Relive some of the iconic games that defined SEGA Genesis. Today, three additional power-packed games have been added to the SEGA Genesis - Nintendo Switch Online library and are playable right now:
Space Harrier II
A celebrated launch title for the Genesis / Mega Drive. In this sequel to the popular 3D shoot-em-up, Harrier takes to the skies once more to defend Fantasy Land from a mysterious invader.
Shining Force II
The second entry in the popular tactical-RPG series, featuring even more strategic combat. Sir Astral's squire, Bowie, must assemble an army of light from all the world's races to stop evil from overtaking the land.
Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball
The world's fastest hedgehog bursts onto the pinball scene in an all-new adventure! In this action pinball game anyone can pick up and enjoy, gather the Chaos Emeralds and save four worlds from Dr. Robotnik.

As one of the few people who genuinely like Sonic Spinball both for it's gameplay and for it being one of the only instances of the Freedom Fighters making it into an official game, I am excited for this.

Personally I never really like Sonic spinball, yet I do own physical copy of the game for the Genesis and the comic book from Archie Comics😅
The reason the Freedom Fighters are there is because Spinball is the only game based on the American canon of Sonic.

I love the crap outta it. Always rented out at Blockbuster when I had a chance. I'd say because this game, I love FFT.

Capcom probably wants us to forget it exists. Legit the only ports in existence were done by Sega (Sega Genesis: Ultimate Portable Game Player (Nomad 2?!) and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini) and they were probably emulated roms.
Limited Run Games did a colab with Capcom and released a Genesis cart I believe
@@krZabii it was retro bit through limited run. Retro bit ended up fixing some of the slow down that was in the original.
Capcom seems to have stopped doing the Legacy Collections for some reason, but if they ever do I'm sure we'll get an "Everything Else Legacy Collection" that will have Wily Wars on it.
I'm sure it'll pop up there have been alot of games I've never even heard of added to Nintendo online so it should get there eventually
Shining force 2 is one of the greatest of all time. Please give it a try if you like tactical rpgs

Shining Force 2 is an amazing game. One of the best on the Sega Genesis and one of the best SRPG's of all time. Sonic Spinball is also very fun.

Love that game, I have a ton of fond memories playing it on that one collection on the Xbox 360.

I've tried several times since 99
Each time I get a little bit further and something happens to either my save or the machine I'm using and I have to start all over again. Most further I've ever gotten is just after the chessboard

@@Lmb_kun it came out around the same time as fire emblem. It's made by the sonic software planning before they became Camelot software and eventually worked on golden sun

Don't sleep on Shining Force 2, it's an amazing tactical rpg also beginner friendly to newcomers but there is a hard mode for veterans, also has the most diverse bunch of protagonists that sadly all jrpgs don't use.
It's made by the original team that became Camelot Software who made the awesome Golden Sun Series but sadly fated to only keep on making mario sports games.
Sadly strategy rpg games don't sell so good now, everyone is focused on making the same kind of open world or mindless shooter game
@@shivamarya5225 To be fair were getting a metric ton of tactical RPGs this year. Triangle Strategy. Advance Wars Rebootcamp. Marvel's Golden Suns. The Mario+Rabbids sequel. The Metal Slug tactics. Just to name a few. I for one, am hugely excited about it.

So true! Part of why in my D&D games I very encourage my players to be various races (and while I don't discourage it, I never encourage playing a human. They are totally welcome to do so, and it will be great, but it is FAR more interesting to be something else. Heck, I'm tempted to just have some worlds where humans just don't exist and never have.).
I've never played Sonic Spinball but I've always been weirdly fascinated with the atmosphere and Robotnik's design in it
I have played it, and while it does have a good atmosphere and has a cameo of the Freedom Fighters from Sonic SatAM in the bonus rounds, the game is actually hard.
Sonic pinball was a game I played as a little kid and youll love it
The game is alright. I give it a 6 out of 10 overall. Only four stages but can be pretty challenging. The ending isn't the best either.

Shining Force 2 was my first ever real rpg. Before that I only played 2d platform games, this game introduce me to a new game experiences and challenges.

Sonic Spinball had awful music IMO. The GEMS sound driver's low quality pretty much ruined the music.
@@solarflare9078 Pretty ironic considering GEMS was built for the purpose of making composing and sound programming much easier. What's the point if said composers struggled even more with GEMS in the first place?!

Finally! Shining Force!
Shining Force 2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played PERIOD. If you’ve never played it, do yourself a favor and do it now
While part 2 has the best game play by far, I always felt part one had better music and villains. Plus the story was better. Felt like you were traveling the world to bring down an army. And along the way you meet mermaids, get shipwrecked, end up in crazy towns run by kids, travel through mountainside towns, etc. Shining Force 2 had the earthquake, the Nazca Ship and Taros and that's about it for epicness.

Shining Force really needs to come back with the OG artstyle and gameplay with none of the modern Shining Forces
The sound that occurs when Sonic gets a Chaos Emerald in Sonic Spinball always reminded me of the Cosmic Key in Masters of the Universe.

Shining Force 2 is one of the greatest games of all time. I played it when it was first released in 1994. My family and I still talk fondly about it to this day.

Sega and Nintendo should make a Fire Emblem/Shining Force/Golden Sun crossover. Camelot is working with Nintendo these days and Hiroyuki Takahashi is still with Camelot, it could happen.
Just buy the Sega Megadrive/Genesis Collection.
You'll actually _own_ the games and have more options for playing them, like widescreen.
Unless they have the expansion pass for literally any other reason already. Then that would be a foolish waste of money because they now get them for no extra cost.
As one who has purchased said collection on both Steam and Xbox as well as the Genesis Collection CD (how I first learned of Shining Force) and bough each of them individually on Nintendo Wii Virtual Console (and still have them), it really doesn't matter how a person has access to these great games so long as they get to enjoy them.
If you don't want/need the expansion, that's cool. But so what? That's you.

YESS!! All of these are great editions, espically Sonic Spinball, it was a shame to see that not included in Sonic Origins just as a fun extra mode, but it's gonna be here anyway! Plus it shows they're willing to put more Sonic onto NSO. Fingers crossed for Sonic Advance games when GBA is added.

Well, you could either wait for that, if it's planned, buy Sonic Mega Collection, or even play it on a PC emulator, but it's really up to you.

I never made it past the second stage in Sonic Spinball. So my memories with it are only the first stage, and the settings menu music.

To be fair if Sonic 1 or 3 and Knuckles was coming to Switch online, everyone would've said "Why would I play that when Origins is coming?".
Because Sonic Origins will be remastered in the game, probably will make a new cutscenes for the game like how did dr Robotnik turn all the animals into robots and when did sonic first came to green hill zone?

Sonic Spinball is a fun mix of pinball and platforming, each level even has a boss fight. 👍🏼 I’m also loving the RPG’s on this app - never played Phantasy Star and Shining Force games and they are great.
These are all actually kinda gems. Surprisingly three for three this time.

I hope one day Nintendo, Sega, and EA can work together and bring some classic EA games to this service. Games like Road Rash, Theme Park, Blades of Vengeance, and Haunting, to name a few games from back when EA made good games.

I had this awesome PS2 Sonic Mega collection plus game and they have Sonic Pinball man I had so much playing that game when I was a kid
Oh, I have both Space Harrier II and Sonic Spinball on the physical cartridges. Plus, Space Harrier II was one of my first Genesis carts!
Now this is what I'm talking about great lineup of games.
If GB/GBA proves to be true and it gets added at no extra cost, I might consider getting the expansion pack. I can't justify the price difference for just N64, Genesis, and two DLC for games I don't care about. There should be a cheaper option without the DLC included.

These are definitely some good games!!! Shining Force is super good and highly recommend it. It’s a really slept on game. And sonic spin ball is different compared to other games but it’s still a blast to play and interesting nonetheless!!! As for space harrier ehhhhh kinda meh.
But 2 pretty solid games!!!
