- Lots to be DISCUSSED on this episode of the BarDown Podcast. Luca, Corwin, Jesse and Poc take us through the four teams they would and would not want to face in the playoffs, and look at who could end of winning the President's and Art Ross trophy.
- Sport
Corwin being the defender of the canucks is the character development I was not ready for
all those highlights he has to watch have turned him into their defender lol
Cant wait for this@@jewelswinnfield7162
wouldnt wanna play the rangers
"We'll discuss, let's discuss." new tagline for the podcast boys😂
Nice job to whoever handled the audio for this episode. Best quality of all the pods so far.
The Canucks will win against either wild card team. Especially if lindholm is back and figures out his injury issues. They can have a centre core of petey, miller, lindholm and they got a vezina calibre goalie.
Well said brother Lindholm scored first for us and we ultimately came out on top of course due to my baby, my hero, my love, my universe, my everything. The holder of the key to my heart with his ferocious plays, striking fear and breaking hearts to other teams (especially St. Louis) DAKOTA JOSHUUAAAAA
Damn, this aged well with Avs now being 3-5-2 in the last 10 games with only 1 game to go, and Jets being on W6 streak 😂
I mean look at how the avs played right before the playoffs in 2022 everyone seems to forget but the avs played the same way and flipped the switch and had one of the best playoffs ever
jets will crack, and helleybuck will suffer spinal injury from carrying this whole team on his back
Luca has been hating on the Canucks all season long (and given that his Avs swept them, I can't say I blame him). Gotta respect the consistency, at least.
florida should be #1 bc you know they're gonna injure at least one of your players
Not only injure, but get offsetting penalties the whole time.
Plsss name who they injuried, it’s not their fault matthews calls in sick to work against panthers
@@HastingLiver Weird thing to say when a) they didn't say anything about the Leafs, and b) Sam Bennett literally took Matthew Knies out of game 2 and he missed the rest of the series
Also Samsonov got hurt by proximity lol
@@HastingLiver google 'Sam Bennett Matthew Knies', that's the only one I know off-hand as a leafs homer
I think with the caps it’s just impressive they’re even in the position they are.
They lost both of their top 2 centers, the goalie they paid big is doing terrible, Ovi started the year with the worst slump of his career, sold at the deadline and are mostly rocking mostly a bunch of ahl vets and prospects at this point.
They are analytically terrible almost across the board and somehow they’re still on pace to make the playoffs.
This year has been the embodiment of the “Experience Capitals Hockey” meme and I love it
Yall are SLEEPING on NYR. They were the first team to qualify for a playoff spot, have been at the top of the league all season while dealing with injuries to key players, are on pace to set a franchise record for wins and points, individual players are setting records, their young players are stepping up, and in the course of the last 2 ish months they have only lost 5 games. They are looking so solid and yall need to give them more credit
Let em sleep, we like it like that
Everybody sleeping on them. They’ll win the cup and we still won’t stop hearing about how they’re “frauds” and it’s somehow a “fluke”.
@@gradycalder9429same feeling in the west as a Canucks fan. The fact that people keep doubting yall is insane
rangers fans think kakko and laf are top 6 forwards so they have no idea what good means.
@@obscurereference6298 I’m what world is lafreniere not a top six forward? He is on pace like 55 points and has more points five on five than guys like tkachuk, Kempe, and Suzuki
On the Hart conversation why don’t goaltenders or defensemen get more love?
I feel like hellebuyck deserves some recognition beyond a Venza for what he’s done for Winnipeg. They’ve been struggling to get offense with and without Kyle Connor.
Even what Q Hughes had done for Vancouver should get more than a Norris nod.
Is it because Goaltenders don’t play 70+ games a season anymore?
Saying that Nashville has nothing but forsberg and nyquist is INSANE.
Literally
Luca said that to convice himself as an avs fan that it would be easy facing them
I haven't listened to the podcast, but if they said that, they are crazy, Ryan O'Reilly has a great season and is pretty good in the playoffs. Also they have ofc Josi and Saros, who both are all-stars. Zucker and Barrie will also be dangerous in the playoffs.
They dont even mention josi 😂
@@nietzschescodesIs Saros all star?
Love all the discussions in this
I think it’s kind of ridiculous that most everyone is doubting the Predators. Teams like them go on deep runs, even runs to the playoffs. With nothing to lose and everything to gain is crucial for a Stanley Cup run. Will the Preds win the Cup? Probably not. But teams like them tend to go to the Finals.
Teams like Nashville do not tend to go to the finals lol they’re on a hot run but don’t have enough talent
look at the blues the montreal canadiens the panthers last year yes they had more talent but they went hot at the right time and it’s the perfect ingredients for a cinderella run
@@zensnowwall of those teams had wayyyyy more talent. Playing hard is great but they will be outclassed in a 7 game series vs any of these top teams in the west.
Did you not listen to the podcast cause these guys were shockingly high on the Preds
39:41 .Since the 1980 season there has only been 4 Vezina winners to go on in win the Stanley Cup. making it 9% winning chance with the Vezina winning goaltender in the net. (the goalies were Martin Brodeur, Tim Thomas, Grant Fuhr, and Billy Smith.)
how could u possibly be bored with the caps right now? they’re essentially 3 penguins in a trench coat that snuck their way into the playoffs
How has this comment not garnered more likes in two weeks? Gold!
Carolina has not been losing in the playoffs because of goaltending. It was always scoring. Our goaltending has been fine in the playoffs. Scoring and special teams have been the big issues in the past.
Dope video, should chapter some of these type of videos
I hope Colorado plays Vegas in the first round. Lucas tears are gonna be delicious after that disrespect
I hope so as well. The golden tears of the knights are gonna be pretty damn sweet
Corbin: hears red wings. Cut convo immediately lol
As a Caps fan I can understand wanting to play us in the first round (I don’t think we’re going to make a ton of noise in the playoffs), but I am very happy to see them in this position. They went into the year with Kuznetsov and Backstrom and neither of them are there anymore, the team is getting it done with their young players, plus a resurgence from Ovechkin. I think this year is an example of sometimes it being good to make the playoffs even if you aren’t going to contend for a cup. The young players getting playoff reps at NHL level would be huge.
i agree. also really want to see ovi in the playoffs at least once more
VGK getting hot boys, can not wait for the playoffs.
By ‘cheating’ during playoff..activating all high playing players they had off during trading series!
@@t1nzl744 "cheating" dont you ever get tired saying the same thing over and over again? i don't think its consider something "cheating" when every team can do it 🤷♀
we'll discuss
You're discussing
Everyone’s been doubting the Canucks all year.
As a canucks fan, I am doubting the canucks
unsurprising that the two guys who are fans of teams in the west underestimate canucks
hey nice pod as always!
would love if you upload the deadline day stream to rewatch❤
Red Wings/Capitals have been playing playoff hockey for the last month, wouldn't want to face either in round 1...
red wings look like hot garbage rn
If we are talking about the Hart we have to include Panarin in that conversation, leads the Rangers with 44 goals (9 ahead of 2nd on the team), has 107 points (32 more than 2nd on the team) he has improved a lot defensively and he is always keeping the Rangers in every single game
He’s been amazing but he’s just not on the same level as kuch, Nate, and Mcjesus
@@mcamp8592I agree and I think a big factor is because he doesn’t have another elite player on his line to set him up like the top players in hart contention. Eg: mackinnon - rantanen/makar, mcdavid - drai, kuch - stamkos etc
Some of y'all be sleeping on the preds cause they don't have the 'star' power of a Mckinnon or Mcdavid or Petriangelo. I'm not saying we make it far or anything but to put into perspective: We may not have the shining star or face of an nhl team etc. But we have spread out our play and run as a team without relying too heavily on any one player. Juice or Lankinen in net are both proven even if Juice's points are down slightly he's still above .9 ever since the all star break. Josi is so on his game right now he has to be back in talks around getting some votes for Norris. Forsberg has been literally on fire and undressing some of the best players along WITH josi. Nyquist has been assisting AND scoring to even keep pace with them and ROR has been essential for battling for the puck. That's just the top dogs. Evangelista is looking like a younger fil with his skate speed and puck handling, Mcdonagh has been about as essential on defense as josi and juice.
Zucker is a late addition but has ALREADY proven to work well and start bringing in goals and assists on his line. Lauzon has an astronomical amount of hits nearly all of which have been massive at continuing offense and removing opposition from the puck. All of this under new management and a new coach. All while WELL under the cap space and WELL predicted to not even make the playoffs earlier in the season. Hockey can go any which way but if you aren't nervous you aren't paying attention just cause we don't have the same names as another team might. Heck if we don't have it in us to win this year i'm excited for the next 3 years too with Azkarov and our AHL team AND all our picks and cap space we have a lot to get even more dangerous.
YOU PUT IT SO WELL! Nashville had a lot of really great players who don’t get enough appreciation. Willy and Mace were talking last night on the broadcast that this year’s Preds team is on track to being the highest scoring team (or might actually be after last night) in franchise history. They’ve had ups and downs like any team, but right now they’re giving their all, and they’re such a fun team to watch!
Saying the leafs should feel better because they've gotten regular season swept by boston is WILD. Playing a team a bunch of times and losing all of them means you'll probably win one at some point but a playoff series isn't one game
As a Canucks fan i have to agree with everyone's takes on them. The team feels a bit fragile, but I think if they can overcome round 1 its open season. For the record the team I'm most worried about facing if I'm the Canucks is LA, we just cant seem to figure out the 1-3-1 they play with, and with how mentally draining playing a team like that is I think they get the better of this inexperienced Canucks team.
i mean we have 2 more games against them so lets hope we can prove that we can go up against the 1-3-1 if we lose both of them then lets hope they go out early
sorry i meant 1 more game
Nah, saying that he would take Nashville ahead of us with so much confidence is bs. I'm personally only worried about LA and Vegas jn the first round.
@@ssiipp7848I’m personally worried about every team. Yet at the same time I think more teams should be worried about us. This is gonna be a stressful playoffs 😂😂
Turn yourself in knots and convince yourself the champs aren’t a team to worry about in the playoffs. Just wait till they run it back
Jesse is definitely built different, tarps off fight on sight. Thomas again great contributor please keep him on the pod. Don't agree with Luca's takes very often but 100% agree with both his takes Vegas being better to face them in rd.1 when they still building chemistry rather than more polished and dialed in for rd.2 etc and that Canucks being a better 1st rd match up as they don't have that playoff hardening experience just yet. Hoping for Tor vs. Bos that'll be an awesome series. Ya'll sleeping on NYR too they just shutdown MacKinnon and the might Avs offence on the road in another clinical performance.
I believe there's too many question marks with VGK.. its legit to ask is Hertl even playing? Is Stone even playing.. the guy has a lacerated spleen.. all too often we see guys traded at deadline and not pickup a new system quickly enough.. it takes times to adjust.. I believe Ray Ferraro said it best.. heck even line rushes are different when he was traded to a new team..
luca’s scrunchie slays
when is corwin buying that Tyler Myers jersey
They didn’t even talk about Reinhart
Luca giving the canes some love is very unexpected
Its crazy that these guys don’t really factor in the Canucks that will likely finish #1 or #2 over all in the west. Demko will be back and most likely stand on his head for the Canucks 😊
Dallas couldn’t beat Vegas during the regular season when Vegas was missing a bunch of key players.
Vancouver disrespect from east media is insane.
Plot twist: Jets finish within 4 points of first place but as a wildcard team
As a Canucks fan, agree with the argument from Luca that of the division champs the Canucks are the team to play but who WANTS to play a division champ?
Golden Knights Back 2 Back Champs ⚔️🏆🏆
Two weeks later you will never guess who's spleen is feeling juuust fine in time for playoffs.
Boston is one center injury away from being swept. Not having center depth is scetchy
here's why washington has a better shot to make it to game 5 over detroit: lindgren. lyon and reimer haven't made a save all szn.
lyon has had some cold stretches, but he’s been the reason we even are in this position. reimer can also steal some games
Everyone slept on the Canucks in the pre-season, calling them a slim chance wildcard at best. Then they had a very consistent overall season(One where they never lost more than 6 games total in a 20 game stretch...look it up) and have placed themselves into a division win. Their center core 4 is right there with anyone(Miller, Petey, Lindholm, Blueger our Suter.) Quinn Hughes is doing things nobody has ever seen, and they have a talented top 6 forward core with some elite talent and speed with some skilled grit mixed in there and and a few 20 goal scorers in their BOTTOM 6(a rotation of Hoglander, Joshua, and Garland have been mostly bottom 6 regulars with some top 6 shifts). The D core has been very consistent all year long and they can put out on pair of Dmen in the rough and rugged playoffs that are over 13 feet tall combined(without skates...and one is particularily mean) On top of that you have a clear top 5, arguably top 3 goalie in the league with Demko("Bubble Demko" anyone?) and all of this is lead by an ENTIRE coaching staff of accomplished former NHL allstars and Hall of famers.
Whether they win it all, or whether they have a first round exit, whoever the Canucks play this postseason will be pushed to their limits and y'all will start putting some respect on their name.
I hope Dallas make those black and green jersey their home jerseys those look awesome
Canucks will beat Nashville if they match up in Rd. 1. Canucks have dominated Nashville this year. You can say it's before they got hot but last year, every single first round match up was won by the team that won the season series (or tied it, but no losses). Team match ups are important and I think the Canucks style and system just matches well against Nashville's.
Hot take maybe but this playoffs doesn’t really have an “easy option” at least in the west. Every team in it rn has either been consistent all year or is getting hot right at the time it matters most. As well every single team has been doubted throughout the entire year for different reasons and have a chip on their shoulder because of it. There is no “weak team” there is just the team you play against. I could see litterally every series possible going to 7 games. Its gonna be a bloodbath
Did you guys stop putting your podcasts on Apple Podcasts?
Love your podcasts and quizzes and vlogs next quiz should be a nhl playoffs
"Regular season doesnt matter" then why isn't tampa up there.
They can score and they have tons of playoff experience which might be enough to win a round... but that defense is just not good enough.
28:17 jump scare warning
Corwins lettuce is coming in nice
Everyone wants to play Van in rd 1...lol
Don't even know how the Rangers aren't in the top 4 for anyone's list. I don't see how the Canes would be scarier, the Rangers are much better 5v5 and are 21-5-1 since the all star break. Most wins out of every team, there is just no reason why anyone wouldn't be scared of them unless they just care too much about the past. Rangers made the ECF a couple years ago without Panarin having as good of a year as he is now, just saying.
wouldn't want - Boston, nyr, Colorado, Florida. would want - wings/caps, leafs, Edmonton, LA
Not mention the Bs is fair they have been like oddly inconsistent and the east is so tight but like it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they went on a run if we are real
As a flyers fan, I get the reasons why you'd brush aside philly, but they dominated the Stars, beat the canucks twice, beat Florida, Carolina, Colorado and Boston. They play up to their opponents and on their day can beat any good team
Bruins fan here, philly looks good most of the time, but they just do not have that game changer or playoff built team/experience. Goaltending could hurt, and you have to beat a team 4 times. Not saying they can’t but it’s much harder than beating a bunch of good teams one time.
Why does the bardown team hate the caps so much sheesh 😂
If you aren’t the leafs, the avs, or the jets, they don’t give a fuck 😂.
Watching this after the tier list they made is funny Imagine not anyone of them having islanders in there they didn’t believe they would make it over capitals but top 4 from a Swedish guy
1 Caps
2 Islanders
3 LA
4 Nashville
I don't remember that st Louis team being that good
Las Vegas Injure Reverse
The one thing with Boston is they feed off of all the negativity and some how always makes them better when everyone counts them out which is part of the reason i think they blew it last year. They were on top and just took it for granted. Getting ready for a slow rebuild this is really the year to do something and prove everyone wrong. Truly their last real chance at something
You sure you’re not talking about Florida here? No one counted the Bruins out last season, except for the fact they won the presidents trophy. Lots of people said they will beat Florida and some even said sweep them. Seems like they will play Tampa, and I’m taking Tampa for that series. Definitely not a Bruins fan but you never want to count them out
@FLGirly no I'm not saying people were counting them out last year I'm saying they were expected to win and that's why they didn't. Florida on the other hand everyone counted out last year and that's the same reason I think the Bs could go far this year
Some thoughts from a Bruins fan. I have very little faith in this team. Unfortunately the team just doesnt have the depth scoring to compete with others. The team relies so heavily on Marchand and Pastrnak for like 80% of their offense. Ullmark has been mediocre at best in the playoffs so far. Swaymans numbers are slightly better but small sample size. I have no clue if they are going to rotate their goalies come playoff time or what. If the Bruins get the goaltending though in that round 1 they will be very very intimidating to play. They seem like a team that as the rounds go on theyd only get better and better.
man keep disregarding the flyers, it’s been all season long
Please use chapters on your videos
What a difference 6 days make
Rags have been above the Carolina Hurricanes this entire season. Yes it’d be a tough series. But nobody has the number 1 team in the league. And consistent top of the metro the whole season in top 4? I know there’s a lot of great teams and I’m for sure just a salty fan but Vancouver and the Rags need more love in this.
I think is the type of playing style they play which is rush and that lowers in the playoffs but they should be respected more.
@@bsfm6990 I get that they have flaws. Inconsistent defense and 5v5 issues but their goaltending and special teams are beyond elite and depth scoring is underrated as hell. Penalty kill and goal tending as well as a solid two way game from your forwards is what’ll get you a cup. The one thing they have from to bottom is defensively smart centers. To not have them even mentioned is crazy.
@@johnhendrickson1806I get that and also think they have some bias I also think you need Mika to produce on 5v5 and if you lock panarin which is not easy but if you do who produces on 5v5 cause if he is locked so is laf and Mika’s line has not look good on 5v5 also it’s the memories of last years first round that has me doubting but still has them as a contender
I couldn’t agree more, no mention to the rangers is crazy
Not to be negative but these are a much easier listen without DZ, also corwins been working out
As a stars fan, I hate to admit it but the way corwin spoke about oettinger at the beginning of the year was correct. I love otter but he seems to be off this year. To be fair to him his defense has let him down in some games but he has not looked great all year. Thankfully we got tanev and in these last couple of games otter has looked much better. However I think that will be the stars downfall is the goaltending.
Spot on... Except, who knows, maybe Otter does raise to the occasion..
@@ridebmx24seven yeah, he looked great last night against the Canucks. Hopefully he turns on the same kind of beats mode he did two years ago against Calgary.
if u get 60 tucks u should get the hart
As a oilers fan I’m scared of Vegas 😂
The Vancouver disrespect is diabolical
Luca has always hated the Canucks hopefully we pound the avalanche 4-0 in the conference finals
Theres just so many great teams right now. Rangers are 5th most scary team lol
"We want Florida"
Right lmao. Leafs fans are delusional. Keep chanting for us. I can’t WAIT.
Would not want to face NSH because of Ryan McDonagh and would not want to face NYR because of Igor.
Lol i love it. Everyone has been sleeping on the Canucks all year . Even when they were in first place for a long stretch of the season. And still sleeping on them now. That's ok . Just don't be shocked when they make a deep run.
There's no point in having both the Art Ross trophy and the Hart trophy if whoever wins the Art Ross automatically wins the Hart. It's gotta be MacKinnon or Kucherov for the Hart regardless of the Art Ross and I'm hoping MacK gets it since all the other guys have already got one.
I feel like giving it him for that reason diminishes the value of the Hart. It is a tight race but I think MacKinnon either needs to pop off more than Kucherov.. or the Avs need to win their division.
Vancouver would easily be more difficult opponent than Nashville. Better goaltending, Nashville got Josi but Vancouver got better player with Hughes. None of Nashville forwards are nowhere near Elias Pettersson or JT Miller. Vancouver also got Hronek, Boeser etc. Way better team.
PG Cougars are gonna win the memorial cup.!
God bless you Corwin

Can’t wait for Jets to fall into the wild card and get smashed by the Canucks. Bring it on Jesse💪🏼
As a jets fan bring it on. I’d love to see that matchup. Not cause the Canucks are bad, just from an entertainment standpoint. (Although the Canucks seem the least scary of our possible matchups lol)
I think the bolts are MASSIVELY slept on this year. They have had an up and down season and spent most of it in a wild card spot so fair enough but people are so quick to forget the absolute beast this team was for 3 years in a row. They are built for the playoffs and have the same core as the cup winning teams. One first round exit (a series which they outplayed the leafs 5/6 games) and they've seemingly disappeared from the contenders conversation. This is a scary team and I would not be surprised to see them come out of the east this year.
If they outplayed the Leafs 5/6 games how did they get a first round exit?
completely unrelated to anything but lucas scrunchie is cute
Alright I found the Ashl team for the bardown boys and just gotta say under the career stats list for the team Jesse had played 47 less games and is only 1 point back of corwin come on Mccallum get your head outta your ass
On another note pignataro quit being a goddamn goon and clean it up ya had 26 pims last season in 14 games
The last 4 winners of the Memorial Cup are from the Q. The last winner from another league was in 2017...Funny how the Q is often looked at the weakest league out of all 3.
49:54 Yeah let’s not give the hart trophy to a guy that is going to be the 4th player in NHL history to have 100 assists and got Zach Hyman 52 goals so far.
This "Sleeper" Nashville team got clapped 8-4 by the poverty yotes. They're in the wild card spot for a reason...
For the first time in 19 games, even the top teams have bad games here and there
But when the leafs played the bruins they had Anderson so would you till wanna play him with Woll
but what if Boston has a Zamboni driver in net???
I so look forward for Winnipeg to make you guys eat crow
canucks are great, but theyre also probably the least playoff proven team amongst the contenders
Priviliged Princess😂😢. Heres the statistic... No one playing with macdavid scored more then 30 before other then Leon. That being said u have to do things right alot to get 50.🎉
Luca puts a team that isn’t even half as talented as Avs ahead of them, I want whatever he is smoking because that has to be good shit. And Vegas above Avs is almost as funny of a joke. Why are you surprised someone has Canucks on their Want to Play? Canucks have been punching above their level all season long, they aren’t going to be able to maintain that in the playoffs. They’ll need to add a lot of talent in the offseason to come close to this next year, and Hughes will never have a season as good as this year again. If you are the Avs, you would rather play Canucks or Vegas. Canucks aren’t as good as their record, and Jets are at their worst just as talented as Vegas, except they have an actual good goalie and have an actual defense. Preds are also a fake threat.
if mark stone is miraculously 100% come game 1, they're killers. Without him, they're still a good team but thats a big hole and I dont think anyone on the roster really fills the gap a 100% mark stone brings
Mark won’t be back for game 1. He wasn’t even started skating. I honestly think that of we go deep into the playoffs we won’t see Stone at all.
Do these guys even watch hockey?
