    A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing. This does not mean that I do get all my products. I review also a lot of products I bought myself. I started these reviews because from my experience not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to make in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which product you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I make my reviews.
    I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion! On this, you can count on! I have a good experience with Banggood.com and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

    This is the first channel I feel blessed to find. I use homesteading and building channels to learn and I’m used to that BUT this channel has opened my eyes and become a blessing so that I can get past bias and just look for the best tools made anywhere in the world. I use Knipex and believe in German hand tools, I use Stabila for my levels so it’s not new to me but I felt Woodpeckers and Harvey were the only game in town when it comes to the perfect piece for me. Now I have options I can feel good about and they save me money. Than you sir for your channel!

    It is refreshing to find a product review that is as brutally precise as yours is. Most reviews are moderate to in favour of the product but you have shown here that not only do you value your reviews you are willing to change your reviews due to viewer comments, and I find that very compelling.

    I have just bought the 600 mm “Woodpecker” style T square. I have just assembled it (it comes with the “blade and stock” separate) and it is perfectly straight and square. I checked for straight with good quality straight edge and for square with my Benchdogs precision triangle. I don’t know yet how durable it will be but for the price (£23 plus shipping), I think it is incredible value.

  • @walterplaessmann5865
    @walterplaessmann5865 Před 2 lety

    Hi Dennis, I wanted to share that Woodpeckers has redesigned the metric version of their Pocket T-Square. The new version maintains the same edge scales but now has scribing holes in rows of 5 instead of the old rows of 4 (which I suspect was just a metric-ized version of the original inch layout). The new 5-hole rows are marked 1-5mm, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, etc. so every other row ends on a full centimeter. Their Saddle T-Square has a wider blade so it has space for rows of 10 scribing holes on the metric version, but with the narrower blade on the Pocket T-Square rows of 5 holes makes sense. You can see the new layout in the Deep Dive video posted on CZcams today (Dec 10, 2021). I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I did send Woodpeckers this new layout as a suggestion a couple months ago. It’s nice to see they listen to their customers and enhance their products accordingly. Happy holidays to you and your family!

    Just thought I would share my experience with the long t-ruler. After watching this video, I purchased the 600mm version for around $50AUD. Unfortunately, the ruler was simply not square. There was around 6mm error over the 600mm length. I contacted the seller on Banggood and asked for a replacement, and they agreed after a few days of resistance (they tried to say that the square looked usable). The replacement ruler has just arrived and unfortunately has the exact same issue. It seems that they have some quality control issues. The square isn't usable if it is this inaccurate. I will try to contact Banggood and ask for yet another replacement, but I fear the result will just be the same. I hope others aren't having this same issue.

      That is not funny! Was it one from my link? I know there is a model that looks almost the same but is slightly different. (Not that that one should be accurate also). But it is hard for me to understand why one is good en the next not. They do not build it with their hands. A modern cnc runs consistently i assume? Glad to hear they replace it but very disappointing that did not help. But 6mm is quite a bit. Thanks for letting us know.

      @@HookedonWood it was the one from your link, yes. I made a quick video to send to Banggood to show the issue: czcams.com/video/vVlRWo9agw8/video.html. Like you, I am confused how it can be so inaccurate. The issue seems to be with the base t-pieces - perhaps some movement of the workpiece occurring between different machining operations? I am hoping the third ruler is better, if they agree to send one. I will update here either way.

    • @DanielCopelin
      @DanielCopelin Před 2 lety

      Quick update - the replacement item arrived and it had the exact same issue. The machined channel in the t piece is not parallel to the reference face, so the whole thing goes together crooked. I contacted banggood and gave them the option of sending another replacement (if they could confirm it won't have the same issue) or issuing a refund. They chose to give a refund. Now I'm left without a good t ruler!

      I got one this week that looks similar. It is from veiko. That is a new brand. Will review it soon. Are in different sizes up to 760mm which is quite big. I did not decide yet what one I prefer. But in the end I think they are all the same. From my short view it is accurate. It is a red T ruler wit black handle from Veiko.

    I got the bendy one incra style in 400mm and I love it, I use it for architectural drawing and find it to be much better than T ruler designed for that. Pencil holes eliminate several steps where squares are usually needed so that is good. Annoying thing about it is the fact that it doesnt have smooth edge, can not draw smooth line with it but most lines are drawn using holes anyway so not a big problem.
    I got a lot of banggood stuff so far and I like everything so far, everything I got is useful and of good quality, however problem for me is packaging. I also got another incra style ruler, 90° stainless steel 180mm with holes, that came destroyed. It was only packed in its original plastic packaging and banggood bag. Not a chance soft bendy ruler can survive international shipping and national vans packed like that, both sides are creased and 90° edge bent in several places and can not be straightened back into shape. I can not understand somebody just throws that into bag knowing where it is going and what the transport is like.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree on the packaging. In most videos I include the packaging and because of that I can say, that Banggood recently contacted me, how I thought about their packaging and on what fields they could approve themselves.
      So, I hope they will become better and better on a lot of points.

    Good Afternoon Dennis
    5 weeks ago I asked if you or anyone had any up to date experience of tool deliveries to the U.K.
    Not much could be confirmed then - but I ordered 3 items anyway. Engineer square + 300mm Incra style rule + 600mm 'T' rule.
    I received the square and the Incra style within one week and I'm happy enough with them.
    However, I'm still waiting for delivery of the large 'T' rule. Expected date for shipping is continuously set back and presently stated as 02 April .. So if that works it will be 8 weeks delivery ... However, I am not at all confident the rule will ever be delivered.
    I'm not much bothered to wait longer before asking for refund as I'd really like to have the rule but still, sadly, I don't think I'll be purchasing anything else anytime soon.

    The TS-3A could have all the holes 1mm nearer the end. So the first row is 0 - 4mm then 5 - 9mm & so on 10 - 14mm etc thereby having the top scale at 0, 10, 15, instead of 1, 11, 14. Of course the first row could omit the zero hole leaving 4 holes if preferred. There seems to be room for the 5's to be printed on the same scale giving 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 etc.

    I'm done with Bangood. The first order took 1 month to be shipped from Canada, and the second order is slated to arrive two months after the order was placed. Saving money is okay if the shipping time is reasonable. Two months tells me it's being shipped directly from China. The shipment claim was that it was being shipped from Canada.

      Bangood and Ali Express are 100% shipped from China. That's why they are 50% the cost of the exact same item on Amazon. They are also shipped by mail, to keep postage down. Finally, because of the postage arrangements (i.e. the originating country collects the $, destination just delivers), these packages get low priority at sorting / delivery in the destination country. Never use it if you're in a rush. Great for those "I don't really need it now" items where you get a pleasant surprise 30-60 days (or more!) later when it shows up.

    I bought this long T-ruler from the FNICEL store on Aliexpress, the 60cm version. I've just received it a couple of days ago and it's garbage: it's off by about 0.5mm, and the holes look like they were drilled manually, they aren't even in straight rows. So, there are lots of clones (and clones of clones) and you have to be extra careful where you buy from. Or just buy more and throw out the garbage tools…

      Jan, I experienced the same things with this Aliexpress store ('FNICEL Official Store'). The price was a little under 25 Euros inliding shipment. They advertised the same 600mm T-Ruler shown on Banggod (Link from Hooked On Wood) with some pictures of a well machined T-Ruler but they sent me a poorly machined version that has some labels printed on it. The holes look like they were drilled by hand and they are not alligned properly and differ in spacing. I also experienced a shifting runoff of up to 0,5mm. The upper metric scale of the ruler seems to be accurate although it has an offset of about 0,5mm. So I can/will only use this T-Ruler without the 'T' as a stright ruler.
      Very bad quality from a 'black sheep' seller. I opened a dispute on Aliexpress after I realized that I have beend cheated. If Aliexpress is not going to help me with that, I will start a sales complaint with my Credit Card company. I can only recommend to all byuers who have been cheated by Aliexpress sellers that they open a dispute on Aliexpress or talk to their Credit Card companies to get their money back. Don't let them get away with that!

    think incra rulers should get same score as the slide rulers, and for the same reason. if you loosen the two thumbscrews on the incra ruler, you can move the cross bar a good bit out of perpendicular and tighten it up again. the cross bar should be permanently fixed getting rid of that play, and that would make it a precision ruler. had one of these rulers and used it once or twice before binning it. woodpecker style with fixed end much better
