The Joker trailer was the winner of Cinemacon with 176 million views for the trailer,the biggest since Barbie,but Deadpool really got a lot because of the Superbowl.
John Campea said gladiator 2 footage was not good and Disney presentation was the best. Jeff “ gladiator was the best and Disney presentation was the worst” so crazy how taste can be so different lol. Glad to hear the different perspectives.
I mean, disney didn't have new announcements and paramount probably had the most, so by a news perspective (as he's a reporter) i understand

Campea feels Ridley hasn’t made anything worthy since The Martian. I loved Napoleon and i’m bummed that Apple has shelved the 4 hour cut.

@@thomasedwards6641 i know, but also press are there (for some reason, frankly it should *just* be for exhibitors) so they are going to prioritize elements that are useful to THEIR business (not to speak for jeff, I am just speculating)
I'm definitely in Jeff's camp of not having like a 30 min clip at these conventions. I don't want to have like 1/4, 1/3 of a movie spoiled for me when I can't watch the rest of it. Just knowing large chunks only to be unable to finish? Doesn't that sound like cinematic edging?? Oof...
When I saw Jeff on ICON Batman series I was like Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV 😂😂😂😂

I dont understand how anyone can say announcements are more exciting than actually showing you things.
Any studio can say they making something (which could also be canceled) but actually seeing footage lets you see if its worth being excited over
The Sequel Trilogy has shown us you don't change directors in a trilogy.
Silly thing to say. The OG Star Wars trilogy had different directors for each movie and is one of the best trilogies of all time. The sequels showed us if you're going to do a trilogy you need one unified story first and not overly course correct with each instalment.

Hyped as hell for Gladiator II now
Every episode, it's the same tired "butts in seats" argument anytime someone is cast in a movie and their name isn't Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Dwayne Johnson. Rocha would never get movies made if he insisted that every cast include one of the very few people who can make a difference at the box office, and even they aren't guarantees anymore.
Well when they’ve had MULTIPLE opportunities and there’s a track record then you have a foundation and evidence to back up your analysis. And after watching this business for decades, I’ve rarely been wrong on who has IT as a lead and who doesn’t.
I like the cadence of releases this year frankly, it is good we can focus on a singular thing per week and it seems like it has helped? March we had... 4-5 movies open to 40mill+? Obviously your billion-dollar-boys will breakout whenever but i don't think having 4 movies opening the same week is really shrewd business (especially with streaming services launching 10 things every day basically).
Cinemacon seemed fine for what it was, a light year (thanks to the studios themselves, thanks amptp).
EDIT: Perpetuating "people should stop being so hard on joker" and then immediately moving onto this bizarre bong joon ho segment was... a choice, each to their own I suppose.

I tend to watch the first teaser for something (it is usually more vibes than story structure) then bounce because the later trailers always go too hard on that stuff.

I think what you guys talked about with Paul Walter Hauser not exuding physical appeal to women is kinda unfair in that how often has PWH had the opportunity to be a leading guy in a film to showcase that? For that matter, how often are big guys given that opportunity? Or women?
Not saying those films don't exist, but they are super rare, no? So, if there aren't opportunities to showcase that, it's no surprise we haven't seen whether PWH even has that gear.
What's funny is David Spade was Farley's right hand, and he was the ultimate ladies man despite not looking the part.
@@veesimone8409 That's the thing, though, isn't it. There are plenty of men and women who do appeal to others despite maybe not fitting into the mold of 'traditionally handsome/beautiful' irl and having lots of relationships, but I think there's a bias or whatever barrier when it comes to film and tv where actors who don't fit into that traditional mold don't get as many leading roles to showcase that.
To a greater or lesser degree, I think it's a disparity of rl vs the illusion of cinema.
It isn’t unfair. It’s my analysis and my opinion as an actor and a guy who has studied the business my whole life. Hauser doesn’t have Farley’s energy or looks. It’s not about him being a lead or anything like that. In all the projects and work I’ve seen him in. He doesn’t exude it naturally.
@@JohnRochaSays I don't doubt your knowledge or expertise, but Hollywood's not exactly in the habit of casting big dudes as leading men or at least not leading men in the traditional, Brad Pitt, Cary Grant, De Niro roles. There's a distinct difference between a De Niro leading man role and Jack Black, even if there is the occasional exception.
Now, is that b/c those guys didn't fit the bill of a Di Caprio type leading role or is it b/c there's bias in Hollywood? I can see a bit of both or one being the bigger factor than the other depending on the situation.
I know I'm getting away from PWH, specifically, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that even if PWH was 'the issue' (and, like you say, he doesn't or has never exuded that type of charisma/magnetism), it's not like the film industry is rife with bigger leading men and I'm not talking like Cavill or Ritchson who, I guess, is more tv than film.
And that's also entirely different from if big dudes can find other partners in rl (since, as you mentioned, it didn't sound like Farley had any trouble in that department).
agreed, I dont think Deadpool 3 is crossing a billion. Maybe 2 years ago, The mcu and comic book movies are not in the same good place now. Some are tiring of the Deadpool jokes Also the whole convulted TVA plot could put some people off

If Hauser can't play Farley, then no one can. No one has that energy, unless they ingest 8 kilos of white powder. Farley also wasn't handsome. He got ladies because he was rich and funny and famous. Hauser has been angling to play Farley for a decade. He'll do just fine.
You just said “no one would be a lead on a movie if it was up to Rocha” and now you’re saying NO ONE else can play Farley but Hauser which implies no one else can be the lead here. So who’s the one trying to stop people from being leads in films again?? 🤡
Really disappointed that with your discussion in the Lionsgate panel your only reference to ‘Michael’ was about outside factors and nothing about the footage which has been praised. John Campea for eg takes an appropriate approach to the controversy around the movie in that it should reference the accusations and legal issues but in truth he was exonerated in a trial on 14 counts which should also be reminded of. The way you talked about it John (referring to accusers as ‘boys’ when it’s men in their 30s whose case is their 4th attempt to get a payout) was as if it’s Jackson was a criminal and the movie is a PR stunt rather than an overdue biopic. It’s more the other way around that the accusers are rushing through their last attempt to get money to pressure the estate with bad PR having failed numerous times due to lack of credibility.

These were boys when they were being allegedly abused by MJ. Of course, they are men now. Why do you need me to say the MOST OBVIOUS THING about time, aging and how long MJ has been dead?? It's such an odd and weird complaint. And again, I did present it fairly in that I didn't choose one side or another. I simply wondered and asked Jeff how they can say it’s going to be a completely honest telling of the story if the Jackson estate is HEAVILY INVOLVED in its production and there was a Jackson family member on set EVERY DAY. Those are valid concerns to have if you're going to trumpet this biopic as an "HONEST" biopic. If you are too deluded by your love of MJ to not have questions about these accusations that is your issue not mine. I am open to all sides of this and await what will be revealed in court. You've already made up your mind and claimed there’s no evidence when the state of California just approved this case for a trial because they felt there WAS enough evidence to explore here. Again, this is a YOU Issue and not a ME issue. And if you've followed me since the Movie Talk days, you know I don't fuck around when people talk down to me, condescend to me or call me "tired" or accuse me of not presenting something fairly. Either see your error here or move on. I got no time for bullshit like this.
