I do realize that this video is from 2 years ago, so you might have already learned what might have been the cause and a probable fix to the eternal illusive kitchen fire, but if not, and for those who might not know:
The likely cause: If you have the cheat "moveobjects on" activated when a fire breaks out, that fire will sometimes remain, even after you remove the object that caught fire. It is a neat way to add a harmless eternal fire to your game for storytelling purposes. However, just note that even though it cannot harm any sims, it is still a leftover object, and you might not be able to place objects on those tiles where the fire exists.
Probable Fix: "Stuck object remover" mod from Maty (More Awesome Than You). When I experienced this eternal fire glitch twice (the bonfire and a tree), in my game, I thought it was cool, but grew concerned when I could not place items there, thinking my game had been corrupted. Luckily, I searched the Mod the Sims threads, and was able to remove the stuck objects thanks to More Awesome Than You's "stuck object removal."
One other aspect that some claim might be the cause is CC objects catching fire. Again, the same fix should do the trick of removing the eternal flames. If you do want to keep the eternal flames, "moveobjects on" might allow you to place items on the tiles where the flames are burning, but since I am unable, at the moment to test this theory, I cannot say whether the objects placed will be accessible.

Ah I can't remember what I was doing while recording this video but I do use that cheat quite often so it could have been related. I didn't really think about fixing the fire here as I wasn't really using the lot again after recording this video (also maybe I quit without saving, can't remember now.) But this is useful to know thanks!

I’d wager that the name is pronounced “tree-cou” and the “house of fallen trees” is a play on words since they’re all deceased (fallen).
I live in Southern Louisiana and a common surname here is "Picou" which is pronounced "Pee-coo", so I pretty much assumed immediately that was how it was pronounced it's kind of funny when anglophone folks mispronounce French names lol.
“Tree-cou” always made more sense to me. It confuses me to hear otherwise lol.
Considering that there's a glitch in the game that sets death type to starvation when a sim's grave is moved it's possible that the Tricou ghosts on Gothier Green Lawns initially had different death types. For example I'm pretty sure Jennicor has a memory of inheriting money from Jon Smith which can only happen when a sim dies of Old Age which would imply that he died of Old Age.
Oh yeah that's a good point I forgot about that glitch. I think it would make more sense if some of the adult Sims died in a fire too like their children although someone would have had to move their graves so maybe not.
I'm thinking they all died in a fire after Jon Smith and Rainelle was the one to move the graves and start renovating the burned down house. (they probably just set Fricorith's death type wrong because I doubt him getting clobbered with a satellite is cannon).

It's supposed to increase the speed a bit I think but I'm not sure by how much. For me the sims would build it to 10 points almost instantly which I thought seemed a bit too quick and then I read that it was a glitch lol.
It's a glitch! Apparently was fixed in one patch, but that was after I stopped downloading stuff for my game. Physiology is meant to stop sims losing fitness as fast, and I think it's meant to help build body skill quicker by a % - but in my game it affects all basic skill building, so they gain each skill point at the same speedy rate.

I remember never being able to do the 50 dates. It's too boring and too repetitive. I can't imagine doing the 100 one x_x

Even if Rebecka ends up having the longest possible elderhood, she would have to go on two dates daily in order to achieve her lifetime wish.
Yeah I can see why they ended up changing that one because even 50 is too much imo unless you play without aging.
or, get the matchmaker to make people appear from the sky then immediately end the date- it still counts as a first date. just keep doing this for as long as possible until you get to 100
I think the reason why Nyllist and Kieran don’t get the romantic tags is because they are marked as family that same thing happened to me with the Montys
The one thing i always wonder about this family: Where the hell did the devs get their names? They are so unique and fascinating and i can't find them anywhere else.
Yeah I had no idea if I was pronouncing them correctly because I tried googling most of them to see and many of them are either really rare or don't exist because nothing came up lol. Some of them sound French to me though, the Sims wiki suggests Kvornan is more Scandinavian sounding but I think they created them to be relatively unique. I found a name that was similar to Gvaudoin but was spelt differently, can't seem to find it now though when I search lol.

The French-sounding names makes me think of a very old trend in France to give "antique-sounding" names to children, so I did a bit of googling, if you type stuff like "prénoms anciens" or "prénoms 17ème/18ème siècle" you can find among the boring classic French names some unique stuff. I'm pretty sure that would also work in any foreign language, so if anyone wants to share their own knowledge, be my guest.
Speak of the devil, I just added the Tricous to my hood. I find it funny Jon was just fucking through adulthood to the point where he has kids(all of the same age) as old as his grandchildren.
i think they recognize each other as family just so they can all appear in the family tree without it getting cut, because when a sim's spouse dies i think they are "removed" from the family tree unless they have children

1'st dates are actually pretty easy (easier than perfect dates). You can just ask Gypsy match maker for a blind date and just say goodbye immediately as the date starts, repeat 50/100 times. But yeah I think that this lifetime want is realy stupid.

Sims that you think are “invisible” are actually just really high up or far down below in the map, so for a fix, spawn User Control with insimenator and allow the teleport menu to show, and then make the “invisible” sim teleport to the location, and then that’ll be it fixed

@@CalipersandTongs you should just enable all the menus, it basically is all of the insimenator objects but you just click a sim to use it
For some reason a ton of my Sims just go invisible whenever I just use the Insiminator to put them in the household, or leave the lot when someone's at work. The easiest way to bring them back is just shift clicking the mailbox, and finding the "Teleport me here" option. It just spawns them right next to the mailbox. Literally a life saver lol
Ah that's weird I don't have too many problems with it but I noticed that a couple of times when resurrecting dead Maxis Sims it's had problems (but some of those I had issues with were in Olive's garden lol.)

Altough there is some 'Conception Arts' from the sims 2 stuffs/expansions packs back then, what i never saw before and they're look really interesting and makes you wonder: "what could have been...?" (Like: Glamoure life stuff pack have a picture where they put stairs in the pool, so you're sims can walk in instead of using the diving board/ladder.) - that would be so cool if they actually make that happen. [But it stays as a 'conception art' forever... sadly.]

I heard that death by starvation appears when you teleport tombstone from place of death into another location (in that case the real reason of death forever disappears) so this could be a reason why ghosts look like passed out because of exactly that type of death.
I downloaded a mod to fix this issue but it doesn't work to restore original death reason for earlier teleported graves.
I’d wonder if there’s a way to fix death type via Sims PE??

Ah that makes sense actually since they're NPC's who weren't intended to really be played normally from birth to death.
Not only Nylissit has this glitch actually! I made them a playable family in my Veronaville (as well as the teens) and made all of them Vampires. Jennail and her spouse, as well as Jon Smith and his wife, had the same problems. Only way I could fix it was through SimPE. I think the glitch happened because they were technically still married to an extend? It was very odd regardless. This family is thankfully not corrupted but it does need a bit of fiddling around if you want to properly play it.
Oh interesting, I wonder if they fixed it for all of them if you have the patch. There does seem to be an issue with some of the later expansion Sims who have deceased spouses where the game doesn't properly recognise they're dead/remove certain marriage flags.
That makes so much sense because literally today, I was trying to get Jon and Jen to fall in love with eachother and it wouldnt trigger no matter what. By being "married" they're recognized as family (blue icon in relationship panel) but because theres no actual ties between them I think the game is seeing the "family" and saying "oh no, no romantic flags for you" even though the interactions are available. For anyone in the future who runs into this problem, set the relation type to Spouses instead of Unknown or Undefined and your problems are solved.

I think Vampiric Eden just ended up being the Crypt-O-Night club but I’m not sure.
Also the funniest thing happened, I tried to add someone to my household for a test type thing, and literally every sim that was in my previous game, popped up in my add to household list. (I deleted that previous game and the previous back ups so this is strange), and when I did end up adding a sim from my previous game, the two female sims I added, (one of the strange town sims from the Singles household) and one sim made myself, not only did neither of them have an aspiration, but they didn’t have an inventory either, until I used a cheat to give them an aspiration. They also did not have hair, until I saved and re entered the lot, and they had default male voices. I could use these sims normally, but they could not interact with anyone. Their social would go down, but if I had asked them to join a game with other sims or talk to another, they would stop what they were doing and the task would be removed.
They also had no lifetime wants and their aspiration level was always blank.
The game gave them the default adult female outfit (a red long sleeved shirt with white Capri pants and red matching shoes.) and I was unable to change it.
When I looked at the lot details before I went back into the lot, neither of these sims had faces, so I’m wondering if the game treated them like Secret Household Members.
I don't think I've seen a Sim with a missing inventory before, that does sound interesting. But yeah that sounds really weird with the outfits you can't change etc.

Lol yeah I was hoping it would be recognizable because I couldn't really get the animation to look that close to the original. Also to try and get Gandalf's talking animations I ended up adding a random townie to the house but the one I added (Trista Shaw,) looked weirdly like Galadriel and then later they got into a fight.

I've actually had that fire glitch before. Once lightning struck a tree and set it on fire, but when the rain extinguished it the animation stayed, forever. The only thing that was able to finally extinguish that fire was when the game was ultimately uninstalled because the PC had become too old to handle it.
Damn so I guess sometimes the fire is permanent. Someone commented to say that if you remove the roof the rain can sometimes put out the fire when it does that, but I'm guessing that didn't work if it was outside and you have seasons.
Same! One of my playable lots now has a constant background fire atmosphere. I wonder if it would reset if I moved the family out.

some bugs fixed with AL patch ended up breaking with M&G again, so if you have ultimate collection it explains why
Oh no I have an old disc installation that's missing some of the stuff packs including that one. I took a long break from playing The Sims 2 after about 2009 and started playing The Sims 3 a bit later for several years then The Sims 4 on/off after 2019 then went back to The Sims 2 in 2020 so I didn't hear about the ultimate collection before reinstalling.
I think you had to cheat to get them to have crush/love status because they were marked as family members, even though they weren't married. But it doesn't make sense why they were even able to do romantic interactions..... This IS really weird lmao
just delete the roof and the fire will go out when it rains. i had the same l bug and this helped

It's part of the InSiminator mod (I have the object version which is supposed to be the most stable but there are three different versions. I think the separate objects come with all of them though.)

I recently realised the cinematic camera works in neighbourhood view so I started messing about with it in downtown lol and then when I went to the edge of the map I realised if you moved it just right you could get underneath the world.

one thing i’ve always wanted to do on the sims 2 is ressurect all the dead sims from pleasant view but i can’t cos i don’t wanna mess up my version of it 😭
I think a few of them are safe to resurrect afaik like Darleen Dreamer (generally if their grave stone is still accessible it's OK though there are a bunch of exceptions like the Sims in Olive Specter's garden,) but a bunch of the others further back like Pollination Technician 7 are missing character data. I'm not sure if any of the dead Pleasantview Sims that you can resurrect in game are corrupted, but should probably check each one before resurrecting lol. Or just make a copy of the Pleasantview neighbourhood and use that one to resurrect them.
I once aged down a random university townie I had moved in my family and had become an elder, and she also kept her grey hair and elder voice. Don't know if that's a global glitch when you age down elders?
I'm not sure about the voice I didn't really notice that before but the hair might be. I think I had hairs change colours randomly as well while aging Sims down before.
The aging down always results in that hat for ladies, I don't recall what the men get.
I had the same thing with the infinite fire, during a storm lightning lit up a tree and then it was taken out by the rain, but the fire visual effect remained. So now my Sims have a never ending fire rave entry to their house
Also, I was wondering if Kiernan could normally form romantic relationships or get married without any problem, maybe someone tried this I'm so curious lol

The timing of that was just amazing for me lol because I'd never had that glitch happen before, and of course it happened just while recording a video where I was talking about fire and glitches separately. The game decided to fuse the topics together.
I haven't tried having Kiernan get married to another Sim, so I'm not sure but someone did comment before saying this glitch also effects most of the other Tricou Sims although they didn't mention Kiernan.

i didnt realise the cheating symbol came in 2 varients, thought it only had the knife inside the rings not knife snapped in 2
this intrigued me, so i had a look. apparently the knife inside the rings is for having an affair/cheating, while the knife snapped in half is from catching, or being caught cheating 😮
I believe the Bendett name might be there because the default townie household is named Bendett. And Maxis usually didn’t clean up after themselves so that might be an explanation.
As for the voices, it is possible to change them in Sim Description. Maybe it just doesn’t update when Sims age down?
I wonder if rebecka has 100 dates as a wish because it was the original version and then they lowered it to 50 and never updated rebecka? it definitely wouldn't be the first time a sim has outdated information, but also I know hardly anything about the game and started learning about this stuff literally yesterday so XD
Yeah I think they realised it was just too many dates at some point and changed it. You can use mods to reset the lifetime wish of Sims and I've never seen that one pop when doing that, so I think she's the only Sim that can have that one now.
Fun fact: I'm not sure if it is toddler or baby, I think toddler, but I *think* they DO die in fire. They do not react to the fire, but if left long enough can disappear in the game. (I heard this from Cyjon if my memories serve me right).

I think fricorith dying by fire in the sims 3 is simply because the sims 3 is missing the death by satellite. The closest would be by asteroid, but that is not base game so they could not have included in supernatural
Probably unrelated because I just checked the dates but there was a game in 2004 called Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines and one of the levels happens in "Downtown".

I just watched it again after almost half a year and now I wonder - maybe the coffins in the basement weren't actually to be interpreted literally as vampire coffins, but just as coffins? Like, just coffins buried underground? And there's two of them - maybe they're the cousins'? And what I thought of before I noticed Kiernan and Nyllisit being considered family - was that they're considered family, and although they can interact romantically, they can't develop the relationship. And they can get engaged, because it's just an interaction, like other romantic ones and it isn't like a relationship flag, like crush love or anything; and they can't get married because that would link them in the family tree? And maybe Nyllisit can't marry anyone because she's just glitched somehow and is considered family to every sim

And I appreciate you not killing off the Gray Woman, everyone just kills sims for fun and you were like it wasn't necessary. I don't know, it's such a small thing but it was a relief and something else than other vids, so thanks❤️
That's true I didn't really think about that but they might just be regular coffins instead. I think I just assumed it was vampire related due to the spooky vibe of the house and because vampires were released with that expansion.
Yeah that probably is why they could get engaged since it doesn't change anything in the family tree in The Sims 2.
I can't remember this video too well now, but I did make it in Veronaville so at some point Bianca must have come by lol or I picked her to be involved.
Oh yeah I felt bad about killing her off at the time, especially after creating the clips with her. I kind of created a headcannon where she was cousins with Titania Summerdream too for the cousin part, so she had more personality by that point. (And then the weird fire glitch happened haha one of my favourite unplanned video moments.)
Personally, I think it’s supposed to be implied as a curse on the HOUSE. Considering that the vampires in Downtown at start are just the Count and Contessa, I think it’s intended that this was where THEY used to live, hence why there are two coffins. I think the Tricous are basically just tragic victims of a curse from the vampiric presence, maybe even intended that they died to the vampires, since there isn’t a death for that in the game. And then Rainelle died, furthering the idea of a curse.
Also if the game is corrupted every sim on the lot you’re playing on will run but the stair cheat will fix it just fine. (Find a set of stairs, not deck stairs, and shift click and there should be an option to change how they walk, if you don’t know how to change the walking.)
Actually, I think at one point all of my sims in any lot or town ran, I had to individually change it but gave up. Lmao.
Do you know the name of the song at 4:00. I like that song, but I don't know the title. Also a good video. In Sims 2 if a tombstone is moved to a community lot the death is changed to Starvation. I always wondered what the true causes of death of the Tricou Family were. Seeing as Jennicor, Jennail, Fricorith and Gvaudoin all inherited money from Jon Smith, I think it is safe to assume that Jon Smith died of Old Age.

i tried changing a sim's voice in simPE once, but it didn't work. wonder if anyone knows how to do it. it would be cool if adults could have different voices, even if they're borrowed from young adults/elders lol

Oh yeah I mention that later in the video the Teen family Townies are all related to Jon Smith Tricou (the surname Teen will be replaced with a randomly generated name usually, but that's the game file name.) I think they did this so it's easier to stumble on the Tricou story.

How do you get them to have relationship status? Mine can’t have crushes or love status on either of them.. 😢
I just used the insiminator mod to set their relationship flags when I made this video but I think the problem is that they're set as family members (which is why they have that little blue symbol on the thumbnail.) I haven't tried fixing it, but there's probably a way to fix it using SimPE so they're no longer set as family members.
Also the marriage glitch is fixed with the Apartment Life patch, so that might fix the romance flag issues too but not sure. The patch should be included in Mansion and Garden stuff I think. (There might be a way to download the patch from somewhere too but I don't really know.)
in my game i had justin kim get married to douglas leive, who when i click on his family tree, says he’s jon smith tricou’s son (when i click on jon it says nothing)

The Tricou family show up as getting an inheritance on Sim Pe and it can't remove these memories.
No idea why they came up. I only play Strangetown.
It doesn't matter if you only play one neighborhood, if you have NightLife installed (even if you do not attach Downtown to your game), you will see the data for the Tricou family in SimPE.

It's no longer supported, and there are similar things out there but I just got used to that one over the years, and it's comfortable for me though I also use Sim Blender sometimes if I'm having trouble with one or the other.

I haven't looked at his data in SimPE but he seemed OK when I resurrected him with the Resurrect-O-Nomitron he just didn't show up using the InSimenator for some reason.
I remember waiting for this game after being a long time sim city 2000 and the sims fan. It was a huge leap from the sims to the sims 2. I even bought sim city to decorate and create my own custom neighborhood while waiting for the sims 2 to drop! Great memories! ✨🫶🏻
Physiology glitch broke again in mansion garden and never got fixed
Yeah I heard that but I actually don't have that pack either because I just ended up reinstalling The Sims 2 last year from my old CD installations lol and never bought that one back in the 2000s. It is funny that they fixed it and broke it again though I wonder why they were fiddling with it again.
@@CalipersandTongs I think it was like an online patch with apartments or somethin that fixed it.
I knowww but the game was a mess from the start for a game complex like this one I think fix one thing and another thing breaks, so it was doomed to happen D: or maybe they forgot to add the patch to new mansion garden expansion :P

I had a glitch where some toddlers died in the daycare in The Sims 3. At the end of the day they'd die instead of having their parents collect them and since there was no death animation their bodies warped really weirdly too it was the weirdest glitch I got in The Sims 3. So I think sometimes there are glitches that can cause things like that to happen, or mods can effect gameplay too.
@@CalipersandTongs Yeah, the same thing! I found information that creators haven’t coded toddlers’ “immortality” correctly, so children sometimes die by hail of fire without animation.
