      Amanda Hebert You should ask your artist what he/she recommend. Tbh I don’t think it’s that important. Ofc you have to do the aftercare properly but since everyone says something different I don’t think it matters that much what you decide to do

      I had the same experience, what I ended up doing was just listening to my body and act accordingly. For the majority of the time I just constantly washed it and only applied bits of moisturizer when it felt too dry. It turned out stunning!!
      So rather find sort of your own way according to what your body tells you
      Good luck! 😄

      I hate it too because you hear "Listen to your artist" but that's a frustrating answer. You want to pick up stuff before hand and be confident while every artist says totally conflicting advice. I want some science backed answers rather than "here is 100 lotions, I only believe in this one but have never tried the other 98 nor do I know the chemical differences"...

    Another reason to use sunblock or keep them out of the sun is that cancerous spots are more difficult to see on tattooed skin

I know that doesn't work for everyone, but it does for me. I keep it out of the sun as much as possible and always use sunscreen. I appreciate your advice, thank you.

    The best and easiest after care for my tattoos starts with covering the fresh tattoo with a clear self adhering sterile biofilm. It is the same material used by doctors for covering wounds to promote healing and monitor for infection. You leave it on for two to three days. After gently removing it, you wash the tattoo with antiseptic soap and water and use your aftercare products of choice. For me I have found a thin layer of Aquaphor to work the best! My tattoos have healed the fastest with this method.

Good suggestions in your video, appreciate it! I just chatted with my tattoo artist though and she said no plastic foils after 3 hours and make sure it’s breathing. She said nothing about wrapping it up when going out or sleeping or anything for the first 2 days, which is right??? But confused there... Wish I saw this video a few weeks ago. I recently got a tattoo fixed that I had done 3 or 4yrs ago by someone else and all the artist did was wrap it in plastic, tell me to wash it with antibacterial soap and make sure to use lotion. No specifics. Like how long to keep it wrapped and how often do I wash it and what temperature the water should be. I basically just winged it and thankfully it turned out ok. Won’t be going back to him though.

    Hello Linda. I got my foot tattoo 3 days ago and it's not oozing anymore. I keep it moisturized, no sock, no shoes. Haven't left the house since I got back from tattoo session. My question is, what kind of shoes you recommend for going out? Mind that I live in Poland and it's September and it's getting cold. Do you rcommend plastic wrap for going out? I also work out at home, mostly upper body now, do you think I can wear a sock (inside out to avoid the seam rubbing) as a protectove barrier? Or should I plastic wrap it? I am basically pretty against plastic wrap, it seems to me like a nasty, suffocating trap for bacteria. I would prefer to wear just a sock and clean the foot immediately after workout. As I said, the tattoo is not oozing anymore, so the fibers from the sock wouldn't get stuck to it (if so, they would get stuck to moisturizer and get washed off...). I read through web but there are so many opinions, ideas, stories, I am confused as hell and the thing is stressing me out.
    Thank you for all the videos, very helpful!

    Thank you for this, I got a tattoo on the second and even though it's my 8th it's healing differently... I got a tattoo in February and I notice that once in a while I will get bumps on it (almost like a clogged pore). I usually accidentally scratch it and it bleeds but the tattoo seems ok. It doesn't happen to any other tattoo. Do you know what this could be or am I just weird?

    • @CRIMSON-FLAME1
      @CRIMSON-FLAME1 Před 5 lety

      Sometimes I get pores on my skin from sweating from work and natural oils that come from your skin during the day. I would just wash that particular part of your body a little bit more.
      I used to have a similar problem a couple years ago with my right arm for some reason and I came to the conclusion that I am right handed so maybe I wasn't washing my right arm thoroughly enough. In other words I'm not left handed and therefore I wasn't getting spots on my right arm as easily as my left.
      I just got my first sleeve yesterday but for about a month I prepped and washed my right arm very well so no pores would be open when I went to get the line work done and everything is going good so far. Next appointment will be color and shading.

    I wish I knew this before I got my tattoo. It turned out well. But I think from having the plastic on for so long and it was wet the inside of the butterfly looks smudgy and the purple isn’t as colorful as when he finished with the tattoo. So I believe it was my fault with the plastic. He didn’t have a portfolio of his work I basically walked in and got the tattoo. But he did do a great job on focus and being a little chatty I’m not chatty at all lol you would be like the next artist I’d love to get my next tattoo from. I love your honesty, your professionalism, your style. You basically just won a fan lol

    Can you recommend any tattoo cream during first few day. Bepanthan ointment is too thick to put on whilst wet

    So in my region during the summer it's just sun, sun, and more sun followed by 115 degree heat. I'm guessing I should wait until it's gets colder and the sun isn't a human slow cooker before getting my tattoo?

    • @Futu06
      @Futu06 Před 6 lety

      Yes. :D On one hand, you want it to be warm enough to be able to not wear any clothing on the tattoo, or wear very loose clothing when you're at home. This is because during the first week or two, depending on how fast you heal, what can happen is that fabric can get stuck to new scabs forming and rip them off prematurely, or too tight fabric can rub against and irritate the tattoo, worst case leave behind fibers. So no clothing if you can, or just loose clothes. On the other hand - if you do need to go outside, it's best if it's not killer temperature so that you could have the healing tattoo covered by (not too tight) clothing. And another thing to consider is that the hotter it is, the easier it is for swelling or infection to set in. If you live somewhere typically very sunny and hot during the summer, I'd recommend getting tattooed in the autumn or spring (or winter, if it doesn't get super cold).

    A thing i've been wondering- When can your start applying sunblock on a fresh tattoo? I suppose you shouldn't while it's very fresh but can you use it before it's fully healed?

    I was wondering if you know Bepanthen/Bepanthol and what is your opinion on it? I have two tattoos, the first one I got in Spain and the second one in the Netherlands and both my tattoo artists recommended it (and I've used it for both) but I've read online that other tattoo artists really hate it and don't recommend it at all. Same with wrapping your tattoo in plastic foil, a lot of artists say you shouldn't do it but that's what I was told for both my tattoos.

    Hi! Thanks for the video😍 what about showering? How many days after i get a tattoo, can i take a shower? And is it ok to take with a plastic on it?
    Also, what about shaving? With what should i shave it? Razor? Depilatory cream? Laser?
    Thankss💖

      @dark-thoughts Před 4 lety +1

      You can and should shower the next day. Take the plastic wrap off first and wash your tattoo in the shower. And not sure what you mean by shave it with? You shouldn't shave the skin over a tattoo until its fully healed.

    Current artist aftercare is 3-4 days of A&D ointment with 3-4 washings with antibacterial soap. Then a good lotion (I use Lubtiderm) to heal the rest of the way. Bout the same instructions I got 25+ years ago when I started getting tattooed.
    I was rough on my first tattoos, working construction building swimming pools, vermiculite dust and blazing sun. Surprisingly even some white ink frm back then has survived.

      Saniderm is amazing and helps you skip the whole scabbing process unless you are getting a big piece with a lot of color. Mine always fills up with plasma and leaks so I end up having to remove it after one day.

But he does black and grey and I do color. It’s two weeks old now though and almost fully healed beautifully 😭

    Every tattoo artist that has tattooed me gave me specific after care instructions. I've never had a lazy one that just said "put this on and keep it clean"...has anyone ever had one that didn't give specific instructions? Lol. But good advice! I was told to use baby soap as well like J&J or specific after care tattoo ointment
