It feels so surreal to see Zero Wing in all its "All your base are belong to us" glory in an official Nintendo video.
But, wow; if only the updates to the NES and SNES Online apps were this consistently awesome.
I think that has a lot to do with how many good games Capcom and Konami made for the SNES and NES and also, a little bit, how many really great licensed games the NES had.
NES is pretty much fine. There's some games it could have sure, but what it does have is pretty great for its library.
SNES is getting there but WAY too slowly and at that rate, I doubt we ever will get there at all, which is a shame because its my favorite retro console

I still want Roadblasters (NES), Bump 'n' Jump (NES) and Rocky Rodent (SNES), along with Super Mario RPG. I was happy when they gave us Claymates (SNES) since it was one of the games I've been begging for.
@@NitroPunksMightHeads it's crazy that Mario RPG would be by far the most obvious to add and yet we still don't have it. I do wonder what the hold up is. Square can't be that neglectful, I mean they gave Nintendo their franchise characters for Smash.

This is the first time that Mega Man the Wily Wars has ever been rereleased in a digital format! This is so awesome!
Mega Man The Wily War began in US as a digital only format: The Sega Channel. It was released digitally again when it was part of the Sega Genesis Mini's 42 game library.

This an awesome selection of games. Zero Wing was one of the OG memes, the rewind feature actually makes Comic Zone playable outside of the first level, and I want to inject the Wily Wars directly into my veins it’s so good!

Comix Zone is one of the hardest games I've ever played. I never beat it when I was a kid. Time to use my super adult skills.

Crazy to think SEGA and Nintendo were once big rivals, and now, you see Nintendo streaming their lineup of Sega Genesis games on their own online service.

Same. I was a Nintendo kid and never cared to own a Sega system till the Dreamcast. I got to try out Comix Zone and was hooked on that smooth game play and amazing handstyle art. Fortunately was able to play it when it came to Windows 95 and remained one of my favorites I've repurchased many times over the years for countless systems. Soooo I'm happy to see it on the Genesis service! There are now awesome games on there now. That Genesis collection Switch port I heard was terrible but these games on the service are excellent. Go figure.
HOLY CRAP THE WILY WARS That was really only on sega channel and the EU and JP had slow downs. I’m so happy that I can play it thank you Nintendo and Sega
Well the slowdown at times can actually be helpful, especially at the god damn yellow devil boss fight in mega man 1 since there’s no pause trick.
(It was also on the Genesis mini!)

Sega Channel was the most ahead-of-its-time piece of gaming hardware probably ever. Played SO many games because of that.
@@alondite215 you could make the same argument for the Dreamcast, honestly. SEGA had top of the line stuff. (Although in Japan, Nintendo did the same thing as Sega Channel but with narration: the Satelliview.)

I love the fact that Mega Man The Wily Wars is getting more attention after several years since its initial release. First, the Sega Genesis Mini (or something like that), then Wily Wars Collector's Edition, now this!
And don't forget Mega Man the Sequel Wars coming out this year.
It's a great game and a lot of people don't know that in addition to the 16-bit remakes of the first 3 NES games, it also contains an exclusive 4th game called "Wily Tower" that unlocks after beating the other 3.

All these years later, Comix Zone still feels really unique and original. I'm amazed we haven't seen a ton of games try to do the living comic book thing.
A remake of Comix Zone with handrawn graphics reminiscent of 90s comics would be awesome.
It was also the inspiration for the game series Viewtiful Joe.
LET'S GO WILY WARS!!! I didn't think Nintendo would put it on the Switch, but I'm very glad they did! The Genesis versions of Megaman 1-3 are similar to the SNES versions of Super Mario Bros. 1-3. Excellent collection, and the only Megaman game on the Genesis.
It's up to capcom really, i guess they have no intentions of putting wily wars o a collection since you already have the legacy collections, but to license it for the NSO, that was unexpected i guess Nin/capcom relations must be that good for capcom to do something like that.

The pricing for the expansion pack I think now is justifiable as its 30$ a year ( considering base nso is 20$)

I think Sega Genesis is kinda worthless as there is so many ways to play the genesis it’s ridiculous and O would’ve preferred Saturn or dreamcast…. But its whatever.

Mega Man the Wily Wars is goated. I'm glad Nintendo put it as a way to play the first three Mega Man games in case you can't get the Legacy Collections for some reason.

this is actually a pretty decent game selection, & yeah still weird to know the All your Base voice track wasn't on the original Zero Wing
also still dumb that Willy Wars wasn't in the original Megaman Legacy Collection along side Rockman & Forte (which has an english translation on the GBA)

Comix Zone is something I never thought I'd ever get to replay! I had it on an old windows 95 PC when I was a kid and never got passed the first level but man it's so nostalgic!

Not the order I would have chosen, but honestly this is really good, no idea about target earth, but the other three games are just classics, Comix Zone is one of those crazy ambitious games for it's time you just gotta try, it was a hard one tho, but we got the rewind now baby. Same with Megaman, Zero wing wasn't as hard, but it still really enjoyable.
Absolutely phenomenal choices here all around. Also, people should pay attention to ShmupJunkie's Toaplan documentary to learn about the team behind the meme

You pay 50$ (40$ if you live outside the USA) also for all other games for Sega Mega Drive (Genesis), N64, SNES, NES, Online, Tetris 99 and Pacman 99, App, Animal Crossing DLC, Splatoon 2 DLC, Mario Kart DLC, Weekly Trials, Cloud and Game Tickets (if you live outside the USA).

As a comic book fan, Comix Zone looks REALLY intriguing. I’ve never played a Mega Man game before, so this’ll be interesting!
Kinda don't want to spoil it for you but Wily Wars is basically Mega Man 1, 2, & 3 but with 16 bit graphics plus an additional mode called Wily Tower which allows you to choose from any of the 18 weapons/tools from all 3 games on there (Which honestly I kinda want to see this idea brought back in the future)

@@Vixikitsi It could also be that I didn’t grow up with a Sega Genesis so all of these games are just straight up Gems. There are just too many good games and the pixel art is fantastic! It’s crazy to think that these games still hold up and look and play better than most indies.
Honestly aside from some of the big games like Contra Hard Corps or Castlevania Bloodlines (but surprisingly not games like sonic 1&2). You are better off getting the physical copy of a sega genesis collection game.

As a person who grew up in the 90s, these are all solid games for Genesis and welcome additions.
It's funny. We all have memories of Comix Zone, Wily Wars and of course Zero Wing, but how many know Target Earth or it's remake and retranslation Assault Suit Leynos.
I Really Hope we'll get our Next N64 Games soon and a General Direct will Happen Next Month for our Annual Summer ones

@@OhSayWhatIsTruth The old FE games getting localized, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Turtles in Time, Harvest Moon, the first three Mortal Kombats, Killer Instinct, etc.
@@SteamyLinguini those are all pretty impossible... Mario RPG and chrono Trigger are big Square Enix games, good luck getting SE to license those for the NSO, they'll most likely remaster them and put them up for sale as NFTs or not release them at all.
You can't get Mortal Kombat because those are up to the nether realms and if they haven't released the classic MKs on a collection yet they probably won't license them for the NSO either.
I'm not sure what's the current state of the original Killer Instinct but i'm pretty sure Microsoft holds the license to the Killer Instinct brand. You will not see it on the NSO anytime soon if at all.

Comic Zone was that game back in the day they made good choices this time around even though I don’t have the switch online expansion .
Cool, my favorite one that I've seen in this video is the Mega Man: The Wily Wars. Ok I've played the first one and the others in Wily Wars, but still very cool because I like Mega Man.
