      If we're talking about pressure.
The Golden Knights are the defending champions and they are wild card right now.
      So that's double pressure.
4pts behind the Predators and 6pts ahead of the Blues, so they only got to worry about St-Louis.
Everything can go right or wrong in the last 10 games. Then everything is possible in the post-season.
I think Vegas will make the playoffs over St-Louis, because the Golden Knights are a powerhouse.
If Vegas makes the playoffs, winning the SC is a MUST.
They're getting older, their window is shorter like 3 years at most, if not shorter.
Whereas Edmonton have a 5 year window or more, because they've got McDavid.
The pressure for the Oilers comes from the fact that they've got the best player in the league.
Other than that, they're performing well, so it's not really a must win until they at least get to the finals.
Toronto's window is about the same as Edmonton's, it was a 7 year window 2 years ago, now probably a 5.
A lot of things change in 5 years. The Leafs' pressure also comes from the drought and the media in Toronto.
I know it wasn't a criteria, but I had to consider it at least a little, so for that reason the Leafs need to win the cup more than the Oilers.
Boston are always going to be up there no matter what. The Bruins are one of the franchises with the best management.
It's also a must for the Bruins to win the cup every time they make the playoffs, like the Habs back in the day.
So the pressure for Boston is off the charts, just like it is for Vegas, but for different reasons.
Vegas needs to win bc they're getting old they've won last year and they could miss the playoffs if they don't get in the back door.
Whereas the Bruins need to win because they are at the top again, like last year, and they do have to avenge themselves like you said.
That on top of a need to win every time you make the playoffs is because they have high expectations.
For that reason, I am putting Boston ahead of Vegas, but then again, Boston's window is bigger.. I guess we'll see.
I think my top 16 would look like this:
16- Washington (although they won't make the playoffs next year, and they're heading for a fall soon)
15- Philadelphia (they don't need to win, they need to perform well to get confidence for next year)
      14- Los Angeles
      13- Edmonton
      12- Carolina
      11- Nashville
      10- Vancouver
      9- Colorado
      8- Tampa Bay
      7- NY Rangers
      6- Toronto
      5- Boston
      4- Florida
      3- Vegas
2- Winnipeg (they're window is a bit bigger than Dallas who's going to drop first, at least the Stars got more young guns)
1- Dallas (they won't be able to stay on top once they lose Pavelski, Seguin, Benn)

Carolina needs a cup way more then the panthers do. Thats coming from a panther fan. Yeah I would kill for a cup but carolina needs one to keep themselves from being called the conference final leafs. Meaning out in the conference finals every year.

    @saschaganser9671 Před měsícem +30

    I see it very different.
Need it the most: Teams like EDM, Canes, Leafs, maybe Bruins.
Take the Oilers - they have Draisaitl on one of the best deals in the league. They have the best player. What if they can`t get it done another year?
There will be a point where they have to blow it up, Nurse is overpaid, Campbells contract is already a problem, Kane can drop at any point now.
Draisaitl is UFA after next season, MCD has one more year.
If they fail again, Drai might be out and things might fall apart quickly.
Canes have the issue that they have been a good team but never made it deep into the postseason. What if they fail again? Do you restructure the team?
Same for the Bruins. 2nd regular season they play great, but what if you`re ending in the same way as last year?
Add the Leafs - how many times do you want to try till you conclude with this structure you won`t win?
The Jets and Nucks have a great year, Jets might be able to resign Dillon or Melo, and then they can just try again next year. Same for the Nucks - the core is signed, quiet young. They can try again, with a bit a different D.

Now me? I’m sure you’ll notice a pattern with who I’m cheering for to win the cup this year.
Out of everyone we’re expecting to see go, I have my heart set on wanting one of the following
    Canucks (Haven’t won yet)
    Jets (Dillon)
    Lightning (Duclair)
    Stars (Pavelski)
    Hurricanes (Burns)
    Nasheville (U2)
Now I’m not betting on any one of them to win. I’m just laying out who I want to win. Realistically, I’m too much of a homer to truly have an objective grasp on who has the best shot right now and why and am trying to expand my mindset to be able to properly see entire nhl landscape

Yes they won the cup a few years ago and they will have their core of super stars for several more years, but they have now been one of the cup favorites for about 5 years in a row. Its been long enough run that 1 cup could start to be considered a bit of a disappointment.

Definitely the Panthers. We desperately need a cup so that other teams' bums can stop saying "hurr durr no cup".
But when speaking from a team perspective, the Panthers almost got their hands on the Stanley Cup last time, if it weren't for so many injuries. Barkov is still in his prime, Tkachuk has been an amazing alternate and an overall key piece, OEL and Mikkola have been amazing additions, Reinhart is on an absolute heater (who'd guess he would ever score more than 50 goals?), Forsling is one of the best D-men on the league and Bobrovsky is still amazing (fell off a few games ago but I still believe he's got it in him) and Stolarz is an underrated brick wall, currently with a .945 Sv%. Some people are starting to question the additions from the trade deadline, saying it "broke the chemistry", but I believe Tarasenko will perform well, Bjornföt seems like a solid D-man. Okposo is the only doubt I have.

Forgot Rope Hintz in that discussion, Mason March he is a beast on the ice, Ty dell he doesn't ever take a shift off kid works harder or as hard as any player, Tanev is starting to feel comfortable, Radak Faska man he is a presence on the ice, just feel all the pieces are there. I think Vegas is way too high if you look at their positional groups they really only have about 2-3 guys who are over 30 in each positional group
And as we know the reason why Vegas continues to play at a high level is not simply just because of the main core it’s because of younger guys like Dorofeyev,Cotter,Kolesar,Hague etc playing well in there roles and providing much needed depth
And Vegas will continue to find gems like these guys
I think Marchessault and Hanifin likely both get extended while Martinez,Carrier and Stephenson get handed there walking papers I think Hertl likely replaces Stephenson they have plenty of young defensemen depth with guys like Lukas Cormier to replace Martinez
And we still have guys like Hague and Mcnabb to replicate that physical presence of Carrier
And Mantha is essentially a rental 🤷‍♂️
