Gambit returning as the Horseman of Death is gonna be heartwrenching
I lost both my parents , that scene with Scott, Jean and Cable had me tearing up ahd cried seeing your reaction, this really is peak Marvel.
In the comics, Jean and Scott's consciousness are willed 2,000 years into the future by their time-displaced daughter and end up raising Nathan for 12 years under the guise of two individuals named "Slym" and "Redd." They help train him to defeat Apocalypse. This happens in the early 90s miniseries "The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix."
Dude it was crazy when Morph turned into Reed... literally seconds before that I was thinking in my head "Okay we've seen all the Avengers etc, do the F4 exist in this universe also?" hahaha asked and answered
It was kiiiiinda accepted that all the Marvel cartoons that ran in the 90s, all inhabited the same universe. The F4 had a cartoon that ran alongside the Iron Man cartoon in an hour-long timeslot. All of them inhabiting the same universe was pretty much implied through different crossovers, like Iron Man crossing over with the Spider-Man and Hulk shows at separate times, and then F4 also crossing over into those shows at other separate times. Closest we got to a full-blown crossover including all these different heroes, was the "Secret Wars" adaptation in the Spider-Man show, which featured Iron Man, Captain America, Storm and the F4 from their respective shows.... Though it should be noted that when the F4 showed in "Secret Wars", they were redesigned and only one cast-member from the F4 show reprised his role.

This show did what the OG X-men show and Spider-Man animated series never did in their time, show that this is the Marvel UNIVERSE! They’re not just Easter eggs reacting with surprise, they’re actually dealing with the fallout of these worldwide threats that truly impact all of the heroes and villains of the world.
As someone who's Jewish, Magneto specifically using the word "pogrom" is so affecting. And I love Storm's reaction to The Phoenix. And we’re even getting Nate Grey! I guess we also know how Gambit’s coming back. Next season is going to be _wild!!!_
Why does this show go so HARD?!
Music and the ages of them made me think that was Vietnam War off the top.
Cyclops, this whole season, had such good dialogue. Loved when he tells Logan "Don't you dare break her heart. Be the best at what you do....heal"...he knows how much he cares for her, and is the bigger man in that moment knowing it's what he needs to hear. Also Morph turning into Jean and telling Logan he loves him, was not only something he knows Logan needed to hear from her, but also kind of putting his actual feelings out there even though we know Logan loves him as a brother.
Also, the aliases for Magneto in his file are great easter eggs: Ian M & Michael F

I think just about everyone fell for the mr. fantastic morph gag/Easter egg (actually happen to me more than once since i binged 5.5 episodes here the night before last), but yeah so many cool cameos this whole finale.
Really stuck the landing X-Men 97, and overall amazing. Charles and Erik scenes inside Erik's mind was so wrll written and played. And Scott and Jean projecting to Cable to say goodbye? Man...
You are absolutely right Rocha. I've lost both my parents. Never got to say goodbye to my papi when he was taken from us by an accident in the workplace. I was 17.
My mom was taken by cancer as she was just starting to enjoy her retirement. We had difficult couple of months as she came to terms with the next step, my sister and I also taking care of her on hospice having difficult conversations and more difficult to accept that summer she'd leave us too, treatment was not going to be a possibility. Not sure if we properly said goodbye in her final moments, but it did fall to me to tie up lose ends. She wanted to return home to Mexico, she decided on cremation, and I would follow the plans laid out before the diagnosis to help her move back. And my next unplanned step was to stick it out in Mexico for a bit... I'm still here

If I remember correctly, Angel turning into Archangel happened in the original series. It was a long time ago so I could be wrong.

Please John do a reaction for at least the best of the X-men animated series. Unfortunately not all the episodes are great, and probably only the best would draw views. Luckily most episodes are stand alones, except when they are marked as multiple part.

John, I'm just curious are you posting the Jedi Way to Spotify anymore? I haven't been able to find the last 3 episodes. Keep up the great work brother. I feel the same about the interaction between Scott & Cable. I did get to say goodbye to my father in his last hours. Very emotional.
I really hope you'll be able to watch the original series before season 2. Even though you have a pretty deep knowledge of the X-Men from the comics, I think watching the original show is worth it to deepen your appreciation for these particular versions of the characters and flesh out the stories.
Pretty sure the opening is set in the 1960's. This is based on the music playing. Magneto wasa child in the 1940's.

Magneto wasted time with the Asteroid--should have gone after Bastian immediately for payback--the one responsible for Genosha and personally humiliated Magnus. Magneto seems cowardly waiting for the X-Men to handle Bastion and not even attempting to do it himself...
