      I believe the HKS BOV Is definitely a great choice. In addition you don't have to mess around with the inner spring the Tial bov has. There is a lot more to the spring set up. Yet the Hks and Tial bovs are 2 completely different systems though. Either way, great choice. You're gonna love it 👍

      @@DavidFlores-yn7wp If your question is, that If the Vacuum line fits over the existing nipple that is already tapped in the intake manifold, then Yes, it fits right in. Make sure to be gentle, when pulling out the stock vacuum line out. I didn't have any issues, but I have hear that few people have broke that nipple. So if you see that is a little to hard to pull out the OEM vacuum line. Then make sure to heat it up by the nipple, that way you can make the rubber a little more elastic or stretchy. Easiest way to do this is to do it is when your car is warmed up. Hope that helps 👍

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 3 lety

      Did you made sure you created boost? Meaning high revs? When standing still you need to accelerate to high rpms (over 3500rpms) also when your driving on an automatic and you constantly keep accelerating its not going to sound when shifting. It will only sound when accelerating a little hard and letting off the pedal. It is only when highly tuned that you will hear the bov when shifting. Try putting the car on sport mode, accelerate hard and let off the pedal (the bov should sound then). The point where a mistake can easily be made is on the installation of the C-clip, so make sure the c-clip is sitting correctly on the grove of the flange.
      Also don't forget your o ring gasket.
      To have an idea on how the c-clip is installed correctly; install the clip with the bov but not the o ring gasket. This way you can have an idea how the ring suppose to sit. Then uninstall and reinstall with the o ring on. Have someone help you out by pressing on the bov (to compress the gasket a little) while you install the c-clip.
      Hope that helps man. Let me know how it goes.

    Sounds nice... I just installed the HKS BOV and Vrsf Charge Pipe on my 08 535i I noticed on cold start up and after letting the car warmed up for couple minutes when revving the engine the Bov sounds really good and loud. But whenever I drive with heavy acceleration or in manual mode I can hardly hear the Bov it will sound like it’s not even there do know what may cause this?.. Do you think the automatic trans have anything to do with this?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 4 lety +1

      On Automatic transmissions you will not hear the BOV when you shift, because Auto trans shift much faster than manual, therefore the boost do not blow out. But you should definitely hear it once you let of the accelerator. You should hear it a lot more frequently on sports mode since your revs will be higher (which creates boost faster). Is this what you mean?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 2 lety +1

      I ended up using the o ring that was provided with the hks bov. What may be happening is that the c clip is not falling correctly in the grove of the flange.
      This part can get very tricky. Try it out with an extra pair of hands. Where they can push down the bov squeezing the o ring and then you can try to put the c clip on the groove.
      Double check the depth that the c clip falls. Try it out without the bov and see how that looks. Then when you put the c clip in you can compare. Hope that helps 👍

  • @iTzMikester
    @iTzMikester Před 3 lety +1

    Does the ring for the blow off valve sit in a groove in the charge pipe? Or does it just go in and the tightness pressing against the pipe keeps the BOV from coming out? Mine it’s snug and doesn’t wiggle but it doesn’t seem like the ring is sitting in a groove

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, the c clip/ring seats in a groove within the chargepipe's flange. It's roughly about 1/8th of an inch lower than the surface of the flange. Using a good quality snap ring pliers will be a lot easier. I used a walmart cheap one and I had to battle that c ring in for like 5 -10 mins. Look at it real close and check that is the same thickness in all around. Try pushing it in with a screw driver too. It definitely takes some muscle and patience to get it in place right.

      See if you have a vacuum line coming out of your intake manifold. Also, if you removed your diverter valves. The diverter valves also work with vacuum, so you should have a vacuum line there, if you do use that one. As an alternative, find a vacuum line, cut it, and put a T piece (there is one in the HKS packaging) so you can tap into that vacuum line. Hope that helps, bro.

      Yes, I used the stock TMAP. Take in to account that if or once you start pushing the car more aggressively and pushing beyond 20psi, you will need a 3.5 bar TMAP. The OEM N54 TMAP sensor is only able to read boost up to 20psi. A 3.5 bar TMAP sensor is required for boost above 20psi and up to 36psi. (food for thought)

    • @CrazyCarMods

      Yes, the the charge pipe to throttle body o-ring gasket was provided with the charge pipe and I did reuse the c-clip. (Most if not all companies charge extra for that c-clip)
      Your oem c-clip is fine to reuse. But if your charge pipe blew by that section because it couldn't handle the extra boost, then I would suggest for you to change that c-clip.
      When the charge pipe 💣 the diameter of the c- clip may change, which then it will not hold the charge pipe correctly.

      You probably got confused bro.
      The models I mentioned are for installation purposes. As far as parts yeah the 335i and the 535i are different, when it comes to the charge pipe and couple of other parts.
      Good reputable companies have a lot of parts for the 335's and the the 535s have gotten less support.
      When it comes to the charge pipe with the HKS flange for the 535s I believe there are 2 companies out there that make that charge pipe for the HKS bov, but I am not sure how fitment and quality goes; but you can do a little research about that. When it comes to the Tial BOV for the 535s there are more companies supporting that.
      Installation process is the same besides the BOV.
      hope that helps to clear things up bro.
      Good luck in your build.

    So my dad and I just got this hks blowout valve for our 2011 335i, and we’re not sure where the vacuum line location is, could anyone help?

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 2 lety +1

      The 2011 335i comes with the N55. From my understanding, the only 2011 models that have the N54 engine are the 335IS, the 1M, the 135IS and the Z4 35i.
      So with your N55, you will be taking out your diverter valve and replacing it with the Blow off vave and using the same plug in connector your diverter valve has. The N55 doesn't use a vacuum line, the way to set up the blow off valve is completely different from the N54.
      If for any odd reason you do have the N54 and your engine looks like the one on the video, then just look for the existing nipple that is on the intake manifold by the lower right side of the throttle body (your vacuum line will go from there to the Blow off valve) 😉

    Should i get the 6mm 1/4 vaccum line or use the 4mm one they give you everyone is telling me to use the 6mm one the 1/4 inch

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 2 lety

      The HKS bov calls for a 4mm to a 6mm vacuum line. There are many guys running their bovs with a 4mm without any issues.
      Remember that bovs such as a tial bov and the Hks bov work differently and are not the same. Typical push-type blow off valves require spring load settings for each vehicle specification. If the spring load setting is too low, the valve may leak under high boost and the desired boost setting may not be reach. If the spring load setting is too strong, it may not open at low boost. The hks bov was designed to operate under any boost pressure setting, making it easier to work with (My reason for choosing this bov). Also in order for a spring loaded type bov like the tial bov you do have to run a 1/4inch vacuum line 100%, no questions about it, in order for that bov to operate properly. The Tial bov and the hks bov are the top bovs on the maket, recognized for years. And I not taking anything away from that brand. There is also many more good bovs as well.
      But the main thing is that they operate differently. If you want to understand a little bit better checkout how each one operates.
      Hope that helps bro.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 2 lety

      I personally run a 5/32s vacuum line of the existing nipple on the Intake manifold.
      Which is roughly about 4.5mm
      I didn't run the stock 4mm size because in my opinion its the bare minimum between 4mm to 6mm.

    • @CrazyCarMods
      @CrazyCarMods  Před 2 lety +1

      If your blow off flew off, most likely it wasnt on right. Out of the while install this has to be the must challenging.
      Here are some tips:
      - grab a good set of snap ring pliers.
      - install the c clip by itself (no blow off valve) to see how it looks and holds (marking sure its on the groove correctly) also observe the depth and take note.
      - now take the c clip out and have someone help you hold down the blow off valve while pressing it down ( pressing down the o ring gasket with the blow off valve)
      - now insert the c clip and make sure the depth is the same all around. Make sure to hear the click.
      - When putting on the c clip, I installed the back part first on the grove and then the front part which is by where you are grabing the c clip. Help the c clip go down to the grove with a screw driver.
      Hope that helps brother.
      Good luck 👍

      Double check your charge pipe to throttle body o ring gasket. One subscriber was having boost leak for using a non oem gasket. When pressing the charge pipe in to the throttle body you should feel that is going in snug and that the gasket is grabbing the walls of the throttle body. Also make sure to press the charge pipe all the way in (a lot of times it looks like is in but its not) lastly double check on the other connections.

      The c-clip that came in with the BOV is meant to work, so I don't think that's your issue. Installing the BOV can be a little bit of a headache. first make sure that the c clip beveled edge is facing up. Then grab an extra set of hands and have them press down on the BOV compressing the o ring gasket a little. Now with a screw driver on one side press down on the c clip while pressing down on the c clip with the snap ring pliers (compressing the c clip of course). you should hear a click one the ring is fully in.
