Thanks so much for taking the time to post a DIY! Thank you for your contribution to the community :)
Is the chargepipe supposed to have both of its ethanol/methanol ports sealed or is only the top hole 🕳 supposed to be closed and the bottom one open 🤔 because i ordered mine maybe 4 months ago and top is closed bottom open on my e90 n54 @vrsf
@@LALOTEH The meth bung plugs ship loose and will rattle outwards if your installer neglects to tighten both bung plugs prior to installation. You can purchase replacement 1/8 NPT plugs on our website or from your local hardware store.
@@VRSF1 I emailed you guys with more details and pics
how come mine isnt fitting i think you guys gave me a broken chargepipe thaf doesnt fit for 150 thats kind of bad quality control if you ask me
@@cartiertints6428 was your chargepipe squeezing the power steering hose(s), after install? If yes, how are you holding up right now?
I love the level of detail you go into in your videos. Especially in your NCS Expert coding ones. While people tell you what you can code with Carly *cough* BMW Fanatic, you actually show how to do it properly. Also you are the only one who shows what can go wrong and the problems you might run into, while everyone else edits it out. Literally the best N54 DIYs on CZcams.
My 2010 335i with 40k, charge pipe broke. Ordered an OEM replacement charge pipe. Checked out over dozen videos to use as a guide, but I couldn't find a decent video. My car is stock, so I'll have to find a video removing the air filter housing. Found your video and found it to the best video for me. I like the fact that you gave instructions for each step, without rushing. When I heard you give the website for the VRSF charge pipe, I was convinced to purchase the VRSF charge pipe. I returned the OEM part and bought the VRSF pipe. Thank you very much.
Jesus, this is probably the most detailed and easy to follow video I’ve ever watched. Definitely subscribed & liked 👍🏻
Your the man bro!! I'm proud owner of a 335i just recently purchased for this guy that obviously didn't know how to take care of it. Doing alot of update to restore to former glory. I really need this channel for sure💯👍🤙😎
I swear every time you upload a video on your car, I will be about to do it and thinking of doing it. Literally got my charge pipe in the mail today so perfect timing 👌
Haha nice, next video will be on installing outlets. After that LCI taillight conversion.
Another excellent video man. I had wondered why you didn't have your charge pipe done with everything else you've done :D
Great video. I will be doing a VRSF charge pipe this summer.
That’s awesome. Very straightforward and detailed as to why things are being done. Thank you sir!!!!!
Very helpful just blew my stock pipe on a back fire and getting ready to install the new one
Great DIY!
Definitely a good upgrade to do along with upgraded diverter valves or BOV 👍🏻
BMW Fanatic unless you’re running 21+ PSI no need to upgrade from stock DV unless you’re looking for a different sound.
Thanks for the video, I will be ordering mine tomorrow
I just subbed brother I also have a 2008 535xi she a beast stock wanna upgrade her to stage 1 but I feel like before I go stage one I wanna do this so I don’t gotta worry bout coming back to redo charge pipe Awsome video and I subbed brother BMW fam for life......
Excellent DIY thanks!
Really good video! Thanks a lot
just made an order using your affiliate link!
edited well and informative nice 👍
Hey dude, thanks for this.
used your video to install my charge pipe thanks
There is no comparison to this guy's tutorials. I'm willing to bet that not even the official bmw tech tutorials don't come close to this guy's videos.
Thank you for this video 😊👋
Are there any drawbacks to removing the factory cowls? I've read about some rust in cylinders 5 and 6 due to rain water not draining away from the motor due to lack of cowling. Any truth in that?
Awesome video. I would remove the section from 7:20 - 8:55 since it was a false start and you realized it should not be installed as one piece - it's confusing. Otherwise Bravo!
Best channel
Can you install the lower CP from the bay, or do you have to go from underneath removing the belly pan
Can I get that for my 2009 bmw 535i xdrive? Please and if you can let me know where to get it thank you! Great video!!
Hey dude! Nice video as alway! Maybe it's a stupid question but why don't use a blow off valve?
nice vedio bro.
Hi, any boost leaks from the wrinkle paint finish? Do the silicone couplers seal nice? Was thinking about using a thin film of RTV?
Great video. Although audio could be improved. Hard to hear. Still thank you for the upload!!
I have the COBB which looks identical....what BOV are best to use with that type of CP?
I have one question i did exactly the same but engine light came on with powerlose warning. What did i do wrong? Any advice the rings i received didnt fit on the rubbers it was to small i think factory falt. So i did tyripped it just for one day tomorrow i gonna buy the rings. Maybe it leaks air because of it what do u think thanks.
Did the pipe come with all those other parts or did you have to buy it as well adding it to the cart
What kind of silicon did you put on the pipe?
Over 10k miles FBO stage 2+ on my N54 and my stock chargepipe is still working just fine but it’s only a matter of time. I kinda wish you got a bov though
I'm thinking of going with aftermarket diverter valves.
How long were you running stage 2+ on that stock charge pipe? 🤔 I'm in the same boat... I just got an upgraded msd81 dme for my n54 (my old one was junk even after boost🐒 mosfets) and It already has a stage 2+ tune on it. And at the moment i have no way to remove it. My car is completely stock with exception of me just putting some index 12's in with some ngk one step colder plugs and eldor coils. Think I'll be ok for a week or 2 till I can get a vrsf charge pipe on it? I just have the stock charge pipe with 121k miles ?
Does the charge pipe have enough clearance with 2 power steering hoses sitting on the fender? If so, how much?
I tried different brand and it was very tight! Also PS reservoir would get in the way of the BOV(Tial style).
Stock charge pipe is narrow at the place where the 2 PS hoses under the pipe. It gives like 1" clearance. Then get bigger after that point.
But the aftermarket charge pipe is much bigger, and it presses on the said 2 PS hoses.
I'm afraid that with engine "rotating" at the axis from accel/decel would press on the PS hoses and the force would be transmitted to throttle body and plastic intake manifold. After million times of rotating and hitting the hoses, intake manifold might break at the worst time.
After initial installation of the charge pipe just sitting there, not only is it touching, it's putting pressure on the pipe/PS hoses already.
Imagine when under heavy load of sudden accel, it can mean something will break.
I have a 2011 335is that has only 42k miles. The factory stock Charge Pipe cracked so I have to replace it.. What U show in the video the best in the market for the money & I notice U removed the stock air filters, what do U recommend that may add some more HP but at the same time not molesting the car like many that cut the car to fit a larger oil cooler…
Love your video lean a lot from you channel. Just wondering have you change your turbo yet? Since my is at 100k miles and turbo is blowing oil... thanks !
Hey thanks, yeah just before buying this car the turbos were changed by the previous owner. They had around 140K on them and he changed them because they were burning oil. So you'll have to look into changing them potentially.
Vehicular DIY really appreciate your quick reply. I am new to n54 I just recently got my 335i 2007 coupe. Just have few more questions. Do you know how reliable are the piston rings and crankshaft bearing? I am planning to buy a new upgraded Vargas OEM turbo but I am not so sure if it worth it.( as I am not sure how far my car can go) It is currently burning 1L oil from the turbo every month. So it would be great to hear your opinion as u are expert on n54. I have watch lot of you video since I got my car.
I know this video was made 6 years ago but what is the pipe the charger pipe connects to?
Can you install a blow off valve on these?
Nice 🔥🔥
Any update on the charge pipe? Did it have any issues?
Is silicone or grease better. I see you use both on your channel
My rubber coupling is a lot shorter, should I just the factory one?
Nice video, do you think it's worth upgrading the diverter valve pipes at the same time, or are the oem diverter pipes good enough?
That would depend on how much boost you plan on running.
thanks
Yo that's a clean diy but for some reason my chargepipe from vrsf doesn't slip on like yours it gets to the park where it lined up but doesn't actually go in its rubbing metal and metal even my buddy cant put it on
I have a BMW K6 35i N71 2008. I still haven't been able to find a charge pipe that fits my car. Does anyone know where I could buy?
Im from Sweden.
Thanks
So I’m looking at this charge pipe, would it be worth it to pay the extra 250 bucks for the hks bov, or would I just be fine using stock dump valves
depends on the boost levels you wanna run. stock diverter valves can easily hold 16 PSI
or 1.1Bar
How do you like the BMS cowl replacement filters and setup? Better than stock? Any cons to that setup? Seems like it makes working on stuff much easier.
Jason Vala just the weight savings and appearance alone makes it worth the $60 or whatever it cost. I did mine a year ago and wish I would’ve done it long ago.
I didn't get a sticker when I bought mine):
My stock replacement pipe from VRSF looks nothing like that for my E89 N54.
I don’t suppose you noticed a bit of oil in your OEM charge pipe, especially round the O ring area? I had a bit of oil in mine when I removed it the other day. I read this is ‘normal blow by’. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks
I noticed a fine film of oil on the stock charge pipe yes. A little blow by is normal for any engine I'd say. That's why they use PCV systems to give that blow by a place to go.
Hey, would this work on the 08 535i? Because when I try to buy this kit from the website, it says the part won't fit. But the cars have the exact same engine.
As them, I don't remember his name (Thiago I think it was ) but they do answer any of your questions.
I'd love to upgrade my N54 with mods, but it keeps breaking and I have to buy parts to fix it lol.
E28 Source BROOO ! You and me both. LMFAOOO.
Upgrade when it breaks instead of just fixing it
See I'm afraid that I will spend all my money on parts and it ends up breaking
Don’t worry it’ll eventually be good
@@typedrew that's what I had to do. Now I'm a brand-new n54, m3 suspension, stage 3 turbos, and full bolt on mods in lol.
What influenced your choice on a VRSF charge pipe vs other brands. VRSF is s quality product no doubt, but I am wondering why it stood out to you in a sea of quality products I guess. Do you have an upgraded FMIC ?
Mainly customer service influenced my decision. I want to ensure that if I recommend a product my viewers will have a good overall experience with the company I'm advocating for. I do have a FMIC yes.
when do you plan on releasing you video for outlets?
Just posted it today actually.
I have dp and intercooler, CP from VRSF .
3 years already with no craftsmanship issues, top quality parts at affordable prices.
good
What kind of grease did you put in the elbow to be able to move it around/install the charge pipe?
I used silicone grease.
What does that sticker say?
Can someone help, I've been running upgraded chargepipe and mhd tune for months now and all of a sudden the cclip won't hold the pipe anymore and keeps popping off during any heavy acceleration
I’m running into the same issue
get a new c clip lol
does anyone else have the problem that the charge pipe can be wiggled around. i put the c clamp and the o ring in properly. it seems like the pipe has play.
Dish washing liquid is a perfect temporary lubricant and is non flammable.
N55 has so much more Room !!!
Show us how to install a charge pipe on an 328i N26 :)
Sell it, get a 335i
Is it required to upgrade chargepipe if I install duel cone intakes?
No it's not required but is always a good idea even on a stock car.
Wow I wish I would of used grease onbthe elbow when I installed mine it took wayyyyyy longer to install than what it really should have.
Yeah it really helped.
@@VehicularDIY Definitely - even with a little grease it takes some effort to move it, cant imagine trying without it.
I know that there isn't alot of point in doing outlets on stockers , but if you want to so i can see how its done, that would be great 😂
Haha yeah I wasn't so sure that adding outlets were worth it on stockers but luckily they were provided by VRSF and that video comes out tomorrow :) The combination of the charge pipe and outlets made it so if I hammer the throttle at 40 mph I'm breaking traction now with my pilot super sports. They definitely added some torque.
Vehicular DIY dude im so happy right now! 😆
You want to check the bottom meth bung 'little blanking screw' periodically on that chargepipe , mine has come loose twice in 15k miles.
I have bmw 740 Li F02 N54 is this the same ?
2009
You are running stage 2+ tune. What else have you upgraded? Such as intercooler, bov, downpipes? I'm stage 1+ currently but looking to upgrade soon.
Downpipes, intercooler, inlets and outlets and DCI intakes.
I was wondering how you kept the factory pipe so long
Yeah in retrospect probably not the smartest move.
Vehicular DIY your factory pipe is different from my 2010, better.
I did mhd stage 1 tune. My charge pipe popped and broke day 2..lol..I already had the upgraded charge pipe on order but had to sit the car until it's here. 🤦
Lmao 🤣 tht “one screw” no one has if your hood has ever been opened.
Personally would have taken a reference photo of the intake pipe and not applied grease
im thinking maybe diswashing liquid.
My question is .. is it reliable
So far so good.
Yes VRSF is one of the best ones for n54
Why won’t my charge pipe push in?
I'm sure you have this fixed now, but if you Lube the o-ring and put the c-clamp in after you push the pipe on, it clips right in.
Interesting how everyone installing these aluminum pipes, not even thinking about how good aluminum at absorbing and conducting heat…. In other words you are heating up intake air when using ANY metal in that intake piping after intercooler. So this aluminum pipe will definitely help with with heat soaking:) BMW revised plastic much much less heat conductive charge pipe after 2011 and they easily last 100k or 10 years, so think again before installing aftermarket junk….
PEOPLE WATCH THESE VIDEOS TO SEE HOW YOU REMOVE THINGS AND INSTALL THINGS. SO CUTTING THE VID TO YOU ALREADY REMOVING THE CHARGE PIPE IS RIDICULOUS. NEEDED TO SEE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you say 185k miles !
Marcell Saavedra makes us all hopeful for the future...haha. I just breached 80k on my ‘07. Guess I have another 10-15 years of mods to do 😂
Im at 182k
Aluminium not aluminum
VRSF IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE
You forgot to mention the screws don’t fit for the sensor. You need to tap it yourself or shorter the screws.
thanks
