Its nice to know what artists are really thinking. Tips of how to be a better client are much appreciated .
Absolutely agree
i feel like itâs literally human reaction to check progress though... like theyâre excited theyâre getting a new tattoo, theyâre in awe. i feel like as long as theyâre not disrupting the process itâs cool
BeautyByYae exactly. If youâre paying a whole months rent for a tattoo... youâre allowed too check progress
@@princesseyova5845 They lilterally arew saying that checking the progress zone them out and that DISRUPT THE PROCESS for the artist! why would you want to zone them out of their flow while they are doing their best job on you?
People need to understand when you do that you are moving yourself out of the best working position we have you in. We have to worry about skin stretch, machine speed, position and most importantly the ink staying in the pocket we have created. If you move before the ink settles it can cause a blow out as well as mess up our flow as they called it I define it as muscle memory that I have built up while working on you. Blow outs are a thing and can be caused by the client moving to soon. Best time to check progess is during a break. I usually set up a mirroror my go pro so the client can watch and not have to move. Tattoo artists real ones explain these things to clients if your tattooer just tells you here we go without explaining the proccess you aint nothing but a bill to him/or her.
W Hunt I donât check unless they want to take a quick break. while i understand, i still believe itâs human reaction just like getting your hair done or make up done- itâs a service and you just like to check...đ¤ˇđžââď¸
Bending my life away : thereâs ways you can check without moving a bunch/at all depending on the area.
The next time I get a tattoo, I'll try to remember not to breathe. đ
"Hi can I get a sleeve today? I'm on a time crunch and I only have $300 on me." Insert surprised Pikachu face when I tell them how this works
A genuine line I get frequently. I don't even find it funny any more.
I make the annoying list for my reaction to finished tattoos. I am not very expressive for anything in life, so my reaction to almost everything is very calm. I can't do excited and over the top, I can't gush or get all giddy but doesn't mean I don't love something. I can understand how people not looking very joyful after hard work would be tough to interpret.
My husband is this way! I had to learn that even though if I get him something he has always wanted he is like "oh, awesome. Thanks" I just had to understand not to take it personally and that he more than likely loves it. Good to see there are more people like that.
@@marissayoung8798 I always hated as a child when Christmas or Birthday's meant opening up gifts in front of people. You felt like you had to put on a show or else people got offended and I never really was good at it :)
Iâm like this too. My worst time for this is Christmas when i get a present. I donât know how to act amazingly thankful for a gift haha! I just kinda look at it and say âOh thank you!â Hahaha!
Tips to the people having trouble with responding to being given a gift, here are some ideas of things you can say besides just "thank you". Of course, make sure it makes sense for the gift/situation and that it sounds like something you might normally say:
- "I'll use this!"
- "That was really thoughtful of you."
- "I've been thinking about buying one of these."
- For clothing: Compliment the color or the feeling of the fabric.
- For accessories: Say that it'll look nice with a particular outfit.
- For decorations/useless knickknacks: Mention a place where you might put it e.g. your desk, and say that it'll look nice/cute/whatever there.
- For gadgets: Say that it's cool, interesting, or creative.
- For personal care products: "I'll use this" is probably your best response, but in some cases you could also open the cap to sniff it and then say that it smells good.
- For perfume/cologne: If you like perfume/cologne (personally I hate it, it gives me awful headaches), spray it into the air in front of you to test it and then say you like the smell. But turn to the side, don't spray it at/on the gift giver lol.
- For food: "Ooh I can't wait to try these/this." or "I love these!"
Warning: Saying most of the above statements has a risk of you being given that item all the time in the future, so if you actually hate what they bought you, just stick to "thank you" and/or "that was thoughtful."

Ill try not to be that annoying when I get my tattoo xD đ¤ but I think its just natural the clients are constantly moving or looking specially after one or more hours getting tattooed đ¤ˇđťââď¸. I loved your videođĽ°
I agree some of these things are just human nature, stone sound so picky
Regarding not expressing one's feelings about the tattoo: I always need a bit of processing time, no matter how much I love the tattoo.
Our favs in the studio I work in are
"What's your next available day?" Give them the date
"Is that really the earliest you can do?" Noo we're lying to you...
Or
"Because I want it to be perfect"
Oh really because I was just going to scribble on you...
Oh my god next availability. ALL. THE. TIME.
What's wrong with asking for the next available date?
I'm guilty of peaking, though I tried not to move my arm. I am also guilty of not trusting the artists placement but quickly learned they place for a reason and they know their job, I am just the canvass.
I have learned that before getting inked
A: A good full nights rest.
B: Get up, showered, have a proper meal.
C: BE SOBER FOOLS (of all alcohol and drugs).
Personally I don't bring friends (unless two of us are getting inked together). I feel that unless you are over 18 you shouldn't even be in a shop.
You mean in a tatoo shop.
TLDR Version: DON'T MOVE UNTIL THE ARTIST SAYS YOU CAN MOVE!
Got my first yesterday and I litterally didn't move lmao I was so scare I was gonna fuck it up
The tattoo artist was so so nice and we listened to David Bowie while doing my tat, absolutely great experience and I'm definitely gonna get my second tattoo from him
Your videos made my first tattoo experience amazing. I am addicted to tattoos now. Thank you
Do a video on the most annoying things tattoo artists or tattooers do. Should be able to come up with a big list.
if an artist gets annoyed by their clients checking the process then he or she should probably not work on human body parts but on paper.
my opinion. just let them check it. it's their body.
I canât not watch if the process is in front of me. Like my calf. I watched that from start to finish and loved the entire process.
Jessica Elizabeth Delaney I think the big difference is that youâre not constantly moving and shifting trying to look at it. Sitting still and looking isnât so much the issue.
Your colleages seem super chill! Great video đ
Sorry but Iâm gonna look at the progress, itâs permanent, I wanna make sure itâs going good đđ
If you are that paranoid do you really trust your artist, or your choice to get something permanent on your body?
I like to watch just to see the techniques and stuff, not distrust lol
So glad you had a good summer and you're back!⥠I love you're channel and you! I'm so happy you post videos like this so I know what not to do at a tattoo studio! You're one of my favorite channels!
I just sit there and watch in silence because it's mesmorizing and satisfying as all feck
I've actually had a few artists ask me if they can use me as a canvas đ¤Ł
great video, love the input from other artists, and I know the feeling about not being able to really "read people"
I slept through my tattoo lol. Who in their right mind would want to move around alot while doing a tattoo, those lines can get ruined
Love your style! Hair & makeup=pure perfection
Nice to see a video again. Loved it đ
Yay!! Youre back!â&đ from Cali
Great video Linda! Looking forward to your next one đ
Thank you for the tips. You and your group are amazing.
Love your style! Hair & makeup=perfection
you literally look like the coolest aunt or mom ever lmao!
Your videos are great. On my first tattoo (on the back of my shoulder), I fell asleep in the middle of it and the guy that made it was annoyed that I slouched forward cm by cm the entire time while dozing off. But I didn't know better. Now i try to avoid doig stupid things like reach for my phone or water or moving the entire time. I'm making my sleeve now and the sessions are long but if I need a break I just let my awesome tattoo artist know and we stop for a coffee, water, a bite, whatever. Thank you, those are great tips for prople that don't know how to behave while tattooing.
Congrats on 100k
Love the video
So are we not allowed or we shouldnât be looking at the tattoo that weâre paying a fortune for ?
Love your makeup!
THANKS so much for your most excellent videos, Linda - the very BEST on You Tube by far! I had my first ever tattoo today and your tutorials were extremely helpful indeed ;-)
Great advice, I enjoy your honesty, assertiveness and professionalism. I would fly from the US to Norway for my first Tattoo at age (47). I will keep you and your staff in mind in 2020. Thanks for your videos keep posting learning a lot about Tattoos and the process.
Great video Linda I got my half sleeve done and got the ideas for the bottom of my arm đđ
I love you. Thank gosh I dont look back lol. You are amazing. Keep up the good vibez. Love from Los Angeles, California đşđ
I will follow that advise, didn't realize that constantly looking and moving was annoying but now I do
Busteeed, I love looking at tattoos in progress (not the stencil though) and sometimes I did check tattoos before when the artist would change machines and get more ink. Woops. Not gonna do that anymore even though no artist had ever said anything about it đ
Thanks, EL, from keeping me from being THAT client!
You said it right hahaha, when customers like tattoo but their face expression is comparable to the one that walking dead cast have hahahah. Itâs so confusing. Later on you just go home hating on yourself and wondering what was wrong with the tattoo đ Relatable
Cherrylle Valentine last time i had a 4-hour ribs tattoo . Ta the end, I was fully satisfied by the result and I absolutely loooved it. But I had a zombie/poker face because of the accumulated pain. So my dizzy ÂŤ aha yes , love it Âť was certainly not really Convincing for my tattoo artist đ
Jil-Jane Johnson Ahahahah you know Jil if you did 4 hours of ribs then youâre a champion and I can completely understand. When it comes to the rib tattoos I think that biggest gift from a customer is that they donât move and donât run away after first hour đ
When they touch the tattoo while you're still tattooing it!! (one of my clients licked her fingers then rubbed it)
OMG! Asking for an infection, much? I'm sure then to turn around and blame the artist for the infection đ
@@savannam.7048 she can't coz I give out 2 her explaining she'll get 1 if she keeps doing it.
You guys I have been waiting for an electric Linda video for ever now đ Linda please try asmr your videos are so relaxing
Good to see you back Lindađ big fan from Australia. Your boyfriend is very lucky. You are so gorgeousđ
đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł reaching at the phone
I love videos like this! Common sense to me but some people are clueless eh? LOL!!
P.S. You're so gorgeous Linda!!! âĽâĄâĽ
Makes sense; never get an artist out of their zone.
I'm watching a lot of this kind of videos so i know what not to do when I get my first tattoo
Oh phew I only have 2(done by the same artist) and I havenât done any of these and now I REALLY know not to do it haha thanks for explaining WHY you donât like when people look when youâre getting more ink- I was wondering why and yes it makes sense!
Great video. I just go in, do what Artist says & love the results, I don't fidget or anything, just let Artist get on, I'll be one wearing results so I've never even thought about fidgeting lol
Love your videos...
I do nails and most of what you said in this video nail clients do it too!...
Have a great day my lovely...đŤđ¤đŤ
Hey Electric Linda!!!! I'm not sure if you already did a video on this but your next should be tips to plan a full sleeve tattoo. I'm having trouble putting my pieces together since they are a bit spread out.
You rock and so does your crew!!!!! Thank you for spreading useful information
I'd say plan it with your artist! They're the best person to help with it đ They'll help you create a coherent tattoo from the pieces you've chosen đ
@@marianna3253 thanks so much for that I always chicken out to ask since that is asking a lot from them but I think I will definitely do that
@@shaney215 You should! It's part of their job :)
Thank you for doing these videos I hope to get a tattoo soon and I want to be as least annoying as possible for my tattoo artist.
I am so glad I'm watching this ahead of time for my first professional tattoo. Will not move. Also this will be my first sober tattoo and I'm scared of how bad this will feel haha.
The best with getting a tattoo is making the artist satisfied! Both during and with the result!!! Important to remember it's their job!!!! And the canvas shouldn't move!!!!!! Gzzz!!! I soooo get that you get anoyed!
Watching this before I even reach out to any tattoo artists bc I know how annoying people can be when getting their hair done đ I dont wanna be THAT person
I worked at a job where you were dealing with the public all day long and I admit my biggest gripe was people with BO and, on the opposite end, the people who wear a whole bottle of perfume or cologne... :( Going to be a great weekend since Linda graced us with a video YEAH...! :) đŹđˇâŽď¸
2:19 I think it could be annoying but is totally reasonable, they are the ones getting the tattoo. Gotta make sure is what you want and what you are paying for, maybe there is something that was not talked before or perhaps the client needs to take a second or break. I feel is more than reasonable, can be annoying for the artist definitely, should be avoided at all times, not necessarily
Yâall getting mad about the people who are LITERALLY THE REASON WHY YOUR SHOP IS RUNNING, humble yourself seriously.
Ikr? People are paying them a lot of money to put permanent ink on their bodies. Of course they're gonna look. These people are so arrogant
I like how you call yourself a Tattoo artist. In this industry being called a Tattooer is preferred. I feel like if youâre a Tattooer itâs what you do but if youâre a Tattoo artist you are an artist who does tattoos which elevates the perception you display to clients and the world. This is my opinion. I love all of your videos. I kind of started binge watching them because I like to hear you speak in general. Keep doing you. Itâs a shame I may never make it to Norway to have some work done. đ˘
Iâm sorry you are annoyed when people donât show emotion! Haha, I can be one of those people sometimes. I donât know why, but emotions just donât come out sometimes. I try to force myself to try to emote, but I worry people might be able to tell itâs forced. But I always say what Iâm really feeling with my words though!
Love Linda. You are an awesome woman
First one is the funniest!!
I nearly passed out on my first one so looking at it when they were doing it or at any point, was not an option đ đ
I dunno why but I never move when I watch your videos xd
Wish you were closer to Oregon. Iâd get my first tattoo đ¤đ
Ofc People want to watch The progress! The only time i don't watch is when i lie down.. And I do also think its so facinating with tattoos so i want to watch
Can I get your thoughts on tegaderm? I just recently used it on a smaller tattoo and it was wonderful. Wanna know your thoughts on it in general and for big tattoos
Woah like if i was gonna go get a tattoo from Any of these People after seeing them talking like this, i'd be Hella insecure and just be like :"nah.. Never mind".... Like seriously "the smelly ones"... đ¨ Did they seriously say that?.. Like now i am getting paranoid...
Agree im not even a tattoo artist and these would piss me off đ. I cried when i got my last one my artist though i didn't like but it actually hit me that i got it has it meant alot to me
Good to know đ
I agree with every thing in this video. And is it possible to get a link for the tattoo education..
Patreon.com/electriclinda
I have a half sleeve. All together it was probably nine hours, three sessions. I sit like a rock because my pain tolerance is through the rough. I work in beauty as well, but I havenât started seeing clients yet. So as of now I cannot fathom trying to do someoneâs makeup and every time I stop their face is an inch to the left or an inch to the right. And makeup isnât permanent!! A tattoo is going to be there forever and people are just out here moving around and making it harder for their permanent ink to be in the place where the want it??
Rant over. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Those earrings đđđ
I love her earings
Yeah I saw a lot when I waiting to get my tattoo what people ask tattoo artists to do the most I hate when I over heard people bargain for tattoo so disrespectful donât you think
OKAY so I'm definitely not very good at expressing my feelings, at ALL. The worst thing I know as a client is when the artist says something like "why don't you smile more" or something along those lines. The tattoo is still one of my favorites, and I'm very happy with it, but at the time I couldn't express it. I can't talk for everyone though. I'm just introverted and awkward socially in general, so that's my biggest issue when getting tattooed. I just know my worst fear is that the artist think I'm ungrateful or isn't happy with their work, or don't trust me when I say I love it.
Hi gorgeous. Ya know I really feel for you guys dealing with people that donât care about personal hygiene that really sucks for yâall. Bacteria gets underneath your skin and causes infections right. đ
I don't really check my tattoos. đ But I do tend to stretch my hand or fingers after a while when y'all go for ink.
I also try not to reach for anything.
I literally was a client at a tattoo shop last week. I was hoping I wasnât one of these clients, but I did answer my phone once. My mom called, and then I put it down and never looked at it again.
I know that as a client you have to be respectful towards the artist and trust them completely, that's why you should always do a lot research before deciding on which tattoo artist you want to hire. With that being said, don't you think you are being very negative here? We are only people.. so if you give us coffee, we would like to drink it before it's cold, if it's possible to look at the tattoo without moving we should be allowed to without irritating you and if we need to move a little when you stop tattooing to get more ink because we're in an uncomfortable position we should be able to do that without feeling bad. This is a general note; I feel like I need to remind you sometimes that you need to respect the client as much as the client respects you.
Luckily tattoos relax me, tattoos for me is how people describe massages. A few times i drifted and almost fell asleep while getting tattooed. I just let them get there work down and not move unless asked. I can look once its finish and once its healed
hahahahaha! good to know... i go on january 4th for my tattoo... so i will know what to NOT DO to piss up my tattoo artist!
I love your dreds. Youâre gorgeous.
Uhm so fucking tell them this before you start... Like how tf Are they supposed to know that literally everything annoys you? đđ
Not a fan of walking on eggshells and being judged.
#1 pet peeve for all tattoo artists: client forgets to bring their box of raisins.
Raisins?
@@Frankenzebra yes, a box specifically.
Something my mentor gets asked a lot â can I convince him to stay a little longer? â Bruuuuuuuuh
For some people this video seems to be more like a checklist than a warning
Ppl are annoying âĽď¸
Now I know what to not be like when I go to get my first tattoo
Soon Iâm getting âDonât let the fuckers get you down.â Iâm not going to smile though because the fuckers got me down.
Why do people bring friends to get a tattoo? Not only just because a tattoo is such a personal that only you and your artist should part take in, but because you don't need approval of your friends for a tattoo which you feel is best for yourself, it would be like going to see an artist for a portrait and bringing your friends along, them giggling, possibly distracting the artist, critiquing the artist, it would just be a huge throw off. For me I am a video editor, if I was doing work with a client on a project, I wanted to follow up on how it is going with a meeting, I wouldn't want all of his friends in a meeting laughing and fidgeting while I am trying to revise and work with my client.
Another thing, people expect big, detailed and well drawn tattoos from professionals to be cheap, it is a profession just like every form of art, tattooing is also and art of tradition which has been a thing for 100s of years therefore the people that learn it should charge whatever they wish, and thirdly, why are you getting a tattoo if you can't pay for a professional with a global reputation?
Loooove your videos! I'am a writer and I have a character that is a tatoo artist and I learn so much from you, your videos help me to make him more alive, more like a real tattoo artist!
I love your tattoos đŻđŻ what does your neck tattoo say?
I was actually annoyed at myself with getting my last tattoo. It was only 2 hours but my finger tips to shoulder kept going numb ..on the arm that WASN'T being tattooed! At one point I couldn't even lift it cause it was completely numb. To keep it awake.. every few minutes (about 15 or so) when my tattooist would dip into the ink. I'd use that time just to reposition my arm in one of the two that I could (I had to lay on my stomach for the tattoo) I felt like I was being so annoying but he didn't complain about it. Maybe it's because it was the other arm i moved and not the tattoo arm
âCan I go firstâ

Remember your body is the canvas and the procedure is no different than surgery or going to the dentist. Pick a distracting activity and sit still. I suppose if you got big money you could always install tvs and have then not use phones and such. Some doctors do that. As far as what annoys her it does suck when we put effort in and get crushed by people not caring. On the other side, sometimes we can misread or people or we can be a little shy between each other and not express true feelings even when amazingly positive. Remember to show people you appreciate them. They deserve it.
Now i know what NOT to do when i get my Tattoo đ
I see that you work in Norway. Do you offer tattoo bookings for tourists if they plan earlier and visit? Even if it's just like a small tattoo you plan in a couple of months or so? I never heard anyone talk about tourists visiting to get tattoos done from their favorite far away artists.
They do, I got 15 of my tattoos there and you just have to book early enough and be a little flexible
@@anjaresch8845 Thank you! Do they also speak English though?
Nurdieh Iâm not trying to be rude, but they all just spoke english in the video...so...why would you ask something like that???
Because I wouldn't fly to Norway and demand they speak English haha. It's their country so I wasn't sure if they also cater to English speakers as well. Not rude at all. :) I also looked at their shop online and it wasn't in English so I wanted to make sure.
@@nurdieh But again.. They spoke English on this video. đ
