A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing.
This does not mean that I do get all my products. I also review a lot of products I bought myself.
I started these reviews because, from my experience, not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to do in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which products you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I do my reviews. I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion!
On this, you can count on!
I have a good experience with Banggood.com, and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

You dancing and moonwalking was unexpected and fun to see! Another great review video.

There's a man who finds joy in his work! Good to see, made me smile. Thank you.
Dennis, you must be in heaven every time your in that workshop. Another great video and I hope to see more of the workshop setup in the next one .
Dennis, I definitely know the feeling you talk about at the beginning. Another great episode. Congrats on your dream shop.
I really enjoy your reviews, some of the tools I would never have tried without your recommendation, thanks
Reviews? Adverts
Love it when you let loose! I know that feeling and it is the best feeling when things are really coming together! Thank you again for a great review!!
Thanks Sue, agree with you.
I have some really nice Jarrah Glulam panels to make into cabinet doors and I have never installed cabinet hinges before so the Vieko jig looks more like an insurance policy than a luxury to me! Thank, you review was extremely helpful.
Good to see another China Tools episode Dennis. I would love to see a walk around your workshop at some point in the future. It looks fabulous and I’m sure it would make for a great episode!
You enjoy adverts?
@@MKRM27 If you had been watching the whole series that he has done, you would know that he slams many of the tools as well as says what is good. He also has other videos on making projects.
I have the 600mm T Square, Carpenters Square and Precision Square. For my needs I find them all of excellent quality and utility.
Great looking shop -- very happy you got it for yourself!
Wonderful video, great options for adding squares at a reasonable price. Thank you for sharing this with us today, stay safe from Henrico County Virginia. Love the happy dancing
Thanks for a useful and honest review of these tools.
I waited until Black Friday and purchased the same hinge jig for $32, shipped. The price was too good to pass up. I can't wait until it is delivered. Looks very promising.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thank you!
Thank you Dennis, great review like allways!
Nice!! I been waiting for new video!! You are the best!!
Really like the hinge boring tool. I’m preparing to do our kitchen remodel and I’m going to get this. I like th clamping of this tool. Great video.
Okay... after watching a bunch of videos in this series, Im gonna take the leap of faith and order from this site. Im confident the tools you reco'd that I order will be high quality. What I dont have faith in is their service delivery, shipping and returns (if necessary). Im in Canada, so for fellow residents I'll report back....
the french cleet support for veiko on the wall.....you carve letters "veiko support" ....only you could make such a detail....amazing!
Hi Dennis, I was sitting in our caravan whilst on holiday in Scotland and thought to myself "I haven't seen a video from Dennis for a while".
I checked on CZcams and if by magic there it was waiting for me 😁.
I've bought a lot of tools from Banggood since I started watching your recommendations, from Squares to clamps to rulers to cabinet drill guides to digital inclinometers etc. etc.
The best items which I use all the time are the two squares you reviewed in episode 7 and I wouldn't be without them.
Great new video, and if I was fitting lots of cabinet hinges I would definitely buy one of the hinge jigs 😁.
The kitchen you have been making looks amazing from what we have seen, is it for yourself and family or a commission for a customer ?
Look forward to your next workshop video 😁.
I'm really enjoying our Holiday but look forward to getting back in the workshop at the end of next week.
Take care and have fun, but don't get too excited again, none of us are getting any younger 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Have a nice holiday! Great to see your comments
Grazie mille. Sempre utilissimi i tuoi test!
Hey Dennis! Thanks for the new episode. I thought I would be the only one to loose control like this when everything runs smooth 🤣😂🤣😂. Although my workshop does not come close to your beauty.
Keep going and greetings from Germany!
Andreas
Thanks Andreas, glad to hear i am kot the only one😀👍
Can't say I wouldn't be doing a wee jig now and again if I had your workshop.
That said, I'n not too unhappy about mine... Have to make do.
Best wishes!
I'm sure this morning there was a word of warning here from a gentleman who purchased a Veiko hinge jig which turned out defective. It reminded me of a Veiko pocket hole jig I purchased about a year ago that was defective. I had bought a couple of other Veiko products and I was quite pleased with them. That faulty jig, however, has tarnished my good opinion of Veiko.
Another fine, useful video. (Loved the happy dance.)
great review lots of interesting products
Thanks for another fantastic video Dennis. I loved the dance moves in the workshop. Is there any chance of a review of the router lift and fence you mentioned in a previous episode?
I will do the router lift soon. I think next China Tool video
Just ordered a hinge jig.
I have to make 11 kitchen kabinet doors and 4 large cabinet doors.
So thanks for the info.
It has already arived and works great.
I had to modify the box insert a little bit to fit the mounted device.
Mooie video weer Dennis. Groetjes uit het warme zuid-Limburg !
Hi Dennis, thanks for the recap! Really comes in handy. So, which square do you really recommend? Thanks
Liked especially the part where you got lost in your enthousiasm for woordworking 🙂. Great video!
Fantastic reviews, Dennis! Thanks! 😃
You know, I live near the beach here in Brazil... And still tools, unfortunately, won't work here. 😕
I really need aluminum or stainless steel... So I'm going to take a good look at those. 😊
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
somewhere, ive seen an updated version of this which includes a insert for locating the mounting plate of the hinge. no idea where it is available from or if this is available separately for the older versions.
Op jou aanraden die scharnierenmal gekocht. Ik ben benieuwd. Dank je..🙂🙂
Funny to see you do the moonwalk. You are always so relaxed, so it is funny to see. Love your videos, keep it up. Super mooie workshop heb je. Je bent echt een hele precieze timmerman 👌🏻👍🏻
Great video sir
Rock On, Dennis!!!
I wish you could make about 3 of these videos per day, I enjoy them so much. You would run out of new tools to review very quickly. The outstanding part of your videos, is you review quality tools mostly that a woodworker can use.
🤪🤪🤪that will drive me nuts 🤪🤪
Hi Dennis, really love all your reviews. Do you have any recommendations for correct self-centering drill bits? I tried cheap ones from bangood/aliexpress and was really junk, also it was in imperial, not a big issue but would have prefered metric
Great review, do you know where to buy replacement drill bit?
Another great video Dennis. Will you be doing one on the drill press soon? I'm keen to hear your opinion.
I will keep it in mind. I want to make a new drill platform, and perhaps I combine this with a drill press review. Good idea!
Make video about some tools you use like pencils, which kind, which diameter, etc. By the way sir, to me as a amateur home work this channel is great and I love how tidy your tools are!
I just received my jig and there are a few differences from what was reviewed. The Banggood website product listing looks just like what we saw here. Mine was shipped within the USA. Differences: 1. Product model number is still JL35-A2 but it's labelled "ENJOYWOOD" with "VEIKO SERIES" just below it. 2. The mounting holes now include a set for 32MM. 3. The bracket that holds the Forstner bit is now allowed to rotate slightly (maybe 15 degrees or so) in both directions. Don't know why that is. Quality is excellent and the best part is that the price is now $50.
Hi Dennis, does the hinge jig work for both inset and over lay hinges? thanks in advance
Nice one brother
Once again, Nice work. Any chance MFT jigs and tools coming up?🙏🇸🇪
Yes, I plan a video about that. But not only with China Tools, also well know brands
Do they offer a template jig to mark the box for placing the door and hinge?
Nice moves Michael, I'd say you are great buzz at parties.
Will you please show us your oak project, looks very nice.
Awesome!!
What do you use for the other side when using the hinge jig?
Nice reviews again, but can you also drill the other holes for ‘inside the cabinet’ for the hinges ?
No, for that you still need some rulers. That wood be the epic jig.
good to see you included the dancing haha
Can i ask you a question? where in NL do you buy your oak lumber?
Hi. Your Moonwalk Is better than the Jackson's one! Congratulations. Again, I bought few things, which I don't need for money I haven't got. It's your fault. Thank you for great review.
Dear Dennis,
where's the tool at 3:20 from? I've also got a set but it's way too inaccurate.
Thx for Your response,
János
Does the hinge jig work with Ikea hinges?
the t square seems like the best deal here to me
You sold me on the Veiko hinge jig. I was impressed at the quality. It looked like a good one. But let me tell you about the experience. When it arrived it bore German writing and was missing the instructions and one essential bolt. I suspect it was sold elsewhere, returned, then sent to me. When I emailed Banggood they insisted that I email pictures of the missing screw and instructions. First off, I don't know how to send a photo and second, how does one photograph that which is missing? Nuts!
A shame to read this. Let me know how this went. I do have a spare one. Maybe I can help you. Please sent me a mail to hookedonwood@hotmail.com
HI
WHAT BRAND OF HINGE ARE YOU USING?
Ha Ha Ha!!!! Having fun and looking good doing it!
I cannot see the veiko anniversary sale. When are we expecting this to start?
It should be on this moment
took me about a half a second to hit that like button when you started dancing :)
😀😀
Please help me. What kind of sense makes the 68 mm? After my understanding, it doesn't fit in the 32 mm System.
First time I've seen a woodworker moonwalk! 🤘Is that a moonwork? Or a woodwalk? 😂
😀😀 interesting question 😀😀
interesting ... but some quality british hand tools like "crown" or simular would be great content
Thanks
Love your videos, I typically buy what you review. How about the MTF review?
Working on it. But want to integrate it in a new workbench build video.
The forstnerbit I got with the hingejig is terrible, hopefully it's just bad luck. Also the screws come loose non stop. It's still a very Chinese tool.
Tools are ok company that supplies them are only lined up to sell if you have a problem forget them
Great reviews as usual - but disappointing to add the quick clamps to my cart only to see nearly half the purchase price added again for shipping! No matter how much I was buying. Sure they are cheap - then silly shipping charges - even though it's going to take over a month!! LOL
That is a shame. I don’t see this when shipping to the Netherlands. Must depend on country
Hey Dennis, Ik heb twee vragen.
We're can I get this tool's?
That hinge jig is $75 AUD with discount. I bought the kreg for less than 50. It is definitely a luxury item.
But is more flexible and of higher quality then the Kreg. But the Kreg works. So, that’s why luxury
@@HookedonWood yes I am thinking about one 😁
@@HookedonWood Kregs does not work. It is out of reasonable tolerances after 3 holes. Plastic just don't hold the drilling bit steady enough.
@@donalexey works for me. Maybe user error
Lose control not loose control… subtle but important difference…
🙁🙁🙁 I think you are right. Thanks
Dennis did you find some magic mushrooms in those woods around your workshop?
😂😂😂
You have hit the nail on the head when you mention PARALLAX. I find with my age and eyesight, parallax is prevalent in affecting my accuracy. So many of the modern aluminum based products have poor choices in color and thickness. The numbers and lines get difficult to make out because of poor color to background differentiation. Combine with smaller print and parallax and you could use a string with knots as accurately. Great reviews although you seemed somewhat generous in a couple of your ratings for my taste - primarily due to parallax from overly thick edges. That is my personal opinion but not to lessen the accurate professional ratings you always give.
Hi Clyde, I a fully agree about the Parallax, colors, small prints. Also I do not like the thick edge rulers, like I said in the video. But their seem to be a market for these kind of squares. I believe it is still woodpeckers popular Square. So, who am I to judge personal preferences. So, I try to neutralize this as good as I can in my videos. But the reason why I show almost everything I say, is so people can make on their minds themself as well. As long as my videos give good information so viewers can made up their mind about a product I am satisfied. When they do not agree with my ratings, that is also perfect because they value certain aspects differently. I consider your own value more important than what I think about it. Thanks for your comment!
@@HookedonWood Right and that's why I like your videos: you are giving all the background information to make up my own mind.
the thing is with these T rules , you have to calibrate them yourself, or am I wrong are they perfect 90 degrees out of the box?
Super 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I definitely know that feeling. I only wish CZcams allowed really awful singing without a copyright strike, I love to belt out a tune when im working!
😀😀
Finally a Chinese product that is not a copy! And so the price is acceptable. All those copies from European or American engineering. It's a pitty. So if Veiko makes an own researched alternative, it realy deserves the attention. Yesterday I saw a review of the kreg jig and compared to this Veiko model it seemed crap.
I think it is more flexible, and for sure made of better material. I like almost all the Kreg products I have, but It is a shame it is all made of plastic. At least, it looks like it is all made of plastic. Do not see the value of that.
@@HookedonWood Kreg stuf is made of plastic, probably because production is cheaper if you make large quantities. Once the mould is made the production is cheap.
Double like!
Word of warning. I bought the hinge jig. The bit was blunt and struggled badly on the the first hole. The snap ring which holds the bearing in place scored the drill bit badly because it is poorly sized and protruded in to the opening of the bearing which the drill bit passes through, causing the bit to catch and get stuck. Banggood won't replace or refund the full amount. I've ordered 3 veiko products and all 3 were defective.
I am sorry to hear. Can you please try one more time and tell them you bought it on my recommendation. So, Dennis from Hooked on Wood. I had contact with them on these kind of problems and how they handle that in some cases. They promise to do better. Otherwise, dm me at hookedonwood@hotmail.com with your order nr.
I bought one today for $50 with shipping
I bought a VeikoT square but I can hardly read the numbers so I am afraid my score would be close to 1. A good square but useless as a measuring tool. I wish I had paid more for a good quality tool.
The hinge jig tool looks very good to me as your testing has shown. I purchased that miter square you showed in Episode 7. I received it with very minor damage but nothing a few quick swipes with a sanding block could not take care of. I enjoy using it and it has been a nice addition to my collection. I have purchased many of your 5 star recommendations plus a few others I took a chance on and have been more than delighted with them all. Keep up the good work on introducing these tools to your viewers. I appreciate your integrity and now your dancing skills.
Je kost mij geld, Dennis!
Bought the 600mm square and they didn't send it and won't offer a full refund. Bought almost $1000 worth of stuff and the first time they messed up they can't make it right. Showed me video proof of two packages but I only received one. What's the point of buying insurance?
That sounds really bad!
Did anybody else had a problem with the c-clip securing the bearings: czcams.com/video/TXAouiDAPeo/video.html? Mine have been to big so the forstner bit didnt fit. Anybody has a solution?
There is a 45 inside of that carpenters square, be creative😀
Ohh, great tip! :-)

This is not a "How to" video, it's an long infomercial.
you gotta stop this Dennis, i keep spending money, just received the fonson rail square yesterday :0)
Great! and, did you like it?
@@HookedonWood yes its good, just ordered the t square .
I like the VEIKO stuff but some of it is overpriced.
I agree that I am not fully use to the fact that they start to sell more expansive products. But if I look at the big Square, I find it pretty expansive, the sales price is OK. At the other side, if it is a good quality, and still a lot cheaper than competition, I can not say it is too expansive. But on both the Square and Hinge Jig, It took some time to put it in perspective.
You always cost me money, Dennis.
Sorry Magius 😉
@@HookedonWood I don't believe you. LOL.
Seriously, Veiko and Hongdui make some very beautiful yet functional tools at a great price.
It is no longer worth ordering tools in China. We are forced to pay the completely overpriced moon prices in the usual DIY stores.
Mostly even cheapest sheet metal constructions from the back of Asia production cities, which are then sold there at forty times the purchase price.
Thus one comes also to the small man purse, which must pay now again instead of 15,33 euro for a small construction unit whole 35,70 with fees and haste not seen.
Because the 22 euro exemption limit has just fallen.
Dennis, i have bought the hinge jig after i saw your video, but i must say it is not good. It looks very nice, it is good idea but it ends there. The thread in stop collar is joke, was gone after first tightening and the thread is so shallow i could not believe it. Everiting is loose all the time and the bit is terrible. I like your videos, but this was total waste of money.
Weirdly I watched an old Al Yankovic video right before coming to Hooked on Wood - maybe you should do a collaboration video for CZcams ;-}
Wow, exciting mix.
