8 20 goal scorers is just bonkers. Who on earth do you defend when every player on the team is a goal scoring threat? If Otter plays decent hockey that team is unbeatable.
@scottstenlund433 New York did not sweep Dallas. They beat us the first matchup.
Was just thinking that. They could be trouble if the goalie gets in a groove.
It's interesting to see, the Avs when they won the cup in 2022 had 7, 20 goal scorers and 1 at 18 goals to end the season. It really spreads out the threat and makes it hard to focus and shut down.
The stars and rangers both each one one game against each other this year lol what are you talking about
@scottstenlund433 The Stars won the first game 6-3 and the Rangers won the second game 3-1. What are you talking about?
I liked your assessment for Detroit. Playoffs are the goal this time. Noone in a Detroit is holding out for a cup, but to make the playoffs is a legit step up from years past
As a cats fan, I’ve continually watched Detroit this year and been amazed. Wish them the best in playoffs
Deff may miss
I don’t like Toronto but an Edmonton Toronto final would be epic. Betman would lose his mind.
This could very likely spark civil war
Yeah Bettman would hate to have 2 of the best players and 2 historic franchises in the finals against each other
Oil actually have 5 20 goal scorers: McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman, Kane and Henrique. And RNH has 18, Bouch and Foegele have 17.
I think it was put as 20 plus not including players from trade deadline.
@@hoboville12345that would be weird because… they’re on the team, and they will be during playofs
@@hoboville12345
The Hockey Guy mentioned the 19 goal scorers so no. He's only human so it makes sense that he forgot some teams that had 30 and 40 goal scorers. They were included for Dallas though.
The problems with the Oilers is, that all these goal scorers only on s line with McDavid or Draisaitl area making their goals.... It was the first time in the last games that a 3rd (Kane /Perry) or the 4th line are scoring without one of them. That makes hope, for all the line with Perry and Kane can be a huge impact for a long playoff streak.
@@michaelscore6763did you just have a stroke
Ranger fans fear success. They know what I’ve seen live: Yzeeman’s Red Wings, Lemieux’s Penguins…winning the President’s Cup and going home early. NO ONE who is Rangers fan feels confident. We’re cautiously optimistic because it’s been so long.
That pretty much sums it up
Only 30 years, far away from a new curse
Rangers fan here. I’m not so worried about the curse that everyone talks about, but just being a fan and knowing this team over many years. They do 1 thing well and that’s disappoint. I hope they win, but you can’t be confident and a rangers fan in the playoffs. If you are you haven’t watched this team much. With that being said LGR!
@TheKisj People give Habs lots of heck even though its been 31 years since their last Cup win 😄
@@The_Rat_Pack_Dayz I’m in my fifties.. I won’t have long to see them win another. Facts.
The argument for the Canucks is they clinched a playoff spot and therefore can technically win the Stanley Cup.
The argument for Buffalo is that they’re a hockey team in the NHL and can technically win the Stanley Cup.
Let's keep in mind there potential 16 winners and then in several weeks only 8 then just 4 😄
They haven't just clinched a playoff spot LOL They will probably be number one in their division
Cant believe this season is almost over. Went by so fast, but was a great season
‘Tain’t over yet!
@@oilersridersbluejays Maybe for those who are still in the wildcard race
best part coming up
Fun fact since you mentioned it! There has been a season with multiple 100 assist players. Mario Lemieux's only season with a 100+ assists was 1988-89 where he had 114 assists. Gretsky also had exactly 114 assists that year.
I feel bad for you. You have to say with a straight face that the Leafs have a chance of winning the cup. Poor guy.
Anything can happen in the playoffs. The leafs winning the cup is very unlikely though
If it's not zero, then there's a really tiny chance. In before someone uses the Han Solo line.
My bad for downvoting.
THG must be feeling pretty good. All 3 of his teams have reached the post season.
He must have also felt good when two of his teams made the finals in 2011. Satisfied with either ending
The jets have 5 20 goal scorers if you include Conner and Toffoli who have 31.
and 13 forwards with 10 or more goals
@@IainMacaulayce I Love The Hockey guy, so I hope my comment doesn't sound too bitchy. He forgot about the 30 plus goal scorers on the Oilers as well. This guy makes so much content it's OK if he messes up once in awhile.
@@tinetubes He also said Boston has the best goalie tandem, but Helle and Brossoit better
You mean include Monahan and Toff. KFC is obviously counted. But yeah come end of season we should have 6 20+ goal scorers.
@@SherLock55 Now that you mention it I'm thinking he omitted the players who arrived around the trade deadline. The oilers are 1 short as well and Henrique has 22. I guess that makes sense, since I skipped to the Jets part of video.😅
Canes have 5 20+ goal scorers counting Guentzel, who isn’t listed in the canes stat page. Then you have Svech with 18. So pretty close to 6 20+ goal scorers
not to mention Svetch had a shortened season due to injury, so he would have been 20 easily on a full season.
Great job, Shannon. 👍
With 420 goal scorers you'd figure Philly would be a little higher in the standings...
Our power play would still find a way to be dead last 🤣
They keep getting smoked.
You should be thrown in the joint for that joke...
4 canadian teams is awesome
I hope Edmonton doesn't go up against Winnipeg because that will mean that one Canadian team will get eliminated for sure. Would be awesome if the final two were both Canadian teams!
It’s very unlikely the Preda catch-up and overtake the Jets for 3rd in central. jets and oil can’t meet till WCF
if you think about it, it would also mean that one of the Canadian teams make round 2 for sure.
so really It’s a glass half full/empty thing
Leafs are the only team in the East making the playoffs. They could go to the Final, but I wouldn’t count on it. Edmonton has the best chance out of the four Canadian teams making it, but I’m not betting on it neither. If Edmonton makes WCF, I’ll consider myself relatively happy and the same goes for the other three Canadian teams.
great look thx brother
Made it before the sound. Rad.
Good luck to all its gonna be a battle forsure.
Shannon, you are money! Awesome job
Given that a lot of Bruins fans said they won't even make the playoffs this year, three points away from league best is pretty amazing. Hopefully a better run in the playoffs.
At the beginning of the season, I was thinking Wildcard.
I hope the Rangers win the Cup between now and the next Solar Eclipse
Next 20 year before another one😭😭they got this
If u look at their 5v5 stats, you will realize they are not winning anything this year
@@user-sw7ob2zk7pTheir 5v5 stats are much better than the last two years and they went to the ECF two seasons ago. Nothing is certain in the playoffs, but they have as much of a chance as anyone else at the top.
They win one Cup every 84 years. Lovable losers
@@brianrupp5974Glad you love them! They did win 3 Cups in 12 years to be fair.
Fitting that ur wearing a Gretzky Jersey, cuz ur also The Great One!☝🏻

People underestimate the Rags having Quick. Not only is he a locker room guy, but he can also be thrown in in an emergency and you KNOW he'll answer the bell. He's done it time and time again in his career.
You are the best
Let’s go Bolts baby, I’m excited to see the boys represent us in the post season again
The fact that the Red Wings are on this board, man it feels good!

The Canucks haven’t had great goaltending without Demko, but if you need your goalie to steal every game, you’re not winning anything.
It's not "stealing" every game. Every good team has a goalie that can make a big save on a defensive break down.
reading this comment as a bruins fan:
👁👄👁💧
Demko had a .893 save percentage in the month of February (11 games started). Maybe the Canucks aren’t playing good defence recently? Do you see how many odd man rushes they surrender, and how passive they are on the PK? No but just blame DeSmith I guess. Canucks also have one of the worst Goals For since the All-Star Break, putting even more pressure on the goalie in net since the team isn’t scoring much.
Doesn't matter as long as they score more than the goalie lets in and the Canucks have no problems putting up goals, they're 4th in NHL scoring with 263 goals, a 3.55 GPG, as long as the scoring stays above 3 goalies stay under 3 GAA the Canucks have nothing to worry about.
Colorado's Alexandar Georgiev has started 60 games and allowed the most goals this season at 173 with an .899 Sv% and a GAA of 2.96, most people would look at those stats and say the Avs have no shot at the Cup, but Georgiev leads the league with 37 wins 17 losses because the team in front of him is leading the league in scoring with 291 goals.
For a goalie to "steal" a game their team has to be outshot by a huge margin, the forwards and defence outplayed at both ends and still squeak out a win. You talk as if that's going to happen in every playoff game and it's simply not. The Canucks get an average of 28.5 shots per game and give up an average of 28.6 shots per game, they outscore their opponents offensively and defence is average, comparable to most other Ds going into the playoffs, not the best but not the worst either, their goalies haven't had to steal any games.
watched the video but still trying to understand How Each Team Could Win the 2024 Stanley Cup
Maybe if we just all agreed on a tie?
Was looking for this comment he pretty much just said numbers
@@Me-eq3sg he did😂🤡
Nice to see 310K subs! Go THG Go!
Tampa could be viewed at having six 20 goal scorers as of now if you count Duclair who is at 22 on the season and producing at a higher rate since coming to Tampa and if Cirelli hits 20 then they be at seven
Cirelli got 20, Duclair should also count because he’s part of the team now and will be a threat in the playoffs
Gretzky had 118 assists in 74 games, 102 in 73 games and 109 in 64 games.
And that's back when he played for an offensive juggernaut in Edmonton! How many ridiculous goal scorers were on that team! Even a Damn scoring 48 goals!
I’m a flames fan but hoping a Canadian team can get it done. Bring the cup home b
Hoping for a canadian team but not Edmonton right? Otherwise you wouldve made the Tanev trade with us....I heard you nixed it even though we offered a 1st rounder....🙄

Hurricanes Stars, unless vegas decides my january futures was too juicy for them and make the call to switch it
My finals prediction is Stars/Knights, Rangers/Panthers. Would love to see a Dallas/Florida or Dallas/NYR series.
Great Video, as usual, Shannon - I'm glad to see you wearing A Rangers' Jersey (Like Power Rankings, I'm guessing that is that you think that they'd have the best shot, no guarantees).
Great thumbnail. I miss Naz in Colorado. He was my favorite Av.
Fun fact: There was a season in the NHL in the late 80’s in which two players had more than 100 assists:
Lemieux and Gretzky both had 114. Lemieux also had 85 goals, adding up to a total of 199 points that season.
Perhaps it would have been wiser to have held this video until the final day of the season...considering the situation in the East.
Let’s go Stars! Party like it’s 1999!
For the Leafs, Matthews alone should count as three twenty goal scorers.
...and if they divvy him up on 3 lines...
1988-89 is the only time Gretzky & Lemieux both had 100+ assists. Wild if it happens this year!
I'm curious to see how the Leafs, with all of Brad's additions, fare against the Panthers. The Leafs have been playing well recently, and both Domi and Bertuzzi have really stepped up their game. I feel like the notion people have that the Leafs are “soft” has finally been addressed by Treliving.
The issue with the Leafs is that they are still soft in the top 6.
@@people3865 domi and bertuzzi are both on the first line with papi, if keefe swaps them around tuzzi will likely be on second line with JT and Willie. also the D is decently gritty now, Edmundson, Benoit, McCabe.
holding out hope but i've been a leafs fan my whole life, very prepared for a first round exit
@@highgogoat as a fan.. I expect 1st round exit. that way if they actually do well I can be shocked.
@@people3865 they have at least one guy on every single line that will drop the gloves. Half of their top 6 has dropped the gloves this year.
I can’t see the Leafs doing much of anything. I’ll believe it when I see it
As a biased VGK fan I’m naturally gonna say VGK for the repeat but if not then I’ll say Dallas in the West and Carolina in the East. May the best team win
Before the season started I liked VGK vs. The Canes, so I will stick with that. But if my Knights get beat, I’m with you, the Stars look like they are peaking at the right time….
Vegas won last year with depth scoring and now Dallas has it in spades.
its really sad Devs arent making the playoffs after having such a good season last year
Did they change the playoff-placements?
Wasn't it always 2. vs 3. of each division and 1. vs wildcard depending on conference standings?
I'm a Flyers fan, I've seen this movie before, we're going to miss. It has still been a good season.
Canucks Game 80 is going to be HUGE!!! That ONE SINGLE GAME could determine who wins the division.
I can only dream..
Lack of center depth for Boston is a great point.
I think Flyers will win it all. They scored three goals last night, that's pretty good.
As a Leafs fan, I couldn't even start making a video on how they have a chance lol
Because they don't.
Jets Jets Jets
The curse was if you held or touched the presidents trophy you arent supposed to hoist anything before lord Stanley.
It's another year with Harold Ballard s Curse in full effect 😅
Shannon. How do you wear a jersey with Rangers name with Islanders colors ?
Use to live in New York Area !
As a rangers fan I dont care about no curse I still believe either way
It’s not a curse. It’s simply a testament to how difficult it is to win the cup. Also the fact that other than making the playoffs, the regular season means jack squat. Since the earliest my squad would potentially ever see yours would be the finals, good luck 😉
GoJetsGo!!
So what, did the curse start right after that with the Red Wings? 😅
LGRW
U wanna hear a cool stat? The Bruins top 2 centers Coyle and Zacha, have more points combined than Bergeron krejci did last year.
I partook every time THG said "4 20" and I died.
Ok
As a flames fan this season can’t end fast enough lol
Calgary will be in for some tough seasons ahead unless they at least do a mini-rebuild starting this off season.
Lets go Lightning!
Nashville doesn't have the defence to stop Colorado, the Avs don't need to worry about goaltending.
I always thought regulation/overtime wins was the first tiebreaker. Is it actually the second tiebreaker and regulation wins is the first?
Regulation wins became the tiebreaker with the most recent CBA.
Jets had 5 20 goal scores when the video was made and now Vilardi is too?
Best goalie tandem is helly and brosoit
Tortilla- OUT !
It’s gonna be Dallas vs the Rangers, I’m calling it now
Monty blew it last year by not giving Swayman a start when Ullmark started flailing. He can't go with just one tender again this year, plus if he doesn't use Swayman again does he walk?
Goil!
Not that it would matter right now, but there’s a chance Vancouver could have had at least 2 more 20+ goal scorers if Joshua stayed healthy and if Lindholm’s production matched his contract.
1988 - 89 Both Mario and Wayne had 114 assists
right people might think i'm crazy but i think it will be another west coast winner again, i just think that the east is so stacked with teams that are really really good i think a lot of those series out in the east are gonna be wars, not to say that there wont be some slugfests in the west i just think the east you hve to make a case of beating a toronto boston florida new york tampa that's a lot of quality you have to cut through to win
The Numbers for the avs are super wonky due to our injury troubles throughout the season. You could argue we have much better goal scoring if all of our best players were healthy all season. lehkonen and nichushkin are each 30-40+ goal scoreres. If they played a full 82 game.
Kinda wish he had changed jerseys for every team
The Oilers 🟠🔵 are like the T-800 from The Terminator
Just won’t stop! Ever!!
Only time was 88/89, Gretzky and Lemieux
My potential Champions have been Oilers for the past two seasons, this could be it 2024 😄
New York islanders could be cup tenders
as an isles fan, drugs are bad bro. we'll be lucky to make it out of the first round 😂
They may make the playoffs but, they are going to 2nd Rd!
All I’m saying is that they’ll probably be playing the canes, and it won’t get no easier from there.
@@boogerbreath1 considering what the Islanders are and the fact they don't have enough talent and combining it with pretty much every playoff team is better than them and a tough out! Plus they all got better at deadline, we didn't! That's why I'm not worried if they don't make playoffs! Would probably be better cause you would think it would open Lamoriello eyes this team isn't good enough and he's do something! That said, I think they'd be better off if they made it going in as wc2! That would have them play the rags which you would think, how could that be better, they're better than the canes! Funny thing what a long standing rivalry can do to a series! AND Sorokin and Varly have a combined 10-8-2 career record vs rags with 6 SO!
Is that like chicken tenders or more like legal tender?
Sharnks
As a Jets fan, I expect nothing. Anything good will then always be a pleasant surprise.
Dallas vs NYR SCF...
Oilers hurricanes 06 finals rematch
I said that for this year too, except the winners are switched this time.
I hope I’m right.
Dallas v Florida or Carolina final
Without the matchups set officially, I prefer two measurements. Road warrior records, and points diff. I know people say well, there are a lot of cheap goals during empty netter finishes, but I think it levels out between teams over time. So here goes...Atlantic: BOS-FLA. TOR has a good road record, but man that +58 for FLA towers over that division. Metro: NYR-CAR (see below*). Central: DAL-WPG. (see below*). Pacific: VAN-EDM. Again, EDM's ptdf separates them. Some teams it's hard to put a barometer on, because they have evolved or devolved over the course of a season. That said...Wild Cards: TBL and NSH. Especially if CAR draws TBL in the first round, TBL will bounce them. It's karma. Don't know why. Don't care about the records. Makes me sad. But I am a realist...NSH has enough weapons to bounce anybody in the West, barring injury...I'm sure I'll have a good chuckle when I see the opening sportsbook odds. They still had STL as a 50%+ prediction to make the playoffs just over a week ago. NSH? 19%...
Jets got 6 20 goal scorers and 1 at 18 and another at 17.
Could be 8 at season end
go jets
Ummm the Jets had 5-20 goal scorers not 3! And now it’s 6!
Watch out for Tampa everybody! 🙂
I was hoping for an actual argument for each team, but this was mostly numbers. Interesting as usual, but didn’t really live up to the title unfortunately.
By the numbers Florida has the best tandem goalie team?
Larkin is the redwings leading scorer with 31.
I would love if the nucks went on a run, but I just don’t see it this year. Sad to say after a great first half of the season, but the way they’ve been playing since the all star break, I can’t see them making it past the first round no matter who they play. Who knows though? Tocc has rallied them into a great system and consistent play before. Maybe he can get them back on track….
All this to say, if it’s not a miracle Canucks team, I really hope Edmonton finally does it. I definitely think they could if the goaltending can just be average or better
"I can’t see them making it past the first round no matter who they play"
So you're saying their current play level is the worst in their division? Do you think the Sharks have been playing better than them since the all-star break?
Vancouver needs to get Demko back at 100%, Lindholm back as the player they thought they were getting, and Petey to find his early season form.
Then, and only then, will they have the slightest chance.
Canucks just turned it on again.
Watch out!
I am an oilers fan. But I would like the cup to come to Canada again. If Vancouver is in the playoffs I will watch but I think our best bet is the oilers. I don’t think Winnipeg has enough besides Hellebyk and not sure Toronto has it either.
Let’s go panthers!
Not really a Flyers fan, but their drop in performance on the back end is likely due to players being required to be elsewhere for the time being. Carter Hart being one of them.
Also would like to add that if Vegas would stop cheating, they probably WOULD be out in round 1. I think there needs to be some serious rule changes regarding rosters, salary cap, and LTIR going into the playoffs.
