I think Gillespie would be a great hire. His work on I, Tonya alone is an indicator that he can bring out the inner anger and angst for this version of Supergirl. Not only that he has proven he can work well telling female led stories. Having directed two star female actors already. Plus he is also Australian which could help create a bond with Milly. I love that James is Starting with Superman and Supergirl on the big screen. That's already a win for me starting this universe.

I heard this week that it’s confirmed that the Fantastic Four will be set in another universe , at the end of that movie, they won’t bring their entire universe with them to the main MCU…the shalabal SS is probably the version/variant of that OTHER univers …Norin Radd will show up later 👍🏽
Why not reverse that. Have the most popular version first ? Then bring in the ancillary character versions ? Makes zero sense .

As a big Silver Surfer fan growing up, he was my Spiderman basically. I am annoyed at the casting as of now. I totally hear everyone saying not so fast it's an alternative universe and Norrin might still be in there and I hope so but we can only go off what we know so far. Lakeith playing Silver Surfer would be radd. He would bring something great to the role although maybe wasted on a mostly CG character.
I agree , it makes no financial sense, it alienates long time fans of the character , etc. The people defending this fail to realize she was barely in the comics in comparison . That justifies the replacement? It’s such crap.
Hi Shannon, regarding Julia Garner - no wrestlemania grudge match intended here but the characters you mentioned in Ozark and Inventing Anna, are (in my view) supposed to be dislikeable and shouldn't resonate with the audience.
So in a way, she actually did everything required if you felt and thought that way about those characters/roles. However I feel the same way about Jennifer Lawrence except for her roles in Silver linings and American hustle. I'm always pulled out of a movie because I don't see the characters she plays, I just see Jennifer Lawrence. 🤷🏾♂️
So maybe Julia Garner is your version.

Folks are too caught up on a couple bumps on Sam Raimi's long road of success, imo (which is not to say that he escapes all blame for the flaws of MoM, which is a movie I love). And yes, Shannon, I DO want James Gunn to direct an Avengers movie.

I think that Silver Surfer controversy is stupid, so stupid, in fact, that I think Marvel should double-down and cast Anya Taylor-Joy as Norrin Rad.

Given that MCU has had a string of disappointments lately and courting unwanted attention, would it not make more sense to choose the path of least resistance and make Silver Surfer a male character? Make a good FF4 movie and get the fans back, and then down the line, bring in a female Silver Surfer. With the current casting, isn’t this just putting more unwanted pressure on the filmmakers and cast?

I think poor writing is why Dr strange 2 didn't go well just like other Marvel films. No communication and lackluster writing. Think Raimi can do it with good writers
