Currently running a 130i with the N52 engine which I love, your vids have me hell bent on a N54 monster, looking to get 400bhp but reliably as it will be my daily, congrats on making a cool beast
Even though I've been a mechanic for 34 years, it's nice to see how to do a job before starting, I had the pipe but not the Vacuum caps, just ordered them before the install(mods so far VSFR 7.5" intercooler, Big diff Mfactory, Diff brace, No tune yet but soon)
Great vid man! Just bought my first n54 335 xDrive and now that all my typical preventative maintenance is done this is going to be me first âupgradeâ
You are truly a Wisconsinite my friend. the accent and the fact that you grabbed a cold one mid install lol you love to see it đ. From Wisco here as well
Cool video man! Like the new upgrades I've been waiting for these e90 upgrades. Keep them coming!
Thanks Peter! Glad to see some love for the E90 content.
Brotha Jake, as a first time viewer i just gotta say this presentation is DOPE practical and good.
Recently upgraded from my 07' 530i to 2010 535i M-Sport. Planning my MODS n upgrades and this is awesome charge pipe topic info.
Great Post & Cheers from a new subscriber!
Agreed cheers to another subscriber đđœ
Subscribed when he grabbed the beer ! Useful info and great content & presentation.
Planning mods on just acquired 2010 535i M-Sport
Iâm super stoked for that light weight battery install đđŒ
Will be one of my next videos!
When he busted out the ipa to finish up the install
I subscribed lol reminded me of myself đ nice vid man really helped im trying o get as much knowledge on a n54 before getting one
Nice step to the bigger numbers. I'm excited Jake!
Heck yes!
Amazing video. I'm going with an eBay one so it helps me see what to look for in a charge pipe and BOV. Thanks for such a clear and in-depth video.
Very nice job I have N54 and just start having this problem last week reduce power engine malfunction lol that video help me a lot bro love that blow out valve lol sound good
Jake, great video! Excellent step by step and called out all the things to watch out and be aware. Also Iâm replacing my BMS charge pipe; bought one with those silly recirc valves. Meh.
Happy to help! Good luck replacing yours, you should be fine even if you keep the stock diverter valves!
Just the video I was looking for. Thanks!
This video was way more informative than the one on Burger website. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent and really feeling that Asian fusion soundtrack.
Great Info and sounds awesome đ„đ
Nice ,Clean ! No need to change !!!
Literally changed my charge pipe within 2 weeks of having my car(same time I threw the tune on) they are so prone to cracking, even stock!
Already have this set up & love it waiting for bigger mods I literally have pretty full FBO lol only thing left is turbos and and fuel system and Iâll most likely go full send Doc race on auto & see what happens with good ole tranny I also have XHP stage 3 and freaking love it JB4 on Map 5 with 5 Gal of E & car has no issues canât wait for more mods that I donât have
Nice! Sounds like a nice build you got going. You'll love it even more when you go full send mode!
bro i couldnât figure out what was making my car run like ass but you just figured it out for me
Nice informative video man! Had my n54 e92 335i for about 5 months but had quite a few problems with it(god damn limp modeđ) currently still under the 6 month warranty so once that is over and all the problems are solved Iâll start the mods and will defo use this channel for guidance!
Awesome! Definitely a good idea to wait out that warranty. Thanks for watching!
Jake Spence yeah donât wanna disrupt any chance of getting as much fixed as I can! Been hella unlucky tho, had new injectors, cool packs and spark plugs. Vanos solenoid changed twice, high pressure fuel pump, an 02 sensor and a tensioner, and some vacuum lines as I had a major and 2 minor leaks. And itâs still going into limp mode after driving for about 30 mins... I donât know if itâs overheating but that seems like the logical thing, I can drive it hard and do first gear pulls or drive it normally and after roughly 30 mins it will go into limp mode when driving normal at like 40mph..
Jake Spence you earned a new sub btw! Hope you keep up the n54 content!
Edit: and respect for replying to basically all of the comments!
@@user-qv2xc1os7i water pump ya goof
Have my N55 135i 2 weeks, went to the ring and broke the charge pipe at the ring (not on track). Needed to drive 300km at a cruise 100kmh, that was a focking boring ride (100kmh on autobahn). Ordered a FTP one, only avaible in the Netherlands. Stoked to have it on!
Lolllllll thanks Iâm actually looking to replace the purge valve/evap line u found broken... only one solid video up for n52 but looked pretty similar until now! Right on for tossing that in there
Glad to help! A couple people commented saying theirs was broke as well.
Been looking aswell, and he does it by mistake. Lol. Is it hard tl.remove the purge valve? I have a check engine light because of the valve stuck open.
Joe Indelicato have a video dedicated to it up now fairly simple czcams.com/video/GV4NsUlQ5RE/video.html
Just bought the almost complete high quality all aluminum CarLAB Tunning charge pipe + boost pipe cooling kit for my M-Sport F10 n55 at $260. All i need to complete all plastic to metal swap of all pipes is the Lower charge pipe that runs down to the Intercooler. The stock small intercooler will also be replaced with a $215 all aluminum thick larger Intercooler and while im add it ill upgrade the cheap stock boost Diverter to a USA designed, Japanese made DV+ BOV Diverter and get everything out of the way!
This was a good very detailed video thanks đ
Glad you enjoyed it!
Shake, u make the bes asmr videos. Thanks!
LOL!
Ha you're def in the mitten. Been to bells b4. Cheers and thanks.
Great Video Jake. It's funny I have an N54 535xi MHD Stage 1+ with boost hitting 17-18PSI and never had a problem with the stock charge pipe, 165,000 miles. I did just last week finally adapt a 335 N54 charge pipe to the car, works great and less of a worry. I see your stock pipe does have the support bolt still installed on the bracket I feel that is the biggest issue with the stock pipe, without that support it puts stress on the plastic at the throttle body and pulls apart. Better to replace with aluminum in the end though obviously.
Interesting thought! I bet you're right, the support bolt probably doesn't help in terms of flexibility. However, I've noticed that most crack right at the throttle body connection. Who knows how long this stock charge pipe would've lasted, but I'm glad we both upgraded!
What intercooler are you running with? I got a n54 535i slowly modifying it
Very cool friend! Good job!
Thanks for watching!
Man that little drill looks awesome đ also would be interested in watching a video on how to upgrade to the âquarter inchâ vacuum line for the tial
It seems so dumb but it's super useful, I use it all the time lol. I'll post another video when I upgrade the line to 1/4"!
have you upgraded the vacuum line yet. I have a video where i tap a barbed fitting into my manifold and it works fantastic and its cheaper than the vader solutions part.
Wait, so they provide you with 1/8" vacuum line but you're supposed to use 1/4" line? Why in the world don't they just give you 1/4" line to begin with?
Love your content bro very detailed very good quality both in picture and sound keep up the good work brother I didnât hesitate to subscribe!
Good stuff keep it up man
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
@@jake_spence no problem man, I cant wait till I get back from deployment so I can finish building my 335xi... Wisconsin is calling my name
Engine bay does look clean with that air box , those are better since cones soak up heat
I have a vrsf chargepipe with a hks bov and it sounds amazing
Nice!
I ordered the same thing! Canât wait for them to get here so I can install them. Got a 335is and going FBO
Mike Perez hell yeah I also have the hks bov shit sounds sick
Hey Jake! I just completed some maintenance on my 2008 335i (arm charge pipe, dinan ignition coils, 2 step colder spark plugs, dci, oil catch can, changed my lpfp sensor and cleaned the throttle body). Are there any adaptation resets that are required/useful that I should do as well?
thanks brotha
Dude thanks so much for all the vids have helped me so much on my 335i!
Quick question just wondering any recommendations on what oil you use? I live in SoFlo and its really hot down here.
Full synthetic 5w-50 should be good
Do you have to code in the intakes and the bov?
Muy bien
Gracias por compartir
Dios los bendiga hermanos
BMS + Tial BOV = happiness
Agreed, doesn't get much better.
Bring back the basic install vids on the n54 platform! Letâs do a fully trans installation!!
What do stock diverter valves do for the sound. Right now I'm running mhd on my stock 335 and really like the rumble/burble that comes from my exhaust. Will bypassing the stock diverter with a blow of valve change this ?
Thank you for your video instructions.
May I ask some questions concerning the Blow Off valve installation, please?
I had a shop installed the after market Blow Off Valve with other performance parts.
Ever since my radio hasn't been working I could hear the Blow Off Valve releasing pressurized air in to atmosphere as vehicle is accelerating.
I noticed that the Blow Off Valve is in closed position, but it is in opened at idle đ° !
Is this normal operation, will vehicle be losing pressurized air?
đ€ Isn't Blow Off Valve supposed to be at closed position until you are under boosted condition & you let off the gas?
Thank you
My kit didn't come with the caps for the other lines. Are they 1/2 inch? Or 3/4 inch? Not sure what to buy. I don't want to have to take it apart to measure then put it back to gether theold way to go buy them. LOL. Then do it all over again when I get back. Great video as always!
what exactly the BOV do? I mean if it does not add any performance as you said.
thanks and keep it up!
What are the fuel and oil temp gauges reconfigured to represent?
That's my next mod c: I just got a 135im I did the cold air intake next is the charge pipe and bov and catless exhaust
Nice, those are great first mods!
Jake Spence yes :) I need to have them if I want to run the mhd tune on my car haha
Good luck on the downpipes lol
Keep the Dinan intake. It looks great and it's a part from them when Steve Dinan was still involved with the company. It must be more than cosmetic.
True, it actually pulls in colder air from that lower duct with a filter on it. It's a nice piece!
Did you ever add the 1/4 vacuum line instead? Love the videos keep it up
I wold like to know that too.
When buying my new charge pipe I have an option for BOV or original DV connection. Is one better in terms of performance is it just the sound it's effecting. I really don't like the sound of BOV so didn't want to use it if possible.
Do you recommend BOV on 2011 335is model? I'm worry the overboost function may not be working properly with the BOV installed. Please be advise. Thanks!
Iâm running JB4, e30, Catless DPâs, MHD stage 2+ and 18lbs on my stock CP. I knew I was pushing my luck so I ordered this combo. (Kicker) itâs on back order 1-2 weeks.. wish me luck.
Haha I'm surprised it lasted that long! I think ARM has some charge pipes in stock and they're currently running 10% off everything: www.armmotorsports.com/collections/n54-335i?sca_ref=348679.PzBi8ssEpW&sca_source=youtube
Jake Spence Iâm just gonna wait it out since they already have my money. Thanks though!.. I have a question for you though. Those vacuum adapters for the tial bov I guess arenât being shipped right now. Will I be alright running the smaller vacuum line straight to the larger?
*BOOG* probably not
Iâm having problems with a pinched O-Ring in between the Tail Bov and charge pipe.. Just ordered a new O-Ring⊠Itâs a pain in the butt and keeps moving while I install. Should I pre glue into place before install? Thanks for any info
Should I install the charge pipe and BOV before the intake or does it not rlly matter ?
Hi, just looking at this over here in UK. So why didn't they supply the correct size vacuum pipe?
What is your opinion of VRSF? I just made an order for a bunch of VRSF stuff and will be doing the charge pipe and tial BOV next week when it arrives.
VRSF is good as well, but slightly more expensive. I've installed both and they are similar.
Much difference on charge pipe install 335 to 535I ?
Same n54 engine. Mods install should roll the same? 2010
I just got mine and came with same blow off valve but thereâs no vacuum line connected to that is it bad for the car and how do I know which line to plug in
Where can you get that upgraded quarter vacuum line that you were talking about? i cant find it bro
Beast
I can't wait to start modding my car! Thinking of starting on the charge pipe and also what's your thoughts on MHD?
Nice! Charge pipe is a great first mod so you don't have issues later. MHD is good, but I've always been a JB4 guy.
Do you know if there's a mod to replace the plastic plumbing with rubber?
Shit the more I think about it.. while Iâm doing this install I may as well clean tb, and swap a new tmap at the same time! Thanks for the video!
What's going on with your fuel gauge acting like a boost gauge? Great video, nice sound I'm thinking of these for my 1M. Do you also recommend upgrading the pcv valve for a metal one as well!
I just got my first bmw the other day and when i was at the dealership and going over the car they said that there was a 500$ part the needs replaced (that it was faulty but the car still ran/worked but wasn't able to make full boost!) but he didn't know exactly what it was!..so they gave me credit towards the down payment cause they said it was "cheap" and "easy" but the most info I've got from them is that the bov down pipe needs replaced but it don't make sense! And sense I'm not made of money I don't want to buy a little better bov or possibly even buy a new charge pipe tube/bov kit online!..but if I get a kit which one would be good and and advice to what it could possibly be
My charge pipe didn't brought the new screw to place the map sensor,I would like to know the size of it, and the rubber cap for the intlet toođ„Č
I need help I bought a chargepipe from eBay, that has a bov but it also has the two holes for the diverter valves
HOW DID YOU GET THE TIRES TO STICK OUT PAST THE FENDERS ON YOUR BLACK CAR IN THE BACK GROUND ?
The sound you described is from lack of bov
How has it held up any pressure leaks
Hi, what is that called the one that you replaced and reconnected to the throttle body?
Do you need a tune once installed?
what exhaust setup is the car running in this video?
No need to return? Trying do mine, car is completely stock otherwise and didnât know if going from DV to BOV needs a tune
Nice video, if you dont mind a suggestion, a camera with a better zoom speed would be fantastic. Some stuff you showed were blurry!
For sure! The camera I have is definitely outdated. Hard to justify a new camera when I have one that works, but I agree, I could use one with better focusing abilities. Mod money or camera money?!
@@jake_spence defenitly mod money, thank you for your amazing channel!
Hey Jake. I see that you're from the Fox Valley area. I'm located down in Milwaukee. Just curious as to what shop works on your cars? Or did you do all the work yourself? Love your content! Would love to meet up with you one day!
Hey man! I try to do some of the work myself, sometimes with the help of friends. Otherwise Rosenbauer's Garage in Kiel has done a great job on my bigger projects.
@@jake_spence that's awesome! Did that shop do your single turbo swap? Just curious as I'm thinking of going single in the future as well! But unfortunately my car is an auto. Wish I had a 6 speed. Haha.
No, they didn't. I found out about them recently. They're doing a single turbo swap right now over there, and I would trust them to do the job.
What is going on with your instrument cluster?!? That shit is wild! I'd love to see a video on how to fix that.
Burgers website states this fits the 535, it does NOT. ECS tuning has it listed right, only for th 135 and 335 but as I found out the gard way, it does not sit down in the engine bay correctly to fit without bending it causing leaks, etc. This is a great pipe I/m sure, for the 135 and 335 though. Anyone need a new pipe with a TIAL flange, brand new, $50.
Hello Jake, ive been watching your videos I just bought a 2012 335IS with 60K miles bone stock. What wpuld you recommend me to do first on a bike stock car thank your videos
maintenance
Should the BOV sit closed at idle đ
You need to run a larger line. The factory one is no sufficient. Get the Vader Solutions adapter.
Yeah, I know. Just because I love BMS, I will probably get their adapter: burgertuning.com/products/bms-n54-bov-vacuum-adapter
What year and model is the car you did the install on?
What psi spring does the Tial come with? Is it specific for the 335i? When you up the boost, will you need to change the BOV spring?
3 years later but did you ever find the answer to this Iâm looking to get tuned soon
What size hose is on the blow off valve?
Any chance you know how far hp wise on a 2010 535i xdrive automatic. When I bout my car there wasn't a 6mt with in reasonable price. I got mine for cheap due to just a couple grand which there's more in parts that 2k. But I rebuilt the motor but it has an automatic with xdrive. Can I safely used mhd stage 1.0 ? I eventually want to go full 6mt. But gotta wait for the wife's model s so she drives it I drive an 04 530i with 100k miles. But I have been getting the idea of doing the ess supercharger kit for my 04 530i. I got it with full history for 4500 2 years ago with 88k miles.
I got very lucky. But it's so much slow than the 535i .
When you cap off the old diverter valve spots then can you remove the ugly canisters in front of the coolant overflow tank?
No, those are still hooked up to the boost solenoids.
Will this work on a 740li 2014?
You are amazing buddy!
Just bought my 335i , I have an Alert message when I give full power " your engine cannot give full power".
My BMW is a 2008 model with only 52.000kms. N54.
(Previous owner just had the two air pipes feeding the turbos changed by BMW)
Any idea to help me???
Hail from France Mr Jake!
There could be a few different things wrong. You could have a boost leak somewhere in the vacuum lines or from your stock charge pipe. The stock vacuum lines are not very good, but theyre easy and cheap to change to high temp silicone ones. The other thing it could be is your turbos are blown, but if itâs only 52,000 kms, thatâs not very likely. I have a 2008 535xi and I had the âReduced Engine Powerâ light coming on. For me, it was the turbos
Does it work on stock turbos??
How would you recommend increasing the boost on my 335? I have equivalent pure stage 2 turbos with all supporting mods, just no meth. Due to the inaccessibility of e85, I've hit a roadblock in terms of fueling. I'm running Forge Diverter Valves, and my ER charge pipe doesn't have meth bungs. Would meth injection be my only route to higher power?
Port injection is the way to go brotha
Meth injection would give you some headroom for sure, but you'd have to tap in somewhere. Or stock up on some E85, E90 or race gas!
Port Injection! Fuel It Has some good options!
what spring pressure you at?
Curious if you heard any extra tick or difference in sound when you swapped that hose too
It does cause ticking that could be eliminated with a new EVAP sensor.
Dude youâre crazy if you toss the Dinah intake!
Bro I don't even own a n54 and you make me want one because your contents so good. I really wanna get a 335i. I wanna look Nationwide for one. What do you guys recommend to make sure I'm not getting fucked because I hear it's hard to get a ppi from different states so if that were true is a dealership my only option?
Haha, thanks. I've bought nationwide many times and never had an issue with a PPI. Search for some local BMW-specialized independent shops. Have the owner or dealership bring the car in to the indy shop to get a PPI. Obviously call the PPI first and ask if they do PPI's and schedule it when everyone is available. I just paid over the phone.
@@jake_spence Thanks man my search will start soon once I can afford the parts and preventative maintenance stuff I wanna do to it.
How much would you want for the dinan intakes? I have blue dual cone intakes with carbon fiber tubing if youâd want to work a trade or something
The Dinan intake is super expensive, retails at $1400. I'd want at least $600 for it if I were to sell it.
Another good trick is to put teflon tape on those port injection plugs
what intake is that??
So I just installed my ARM charge pipe and Tial BOV. Am I suppose to put that brown o ring under the BOV cause I couldn't get it to sit flush and put it on with out and it sits flush.
Iâm wondering the same question. I was able to use it but not quite sure you need it.
This fix on E60 ?
