Just to add a little advise that some people won't think of but I am a nurse. I have a hard time starting an iv on some people who have tattoos in places like hand or anicubital. I admire the tattoo and don't want to mess them up by sticking an iv in that spot and possibly damaging the tattoo. Just something to possibly think about when placing a tattoo

Oh yeah a tiny tattoo in the middle of a back definitely looks weird. But I really love patchwork sleeves and I'm almost there with my arm and both my legs :P

Usually the most time I spend considering my next tattoo is where I’m gonna put it. I’m for sure saving my forearm for a sleeve so I’ve been putting big beautiful pieces on my thighs and calf.

I do see where you're coming from Electric Linda, about putting tiny tattoos in the middle of large canvases. I don't have any tattoos, but I have been planning them out. I have no intention of getting full sleeves, but rather, I want to have several smaller tattoos all over my body, and most of these will be on my limbs.

Just for anyone else who sees this, remember plans change. I never thought I would have any visible tattoos, and I suddenly went from one on my back to two. And now I wish I had more carefully laid them out. They are both large, but both my arms are covered and I have significant work on my legs just like you carefully consider attached to the art. I sit with it for a period of time really think about your placement especially if it’s your first tattoo.

My first tattoo was a very meaningful quote tattoo at age 17. I got “I am mine” in my moms hand writing. It’s a short version for “I am mine before I am anyone else’s” a quote by Nayyirah Waheed. For me it means basically exactly what it says. I am mine therefore I own myself and am in charge of myself. However I got it just below my collarbone and can’t see it unless I tilt my head and pull my skin down. And even then I can’t see the full thing. I love the tattoo and don’t regret it but sometimes wish I got it just over my heart on my chest as I never plan to get chest pieces and I could’ve been able to see it simply by looking down. My second tattoo is my birth year 2001 on my ankle. This time I planned the placement. I made sure it shows when I have high top shoes on and that it shows if I roll up my pants. I also made sure it was an area I could see it. At first they placed it on the side and I had them change it because I didn’t wanna turn my foot so far to see it. The final placement ended up being half on the side of my ankle and the second half ending towards the front. The 2 starts just above my side ankle bone and the 1 ends in the center front. I don’t have to turn my foot really to see it. I love the placement and I’m glad I thought about how it’ll look with shoes and pants

Mine are all “motives,” the first three up my spine, now on my arms and hands.the last and largest on my back will need to be redone (again) - the disappointment (and having a baby) led me to take a break. I’ve found a wonderful artist through my brother that owns a studio with his wife with artists capable of almost anything. He’s always attentive to my ideas and “whys,” AND he’s always honest about size, color, you name it on how things will fit, how large something needs to be to keep optimum detail in future years.
I so appreciate your straightforward talks and your not being condescending is refreshing. Your vocation calls for people of confidence, and it sucks to be talked to like a baby about something one cares so much about. Being told things won’t work or need to be tweaked with honesty and courtesy is easier to hear , and you can go away loving your tattoo more instead of feeling stupid for thinking of it.
    Long story short: you Rock.
Thanks, and keep slinging that beautiful ink✌🏼

So nice of you to take time to share your expertise and thoughts about tattooing. I don't even have a tattoo yet but this very question is something I have been wondering about. I had considered getting one on my upper R chest where I had a chem port, wanted a lotus there. But now I've decided that I want to see my tattoo all the time and not just in a mirror or from a strange angle from twisting my neck. So my plan is to get one on my inner forearm and I think it will be a decorative line drawing with a small lotus at the end towards my wrist.
Hope you are having a great last day of January. Ha det till the next time!

I got my first tattoo when I was 19, of the tasmanian devil on my right shoulder. At 30 I had been running with the devil so long that I thought it was time for more positive influence, so I got my second tattoo of an angel on my left shoulder. Since then I've gotten a Gemini dragon on my upper arm and Cthulhu on my bicep both on the left. Now at 58 I think I'm doing good and evil sleeves.

I heard some guys in town talking the other day. One works at the tattoo parlour here (it has an awful reputation) and was telling the other he'd give him, I dunno if it's like blacklight tattoos or glow in the dark? They used a lot of slang and I'm terrible at understanding it. But the guy said he'd "make him light up like a glowstick". Point is, I was wondering - is that safe? Blacklight tattoos, I mean. My bro said he'd heard you can get some nasty scarring from it, but I'd imagine the same is true of any tattoo if you don't take care of it. Is it more likely to cause a scar than other inks? The idea seems really cool, and I would ask the artist in town but the parlour's reputation is really awful so I'm not sure I trust it that much.

I'm only 14 but I already have a tattoo I'm gonna get right away when I turn old enough to get one. I'm going to get the name of my best friend from elementary school and the date she died of breast cancer. I just need to figure out where to get it, at first I was thinking of getting it on either my wrist or my ankle because I like the it looks, but then I thought of getting it on the inside of my bicep, I was thinking about it as a symbolic sort of thing. Mostly because when I think of being strong, I think of flexing my bicep or something like that, and it's kind of just to show how strong she was, etc. But I'm too indecisive so I'm probably gonna need those extra couple years before I'm old enough, to decide.

Andrea M. Most tattoo artists refuse to “copy” the work of another artist. They either do flash (premade designs, many of which are shared amongst shops) or custom work.
Probably your best best is to look up her portfolio and show your favorite to a local artist, get a tattoo with her work as the inspiration.

I thought about this as well, you should at first contact her (officially not in a CZcams comment) if she would be interested in that and if she says yes talk to a Lokal artist of yours if he/she would also be interested in this agreement. Then the three of you can work out the Agreement... something like paying her the amount she charges for designing and your Lokal artist “just” the Money for tattooing cause he/she doesn’t have to do the designing...it’s not really a copy if both artist know the deal and talked to each other and the design is specially designed to be tattooed on YOU by the one specific artist of yours

@@freelittlegirl1086 that was so long ago. It doesn’t matter where I contact her,I wanted to buy her art then find someone to tattoo it. I did nothing wrong. Tattoo artists do not like coping what they see already tattooed.

I've got a memorial portrait of my dad on my forearm. It's always upside down to my point of view. Other people see it upright and normal. Only I have trouble seeing it. It's also a bitch to photograph your own forearm.

Hi, I searched this video specifically. I am in the process of designing a memorial tattoo for my lost babies. The thing is, I want it below my collarbone. Now, here's the problem, I have very large, natural breasts and so they are a different shape depending on whether or not they are in a bra. How would you go about working around that issue? Xx

Actually I'm getting my first tattoo really soon and it's going to be a rose (length is about 7 to 8 centimeters) and i chose to place it on the ribs with the stem pointing down towards my hip, my tattoo artist never said it was a bad idea, so i guess it's okay 😊
I hope it helped! Take care 🌹

The body has natural shapes. Look at what the shape of the body part is first. Then the art should rest into that natural shape.
The thigh is great for verticals. Inner thigh is horizontal. Same as the back. Left to right across the shoulders.

I disagree. I have a patchwork sleeve where every single small tattoo means a very specific thing.
Sometimes you can't fit everything into a single tattoo.
