  • The Colorado Avalanche saw their nine game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens. Unexpected to say the least.
But Nathan MacKinnon's points streaks roll on. Can they continue with two very good goalies coming up next against the New York Rangers and Nashville Predators?
We also discuss the new Justus Annunen contract. It's only a two year deal but with Alexandar Georgiev's contract up after next season, what will next year mean for both Avalanche goalies?

Alot of people just look at the record and go "oh how do you lose to a bad team?" The Habs are an extremely well coached team, they stick to a game plan and play together. Give em as early as next year and they will be above .500 if not fighting for the playoffs.
Since Mack kept the streak going i couldnt care less about a random loss lol

Habs came to Denver with some fight. While watching the game, it felt like Montreal was playing the Avs system right back in their faces. With the Avs talent, they were still rifling shots off but to no avail. Big MacK's streak is still intact, and Annunen played well.

1st star of the game was the Habs goal post. We prolly hit that sucker 6 times this game and missed it by under an inch several more times. Lets get the Rangers tonight!

Listen, Jack Johnson said it best: They have NHL players in their team too!!
It happens. We are still the Colorado Avalanche and we are gonna do what we need to do..
The game had an interesting feel with it. I truly think when they scored that first goal right after ours, just kind if set the tone...
But my question is.. What happened to the sound track 😢😢

This is a perfect example showcasing that coming from behind to win is not a good strategy to win all of the time. Plus on top of that you have juice letting in two pretty soft goals. The first one there's absolutely no excuse for him to let in, and the second one he just spreads out into a snow angel and isn't aware of where the puck is. The defense certainly didn't help on that goal. Just a little bit of a rough game all around.

I thought they played okay against the Habs. Did I expect more, after that comeback win against the Pens? Absolutely. There were moments in that Habs game that cause PTSD flashbacks to their first losing streak at the beginning of the season. I felt like they got a little desperate which caused them to be a little less disciplined… Hence all the pole shots. I am actually slightly glad they lost though because I’m hoping that loss lights a fire under them for this next stretch and potential winning streak. I think Chris mentioned a few episodes back that he is okay when they lose to a lesser team than to the better teams and I agree. Better to learn from mistakes made in lesser games than in high stakes games. Take the L, learn your lesson and comeback swinging against the division rivals and get those points.

boys just didnt have it , shots missing like crazy , passes going to no one alot :( again first shot a goal for them and us but still ,and 0 for 3 on the pp in the first alone , pp was very disjointed , think we only had one shot in those 3 pps in the first to like man , oh well

  • @kaydirling
    @kaydirling Před měsícem

Eh, one of those games where they kind of beat themselves. Shoot the puck FFS - Val had a golden chance to shoot on a 2 on 1 and decided to pass, for just one example. They do that a lot and it gets a little frustrating. Spending the entire last third of the 3rd in the penalty box was a killer. All that said, they still didn't play terribly, they hit the post multiple times, and as Chris has pointed out, the other team is a) professionals and b) also trying to win. Shake it off and play hard against the Rangers. At least Mack kept his streak alive!!

Like Coach Bednar said, Annunen probably wants both goals back, that's what cost the points. If you want to win the central, your goalie must be on top of his game. We'll see tonight how the Avs handle the current best team in the league: the New York Rangers.

  • @jackmannschreck726

Can’t win them all, I thought the habs had more energy and that’s what happens when your coach is returning from a 5 game absence due to a family emergency. The Avs kinda just got goalied by montembeau and there’s really not much you can do about that

The Rangers and the Preds are next. The Avs needs to be better than pretty good. If the Avs had been pretty good against Montreal they would've won. Losing to Montreal at home, no excuse!

There's been DEFINITE defensive lapses for Makar and Toews this season, to Kyle's point. Y'all just talk about offense from the dmen and that's not really what the issue is for me. There's plenty of offense, they need to figure out defense, and how to grow a pair and make some hits (Makar only has 34 hits ALL YR) and stop net front garbage. It's playoff time! Time to stop being soft cute skating wusses

This episode should had been called “BACK 2 REALITY “ as the real Avalanche showed up against the Canadians. As expected all the top players played their 20+ minutes with Cale Makar playing his classic 26 minutes . The team has three lines of defenders so each line should play 20 minutes. Makar has reached his peak in terms of career numbers and no Makar isn’t the top defender of the league. That title goes to Quinn Hughes of Vancouver. Mackinnon will probably get lots of 2nd place votes in Hart Trophy voting when the regular season ends in mid April. Now the powerful Rangers are coming to town. How about talking more about that game? Are you guys staying up late tonight to talk about the Avalanche lost tonight against the Rangers? Pop the champagne for 2nd place in the Hart trophy voting for Nate Dog .
