What a great and detailed video. Very inspiring. Thank you so much.
Forget about hooked on wood, I’m hooked on Dennis! Your videos are remarkable and very easy to watch. Great work. You have inspired me.
Dennis, I've been woodworking for nearly 35 years and built 7 different shops because of moves. I'm now working on what I hope is my last shop build in a 2-car garage.
Even with all my experience, I am truly inspired by you, your designs and the meticulous results you achieve. So much so, that I bought the Cam vac, Gweike laser printer and plans for your HEPA Silent Box. I just received my machine shipment from Harvey and will start assembly next week. I can't wait to get the machines running so I can get to the dust collection system.
The most wonderful thing about woodworking is that there is always something new to learn. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous work!
That is a wonderful system. I can easily understand why you are so proud of it! Your videos are also very informative and not at all boring. Good job!
I love this the ascetics and steps to minimize the sound and improve the functionality of it. Hope we can get an update if you find any issues that you work through. As of now I"m trying to model my beginners system in a way that it can grow into your system.
Awesome work Dennis! I really enjoyed the slower pace, and it’s always pleasure to see your meticulous work and the narration that you provide.
I enjoyed the slower build detail and even more appreciated how you separated this to follow the concise overview! Very well done, Dennis!
Once again you knocked it out of the park!! Thanks for putting this together it's the best dust extraction system I've ever seen, and so beautiful!
Very Relaxing watching you make the Silent Box.
I love the slower format and your finished product is amazing. Thank you
I loved the slower build demo, that is truly an incredible looking system.
Great job dennis! Thanks for your design, sharing your ideas, plans and glad to see you’re offering the kit! Excellent project!
Nice job buddy! It's cool to see how excited and proud you are. Thanks for sharing!
Dennis You are an artist my friend, I wait in anticipation for every project you take on. Thanks for all your hard work and attention to detail.
Wow! This system of yours is something you may be really proud of. I enjoy your videos. I can only aspire to be at your level of craftsmanship. Well done.
Excellent work, very clever and inspiring design. Compared to your workshop, the NASA laboratory pales in comparison! Thank you for sharing your ideas Dennis! The pace of the comments is perfect, not too fast for such a detailed work. I keep my fingers crossed for your next ventures!
Dennis, I am so thankful I found your channel man. You have been such an inspiration and your attention to detail has been very helpful.
Everyones situation is different, but your series has led me to finally purchase my 1st Cam Vac (the CGV 286 Wall Mounted version). It will be a good start for my needs and I'm excited to put in place some of your improvements.
Keep being awesome man. Your Content keeps us all Hooked on Wood.....
Very efficient and Very good taste on esthetics too!, you definitely have the dream workshop! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you, Dennis, your dust extraction system looks and sounds really good. You always do a great job with your workshop improvements! Thank you for providing all the details and even the plans. Keep it up. Your channel is my favourite, when it comes to workshop building and improvement.
Wow, the way that you mix form and function is on another level. The only issue I see is that your level of work appears to be unattainable for the average joe in his garage but it’s always fun to watch others at the top of their game. Looking forward to the next exhibition.
Second your form and function comment. Regarding the "unobtainable", I'm thinking it's Dennis' *method* of work that enables him to achieve consistently good results. The way he presents his process is precisely what could enable the average Joe to achieve Dennis' level of work. And it's not about having expensive machines. Anyone can execute the milling Dennis demonstrates using a variety of tools and methods. One need only master the skills needed to shape material using the tools available. That's the fun of the journey and it's unique for each of us.
Your dedication is truly inspiring Dennis. Really looking forward to see how you made your Felder workbench. Keep up the beautiful work! Greetings Volker
Also, for anyone being turned away by the price of the nano max filters, you can pick up hepa rated cartridge filters for ash vacuums far more cheaply (£15-20/filter). Throw in a couple of jubilee clips and brackets and you’re golden
Brilliant ideas and build Dennis. Free plans too. Thank you.
Awesome and innovative ideas.
Wow your work is always inspiring ! Great Job.
Amazing! I wish I had your ability to conceive and design what I want or need. I like the slower pace because it helps me learn things I did not know or did not understand previously.
I'm speechless!
Dennis, you have incredible talent and are a true artist. Love your work!
Very nice, Dennis!👌🏻 I’m organizing my shop now, so I will try to make this! Your work is always so tastefull!
love it, it's better video that the one from my wedding
Awesome video. Thanks for breaking it down in great detail. I will eventually build this setup
Hi Dennis. I recently picked up a camvac at a local store at a very good price because it was slightly damaged so was delighted to see your video which makes such good use of it. I was slightly concerned about the lack of very fine dust collection but thanks to you now have the perfect solution.
Incidentally I also recently purchased a fat300 height adjustable trolley, again a good deal, with a view to building a workbench so am also pleasantly surprised to see you are also doing such a project. Can't wait to see it.
Please keep up these excellent videos and for the record I like the longer format.
realy nice system and very well designed and executed! I love the slower paced videos!👍
Great design. Impressive work!
Awesome as always.
Cool that the Hepafilters are not that expensive.
Like the slow style at the end.
Such a pleasure to follow the progress of this incredible project which is such an inspiration, and something that I will likely attempt. Thanks Dennis, take care, best regards from Brittany France
Hey Dennis, this is an outstanding project!
Brilliant Dennis. Tnx for the great information and beautiful work. Again. Dedicated viewer.
Thank you for another great video not only to watch, but also follow. Ive bought same system as you now, and Im looking forward to get the hepa filters in the mail!
Thank you very much for sharing your great ideas with everyone 🙏 this is absolutely brilliant and extremely practical. Please keep making such great content as I always enjoy your videos and can't wait to see what's next ...... Wow great stuff !!!!!
Good job, looks great and just a wow...
Watching your channel grow has been nothing short of impressive. This build was amazing. Nice job!
Thanks for your comment! Appreciated
Wow, great work and ingenuity!
Fantastic work, Dennis! It looks beautiful! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Парень, ты молодец, полезно и приятно смотреть!!!
wow. you are amazing. I thought I had some great ideas for dust collection but you have me beat. wow.
Once again, excellent work Dennis. The content speed was just right. Kept on topic, no fuzzing around and in a pleasant pace.
What I really enjoy are your approach to shop design, both practical and esthetically beautiful. As you, I treat my own workshop as my second home, and do my best to invest time to make all shop upgrades as nice as possible, just for the joyment ;).
Will for sure use some of your design ideas on this project to upgrade my own setup :)
I love your Work soooooo much! Greetings from Germany
Dennis, these 2 videos on your dust collection system are great! I also have a CamVac and like it for most tools. I'm wondering if you could cover your piping/tubing to get dust collection at each tool? Many thanks!
Great video Dennis! Glad to hear you are liking our NanoMax filters 👍
Yes indeed, I do :-)
I love this system so much!
Dennis, thank you so much for all your videos! I enjoyed the slow build video at the end as well. Could you give me the specs on the Hepa filters for your silent box? The amazon link doesn't pull up the same filters in the USA. Thanks again for all your wonderful information!
Amazing design
Fantastic work Dennis, it’s always a pleasure to see your innovative design and then the construction of your projects! Attention to detail and the fine materials you use always ensure your projects look as good as they function👏😀👍 At first I thought you were creating some sort of high end audio cabinet or enclosure for speakers! Perhaps that could be a project for the future! 😀👍
It is on my bucket list to do one day!
Dennis, if you remove the large dust bag from the CamVac, I recommend to check the part where the lid meets the drum. On mine the lid doesn't seal completely without the bag in place and you can loose a lot of suction power there. Fortunately this can be easily fixed with some sealing tape.
Great Tip! I will look into that! Because I hide it now, I can not notice it, and I did not give it enough attention.
That you have gone to all this time and effort to give us the plans for free is very generous Dennis. Thank you so much. Im going to spend my weekend trying to get my shop ready for this to protect my health and the kids when they come in. Thanks so much
Hi Dennis, I'm in my workshop right now, and just realized that having an option to switch dust extraction from wood to plastic and other debris could be practical, so wood dust that can be recycled and other stuff that needs to be scrapped instead could go to different places. Would be nice to have, with your system (that I hope to be able to make a version of) it's easy enough to go from one type to another by switching the barrel but a secondary receptacle would be great, and exactly the sort of overkill I would expect from you 😂
A good example could be on a project where you ar working with both hardwood and black mdf
Awesome and no not too slow.
Professional quality. Well done Dennis. ❤
My god you are just amazing ❤
I usually cut PVC with my kapex; perfectly square and no sanding needed, great vids again, dankjewel voor 't delen, Dennis!
Is een paar keer mis gegaan bij mij dat hij kapot klapt. Heb een beter gevoel hierbij, maar ben met je eens dat het met de Kapex een heel stuk sneller gaat.
@@HookedonWood Dan inderdaad better safe than sorry! Regenpijp is natuurlijk ook wat dunner dan afvoerbuis, bedenk ik me nu.
Helemaal top Dennis!
Well designed and very well constructed dust extraction system. Maybe CamVac will approach you for your kit and offer it as an accessory. Now we look forward to you constructing some home items, maybe an update on your famous rocking horse?
very nice !
Loved it Dennis. Superb 2 videos. I bought the 2 motor cam-vac because of your video for my small work shop around 6 mnths ago and i couldn't be happier. Actually I could, Cyclone, Silent hepa box, Nanomax filters. One day maybe. Would it be possible in a future video to show how you connect in to the cyclone from the ducting and a closer look at where in the system you have located the safety valve. Big ask I know, I would like to copy your system. complete kit on order. Thanks Steve
Ah those Nanomax filters look so good! When I get mine I think I'll keep the big bag in the CamVac because I don't have a cyclone and want to keep the filters shielded from the bigger chips and stuff the CamVac picks up.
I think you will be happy to release it. Cyclone action inside will be better without bag. And because high pressure system not that vulnerable when get clogged. But most important is to try and error sang choose what you suit best
awesome video again Dennis. Did a quicl calculation based on the CamVac CGV386-6, so the 3 motor variant, with the filters and toggle clamp, no wood or laser cutter at £3000 + acrylic, and it comes to just over £1000. Not bad really considering, and whilst not within my budget, it could be for some. Loving the black MDF with the Silent filter black acrylic. Looks amazing.
You are right, but the CamVac starts decent from a price point of view, the rest are only upgrades you can place in time. It is not that the CamVac is an inferior machine. In fact, it is a very good base. I have a 4.500 Felder, but my 600 euro CamVac wins it in a 4 inch system. So, for those systems, it is just an awesome system and I do not think a hobbyist needs to go bigger than machines with 4 inch air outlets.
@@HookedonWood you’re right, good prices for the lower end machines. Would a 2 motor system work for a woodworker who only uses small machines like bandsaws and handheld power tools.
It looks like the motors run on normal 230V power. I have a suggestion to how you can switch on and off the motors independently via a remote. Use wireless switchers that are made to be put behind a in wall outlett or lamp switch. The in wall lamp switches would be most ideal since they can be switched on and off via switch on the wall and a remote. Then have a remote with more then one button on it which is very common and you can turn on and off your motors independently via a remote and via a button as well. There are even remotes with programmable buttons that can turn on all or two motors at the same time so you only have to push on one button to turn on more motors. Basically you have one button for one motor, one button for two motors and one button to turn on all three motors.
I think that will actually work😀
Goed gedaan Denis
Blijf zo doorgaan ! Shapo
Dank je Rudolph. Leuk verwoord! 🙏
Great system Dennis! Can you provide a link to the toggle clamp that is used to secure and release the dust bucket?
Just found your youtube site and found this pair of videos very useful. Two questions: 1 I clicked on the button for closed captions several times and could never get a single caption. I don't hear very well and I had trouble catching several parts of your commentary. 2. You indicate above (below the video) that plans are available on your site, but when I follow the link I do not see any mention of plans. Am I missing something?
Dennis, thanks for the excellent work and the plans. That setup is exactly what I need to upgrade my dust collection issues in my small shop. I'm running a CNC with a shop vacuum cleaner and a drum sander with a under powered dust extractor. I definitely need this setup. Will the digital files be available for sale on you site? I would be happy to buy them.
Congrats! Very creative and clever! You have a great vison and are openminded for all sense of technology, keeping it functional and esthetically congruent and beautiful! Great work Dennis, bedankt!
Is it you alone working, or do you have a team working along with you? I was imagining me doing the same work, provided that no mistake happens and that I have all the knowledge and IT hardware. When and how could I process and finetune all the video? Really impressive if you do it alone!
It is a one man show😀
Yes!! Thank you for taking the time to show us the build process!
Would adding Dynamat Sound Deadener inside the cam vac can help reduce the db’s?
Great tip
Funny you mention Dynamat, at first I thought we were looking at some high end audio speaker enclosure! Lol.🤣😂🤣👍
Respect, you are getting really good in both technical as well as aesthetical designs for a great workshop (the only thing left is to remove the barcode labels from the rain pipes, wasbenzine werkt goed hier 🙂)
Ga ik doen🤪
Thank you Dennis for posting this. Can you provide details of the pressure relief valve? Your link does not take me to the product that you show in video.
Very nice video! Congrats! What is the benchtop material?
Thanks for sharing your beautiful, inspiring work, Dennis. Have you thought about offering your skills to the Wuhan Institute of Virology?
verybigheart, I think we're far enough on the other side of covid for this... hilarious if you have a dark sense of humor like me.
Hi Dennis, this second video was even better than the first and at a pace which is just right for understanding all the detail.
I am just wondering if I need a three motor CamVac or if I can get away with two motors as there seems to be a significant price difference, together with the additional upgrade components.
Thanks for sharing the plans and all your knowledge that you have gained so far through all your experience.
I would consider the three motor when you have a bigger table saw, especially with overhead dust extraction, you have machines with 5 inch air inlets Or when you work a lot with a big planer. Otherwise, the 2 motor is powerful enough. So, I think for 80% of the hobbyist woodworkers, the two motor CamVac is the perfect choice.
@Hooked on Wood Thanks as always for your advice. If I was just buying a CamVac, then it would be a 3 motor one for sure.
But looking at the original filters in the CamVac and how much mess it creates when cleaning, I would prefer to upgrade the filters as you have done.
I would also like to add the Cyclone system together with the Hepa Filters, so I will have to see just how far my pennies will stretch 😁.
By the way, the Hepa Filters on the UK Amazon site are double the price of your Amazon site in the Netherlands. Serves us right for leaving the EU 🤣🤣.
Will the silent box kit become available again? I can buy everything except the acrylic parts...
For those wondering, in the Dutch language, isolation is used for both isolation and insulation, hope this clears up some confusion.
Thanks for your help 🙏
Great work as always looks to be a good solution for my small shop. One thing I’m a little confused with is where the silent box fits within the system, am I right to think the 3 pipes running into the valves of the silent box come from the exhaust of the 3 motors?
Hi Mark, Yes, that is indeed a very good question. But yes, the CamVac has three (In mu case) air outlets, and these outlets are connected to the Silent Box. That is one very nice feature of the CamVac, because now you can distribute the warm air outside of the space you place it. Making it possible to place it in a cabinet for example.
Great videos; learned a lot. Am looking at the 2000w camvac. Did you look at any performance differences between a 90l and a 55l system other than the frequency of having to empty the canister? Thanks
Camvac 55l is a bit easier to close the lid. Theoretically there is more space for the air to create a cyclone movement inside. Air goes easier past the filters. But I did not notice any diffs in performance. However never measure this. Both are very powerful and I guess the same
Well done, really enjoy the way you present these projects!
I originally had a Grizzly 1.5HP dust collector and found the pressure lacking with my smaller tools. Your review of the CamVac led me to purchasing it and returning the Grizzly. What a difference!
Quick question about the pressure relief valve. Does it negatively affect airflow?
I would assume it does to an extent and was thinking to either buy a metal barrel for my separator or reinforce the plastic one that I'm currently using with an internal plywood skeleton.
I can understand the difference you notice. The valve release does not influence the airflow
Hi Dennis.
Nice to see at least one of your projects suck! 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful design and execution Dennis. 👍
🤣🤣🤣
What remote system are you using for the main power? Saw you clicking it on and off when pulsing!!
Hi Dennis I am new in the netherlands and would like to ask your opinion on where to buy wood. If you would like to give a fellow woodworker some pointers please. Casual shops like praxis and gamma are way too expensive
I like your videos always. I have a Camvac too but struggle with the hose systems. It seems like you use standard pvc pipes which are available in generic stores. Is this true and if yes, can you tell more about an affordable hose system? For example, my routertable has 2 exists which I have connected with Record Power standard 63mm pipes. I think this could be improved because they are too long now. So if you search for a video topic….. that would be a great help :-)
Dennis. What do you use as your permanent air quality monitor in the workshop?
Hey Dennis, why did you decide to upgrade to the 3 motor version? Does you use all 3 motor at once?
Hallo Dennis, can you please link the dust bucket? Thank you 🤗
Kanonnen. Wat een vakman!
Hello Denis,
so, why you finaly decided for 3 motors version instead of 2? 2 arent enough? When you are using all 3 motors? Im just asking because im still not decided which should i buy. I noticed in 1 part video you had 2 motors version...
Great video Dennis! Did you ever consider venting the camvac outside of your workshop rather than through the silent box? Would there be any downsides to doing this?
good question!
One downside is that you would be extracting any warm air in your workshop and venting it outside. Not an issue if you have a cold workshop I suppose!
Dennis, awesome video again but please please remove the stickers from the construction market (Gamma), from the tubes , nice transparent tubes but the stickers....please remove them...
Yep, There a still some small finishing touch things I have to take care of. :-)
Dennis, which remote are you using? Are you using a contactor? Are you only using it for on/off or are you controlling how many motors are running from the remote as well?
No, it is just on and off. I select the motors manually.
The remote came directly off of the CamVac. He just unwired it, put it on his bench (on a nifty box for good looks), and reconnected it to the CamVac with longer wires.
@@petenelson8136 I was referring to the small white wireless remote he is seen using in the video, not the switches that he relocated - I thought he clicked it to turn on the CamVac, but it might have just been another tool. On my CamVac system, I use the remote from iVac with a contactor, but it only allows me to turn the system on and off. Considering how innovative Dennis can be, I had hoped that he might have figured out a way to control each motor independently with a remote.
@@waltersheehey Ah, good catch as I didn't see that remote. Like you I'd be interested in learning what it was. Dennis is a true artist when it comes to his designs, and functionality. Because of what I've learned from him, and all the good comments from people like you regarding their CamVac's, I'm having my new shop wired up for one once my house and new woodworking shop is completed.
Thanks for the inspiration to move to Camvac and the gravity-based ports for the plenum box.
I'm also re-working the control box, but leaving it mounted to the Camvac - I'm adding 3 contactors and a Zigbee switch module to trigger the contactors. This way I can control each motor via Home Assistant - automatically with tool power-on, by voice or by remote. I'll write a small timer/script to cycle between al the motors, with 2 motors running at one time while the third rests, thereby allowing full-time running with no motor running longer than 2 hours at a time. A 1 motor version of the script as well for smaller tools - it will also mean that every time it powers on a different motor will run, preventing any one motor from excessive runtime compared to the others.
Wow, that sounds really cool and smart🙂
Please make this available.
