- In this video I experiment with removing custom skintones to see what happens to the genetics, and also play around with some invisible Sims and accidentally stumble on something else that's broken.

CZcams keeps deleting comments but at this point it's mostly one person whose comments are getting deleted everytime. I've tried a number of things like turning the spam filter off entirely, and also making that person an approved commenter so their posts shouldn't be filtered but it's still happening. 😣 I think sometimes CZcams shadowbans people but I don't think that's happening since I still get the notifications. Anyway if you commented recently on this video and notice your comment is deleted, you can try responding to this one if you like and see if that works. But thanks for the comment. I see/read them although longer comments do get cut off that way. 💜

The sheer confusion male sims have when giving birth will never not be funny. They’re like “I thought I was bloated what am I supposed to do with this thing?”

I think that that "whats this?" Action sims do is kinda cute. All sims are just so confused, we give them personalities and crazy stories but in reality they are all just baby 🥺

The reason sims don't have eyebrows is because their genetics are broken! or rather, the game can't find it, they don't have a genetics! This also happens with all sims with corrupted faces (like the victims of Olive Specter who are all eyebrow-free because they are without genetics) Eyebrows have hair genetics, sims have three things about genetics: eyes, hair and skin. If the genetics of the hair are missing, the genetics of the eyebrows are also missing!
I thought it might be connected to the hair. I don't know what went wrong with the hair but I guess it's because it was converted from the original mirror custom hairs that aren't supposed to be genetic, now I wonder if they all do that lol. The interesting thing about the Sims in Olive's garden is when you resurrect them they seem to come back with random hair despite the broken genetics/missing eyebrows.

@@CalipersandTongs unbinned hairs (those that show up in the "custom" section instead of under one of the hair colors) are always dominant. if that specific hair is unavailable for the sim that inherited it, their genetics are pointing to something that doesn't exist. that's why they're not just showing up as bald, but with no hair or scalp at all when you check in the mirror.
Every time you ask yourself where an invisible item is, I keep wanting to make a joke about it being invisible ;w;

"Ash Ketchup" One of my childhood friends and I had this in-joke. It started once when I was drawing Ash from Pokémon, and he asked me what I was drawing. When I said I was drawing Ask Ketchum he misheard it. After that, sometimes we would just say "Ash Ketchup" to each other out of that context. This reminded me of that. Fun to hear that somebody else has called him Ash Ketchup too.
The Be Surprised is the aging. Usually it happens when someone ages up and I think since you’re just aging the children up multiple times through all the life stages it kinda creates a lot of built up surprises. It’s kinda realistic I mean they’re babies one second and adults giving birth the next LMAOO. The be surprised thing also happens when ppl see ghosts??? I think? And I remember having it glitched on the Goth Manor lot. I moved all the gravestones to a town cemetery and created a garden in its place for one of Cassandra’s children. For whatever reason that little area of the lot in the fence where the graves are was completely glitched the routing was broken and my sims would reset when harvesting anything and they would constantly “Be surprised” when they were in the garden but obviously there was no longer any ghosts. So the reaction can def be glitchy / broken haha!
Yeah I thought it might be related to that somehow, it does make it more realistic lol. One of my other Sims was doing it in reaction to the corrupted Human Pet hybrid Sims which made more sense than not reacting hah. That glitch you had is really weird but I think I've heard other people talking about issues with moving lots of graves at once. In The Sims 2 Maxis always had issues with moving/deleting stuff and a common recurring theme seems to be the game only partially removing things so some remnants are left behind so I guess that happened there lol.
Once I accidentally turned my sim invisible in normal gameplay, no idea how I did it, but he got engaged, married, and had a baby all while invisible. The only thing you could see on him was his ring, it was just like a vampire walking in front of a mirror. Even when I tried to change his appearance he didn’t go back to visible. things with the baby were normal but the baby glitched out, was a baby for so freakin long, then when I re loaded the baby was gone and the only ones who had memories of them were the parents, they remembered them under the deleted sim name and I think that was the turning point in wich the in game corruption got so bad the game deleted every neighborhood and would no longer open.
Ohh yeah I've read about something like that happening before with the invisibility and the wedding ring showing, but I can't remember what it was that triggers it now. Weird that the game deleted every hood something must have gone badly wrong there.
@@CalipersandTongs I had no prior knowledge to anything involving corruption in Sims 2 and I had the same game going for like 3 years. I didnt have all the expansion packs so id play for a while, get an expansion pack, add it, play a while, add a new one, so on so forth, so im sure i did silly things along the way that snowballed overtime and lead to the big corruption boom lol, I lost all my game files but those last few days were wild
With this skin mod, as well as the debug mode in CAS, you can make a safely playable clone of the grim reaper. Cool, eh?

Oh you did the skin thing! Thank you!!! To tell the truth, I feel like I probably have some busted skins in my game because I downloaded SO MANY custom skins and now I'm kind of just stuck with them... so it's nice to see what's actually up with the genetics. I do know how to fix the skins in SimPE, but I'd have to find broken Sims first :P
No problem :) I found it interesting that it keeps a reference to the skin that was previously used for Sims that were born with it, even after it switches it to the Maxis one, but then that's destroyed for future births even after you put it back in.
@@CalipersandTongs I agree; that's really odd. I think what's happening is that there is an ID number assigned to the skin, which these Sims are originally born with, and if the babies inherit the skin of course they get that number, but the number can only exist if the CC does. So if the CC is removed, the game goes ???? and defaults to S2. Actually, my guess considering this would be that the babies born whose skin didn't switch back are, in fact, genuine S2 skin users-- that is to say, that in SimPE their skin ID would be the S2 one, not the (broken or unbroken) CC one.
I had a look in SimPE and the ones who didn't switch all have S2 listed as recessive and dominant genes, but their skintone range(s) are odd characters that are related to the custom skintones from the parents so that's interesting. Jeff's hair and the hair of his children have an odd number too the first part is like 00000006 (I think 1-4 are the Maxis colours. I haven't looked before so I'm not sure if all custom hairs have that number.) I looked at the DNA of the original CAS sims with custom skin and the skintone genes for both recessive and dominant are all custom.
I just realised I only tested it later with Gina (who was 2nd generation,) and looking at her Sim DNA although the custom skintone is still dominant she does have a recessive gene for S1 from her mum Jane (the floating head Sim lol,) so I guess both her kids inherited Maxis skintones because of her S1 recessive gene. It's weird because the custom skintones are always dominant and neither of her kids got one, but I guess it just worked out that way.
@@CalipersandTongs Is it a geneticized custom skin? I guess it could've been modified to be less dominant. This is making me want to do my own experiments- thanks for checking it out in SimPE!!
@@peachforce They shouldn't be geneticised since I decided to try it with regular custom ones and at least two of them came with a separate geneticised set. Also no problem.

- I think what has happened with the custom hair is the game assigned DNA values, but when it tried to get the hair for the baby it returned a null value and just gave it an empty one, which is why the hair and brows were missing, the custom hairs have no genetic bins (afaik).
Also, family thumbnails are usually generalted when you save the game, and I think somtimes when a Sim have moved out via "Move In" in another household (so they don't appear like they're still in their old household).
Yeah I keep forgetting the thumbnails are only generated in game doing certain things, so if you change stuff outside the game it won't update. I did look in SimPE at the hair and the first part of their DNA number (long string of numbers,) had 0000006 or something like that, but the basic Maxis binned colours all end in 1-4 I believe so something weird has happened there.
@@CalipersandTongs I think it assigned Custom Hair as a bin but it never existed, probably would be the same for Silver hair as 05. Curious. I love seeing these glitches happen, corruption has always fascinated me.

I haven't really downloaded many clothes since reinstalling The Sims 2 last year (I think I downloaded some plant Sim outfits though,) so that's something I need to look into as well at some point. Thanks! I haven't played that game but the music is Vanishing by Kevin MacLeod. I think a lot of people (mostly on CZcams and game devs,) use his work since you don't have to pay for a license to use it so you can avoid getting it muted/copyright strikes 😛

maybe the reason why the thumbnails are black is because it is saved as a jpg or jpeg file, whilst pngs are transparent
Oh good point it looks like the family thumbnails are saved as jpg if I view them in SimPE, although I wonder how the debug body appears invisible in that thumbnail, also it doesn't mention the file type of the character ones just says img under type.

Could the hair thing be a custom color for the invisible sim CC pack??
I'm pretty sure it didn't come with the invisible sim pack, because the hair that was messing up came with this mod I think:

it adds more columns to CAS and also adds all the Maxis coloured hair styles that usually appear in the mirror but I don't know how it does it, and the hairs have broken genetics if you add them in CAS it seems. Also someone in the comments of the invisible Sim mod on modthesims also mentioned hair issues, so I think something must have gone wrong there with their upload so the hair is missing. It's possible the two mods are conflicting though maybe, I can't think why they would be though.

Idk where she got hers from but Poppet on tumblr has some really nice male hair, my personal go to for CC. You could check out spookymuffin as well I think she has loads of default replacement male hairs

from what ive read that startled/scared animation is a sign of corruption?
I heard it comes from when Sims see another Sim age up. Since I was doing that a lot I think that's why it kept happening lol, but this neighbourhood is definitely very corrupted so it could be either.

Yeah I really like that crystal ball too, I didn't realise it was animated at first until I placed it in live mode since that wasn't in the screenshot so that was a cool surprise.
