  • Apple just announced their new event which is going to take place on May 7th at 7:00 AM PT. And the event is pretty much all but confirmed to feature new iPads, so let me tell you everything you can expect for this event including a new M3 iPad Pro with an OLED display, powerful M3 chip, new Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, and more... as well as a new iPad Air with a 12.9 inch size.

I had an iPad Air 2022, and my battery life was all day. I guess I’m glad that I didn’t upgrade! It was a 256 GB, Wifi Only, Starlight color model.
      -
I don’t know if there’s any accessories that drain more power, and if so, I don’t want them anymore! If it’s because it’s a cellular model that could make sense why it drains a lot faster. It shouldn’t be that fast though!
      -
I know editing drains a lot of battery though, so I can see how it drains that fast from that standpoint. Especially when combined with cellular capability, and two or more accessories at the same time.

@@goldbrick2563 Battery life largely depends on screen on time. I have the M2 12.9 inch ipad pro and use it at school (I'm a teacher) for presentations with Powerpoint, work in Goodnotes, Word and Excel. My screen is pretty much permanently on during the school day (in my case about 5 to 7 hours) and streaming this screen to Apple TVs that are our airplay recievers for the smart panels we use. So it is a work horse. Also, I work a lot on it at home, with a similar workload as the school day plus some work in affinity photo and affinity designer.
So, in short, it gets about 9 hours of screen on time and after that, it has about 30% power left.

I’m conflicted between the power and future proofing the air comes with but then I also do prioritise portability massively ever since I got a 13 mini. I don’t really care much for 120 hz. It’s great to have but not a compulsory feature. These android Mfs make it to seem like a big deal. I’ve had and owned a pixel 7 pro which was great but then when you look at the polish of UI on iOS you barely notice the 60 hz being laggy of any sort.

As a pilot we really need an ipad mini that won't overheat in 100 degree temps in direct sunlight after 30 minutes without added $150 fan case. Apple has to figure this out for all their Ipads as many producer friends of mine who also use them in filming for the cam or preview monitors constantly battle the heat with them in the summer.

      @agthegoat26 Před 10 dny +4

Bro… what? The iPad mini never overheats for me. You really are testing the limits by using it in that type of climate; I rarely use my devices in that climate because I know it will overheat and damage the internals. An iPhone will also overheat in this climate. It’s not unique to the iPad mini; there is no fix for that aside from natural shading. Direct sunlight will always beat down on a device especially in hotter climates! Like us humans, if we don’t get shade or any form of cooling down in 100 degree weather and we push ourselves we will overheat and pass out eventually!

The problem with the iPads is that, while it's getting some hardware upgrades, on the software level it's limited by Apple and that limits 3rd Party developers who cannot deliver a software utilizing the hardware. Like, look at Adobe Lightroom. On an M1, M2, M3 iPads we are still getting the Mobile version (with lacking features) that can even run on low end phones.
While, you can get a Surface Pro with extendable storage, where you can run Lightroom CC although with some performance trade off.

We literally don't know that this is for the Pros.
How do we know it's not just for an updated pencil. That's what Tim Cooke suggested and that's what the promotional material alludes to as well. How do we know that May 7th at 7am doesn't mean an iPad Mini 7?

I might just get a m3 pro MacBook Pro. It’s cheaper than iPad Pro at 1TB

Final chance to do what? Continue dominating the tablet market? Continue being the only tablet anyone actually buys?

It's never about the hardware...it's how poor the OS has been that killed it

I used to own iPads, but all of them became useless once they stopped providing updates. I never bought another one ever since. I would would reconsider if we could put Mac OS on their instead of iPad OS.

I don't want thin but easy user replaceable batteries using some standard designs so one can have some competition and get those batteries cheaper.
It's time for Europe to make a new law - in the same style they did when forcing apple to use USB-C

  • @Everyday-man

No one wants their ipad pro thinner. This means that it could bend even easier, and that heat of the m3 could be even more of an issue

Thin-ness usually means weaker and harder to repair. It will be interesting to see how their engineers deal with with it.
I'm surprised they are going for so thin given every iPad pro I see in use has a chunky cover to protect it's delicacy.
The M3 will make it fly! :-)

While I really want a new iPad Pro - thinner is not better. I'd rather have a more powerful iPad than thinner. But, that's just me. Let's see what actually happens at the event. The Mac Minis could also use an update although the art for the event make that seem less likely.
iPad sales are declining? Let's make them even more expensive. LOL

I am gholding my breath for the extremely slim chance Apple bring out the iPad Pro with M4. I know that seems crazy but the new AI on chip features will make M3 obsolete in a few months. It will also start a new super cycle. But it is a slim chance and I expect a lot of bummed out M3 iPad Pro owners in a few months when they realise they have an obsolete device

It is hilarious how all these Apple reviewers expect all these upgrades from Apple and in the end they launch the same product launched since 2018. 😂😂😂

A 12.9-inch iPad Air would be great, but iPad Pro sales will tank consequently, because what's the point of spending all that money on an iPad Pro that in software terms cannot do anything more than an iPad Air due to the limitations of iPad OS. I will not be surprised if there is no new iPad Mini at this event, as it has always been on a slower refresh cycle than the rest. For me, the iPad Mini is the only iPad that makes any sense. There would be no need for an iPad Pro if Apple produced a Mac OS Tablet / 2 in 1 laptop.

Please stop for a moment and think about how you will use your new iPad Pro. Yes, the one you are thinking about buying. The one Apple will announce on May 7th. If you are just watching CZcams, streaming movies, and browsing, and chances are, YOU WILL, then you can save yourself a couple hundred bucks and get the non-Pro version. You know I am right.
