck. So I got upset; since I was barely out of my teens at the time and they wouldn't take me seriously I knew I had to call in the big guns. I gave their info to my mother.
She reamed them out and threatened to get an expensive company in and send them the bill if there wasn't a plumber at my door the next day. It worked, next day the issue was handled. Had to have the floors replaced though. Awful management company. Everything took me multiple calls until I collected enough of the info of the various companies they worked with to just start asking those directly when things needed to be fixed. The management was legally required to handle things via the contract, so it doesn't matter where the bill comes from if they know about the issue.
I'm surprised that the OP in the first story didn't just hand over the bully's phone to the school since it's proof that he was there, and OP could've gotten revenge on the others by having the school offer leniency on the one bully if he ratted out his jerkass friends.
You assume school administrator's give a damn. Unfortunately schools too often just want to hush everything up and pretend nothing happened.
Sure its proof that he was there but WHEN? He could've dropped it much earlier in the day.
And like the other dude said it's unlikely they would do much anyway.
It's not even proof though. He could have stole the phone, the guy could have lost it's phone at a prior date. It's unfortunate but the school can't take the phone as proof. His word should be enough to launch an investigation though. Or the witnesses (did their friend saw it ? I don't remember).
In a perfect world that would work. But in our current world nothing would have come from that suggestion and OP would be out of his revenge.
1st story: Ah, I love when karma spits on bully's face. Idgaf if their home life is bad,that's not a reason to badly treat other people. Especially when it involved probably causing permanent damage to the area between the legs.

Story 3: I would have had a different approach. "Before I say yes, did you manage to get the chlamydia treated in the end? Yeah you did, you were diagnosed with it a few months ago"
last story: as a landlord myself that rents out to tenants, that's literally the dumbest thing a landlord could do. you can ignore alot of repair work like a crack or a creaking floorboard and such, but water leakage is one of the things that you do NOT ignore!

I don’t really believe the first story. I know it’s a long time ago and that cellphones weren’t used the way they are today but it still seems unlikely that he never told friends, girlfriend or parents that he lost his phone for a whole week.
Bullies are often abused or have toxic families too (not a excuse still) so may not have told the parents so they wouldn't get in trouble

But I don’t know. I remember my phone back when I was 14. I used it to play Snake on mostly 😂 I’d text my friends a few times a week maybe.

As someone who was badly bullied in school it leaves lasting scars. However Karama,Fate etc absolutely kicks them in the teeth later on in life. Very satisfying to see they get what they deserve & end up living miserable lives. Be nice to people because life has a way of getting even & then some if you don't.
If you bully someone, you deserve what ever pain heads your way, be careful who you push, they might just stand back up and break your nose.

we also had a land lord that refused to fix anything. They also refused to come sign new leases. It got so bad that lawyers were involved and we moved out. Since there was no lease we only had to give a months notice. After a legal battler we did manage to finally have ourselves removed from the bills for that apartment and get some money back to pay for the move and legal fees. It was a stressful mess. we ended up moving to an apartment in the same building so I have been able to keep an eye on things. Since they had refused to fix a leak in a wall for years, actual years, refused to repair the AC, refused to repair the leaking water heater, refuse to repair blinds and several other things, that apartment was under renovations off and on for the past year! a solid 6 months in one go and then I have seen and heard work being done off and on since. It is still empty and not listed for sale or rent yet. I am so happy that they have had to pay all the bills, and repairs costs on top on losing so much rent revenue. They are horrible people and they deserve. If only the court covered the cost of my therapy for all of the trauma and abuse they put me through.
I've always wondered why bullying isn't legally considered harassment. And if they take your lunch money (if that actually happens), how is that not theft or robbery? Especially if they're threatening violence?
It should. I have argued for treating bullying as the actual crimes they are. Harassment, assault, sexual assault or harassment, destruction of property, theft, robbery.
Unfortunately, by calling it bullying it looks less serious than it actually is. Thus, schools are not pushed to stop it. This is true for most countries.
Heck, cyber bullying could potentially be viewed as stalking.

She picked on me from elementary school all the way to high school because I was different.
Once, when I did defend myself, she went cwying to mommeh, on the staff, and she got off scott free and *I* was the one in trouble ((which, okay, in hindsight, I’ll give her that one)).

I made a joke in the past about “getting out of dodge” ((which I knew would not happen)), so I posted something along the lines of: “guess I didn’t get out of dodge. Oh, well. 🤷♀️”.

She starts getting all palsy walsy with me, saying things like: “wasn’t high school *for us* ” and “didn’t *we* have fun then?!”.
I blocked her and went on with my day.
Remember, it’s r/prorevenge, not r/moraljudging. So the bullying story being either out of line or not enough is irrelevant. That said, pushing someone far enough, things could have been worse.

I took communications in college. One of the most effective negotiation techniques they taught us was silence. Silence is NOT consent, and legally speaking makes things worse. Silence is one of the worst things you could get from the other side as it means a solid no. They feel so desperate that they feel a need to keep making noise. The use of silence from the OP and his girl was brilliant.
The only way to counter silence is a walk away threat. “Ok we’ll talk again when you have something to say. Be warned, the deal might not be there when you get back.
OP is really lucky that he wasn't more injured, something like that could easily have caused a serious injury with permanent consequences. So yeah, I don't feel that bad for the bully either.
Okay so story 1 is interesting in a way. Yes, OP got (some semblance of) revenge and that's great
But if you think about it, this could have either great or *horrible* outcomes
This kid got raised by people that seemingly hate the idea of having a gay son. So he gets framed for being a gay.
He either ends up thinking his parents are ass for dumping him _or_ his hatred for the gays is turbocharged

The only thing I'm worried about in that first story is if OP's friend got backlash for being the "boyfriend." Surely because the bully and girlfriend had his number, there would be ways to know?
The "boyfriend" was probably smart enough to avoid putting potentially identifiable information in the text, the girlfriend probably didn't care who the "boyfriend" was, and the bully probably wanted to avoid calling attention to the situation since no one believed him anyway. Also, bullies are evil, but rarely smart. He probably couldn't figure out a plan to find the person with only a phone number while also dealing with his life justly imploding.
Yeah, you can definitely file a complaint with the state about real estate agents. They will get a strike on their license. If it goes far enough, they can even have their license taken away.
On the apartment story, I’d have definitely left that agent a review about that experience.
As someone who was bullied in childhood, I felt like I'm getting revenge by proxy in that first story. Lol. I put up with a lot of crap later in my life because of the coping mechanisms I developed when I was younger. I didn't realize that until I got therapy later in life. I wish I'd gotten therapy earlier, I would have been a happier man. Get therapy. Trust me. Best thing I ever did. Also, the hardest. If you're young and being bullied, try to find out what is driving it and use it. Like "Is everything ok at home? Usually when people do this kind of thing, they have a bad situation at home. Do you want me to call CPS for you?" In public. Preferably in front of his buddies.
story 2: i have a similar story, my junior year of college me and 2 roommates were looking for a house to rent in our area. we found one that was a little bit out of our budget, but the private owner who was renting out the property was really the only person to take 3 college aged kids seriously. the place was… okay i guess, the location was a huge thing for me as it backed up to one of our national parks with a ton of beautiful open land and space to explore. The previous tenant was still living there, and was moving because the owner raised the rent price. we didn’t even get to see the inside in person, because apparently the tenant didn’t want people to tour while he was still living there. the photos were nice and it looked updated. the landlord offered us a nice deal in regards to how we could split up the expensive deposit and first and last months rent so we felt like this was endgame and our only real option. 2 days later he sent us the lease, luckily my mom and lawyer read over it. it basically removed the landlord of all responsibility of the property once we moved in. no repairs, no maintenance, no carbon monoxide detector, and a whole slew of things that were very obvious red flags. my mother emailed him, and told him after going over the lease we wouldn’t be moving forward with signing it. he was so angry and texted me, a 19 year old woman, a slew of insults and curse words. to say we dodged a bullet , we realized that the reason the tenant was moving was because the landlord was price gouging the rent, and the property had a lot of issues. he was trying to unload the property onto what he thought was unknowing college students, that wouldn’t read the fine print of the lease. we ended up finding a super nice 3 bedroom home that had a huge yard for my dog and got an amazing deal on rent that we loved!!
Story 2: some times non-action is the best course. About 7.5 years ago we were selling an old bed to clear a room for our baby's nursery. I'd listed it for $100, but I really didn't care how much we sold it for as it was a hand-me-down from my folks and they'd bought it 15 years prior for $100. I got a text about it, but had been busy with work and couldn't respond right away. I finally was able to respond an hour later and apparently they were really desperate for it and upped the price by $20. I ended up giving them a bedside table too because I didn't need it and they were a early 20 something couple with almost nothing to fill their new apartment.
I have no sympathy for bullies, being bullied from 2nd to 9th grade daily. Robbed, beaten, pushed down stairs, pushed to the brink of suicide to escape and ditching school to prevent that.
So any bully's life that gets ruined, I'll simply clap for the person that destroyed them and hope the turd's life keeps getting worse. Bullies do not deserve sympathy.
First story - I hope that the bullies haven't destroyed his chances of having kids.

Story 2: my dad actually went through something similar when he was buying his current house. They found their house and liked the price and so they made an offer, and he was told what his original down payment would be. He pulled out that money and some things happened and his down payment ended up being another $25,000. And then, on top of that as he was closing the sale on his house, the seller tried to pull some kind of BS and make him sign a power of attorney contract. He didn’t like that one bit, so he hired a lawyer to scare to the seller into quitting his BS. To say that the seller was crapping bricks after my dad sent a lawyer after him would be an understatement. He was so terrified after my dad sent the lawyer that he dropped the price of the house $10,000 as a “show of good faith”
First story is hilarious because of how obviously fake it is. This guy somehow has fine details about what happened in this family? Sure. Fantasy.

First story: The bully's family disowning him feels like a rare aftermath. As somewhat rare as the phones are as OP describes, you would've think the family would've noticed that before the girlfriends arrival. My best guess that his folks are the kind of people that would deny and double-down even if the truth was shining down on a Jumbotron TV.

You know, I've been thinking about that first story, if his family was so homophobic and toxic that they'd disown their son based on a rumor like that then maybe it was a good thing he got out of that environment, hopefully his uncle will raise him to not be such a shit person.

Story 1: The first part of my life was destroyed from actually being gay so honestly I wouldn't put that on anyone. OP's Mom should have pressed charges against the boys that assaulted her son and lodged a complaint with the school for tolerating the BS of the bullies.
Prank call story: Only way this could have been better was if he had said that he heard rumors of her sleeping around and cheating on guys, and that he (OP) didn't want to get mixed up in that drama. Assuming she had a bf at the time, it definitely would have stirred up some extra drama on her end.
story 1: that was the single most glorious bout of revenge i ever heard of. as someone with absolutely no sympathy for bullies, that is commendable.
Back when I was a little kid, there was this neighborhood bully who picked on the wrong kid. Winter day, bully's walking through an open field, sees one of his victims, and doesn't give it much thought. Never gave *any* thoughts after, because said victim picked up either a heavy branch or rock, came up from behind, and caved in the bully's skull. Repeatedly. Plenty of suspects, but no one for sure. Either way, a *lot* of rage was released that day, and seemingly, no one was in any itchin' hurry to find out who did it.
Justice was served..

related to the bullied kid who got a phone call from the popular mean girl - i did practically the same thing in middle school! there was this guy in my home room science class i didn't know beyond his name from attendance call and who he hung out with, he was a popular jock. for whatever reason ever since we were randomly assigned to work together one time, he was slowly beginning to do more and more little things to get under my skin. finally one day he came up to me and asked if i wanted to go out with him. honestly it was kind of a stupid idea on his part; how stupid did he think *I* must be to think that i would want anything to with someone who treated me as badly as he did? or did he think that just because he was popular that any girl he asked out would immediately slobber all over him? it was really obvious he wanted to hear me say yes and reject me to hurt my feelings - instead, i immediately scoffed, gave him a repulsed face like i'd just smelled something bad and said something like "with you? eugh, ew, no." before i turned back to whatever i was doing, i was surprised that there was a look of hurt and surprise on his face before he walked back across the classroom without a word. maybe he was just disappointed his plan didn't work, but part of me likes to think i bruised his ego a bit. i was an unpopular "weirdo" kid, i got bullied a lot. it was nice to, for once, have a reaction ready that stopped the interaction in its tracks and maybe put him in his place a little bit. he didn't talk to me ever again. good riddence.
That "mean girl" story, she already had rejection issues, which is why she was so mean in the first place. It's a sort of reverse psychology where you try to put other people down to make them desperate for your attention. If they were fully self-aware and could articulate it, they would say "I believe I am worthless, therefore I need other people to be desperate for my approval so that I can feel better about myself."
This naturally leads into other similar behavior, like putting out to anything with a pulse.
Story 1: From another point of view, OP might also have gotten the bully out of a toxic home. Bullying isn't natural, it's learned.
That "smash a boys nuts on a pole" was actually a little common on my HS, the guys knew not to do it hard enough for it to hurt enough for you to go to the nurse, but enough for leave the guy out of combat for a minute or two. They even had a name for it "parto" (give birth on English)
Yeah, first story? Poling? That is straight up violent assault! And it's dangerous. So dangerous, in fact, that the school I attended made it very clear. Anyone caught doing that would not be speaking to the school principal, they would be speaking to the police.
always be sure to check the renter and landlord laws before looking for a place. some laws that apply to me: your deposit is yours if you didnt do damage beyond whats considered normal use; ie you stay in a place for 10 years and the carpet shows it? not your problem. always take picture before and after you leave. the landlord is to provide a livable space, if theres a leak they refuse to fix you dont have to pay rent until it is fixed.

As a former property manager you never ever avoid a leak. A little leak can cause much more damage.
Story 1: Something feels weird, so the bully never spoke to his girlfriend in person for a whole week? really? feels like something normal to say.
Guy: "Sorry, I lost my phone" or "Someone stole my phone"
GF: "But you awnsered my messages?"
Guy: "It's not me, the guy that stole it its texting you!"
GF: "That's creepy!"
At the end they even got his phone back and they have the number of the guy passing as the "gay boyfriend" and they can investigate from there.
It's also standar to inform close contacts that your phone got stolen in case someone is impersonating you.
About the ending what about the rest of the bullies? was this guy even the same one that hit him with the pole? if it wasn't it's a really unsatisfying story.
The last story: The poster's name, CatheterZetaJones, literally made me laugh out loud. I have my earbuds in, listening to rSlash as I clean and my poor dog looked at me like, Great, here we go again, when I laughed. I don't even know why I thought the name was so funny.

I love this. It sounds straight out of some disney movie, even. It just happened that the abuser happened to drop their phone, which was given to OP. If anything like this ever happens to me, I have plans now.
I have mixed feelings about the first story. As many have pointed out, only one bully got punished; but more than that it was in a very homophobic way. I suppose OP can't be blamed for the ills of society as a whole, or the bully's homophobic parents, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
Not great though sounds like OP was a young teen at the time so some of the poor judgement was likely due to that. And yeah, he couldn't know the kid's parents were raging homophobes.
Honestly, I don’t feel bad for the bully. He could of cost OP serious life altering medical complications. So OP had every right to do as he did. If that means that incidentally homophobia comes into play then well that is just karma coming at the bully.
Wendy, if I can, let me point out that with the type of cell in question this would have been the late 90s to early 2000s. Back then, we were more homophobic (at least by today's standards) as a whole. "Gay" and "F**" were commonly used as insults rather than the latter being seen as a slur.
Does this justify it? In no way, just hoping to enlighten as someone who grew up during the same time.
Let me also add, it is wonderful to see how much progress we as a society has come from those days. We still have a way to go, but it is a good start.
The intent wasn't homophobic it was getting the girlfriend to leave him whether she cares about his sexuality or not. OP takes no blame for the fallout.
I feel like OP wasn’t homophobic himself, he just used the fact that society tends to be less accepting of gay people to his advantage (especially in the 90’s).
If the parents had been accepting, and been like “we support you no matter what”, it would have been easy for the bully to disprove the whole thing, but OP bet on humanity sucking and that bet pays out more often than not.

I used to live in Gent, Belgium. Me and my ex rented a small appartment from Agence Rosseel. I knew there were problems with the appartment, but hey, that's why there are laws (I thought). Agence Rosseel didn't really care. They always tried to get rid of their responsibility by simply lying. Since I was prepared I always kept all of our communcation, because I always asked the immportant stuff by email, to get it in writing. So after a few years of sh*t we moved out. They came to check the appartment together with my ex (I wasn't there because I hate bullsh*t and that was the only thing they could). They tried to let my ex sign a paper where the state of the appartment was stated on, but there was no cost mentioned. So she didn't sign. After a few weeks we get a letter which states we have to pay like 1500€ and also lose our bond because of the state of the appartment. Offcourse they tried to let us pay for all repairs they never wanted to do or pay for. So I just took them to the district court. Fun thing is the judge mentioned that they have a ton of cases against Agence Rosseel, all the same stuff like taking advantage from people and lots of illegal stuff, but they just got lots of lawyers that keep everything busy. Since I had almost everything on paper, the entire amount was erased and brought to like 100€. We didn't even have a lawyer since it was so obvious we were in our right. They had one, a funny guy, didn't seem to know everything, which made me giggle and laugh at what he said. It seemed unreal.
It was quite a ride tbh, it can always go sideways. But the moment of glory when the case was over was worth it. So don't get intimidated by those firms. Know your rights and fight for your right (to party?) 🙂
Story 1: If I were OPs parent I'd have sued the bully and his family, I'd have sued the school for letting it happen, and I'd have made it VERY public on both ends.

Story #2, you honestly should have ignored your girlfriend AND recorded all of the information on the sleazy agent, as they will, if not already have, tried this scam, not just on you two, but also on other people, and that they also probably did just as many bad, if not even worse, things with other people, as well as properties, as well. Moreover, the fact that the agent raised the price of the rental property AFTER you had previously agreed to the previous lease is not just merely a bait and switch technique, but that it is also a violation of the original lease agreement, which could alone destroy the sleazy agent in any courtroom with a judge that has more than one brain cell, and it is also potentially a whole bunch of other crimes as well, most notably, fraudulent and deceptive practices, theft, particularly theft by deception, price gouging, extortion, racketeering, and violating numerous local, state, and federal housing codes, as properties that are in violation of such codes absolutely cannot be sold to other people until those properties have those violations corrected. You can also hurt the reputation of the sleazy agent by talking to her boss, and/or the real estate company that she works for, and any local, state, and federal real estate authorities. I know that you and your girlfriend might not want to take the time to sue the sleazy agent in a courtroom, but, depending on how deep the rabbit hole goes, these sorts of things might go as far as to destroy an entire real estate agency, the losses of real estate licenses, and MANY years behind prison walls for the sleazy real estate agent, if there are enough people that she has committed these sorts of acts with to lead to a potential class action lawsuit towards herself.

Op in the first story should have filed charges against the bully and his co bullies and sued them. As to the greedy rental agent when looking at a place to rent you should insist the place be cleaned before signing a lease. Also take time stamped photos before moving in and out to protect yourself.
Story 1: Calling BS. Why would OP not know the name of the bully already? In most schools, everyone knows all the others, at least by sight and if they'd been repeatedly bullied by the older gang, they would already know the names. Also, why would the bully wait a full week before reporting his phone lost? Story does not add up.

Last story: No, that’s EXACTLY what the Landlord thought. That if he did nothing, OP would pay to get it fixed out of pocket.

That 1st story: when I started high school (Australia 1988) that was called Poling. It doesn't hurt that bad, and pretty much everyone in my year had it done to them. It was the standard initiation.
Story 1: OP did that girl a favor tbh. The bully may have been raised by parents who treated him terribly but it's not an excuse for him to choose to vent it out on others by doing the same terrible things as his parents did. I'm 100% sure that he would've treated the girl the same way if they were to get married.
