- Hi! I'm Tanic Sims 2 but you can call me Tanny and welcome to Part Two of the third instalment of the Sims 2 Corruption Chronicles. Join me as we seek the answer to a question as old as time: just how corrupt are the Sims 2 premade neighbourhoods anyway?
In the first part, we covered the corrupted dead sims in Strangetown - now it’s the living residents’ turn. They can’t all possibly be borked too, surely? Well… let’s just say that, if they weren’t, this video would have only needed to be one part long.

for some reason these corruption videos freak me out even when nothing freaky is happening? love the slightly unhinged vibes of sims 2. and i know nothing about coding or making video games but the way they made the game is so interesting to me!
the ‘slightly unhinged vibes of sims 2’ got me 🤣 for me even the word used to describe it - corruption - is absolutely terrifying. so even when we’re talking about less creepy things like, say, missing family ties it just feels so eerie and weird. it gives me the same vibes as terms like ‘lost media’ even when the lost media in question is as innocuous as a missing children’s tv show pilot lol
honestly same here - i’m no computer expert and my knowledge of coding and programming only goes as far as knowing how to write ‘hello world’ in basic html lol. but somehow this game makes us all experts with all the work we have to do to fix it hahaha

this is something I get in general with game breaking glitches, they fascinate me but they give me this horrible pit in my stomach...maybe it's something to do with the idea of a game being fundamentally broken and it being unavoidable for players?

The more i think about it, maybe the Curious Brothers weren't intended to by related at all, or at the very least Vicund and Jenny weren't supposed to be related to Pascal and Lazlo. Apparently the Curious Brothers were a reference to the Lone Gunman, who weren't related to each other. Adding to this Vidcund and Jenny look nothing like Pascal and Lazlo. Probably they were hastily rushing the family relations in Strangetown before releasing, since they didn't bother doing it for most of the development phase.
that actually makes sense! really the only thing i can think that could refute it would be the storytelling image with jenny, vidcund, and pascal as children/toddlers (if i’m remembering the image correctly, kitty is pregnant with lazlo in it) but that could be explained as a last minute photograph too... in the psp game, they really ramp up the lone gunmen/x-files references and they retconned their relationship. sinjin balani from the kine society mentions lazlo is his cousin, which would imply pascal, vidcund, and jenny would be his cousins too... but there’s no explicit confirmation of that. plus the brothers just refer to one another as something like lab partners. wouldn’t they say brothers?? i know the psp game was released after ts2 and has a few discrepancies but it still makes me wonder if this arrangement was the original plan. it wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary either for them to all have the surname curious - it would be like the singles household. honestly the curious-smith family is so bizarre it’s worthy of a stand-alone video where literally everything weird about them gets covered... but i think there was definitely some rushing when it came to their family ties. we know that strangetown went through many stages of development without being updated so a lot of outdated data remains - i can believe the shoddy family ties are a result of this
I had the weirdest experience a few years back, where I married Vidcund to Chloe and then Lazlo to Lola (not realising that they were actually siblings) and both produced children.
Even more bizarrely was the fact that the “cousins” didn’t even recognise each other as family. Yikes.
I consider not listing Chloe and Lola as Curious siblings, a feature and plot device, not a bug lol. The Curious brothers are really into aliens, heck two of them even pregnant with one. Learning that their hot alien wives are actually their half-sisters, really thickens the plot lol.
as dangerous to game as all of it is, it really adds to the strangetown's spookiness 👀 very interesting part, with some things in part one i was already familiar, but the broken trees are completely new information! i wonder what secrets you will uncover in next towns!

hehe i try to cover absolutely everything from the well-known to the more obscure. even though we’re always told to use clean templates because the premade hoods come corrupted already, personally i’ve never found a cohesive list detailing everything that’s broken about them. the information is all kinda scattered or not super in-depth... so i thought i should change that and potentially help other curious players who absolutely need to know the ins and outs of everything 🤣
@@tanicsims2 yeah, i had sims dissapearing and sometimes reappearing again around generation of grandchildren of curious brothers and because it was the time my friend from school got bon voyage for her birthday and let me borrow it i blamed it all on the aliens AND some curse of sacred temple in the woods :D it was quite fun while it lasted!

Okay, it's actually so interesting that Strangetown Bella Goth is considered a Curious sibling by the game : in the french version of the Sims 2, Strangetown Bella Goth is actually named Kathy Lalouche (to my knowledge, the french version i's the only version where her name is different in Pleasantview and Strangetown). And in the french version, the Curious family's translated last name is... Lalouche. So french Strangetown Bella Goth has the same last name as the Curious siblings !! Coincidence ? (God I love this broken game)
Unrelated to the corruptions, but oh no, my head hurts from reliving the Curious/Smith family tree. That's some TV soap opera stuff that Jenny just straight up married and had kids with her father's lover, ensuring that she became the stepmother of her half-siblings and Johnny and Jill both having their aunts as their half-siblings too. Only in The Sims 2 lmao
On the Nervous theory, I like to take the path of least resistance and say that both the hidden Nervous and the playable Nervous are the same person. My only justification is that the devs applied this logic to ST and PV Bella; even though they obviously look different, canonically they're the same. If you wanted to weave some messed up lore into it, you could say that Nervous was revived after the 'Friday the 13th' video but had to go through a face reconstruction due to the accident. That's why everyone, even the Beakers, has memories of the old Nervous because no one else had seen him after the surgery (assuming Nervous had met Pascal before it happened).
I like the clone theory though (and I think it was a minor plot point in 'Strangetown, Here We Come') because it seems more mad scientist and totally what the Beakers would do just for shi's and giggles.
Although the fact that Chloe and Lola and the curious brothers being attracted to each other is probs just an oversight by the developers, I like to just tell myself it’s part of the storyline. The curious brother’s father had these secret alien twins that they don’t know abt… soooo the brothers don’t know the alien sisters are their sisters.
oh yeah, it definitely makes sense as a storyline! it also explains how jenny does recognise lola and chloe as family, however she treats them as her step-daughters instead; she might know lola and chloe are pol’s daughters, but might not realise her father gave birth to them/that they are also half-siblings. i can’t remember right now how johnny and jill treat lola and chloe but if they recognise them as siblings rather than aunties then this also helps the theory that the curious bros and jenny are unaware of their half-sisters. sure, this is most likely due to limitations of the game - it probably just can’t process more... complex relations such as double-related...ness. but purely from a storyline perspective i definitely agree with it! i guess it just won’t ever stop being weird that they could potentially date and reproduce together, probably just because we as players are aware that they _should_ be related even if the sims themselves aren’t 😅
@@tanicsims2 I actually just revisited my strange town and apparently pascal and Chloe had a little romance together 😵💫😵💫 (they were both elders tho… so at least no risk of sibling cousins makes it a little better…. I guess LOL). Also, the family tree is all kinds of weird bc when I first entered the household I had just placed a now graduated from uni Jill in town and pascal rolled a want to flirt w her (secondary romance)…….. and I was like WTF??? For some weird reason he didn’t recognize Jill as related to him which is odd bc he did recognize Jenny as his sister and usually uncles and nieces are recognized even in the vanilla game. He also obvi didn’t recognize Lola or Chloe as his sister. Sooo strange. I’m not sure if the other curious brothers recognize Jill as their niece but I know pascal’s alien son DID recognize Jill as his cousin and so does Vidcund’s alien son 😵💫😵💫 which also made me realize that the alien boys are brother cousins bc they have the same alien dad and their human dads are also brothers LMAOO. Oh and last but not least the already inc3sty alien brothers were going steady with the Beaker’s set of twin girls. So if they hypothetically stay together as adults then they’ll be half brother cousin and brothers in law? And any kids with the twins would be cousins by both their moms and dads. Insane!!!
In my current Strangetown, Bella Goth works in the military career, and when General Buzz brought her home from work and wanted to become best friends with her I was like "ehm no thank you, I'm fine without that corrupted lady"
🤣 if you’re using a clean template she should be absolutely fine! but even then i understand why you’d be cautious. corruption aside, her entire story is very spooky!
The same happened in my game but it gets wrost: she was dating Buzz AND was Tank's first kiss, so ewwwwww

i heard the weird clones were because the original story for strangetown was that aliens crash landed and took on human forms, and you would have to figure out which ones are aliens.

that is the absolute coolest theory ever! i remember when we weren’t so clued up on corruption so we would blame weird bugs in strangetown on aliens but i’ve never heard this theory before. when i finally get around to playing strangetown again i kinda wanna -steal- borrow this as a storyline 👉🏻👈🏻
@@tanicsims2 RIIIIIIGHT? I think I heard it from Marticore (if that's how you spell it 😭) orrr another CZcams who does corruption investigation (I can't remember but I think she does blightville?) I've only just started playing in the last year that's so funny y'all blamed it on aliens! The stories in Strangetown are so good it's a shame it shipped so buggy. I'm sooo glad you have a new storyline to work with now 😎 it's really what I think works best with everything, especially considering Bella Goth!

I don't think nervous having no ties to Olive was a mistake. I think the developers didn't want players to know right away that nervous was olives son. It's not until you dig through memories that you learn, so it doesn't show up in the family tree.
So the dead nervous is the one tagged as olives son. And the playable nervous isn't so players can learn later when they start reading characters memories

Same. The only Veronaville corruption I know of is Olivia Monty not actually being pregnant, so it will be interesting to learn about other ones.

I like that attitude! I also love how random the game is. I have had so many odd and hilarious thing happening in mine because of corruption and having an old and slow computer. The highlight was when Mrs Crumpelbottom got bitten by a vampire (which I now know is a no-no) and she turned invisible! I could only see her bag and knitting! I still find that so funny! 😂 great video btw!
Wolf sims 2 corruption is either horrifying or hilarious - no in between 🤣 its signs and results are just so arbitrary as well. i’m guessing that the game just can’t process the changes to her mesh since she’s not a real sim so instead she turned invisible - it kinda reminds me of how seth zaidi turns invisible if he becomes a zombie because of his corrupted appearance according to the wiki. i’ve only ever heard about the dreaded event of a grand vampire autonomously biting mrs. crumplebottom but i’ve never actually heard what happens after, so this was super cool to read! probably not super cool at the time though hahaha. and thank you so much!!
Interesting that as a kid I remember making a baby with the retired pollinator hoping I'd get more aliens in my game and getting the incorrect skin tone. It was back when only base game existed.
it was definitely a bigger issue back with the base game; seems like university changed the overall dna ordering and the uni/NL patch fixed the problems but i decided to include it on the off chance that someone’s still playing an unpatched base game, or just as a sort of history of corruption kinda caveat lol. but yep - that would be due to pol missing skintone genes. even though their missing dna was never added despite any patches it seems the skintone range string is responsible for making this less of a problem nowadays (perhaps this part of simdna was added later) 😅

Also Bella being broken makes so much sense. I was actually surprised to find out that she is supposed to be in the business career bc she is almost always high up in the military career for me. In fact, as a kid I remember buzz would always end up bringing her home at some point and I would make them get married lol. Specifically I remember I had them woohoo in a hot tub once and then they were both frozen and would not get out ever again. Also…. In my current game Bella has been involved with both ripp and tank (they’re adults now) …. I knew she could network with the bad sims but I did not know that it still corrupted things when you decline 😟 This also reminds me that I have this chronic issue of Pleasantview sims trying to network and introduce ppl to Mortimer even tho he’s long gone and I decline every time. Makes sense why it’s spreading now.
somebody else here said their bella was also in the military career, so i have been wondering for a while whether townies’ careers are randomised based on their aspiration however iirc bella is a romance sim and military seems more suited for popularity so i may be completely off the mark here, but i’ve considered it as a theory because it would narrow careers down (thus why bella will often be placed in the military career even though she should actually be in business) though i guess it’s also just a coincidence; if their careers are meant to be randomised (or for example if they are spawned by the game) then only careers from the base game will be used unless you have a mod. so could just be a result of the limited amount of careers available, if there are no other factors such as aspiration at play.

d... did i ghostwrite this... the EXACT SAME THING happened in my pleasantview! a dormie tried introducing my sim to their friend mortimer goth and i was just like... honey the only way you can contact him is via ouija board because he died SIX ROUNDS AGO 😭 i’d heard of townies trying to introduce object npcs to sims (even in clean hoods/with non-bella townies -because this game is broken- ) i had never seen anything about townies trying to connect you to dead sims. naturally i ran to reddit because i was worried and wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this, though i was relieved that it was a valid sim at least and not a universal npc. it’s how i discovered the new friend fix by cyjon and the met sim memories. i wanted to remove all connection between the dormie and mortimer so i went into simpe and found these memories, which i removed mostly for peace of mind if nothing else. it was relatively painless however i am not entirely sure if this would be the case for object npcs. we of course do not want to risk modifying the objects.package files in any way. mootilda mentions in a thread on mts that relationships are stored in the neighbourhood manager file however i am not sure if this is also the case for memories. on the other hand i am also not entirely sure if object npcs having these memories would actually be inherently dangerous, though i am assuming they wouldn’t be good and when it comes to game corruption it’s always best to err on the side of caution!

just watched the rest of the chronicles and i just have to mention this cause i forgot in my initial comment: for some reason these videon on sims corruption *scare* me?? or they give me the creeps and i can´t watch em when it´s dark LMAO. it´s nothing scary rly but they just have this eerie vibe and i looove it. patiently waiting for the sub-hoods rn
For 6:07, I believe the reason this happens is because whenever you adopt a pet in a household you're playing, if there are close to no more pets available the game recognizes this and generates random pets to put up for adoption. Since it does that, if you go to SimPE, they will be labeled in a separate household with the same household name as the one you were playing. That's why when you clicked on the Specter relations, they were all there because their household name is the exact same as the actual Specter household. It's easy to fix this though. Just go to Family Households list or something like that in SimPE and find the household name that is duplicated with all the pets in it, and just rename it to anything you want, and you're good to go. If anything, it's more irritating than buggy😂
i had no idea about this! thank you for telling me. it... makes some sense? well, as much ‘sense’ as ts2 can make. it’s still kind of weird though considering i only use this strangetown for recording (i had the game generate a new save folder separate from my main one) and every time i filmed something i wouldn’t save; the only time i had to save was when i added knut to the household and had to fiddle with him in simpe, so i never touched pet adoption or anything to do with pets since i didn’t need to. if i’m understanding you correctly though... i have clean versions of the stealth hoods in my programme files, which i _believe_ would mean new strays had to generate. because the specter household was the only one i saved, it makes sense given your explanation that this is what happened here. still insanely confusing, but at least i know now it wasn’t my game being weird for no reason and that this is... normal game behaviour (as normal as ts2 can be). it’s no problem anymore because i had to reset strangetown anyway to its default state for this video - seems that bella moves herself into the townie household at some point after the hood is initialised, but her ties to the default household remain - but at least i know now for future so i can keep my eye out for it (and fix it if needs be). again thank you for telling me!!
I was just about to try and map out the Curious family tree by hand… thank god I watched this video when I did! But really, I enjoyed this video so much! It’s so cool to be able to see how strange Strangetown really is and it gives me a bit more context as to why my old Strangetown world always got corrupted 😂
i feel like the original Nervous Subject was killed off (as seen in the beta footage) and they realized that was probably bad of them to do since they hadn't programmed resurrection at the time, so they had to haphazardly recreate him and pretend it never happened.
A few years back EA released every piece of sims 2 from base to dlc for free for a bit. I was excited until while downloading it all I decided to see if I needed any story progression or cleanup mods. Then I found out about neighborhood corruption and immediately noped out. Not even the toddler talk glitch from sims 3 reaches the level of horror that some sims 2 glitches produce….
Your videos inspired me to install the Sims 2 again, which is kinda ironic given that they're about it's corruption 😅

You should try using clean templates of each of the neighborhoods! They come without corrupted sims and with fixes

@@tanicsims2 There was some person who commented on a Sims 2 video about what not do if you want your game to be playable. They commented on the video saying,"Ha,you can't tell me what to do,this won't stop me" ect. The person updated their comment explaining that when they corrupted the game or hoods their laptop crashed and when they were finally able to get their laptop working again,they discovered that the corruption from the game actually corrupted their laptop's RAM.

I once managed to add Bella by normal means into the "alien brothers" (can't remember a name to save my life, sorry), and the game managed to stay "sane" and stable for a while.
After a while, it became such a bug fest I had a blast everytime I opened the neighborhood.
strangetown and corruption go hand in hand! honestly it must be so fun to play if you know it’s going to become wonky at some point so you can prepare for it/not get attached and just sit back and watch the weirdness unfold!

One of the funniest bugs was the fact that almost no Sim knew how to carry a toddler.
Just discovered your series and I love it. I've been getting back into Sims 2 out of nostalgia and remembering how much I love this game (my favourite of the series, jank and all), so I'm having so much fun watching your video essays about it.
pls be sure to eventually cover sub hood townies and family bin families as well. i stg every time i use hood checker, most of the magic sub hood townies are broken with gossip about the sub hood magic family bin household bc maxis improperly deleted one of the sims yet again. i don’t even know why, bc you’d think maxis wouldn’t have fucked up that late in development. >: (
don’t worry - i absolutely will!! i plan to cover every single one of the premade/ep hoods as well as particular subhoods. for stealth hoods i’ll mention them if they’re relevant/borked in the hood they’re associated with (i.e. covering the ottomas family in the riverblossom hills video).
the later hoods are in a better state than the base game ones, but honestly... it’s not a total improvement. what baffles me is how obsolete data/game code still exists pretty far down the line. i’ll be covering this in the eventual desiderata valley video but one of the ancestral sims has the power aspiration, and it’s so bizarre because freetime was one of the last (in fact, wasn’t it the penultimate one? just before apartment life?) EPs. i can’t think of any reason why a sim would have an aspiration that was scrapped in development in a hood released almost 5 years after the base game. not to mention how resurrection was now possible, and freetime even introduced a new method of resurrection. unless it’s because she has an unrecognised/broken aspiration which sometimes resorts to the power aspiration (like in the case of many of the sims in olive’s garden), but even then i don’t understand why her data would be so broken still - her gender is also incorrect iirc.
it’s also weird to me how the ep hoods get more borked with each release. riverblossom hills will probably have a relatively short video on it because it’s okay. not great but it’s... eh. then we get to desiderata valley and we have problems with ancestral sims reminiscent of olive’s garden. and then finally you get to belladonna cove, which is weirdly the buggiest out of the 3 ep hoods despite being released last.
i use the empty stealth hoods by jawusa who also has clean versions if you’re interested/not using them already. this might help your hoodchecker issues!

I never got into the sims until I was around 10, and thereafter only played the sims 3, and eventually 4. It's been many years since, and recently I've really wanted to try ts2. Problem being, I only have a MacBook. But for some reason, the App Store has a "super collection" for the sims 2, including various (but not all) stuff and expansion packs. This is both a win, and a loss for me, as you can't mod this version of the game. I get to play the sims 2, but with a chance of eventual game corruption. And of course, the neighbourhood I wanted to play most was Strangetown haha. Oh well! If all else fails and the neighbourhood becomes unplayable, I'll go into cas and make lacklustre versions of the Strangetown characters, and plop them into a new desert town.
I can't wait for you reach the ep. neighborhoods, and I wish sooooo much that there is clean templates with the original townies for this hoods too.
i’ve been nervous about the ep hoods because honestly for the most part they’re okay so i thought their videos would be boring, but by the looks of things people are excited for them! it makes me excited to do them!
honestly same here. i’ve been wanting to play them with clean templates but i can’t find any with the townies and npcs. it’s not a total dealbreaker i guess but it would be really cool! i know there are ways to manually get all the townies and npcs in the clean template, but i imagine it’ll be pretty time consuming and fiddly (makes me appreciate the hard work of people who clean the hoods even more!!)
When I was younger, I tried to make Ophelia and Johnny have babies. After save scumming several times, I was wondering "Is Johnny really the father? Cause we should have several jolly giants by now". Man if I knew then.
i have been thinking about ‘jolly giants’ for the past few days. it has genuinely kept me up at night
but jokes aside yeah - johnny’s missing the skintone passed on genes so his offspring will most likely not inherit his green skin even though they should considering it’s very dominant. i imagine this is ‘fixed’ to some extent now though even though i didn’t experiment with him (just guessing that the game can now read the skintone range part of his dna and take the data from that, even if the skintone string is still missing...)

Something interesting about ST Bella Goth wrt to the Curious family is that in some languages, she has a different name than the PV Bella. According to the wiki, in French and Thai, she shares a name with Kitty Curious.
yes!! i thought about mentioning this but decided against it at the last minute. i think i chose to omit it because it still didn’t explain her connections to jenny and her children as kitty was their mother and grandmother respectively, whereas bella thinks jenny is her sister and johnny and jill are her nephew & niece. in hindsight though i really wish i had included it even if i was confused and unsure about it, because it would have opened up some interesting conversations and invited many interpretations. but you’re right - it’s very... strange 🤔
Maybe "Kitty" was originally going to be the name of an extra Curious sibling, but when they decided to cut the character, they gave the name to their mother instead?
I dunno why it happened, but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would happen on purpose, so it seems to me like some outdated data that was supposed to be changed.
Now that's a source of inspiration for Winden in the Dark series ;)

It's clones portrait in game & Sim PE are both glitched.
The other Balin appears normal, but I always chase it off any way.

The Curious Brothers not recognizing their alien half-sisters as family is a terrible, terrible mistake. It's the worst place for an oversight like that, in fact. Any person not knowledgable about Strangetown lore is super tempted to ship single geeks with that strong a "go green" attitude with two very green girls that literally have the last name "Singles", reinforcing the idea that they are available for shipping. Why, Maxis, why? 🤣
Edit: I know tons of people said they used to ship them, so it's definitely not just "theoretical"
agreed! i like the storyline theory that suggests the curious brothers don’t know about their alien half-sisters, hence why they don’t have any flags set. jenny doesn’t have flags for them either however she at least treats them as family if only because the game is recognising them as being her step-daughters (as if their family tree wasn’t convoluted enough...). but at the same time... yeah. if you didn’t realise the brothers were meant to be related to lola and chloe it’s an easy mistake to make, and i imagine it was probably even more prevalent back in the early days like you said. they won’t even show up as related on their family tree so there’s no way to check. i don’t even want to think about how messed up their kids would be 😭 they’d be related to themselves.....

I also love the idea that they don't know that part of the family exists. It makes the family even more interesting, and gives a lot depth to Glarn.
There's also something, idk, aching and sweet about the idea that they're actually a pretty close family that's so interested in aliens, and they don't even know there's two poor abandoned alien sisters who grew up with not even their biological parent, yet everyone would be eager to meet and unite the family if they knew.
In a narrative sense it's almost like they're subconsciously not merely searching for aliens and UFOs, but they're unknowingly being drawn to their lost family members in an almost mystical way. Even Jenny embodies that tendency because she literally married the only other guy who's connected to the two unknown sisters.
I also love the idea that the 4 have to come to the terrible realisation how dishonest their dad must have been, and what a shitty thing he has done. Not only abandoning his daughters, but also never telling his new family.
Oh and I just realized that the 4 siblings actually kind of redeem their dad by taking care of their alien kids.
And I can't imagine how Chloe and Lola must feel when they realize they have siblings (who kinda had the family life they kinda missed out on).
Egads, sorry for the long comment, I get carried away with stories like that, oof. It's crazy how cool they wrote this, and even if I'm interpreting a lot of emotion into it, the plot and backstory was made by whoever wrote this part of the game.

I play Strangetown for 3 months now, no signs of corruption; DID NOT use a clean template, BUT I did download the anti-corruption mods. My gamestyle is slow and careful, and family making-oriented - so I am, and will be using Strangetown characters for baby making. I don't mind minor bugs or glitches - but as far as your experience goes, is there a risk of my Strangetown becoming unplayable? (Through, for example, DNA issues?)

not me playing the second generation in a NOT clean strangetown i- 🖐️😭
you may be okay, as long as you have all the essential anti-corruption mods, use hoodchecker, regularly make backups, and of course don’t do any more damage. it’s hard to say for sure since corruption is so unpredictable; some players can go years without even seeing a single sign of corruption even if they’re playing a vanilla hood, or even if they do every vbt imaginable lol. other players barely do anything wrong just to have their hoods disappear in months, maybe even weeks. it’s also difficult to determine what everyone’s individual definition of ‘unplayable’ means - for some, it’s the first sign that something might be wrong like toddlers having inappropriate wants. but for others, they may not care until the hood can no longer load anymore. so, really it’s up to you. if you want to start fresh with a clean template for peace of mind, go for it! but if you want to keep playing this strangetown because you’re attached, it wouldn’t be impossible to keep it afloat for as long as you need it hopefully. best case scenario is you grow bored of it before it even reaches your own level of unplayability. these hoods may be broken, but luckily we have excellent people in the community who have worked hard to develop tools to fix them and clean up mess as far as the available coding allows (for FREE!)!
I feel bad for the people who played strangetown alllll the way back in 2004 who only got a max 1 hour of “normal” gameplay before they couldn’t load the game anymore.

it’s a weird case where they’re flagged as ‘family’ but in-game they won’t actually treat one another as family. it might be because it isn’t specified how they’re ‘related’ so instead they just have random family flags that honestly won’t affect anything in-game (unlike the missing ties between the curious brothers and their half-sisters) - thought i’d mention it anyway because it’s just another weird case of sims having random flags they shouldn’t have 🤣
stuff like this is why I like to create my own characters and have them marry the townies
