I was a kid back then, like 12 or 13 years of age, and only once out of pity I bought him a loaf of bread. Fast forward 2 months, a group of stray dogs were going around the town and would often attack people. I was unfortunate enough to get attacked by them when I was going to buy groceries. The homeless dog I mentioned was around the store and as I was running my ass towards the store he jumped between me and the dtray dogs and would literally defend me until the dogs left. It sat there, like half a meter in front of me, barking and jumping any of the dogs that were approaching. That dog literally defended me from being mauled by the strays. I always bought him a loaf of bread out of my allowance daily ever since then, and would often do the same for similar dogs. About 3 or 4 years after that incident I couldnt find the dog anymore. The store owner said that it passed away, I was heartbroken, but still respected him and always will as long as I will remember him. Respect your local homeless dogs. They're beings struggling to live aith scraps on the streets, but while some might be aggressive, many of them are very friendly. Give them a piece of something, be it some meat or bread, just to help their hunger. You never know when a small act of kindness will turn around to help you.
You know what's even more sad? It's that, there was a group of dogs who sit in a parking lot near my house, I felt bad for them so I used all the money I had (I was pretty young at the time like 11-12) to buy lots and lots biscuits and than I found a big bucket near a garbage bin so I get water from a mosque near by, filled the bucket with water and walked to the parking lot which was really exhausting but I did it. Than I wanted to feed the dogs obviously but everytime I got close to then they'd back off, so I out the bucket near a poll and than went a bit far and than I opened the packet of biscuits, but cuz I was clumsy they went everywhere on the floor, I picked up one of them and than walked a bit closer to the dogs and they all ran away like I had a gun in my hand..few seconds realizing they probably thought I would hit them with rock, cuz they've seen other creatures like me picking up something of the ground and 99% of the time it's to hurt them 😢 I was heart broken, I opened all the packet of biscuits and than just spread them out the bucket was next to it and I just went away.
