Gotta love when someone makes a baby and then acts like they dont know how it happened
I know how my son happened, my ex wife intentionally got pregnant by poking holes in my condom and lied that she took birth control.
Her then college roommate did the same thing, apparently it was a pact. My ex and I had a son, her roommate had triplets. We're all divorced and miserable.
As men we had no rights and could not press charges and were forced to pay for children we never wanted by two women who wanted to trap us into their lives. Nobody won in that stupid plot. Nobody.

@@Shaara1 I don't date crazy women and generally stay away from drama. My ex and I were dating for 8 months before she and her roommate got pregnant. Both were Filipino nursing students, I was a business law student. We had a great relationship and both came from good families. She gave me no red flags other than some mood swings.
Now you could make the argument that I should have not had sex if I didn't want kids, but we both understood that neither wanted kids, especially not while in college. Then again, we both used protection until then.
As a man, I should have had the option to force the abortion since it was forced upon me without consent, but I didn't have that option. I also didn't have the option to walk away without paying child support. Neither did the other guy, with triplets. I'm the luckier of the two victims. And we are victims.
It is sickening how people talk of disposing of a baby like it’s a litter of kittens they didn’t want. Even that is maddening

This happened to my husband and I 33 years ago. We have a beautiful smart daughter with 2 master’s degrees. A happy marriage and are thinking about retiring this summer. Keeping that little girl was the best thing that ever happened to us. Blessings to your new family ❤️

This happened with my girlfriend and I in our early 20's, adoption or an abortion were never on the table. I maned up and married her, that was 42 years ago, best decision I ever made. We now have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren.

It's still a woman's desire to be married not just shacked up. I think the conversation he's been avoiding has been about that, not whether he's ready to be a Daddy. That ship has sailed whether they stay together or not. I hope they can have an honest conversation about their future.

One correction Dr John, he’s not ‘about’ to be a dad, he’s IS a dad. An abortion doesn’t change that.

If he's that on the fence now, once the baby gets here I give him 6 months and he and baby mama will be split up, he's going to skate, and will.complain about all the child support he has to pay. A baby usually does not help bring two unmarried people closer together if there's problems in the first place.

I had two kids before age twenty three. That was far younger than I had ever wanted it to happen, in less than ideal circumstances. But These kids helped me grow and be a better person faster than anything else in my Life. Abortion doesn't erase a pregnancy, but obliterates a child, one you can never get back. I sincerely hope and pray that they figured it out, got married, and had their little one.

Similar situation when I was 27 (30 now). I almost had a panic attack when finding out. Telling my parents was the hardest thing I ever did. And they were happy, I was worried for nothing. I wish I had heard this call back then. You’ll be fine. You will adjust

I'm 24 and I'm this guy, I didn't finish college and had so much shame about it. My parents are wildly successful and have PHD's and as their only kid I never felt like I amounted to what they wanted.

Open it up and God will show you what you need to see. Don’t worry about where to start, just open it somewhere in the middle and start reading. I will be praying that you do not kill this baby. I understand what you mean by that, but many parents abuse their children because they view them as “consequences” instead of “blessings”. Best case scenario, the baby is born and their fear instantly turns to love, but that doesn’t always happen. And in those cases, the kid suffers terribly.
She isn't indifferent... she doesn't want her little boy/man leaving her. So she is willing to do whatever he wants to keep him. Also she is probably scared as well and looking to her partner to support her, give her strength and confidence to go into this next chapter of motherhood
If you’re not willing to support and raise a child, don’t engage in things whose natural outcome can be children. Actions have consequences.

It’s more important to talk to the woman, since it’s ultimately her choice. Maybe she’s 100% determined to have an abortion (or to have the baby) and is allowing/guiding her partner to come to the same decision.
Man up & propose. That's what she wants. She isn't indifferent. She lacks confidence because he is noncomittal. She thinks he will leave her. This is a family, not a business plan.
Even if he married her, he'd likely leave her raising kids by herself. Has happened millions of times.
I haven’t had a baby, but I’ve heard no matter how much preparation you do beforehand, you’ll never be ready. It’s the unknown! A new beautiful experience that is a blessing even when we’re not in the best positions! Good luck to you and your girlfriend

My husband and I married young (very early 20s) and found out we were expecting in our first year of marriage. My husband was over the moon and I was scared out of my mind. When I dug deep, I realized the reason I was scared was bc my Mom had expectations for me to achieve before I had kids. It wasn't about me and what made me feel happy. Sure, I was terrified. But I wanted a gaggle of kids. I have 2. Turns out, my body isn't keen on harboring life for 9-10mo. I have had many miscarriages between my two kids. But our oldest changed the course of our lives in such a positive way (we weren't going down any bad paths) I couldn't imagine life being any different. I am so thankful God was/is in control on that! He is a teen now...and that is challenging some days, but the majority of the time there are these shared smiles between my husband and I on an unspoken thing (too many emotions to name it). I wouldn't trade it for a second! Take the adventure. I really hope he did.
This is my second time hearing Dr. John. I found his neutral to topic does not provide the guidance the caller needed. Not all people find life fulfillment in parenthood. Yes it is possible they change their mind when I have it but it also possible they won’t. And the caller and his girlfriend are young and does not have their career together. I would freak out too if i were in their shoes. This is a personal choice that they have to make decisions for themselves. Dr. John should help them a little by navigating their situation by asking hard questions so they know their feeling and chose for themselves.
I’m so confused by adults. You don’t want a child from these circumstances, yet you created the circumstances. I don’t want a cake, so I guess I better go in the kitchen and bake one.

Some people simply don't want kids. Not everyone finds joy in that role of parenthood, and that's okay. The sad truth is that a lot of kids grow up in situations where they're not taken care of/loved/ect and sometimes I feel like people forget that and act like your "parental instincts" will fix things once you have a kid.

I didn't hear any encouragement from John with the caller mentioned adoption. You have two uneducated young people each with barely above entry jobs, she's pregnant and this isn't their idea of "the right time." If adoption is a consideration for them, there are hundreds of prospective parents in their state who would be blessed to raise this child. In most states, the adoptive parents can cover all the costs related to the pregnancy and delivery....so no worries about that. I don't understand how people can consider killing it, but somehow feel that they can't give it away. I have little doubt that they will likely decide to raise the child themselves, but as a person who became a mom thru adoption, if it truly is not the right time for them, seriously consider adoption as a possibility.
Don't encourage people to have children when they are hesitant and immature. The child(ren) suffer a lifetime when they have incompetent/ immature parents. And it's even worse with selfish parents. I've seen all scenarios play out and I wish people would consider the long term effects when people aren't able to change.... which is more often than we would like to admit. I write as one of the kids of a man who should never have children.

It's a blessing when you are ready for it and when you have the finances to support a baby, they don't have that, this baby will be a blessing, but also a burden because they very likely don't have the finances to support a growing child! A significant percentage of fetuses are lost in the first trimester. That is why the custom used to be not to tell anyone about expecting until after the first trimester.

"We are pregnant" is just a phrase for saying the man is as much involved in the process as the woman. Even if it's more emotionally than physically.
As a woman yes the man isn't pregnant but he should be supporting her and helping take care of her. It's his baby. It's silly to me that woman want a man who is part of everything but complain when they try to be a part
As a brand new, first time mother this call makes me feel so sad. A baby is the biggest blessing! I hope this young couple chose to keep their child and use the pregnancy as a catapult into a loving marriage.

Wow, i hope this young man chooses for his future. It's okay to abort and come back another way when you are financially stable. A lot of people say keep it but then they will need to get WIC and SNAP. Really? No, do what is best for your future. It puts all kind of pressure on you and your partner. Yall want to be the most emotionally and financially fit parents to your child.

Funny thing about abortions: So many women who get them then have trouble, afterwards, either conceiving or carrying a child to term. That doesn’t seem to happen with adoption…

I’m glad that John described what becoming a father and being a father is like for him. My girlfriend and I are worried that she might be pregnant. She exhibits all the symptoms and is about to do a test. I dont know how the results are gonna come out, part of me is scared but another part of me feels like this is the push I needed in life. I feel like this is God giving me a purpose, to do everything it takes to make sure that I have the kind of life that can cater for the three of us. I’m 20 years old right now, just finished my first year of college I dont have a job I dont have nothing. Life back home is simple, we are not rich or anything like that. All I know is we cannot bare to even think of aborting this child. I really hope the test comes out negative, but if its positive I know this is my opportunity to get my life together now. Everything I’m going to do is for my girl and the baby. I know I’m just a kid and I dont know the first thing about being a father, but as men its time for us to step up and leave all this political agenda behind. Its a call for us to step up for our very own biological obligation.When it comes to pregnancy, its no longer about you its about the child. I urge all men to please step up for your child. That is your sole purpose on this earth.

Me and my wife have been dating since we were 15 years old and still don’t feel like we have our life together well enough to raise an entire other human being.

@@lifeaccordingtotheo9643having your life together is different than having it together to the point where you can finance (monetarily, emotionally, and physically) another human being for the next 18+ years. Having children ruins a lot of relationships, adds a ton of financial stress, and causes people to lose their identities. Everyone I know who has children complains about them constantly. Knowing you're not ready to take a huge risk that many people often regret later is a sign of maturity.
