This was 100% on McLaren. Their strategy cost Oscar the race lead and then gave Oscar reassurance that Lando would let him past so they had no choice but to commit to that otherwise it could lead to a breakdown of trust between the driver and the team. Horrible situation for both drivers and probably took some of the joy away from Oscar’s maiden win
Mclaren blundered big, yet again. It would have been easy to maintain their 2 cars position. When the last pit stop come around. The two team cars had stopped racing each other. But Mclaren undercut their lead driver, like they were racing. Well they weren't as we all saw in the end.

I've been a McLaren fan since 1999, enduring that last decade has been frustrating for a fan but ironically I'm not happy about the results, the team absolutely blew it for both drivers, I've never been so disappointed with a team.....
The radios from McLaren and Red Bull were more interesting than the whole race. Also, congrats to Oscar for getting his first win, but can't help that it's soiled by terrible McLaren strategies again.
2 things actually, yes the pitting order was a poor decision but Oscar went off the track twice, losing time. I think if Lando had given the place back immediately he's then got license to race his teammate for 17 laps or so. I think Lando would win then. In the end it's created one of the most dramatic open air team conversations in racing for quite some time

Funny how when Lando was dive bombing Max the same a few races back and Max avoided a crash with him, it was all fair. Now when Max dive bombs Lewis, it is suddenly the opposite.
As regards the Norris/Piastri situation, there might be races in the future where Piastri will be useful to slow down some of the other cars in order to protect a Norris win, sometimes being a team player has its benefits.

The fact Max tried blaming Hamilton for that collision is hilarious. Also with the Mclaren situation they literally took away everything from that first win for Oscar as he knew it wasn't really fair and square, you can just tell from the lack of excitement in his voice and it was just awkward in the interviews after.
The Stewards did rule Hamilton could have done more to prevent the collision… though the decision primarily says neither driver was predominantly to blame
To be fair, Oscar is just a very calm and collected person and isn't the type to scream and get super excited. If you look at his sprint win in Qatar last year, in his post-race radio his tone was almost exactly the same and he pretty much just thanked the team.

If he had gone straight into the side of Hamiltons Mercedes then that would’ve been a penalty, if he had run Hamilton off the road by making contact wheel to wheel that would’ve warranted a penalty. There wasn’t any contact made until Hamilton turned the wheel which then made his tire contact Maxs rear tire launching him in the air. Max lost two places basically if that move had stuck since he finished 5th instead of 3rd.

Lando did himself in by not switching immediately. He clearly had the better pace. Had he given himself 20 laps to get by Oscar rather than debating with the team, I’ve no doubt he would have won fair and square.

Lando was faster after the pit stop. And the faster driver should win. While the strategy may have been unfair on Oscar, he still had fresher tires and despite that wasn't able to close the gap.

Hamilton also had tough battles in which he even lost friendships. So did all true champions because with a lot of humans in the competitive world, they don't like to see you winning all the time :-)
Verstappen's attitude perfectly shows how important is to have the fastest car on the grid, when you don't have it, the peace and joy of winning races ends and nerves, stress and blaming everyone around you begin.

2 things actually, yes the pitting order was a poor decision but Oscar went off the track twice, losing time.
I think if Lando had given the place back immediately he's then got license to race his teammate for 17 laps or so. I think Lando would win then.

As regards the Norris/Piastri situation, there might be races in the future where Piastri will be useful to slow down some of the other cars in order to protect a Norris win, sometimes being a team player has its benefits.

The fact Max tried blaming Hamilton for that collision is hilarious. Also with the Mclaren situation they literally took away everything from that first win for Oscar as he knew it wasn't really fair and square, you can just tell from the lack of excitement in his voice and it was just awkward in the interviews after.
The Stewards did rule Hamilton could have done more to prevent the collision… though the decision primarily says neither driver was predominantly to blame
To be fair, Oscar is just a very calm and collected person and isn't the type to scream and get super excited. If you look at his sprint win in Qatar last year, in his post-race radio his tone was almost exactly the same and he pretty much just thanked the team.

@@supaahflyy The move was completely acceptable to make, dive bombing into a corner isn’t against the rules neither is missing a corner. If he had gone straight into the side of Hamiltons Mercedes then that would’ve been a penalty, if he had run Hamilton off the road by making contact wheel to wheel that would’ve warranted a penalty. There wasn’t any contact made until Hamilton turned the wheel which then made his tire contact Maxs rear tire launching him in the air. Max lost two places basically if that move had stuck since he finished 5th instead of 3rd.

Lando did himself in by not switching immediately. He clearly had the better pace. Had he given himself 20 laps to get by Oscar rather than debating with the team, I’ve no doubt he would have won fair and square.

Lando was faster after the pit stop. And the faster driver should win. While the strategy may have been unfair on Oscar, he still had fresher tires and despite that wasn't able to close the gap.

Verstappen's attitude perfectly shows how important is to have the fastest car on the grid, when you don't have it, the peace and joy of winning races ends and nerves, stress and blaming everyone around you begin.

Two and a half years they tried to gaslight us saying Max has calmed down, matured and has the demeanour of a true world champion, when in reality he was just chill because nobody could get anywhere near that rocket ship.

@@danielkelly4487only because Yuki made it work. 30 laps on the medium for stint 1 is insane, hence why no one else attempted a one stop.
@@danielkelly4487the one stop is not the better strategy that's why they're the only one out of everyone cuckoo enough to try that. Even Yuki and his engineer said that it was Plan C and didn't even think they would do it before the race.
@@lejosukebby4107 it was easily the better of the two strategies between him and Danny ric they ruined Danny’s race by bringing him in early while Yuki had clean air . Danny was the best by far of the ones that pit early .
