    Michael Vogel’s take on the Erik and Charles coming out scene was a very interesting take. And without Someone like Beau DeMayo, coming from the background he has, working on this show, I doubt we’d get that nuance and verisimilitude.
    This was my favorite scene of the episode.. even as a heterosexual cis male.. the emotion in this scene hit me.

      Bruh same. We couldn’t have gotten that emotion without someone from Beaus background. While at moments I was like “are they about to kiss??” I’ve had similar conversations with friends and it’s so deep. You know these men really love each other despite their disagreements and at times animosity.

    As someone who's Jewish, Magneto specifically using the word "pogrom" is so affecting. And I love Storm's reaction to The Phoenix. And we’re even getting Nate Grey! I guess we also know how Gambit’s coming back. Next season is going to be _wild!!!_

      And I love it for it. They are leaning into Magneto's history. We see his camp tattoo, he talks about one measure leading to another which eventually lead to camps. They don't shy away from the reality of these character's past.

      That's one thing I love about this show. The core of what makes these characters themselves is celebrated not shunned or made shy of. It would be very easy for them to say let's not lean into Magneto's Jewishness given the war going on currently but they didn't. And for Nightcrawler they didn't have to show him performing The Lord's Prayer with Charles and Eric when it looks like they're going to die but Nightcrawler's Catholic faith is a core element to his character and that's something he'd 100% do. I love that this show isn't scared to let the characters being themselve

The moment where magneto speaks about how Rogue left him and Charles left him… everyone abandoned him even his parents. It spoke to me so much. The fear of abandonment can be a destroyer of our internal/mental world and our relationships. I LOVE that Magnetos abandonment trauma literally almost killed the earth. My God this writing…

    Great show, fellas. X-Men '97 was too fire. I'm really gonna miss it.
    Loved how much DAREDEVIL we got in this. I feel like Marvel has been quietly building buzz around DD for the last couple of years. He's big in that soda promotion right now. Big in the X-men finale. There's clearly been a desire to get the live action show right. I also feel like they want DD to be part of a 'smaller' Spidey 4, opposed to the multiversal characters.
    DD has always been my favorite Marvel character and I'll be stoked if he becomes a major anchor of the MCU going forward.

  • @Grimbear13
    @Grimbear13 Před 15 dny +2

    I said it as I was watching the episodes. The end of episode 7 was the first time I was ever like "Sorry Charles Erik's way seems like the only way." But then once Charles was back to reiterate the scenario and the stakes I was like "Oh right.. while Magneto's path seems like the correct and justified path it's also the easy one and even easier to slip into when you're in a state of anger or rage." And idk bout everyone else... but I know if I'm upset or angry I tend to not make the best judgements or decisions lol. So yeah while Charles really does have the pure idealism view of it... it is what we should strive towards. I think by the end of all of this Scott will be the middle ground of the two of them and be the perfect leader. I'm not sure now if they're going to do the extremist Cyclops like it looked like they were doing earlier in the season. Also my predictions of Gambit coming back as the Horseman Death in S3 is right just happening in S2 and my guess/dream that Onslaught was coming I think is still gonna happen just now instead of S2 it'll be a S3 thing.

    So...i watched first 3 and a half eps over past few weeks (after trying to binge all of the old x-men animated series that i really only watched in bits back in the day after the first season) then yesterday afternoon/evening binged x-men 97. So worth it!
    I stopped reading the x-men comics around 2000 (though still would read some of the x title tpbs every now and then) so my x-men nostalgia is mostly from the 80s to early 90s. X-Men 97 was an amazing way of hitting the right buttons for me while adding some of the newer 2000s stuff seamlessly, streamlining confusing plotlines while honing in emotionally charged important human drama and social commentary. And the animation definitely was stellar while not blowing any budgets and deadlines.
    Thanks muchachos for your amazing insights and breakdowns (need to catch up with your other reviews), this was an amazing finale and revival, miles above the original series and probably might be one of the best animated series out there right now.

You said the Israel/Palestine conflict was super complex and centuries old. Do you just enjoy being ignorant on issues you clearly know nothing about? Does the historical record offend you? Do always throw tantrums and run away like a coward from facts? Well then, if you don't agree that it's actually 75 years old and is a simple issue of settler colonialism, please let Professor Norman Finkelstein, Ilan Pappe, John Pilger, Mouin Rabbani, Max Blumenthal, Gabor Mate, Miko Peled, Lowkey, Omar Baddar, Raz Segal, Richard Medhurst and Rahnia Kalek, know that they're all wrong and YOU Mr John Rocha the proficient scholar and historian and student of Aaron Rupar, is right? I'm sure you would have no problem convincing these well read and well educated people that their undisputable understanding of Palestine is incorrect.
    For the record I'm with you on Bill Maher. I don't like him either, I just thought you would be man enough to admit you're wrong about a topic you don't understand. An open-minded grown man would use that opportunity to enrich his knowledge and respond with "Thanks. I'll have a look". It's clear you have no interest. It explains your complicit silence of genocide and your undying loyality to the President and political party funding and supporting that genocide.
