I feel bad for Chris. Thor was such a wasted opportunity.
I agree, the fact that marvel wasted his potential just for their politics bandwagon is just sad...
His fault.
He has agents and managers that he is paying. He has played the same character in a million films. He is THE star in this franchise.
Learn to control and shape the trajectory of your career.
Put your foot down and recognize your worth. Look at Cavill and Witcher. The show is destroyed by him simply removing himself after getting disrespected one too many times.
As he should. Thor was turned into a joke.
For me that began in Thor: Ragnarok.
Marvel was turned into a joke.
Thor was turned into a joke in Ragnarok and everyone loved that shit. I hated that movie.
You get what you deserve.
They basically tried to do to Thor, as they did with Hulk, make him a joke. Only Mark Ruffalo accepted it, while Chris thankfully resents the treatment of his character.
He should not accepted it in the first place.
He told a half-truth. The movie did suck, but it wasn't his fault. He didn't write it, direct it or produce it.
To be honest though while I fully am aware it wasn’t his fault. It’s nice though to see someone try to take accountability for the mess that is the MCU cause no one else is. Even if it’s misplaced.
Cause Hollywood acts a lot of the time like they can do no wrong so I hope that makes sense. Respect to Hemsworth for trying to reflect on what went wrong instead of just moving forward.
He did willingly agree to be in it for money and debase himself and the character all for a paycheck.
But he did act in it and just did whatever the director wanted.
Most of the best stuff in Hollywood is made when the actor goes "I'm not doing this, it's stupid" and then they work to improve the scene.
People want to see THOR not Chris Hemsworth.People want to see the HULK not Ruffalo
Wrong. I wanted to see extraction for Chris. He has done some good movies. If he was allowed to play the role it would be like RDJ, Henry, etc.. Nobody wants to see Iron man they want to see RDJ play the role he mastered. Nobody wants to see the witcher or superman. They want to see Henry do it right his way.
I don't blame him, from stripping him and making him fat. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't come back.
Fat Thor was Chris Hemsworth idea though.
@@rayrd3927 source?
@@rayrd3927 ik not immediately changing back for the final fight was something he fought for but i don't remember that.
I agree with the actor
@@rayrd3927where is the receipt?
There is no superhero fatigue, it's bad movie fatigue plain and simple
Movie was just another Marvel piece of trash.
“Mary Sue”
Opinion *DISCARDED!*
Marvel did it. They managed to make a movie equivalent to Batman & Robin...
@@ellugerdelacruz2555 At least DC took the hint and didn't produce any Batman films until Batman Begins. Marvel simply refuses to learn that lesson.
I don't blame him, They turned Thor into a joke,It also doesn't help the fact that Thor got sidelined by Mighty "Thor"
"mighty" "thor"
I found it funny that Deadpool handled Cancer way more serious than a MCU movie...
Don’t forget Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.
@@ChristianFrates1997 oh damn your right....
Anything involving Hollywood, Disney, and Sony is bad these days.
yep 3 of the main pillars of woke and political propaganda within entertainment are those 3 specific companies
And the Zelda movie is being produced by Sony.
Oh no…..
Not spiderman 4 in a year or 2.
Thor's been dumbed down from the mystical figure he was in the comics, someone you respected, not a frat boy stereotype who has to learn and relearn the same lesson about humbleness.
I remember telling my friends circa 2019 that 15 to 20 years from now, we'd all be saying that making Thor a jokey character was a bad move.
Love and Thunder proved that I was too generous.
By the way Sam Raimi just announced he doesn’t want to work with Marvel Studios anymore. Sam has had enough with corporate BS! Don’t blame him! He should go back to indie filmmaking!
He should make skibidi toilet: the movie.
I mean, is it any surprising when the guy had to do a publicly humiliating nude scene and become the literal butt of a joke in a movie series he's supposed to be the star in? Can't imagine why he would have any complaints after that. None whatsoever.
Good on him for calling out the movie for being trash and wanting to move on. If more people in Hollywood were more honest about this stuff there would be far less friction between them and audiences who are meant to watch these movies. At least it's a good sign that more industry people start being more open, since things can only turn for the better if you actually admit there is a problem instead of denying it.
Who wouldn't? Everyone knew it was just Disney/Marvel's attempt at pushing Jane Foster back into the spotlight as Lady Thor. Funny thing is, Jane Foster is the reason the first two Thor movies aren't as good as other Pre-Endgame MCU movies.
She wasn't that interesting as his love interest. Everything or most of their "romance", if you could call it that, was poorly done & non-existent happening off-screen. Heck, the break-up even happened off-screen, so I didn't feel it and I wasn't buying it.
@@indiajohnson Their interaction in the first movie was basically this.
Thor: "I am a god."
Jane: "I don't believe you."
Thor: **proves that he's a god**
Jane: "OMG I love you!"
I've said this before Thor 4 was a movie that I legitimately felt I wasted precious time of my life
Chris: *horsing around between scenes*
Taika: “Keep filming…”
I mean..we all knew it. I guess lots of time has to pass before the stars can admit it.
Chris is definitely correct here.
Thor comics like 118-119 from back in the 60s. That's Thor. How these movie creeps are so happy to shit on classic characters is sickening. It's like they get off on angering people. Erasing the past is always bad.
I wish they would've finally allowed him to grow up and accept his role as King of Asgard, maybe have him marry Lady Sif
Hollyweird doesn't make movies for fans. They make movies for themselves. When the fans hate it they throw a tantrum because the movie is a reflection of themselves. If the movie makes money that's a bonus.
Chris should have known Thor 4 will be shit when Natalie Portman was given Mjolnir and it was bigger than her hand. I know that when kids saw that they will consider that as a joke and not in the funny way! Yeah, kids don't want to see that! And there's Taika too "the over the top funny man" which most audience didn't find that funny! 🤔
I agree Jane Foster as Thor was a terrible storyline.
Despite clearly knowing the movie could have and should have been better, he did what he was asked to do in the movie and he didn’t mail it in. He put real effort into that character. It wasn’t his fault. That was the movie he was asked to do. That was the performance he was asked to put forward.
Yeah, it's almost like he didn't produce, direct, or write the movie or something...
I remember him trashing the movie and the director ages ago. He deserves better!
The Gor the God-Butcher arc is EXTREMELY dark and serious…Taika Watiti was never going to be able to do it justice
I really dont blame him.
I'm so glad I ain't waste money on Thor 4
I haven't wasted much of any money on Disney properties. Aside from the first Star Wars they made.
Nobody wanted fat Thor. Just like Beta Hulk
The trick is, Thor 4 was back when Marvel was in its heyday and people were willing to go see a Marvel movie just because it was a Marvel movie. This was right after endgame the most popular movie ever. If Thor 4 came out today, it would be a very different box office
Actually Marvel's heyday stopped immediately after Endgame which despite some cool moments showed the mess that was to come and only get worse. Imo Infinty War was a much better ending and the legacy would still be intact if it stopped there.
Should've fought to make Thor serious back in Endgame
Chris Hemsworth: (Disgruntled Australian noises)
Look any criticism that you can give to Love and Thunder can also be applied to Ragnarok. It was also a parody at times. The only reason it wasn't as horrible as Love and Thunder was because Taika didn't actually write it. But he came in and ruined the whole thing with his childish level dick and fart jokes. I can't be too sympathetic towards Hemsworth because he was right there with Taika because after Dark World he was "bored" of the character. Love and Thunder was horrendous and I hate that Chris had to be humiliated like that. He does seem like a good dude.
You know maybe, just maybe Chris, making a joke about of the character because you were bored was not the right way to go. For whatever faults it has, and it does have faults, Dark World at least treated the character and story with some seriousness and dignity. It injected humor when it was appropriate and kept things serious when it needed to be. Thor wasn't the butt of every joke. Those first two movies are far better than the clown movies that Taika dropped like a turd.
Agreed, Ragnorak interrupted his heroes journey. Didn't do justice to Ragnorak or Planet Hulk. I also found it strange that he didn't even attempt to reach out to Hela like he did with Loki constantly. However it left him in a good place to build him up, which they did in Infinity War.
But ultimately, Thor 4 just continued what Endgame set up. If he wanted to take Thor seriously he should've fought for that back in Endgame. He was a fat pathetic childish idiot in that movie. What did people honestly expect with the character going forward. They removed Thor's ties to both Earth and Asgard before the 4th movie. It was always going to be crap.
I'm sure that he feels regret over having taken part in making Thor into a walking joke. It sounds like he wants to Make Thor Badass Again, but he probably won't get that chance.
He should've fought to make him serious back in Endgame
Holy Shit...ADHD...why did so many people watch Dune parts 1 and 2? Dune 2 did $700 million worldwide. 2 hrs 45 mins, 10 mins longer than part 1.
Don't forget the Sonic movie and Ghost Busters after life and Oppenheimer. Those movies were successful, and it also proves that the audience definitely doesn't have ADHD.
It do feel like the writers might have ADHD though, they definitely seems to be rushing things when writing for Disney.
The greatest tragedy of the movie? That deleted scene where Zeus showed wisdom and was an Odin like figure for Thor. Cutting it out was a crime against the gods and Eternity itself. Aprire il cuore
I hated Thor's back tattoo tribute to Loki.
The Expendables 24, starring Chris, Chris, Henry, and Chris
Why is the Mary Sue still around?
Probably BlackRock/Vanguard money.
Star vs the forces of evil.
@@Cubeytheawesome Huh?
@@Cubeytheawesome as off topic as your reply is, SvtFoE is a good show because the titular interdimensional princess who first came to Earth had to learn to adapt to their customs, balance royalty and school, and train to use her magic wand while fighting monsters who are trying to steal said wand. Star Butterfly is no Mary Sue, and no other character needs to take the Mary Sue approach since that will make the character too perfect, bland, flavorless, uninteresting, and boring.
I really expected Thor to be on some god of war type shit after endgame. Then for some reason they turned him into a joke. How did we go from savage Thor that chopped off thanos’s head to what ever the f$&k love and thunder is.
I'm sorry but The Lost Boys still holds up and is still awesome and as for Nothing But Trouble, you can thank studio interferrence for how that turned out. It was supposed to have a similar tone as the original Ghostbusters but with stronger horror elements plus it had a different title. The movie that we got wasn't great but was entertaining for what it was. It would be cool if we could see Akyroyd's original cut.
Taikia Waititi turned Thor into a joke it’s not Chris Hemsworth fault at all it’s all Disney & Marvel fault!
Mary Sue should join The AV Club
Honestly kind of tired of actors coming out after the damage has been done and apologizes for it, would love to see one say there was supposed to be another movie, but it was 💩 and they walked away instead ruining what was built up until then.
Good on him I'm sure he's sick of all the bullshit
But at the end of the day, he took the money. So I don’t feel sorry for him as he cries into his solid gold pillow.
Is The Mary Sue just the Velma of pop culture journalism at this point?
You still signed the contract.
Natalie Portman plays a girl boss Thor who yells, "Eat my hammer!"
Whatever residue of respect I still had left for Waititi died in that moment.
Homer: Mmm, hammer.
I already called it Thor 4 : Love and Blunder...
meaning imo the whole movie was nothing but a huge mistake
I called it when they announced Waititi was returning to direct
I love Nothing but Trouble too, if only because it makes me grateful that Ackroyd was reined in during Ghostbusters by Ramis and Reitman.
This isn't even the first time he's thrown shade at this movie.
Best Thor in Cinema was Vincent D'onofrio in Adventures in Babysitting
It's pretty obvious that Taika played himself in Free Guy.
Man that movie was surreal.
He was never properly Thor, not even in the first one. They paid homage to his origins with the Dr. Don Blake name tag on Jane Foster's Ex-boyfriend's shirt that he borrowed and that was it. The Casket of Ancient Winters, Makekith, and Surtur were all wasted in his movies. Those story elements should have been a massive franchise in it's own right. Hell, Surtur alone was as big a threat to the Universe as Thanos, and he's just a throwaway villian in these movies.
Short Version - Thor 4 Love & Thunder was too silly!
Me and my friend decided to watch Thor 4 because we wanted to see if it was as bad as people said
It was worse, the only good thing about the movie was the villain and his struggle and they managed to fuck that up as well at the end
He is just as bad as Ruffulo. Dont be fooled.
Oh sure, NOW he regrets it. 🙄
Howdy Geeky! Hi Kneon.
What, wait, hold on, Lost Boys doesn’t hold up?! That’s like saying Princess Bride doesn’t hold up, campy fun is campy fun. Admittedly, those movies take me back to being 17-18 and working in a movie theater, so, fun times no matter what…
To think, Chris Hemsworth could have remained on "Home and Away" (Australian tv show) for around 30 years (like Alf and the others). Anyway, the first Thor movie wasn't well-written so I've avoided all the Thor movies after the first one. Despite only seeing the first movie, I'm going to assume that the problem is that same problem with every modern western movie and tv show. Crappy writers, who don't primarily focus on making good movies/shows...
Anyway, "Ghostbusters 2016" (which he was in) started the whole (popular) "blame the audience for my failure" mindset so that movie will remain infamous. I can't really think of a movie which pushed that mindset before Ghostbusters 2016, although I could be wrong...
I love "nothing but trouble" but I had forgotten the name... Thank you for reminding me. I lost the dvd in a move.
Thor 2 was actually a good movie.
Not sure why people keep running on it so hard.
This movie showed that Thor was strategic, knew how to work with people, and it set up lore of multiple planets (before the MCU trashed the concept)
He was a serious character that could fight.
Maybe I'm blinded by coming back to the movie after watching the others, but Thor 2 was where his character should have stayed.
13:00 I call this the Victor Borge effect. My Grandfather thought Victor Borge was hilarious, but I was bored out of my mind watching it. I sat through it, though, because I love him. Nowadays when my parents show me something I don't care about, I just let them know "it's a Victor Borge", and they understand. One day when I have kids, they'll tell me something I show them is a Victor Borge too. It's the circle of life through the generations.
Logical. "End game" destroyed the character and "Love and thunder" killed it...
Oof that was harsh, Waititi didn't do the first episode of Mando Season 1, that was Dave Filoni! 😂
Insulting people is not working to spark outrage anymore, so now they're diagnosing the audience...
Thor 4 was definitely in the middle of the complete collapse of MCU movies. They should have ended at Endgame.
Awesome
Perfect time for the “they murdered my boy!” Meme.
Why does everyone think the second Thor movie sucked, I liked the serious tone. He suffered a serious loss, almost lost the woman he loved and thought he lost his brother after having a moment to reconcile. It was a good serious superhero movie that had lighthearted moments to it.
Agreed, it had Thor acting like Thor and some dumb pathetic idiot. I liked Thor: The Dark World. Gets more hate than it deserves.
Agreed.
Yeah, at least Thor still acted Thor and not like some pathetic childish idiot. That movie gets more hate than it deserves.
Thor the Dark World was much better than Iron Man 2 or 3
@2012sonora definitely better than 3, I think I give IM2 a slight edge of TTDW, but it's like an 87 vs an 86. But your point is valid.
It's not ADHD or superhero fatigue, it's bad woke movie fatigue, how many times do we have to say this?
If Marvel wants me back:
1. Rehire the Russo Bros.
2. Recast/Reboot Wolverine.
0:05 he should. They turned his character into a literal walking joke and Thor in the comics is no walking joke. Yes, he has some comedic moments but Thor is literally seen as one of the strongest heroes in the verse in the MCU cuckled him
Don't forget it had Digital Underground featuring back-up dancer Tupac.
“Taika Waititi” fault has a Director & Marvel Studio for giving it a Green light without question if movie would Damage the MCU.
A movie can only reach a billion dollars if it has re-watch ability. People saw Noway Home and Endgame multiple times at the theaters.
My favorite Thor outing was seeing him in Adventures in Babysitting.
That roommate short changed course for everything.
I own ever Dr Who that was released on VHS I love them so much.
Nothing but trouble!
Bwahahahaha
That was sooo rediculous.
It's funny they didn't just go to Oppenheimer some of them did that whole "Barbenheimer" thing so they went to nearly five hours worth of movies in a cinema in a day.
I didn't watch Thor LT, but from watch I've seen, it can't be more obviuos that the movie was written and directed by people who despise not only the source material but the genre itself. So, I don't blame the actor much.
Taika watitti must still be the boss cuz Chris is saying it's his fault when it's all Taika's.
I compare the thor franchise to a diet Burton Batman. First movie was good, second was too dark for the audience, they bring in another director to make it more family friendly and the third movie did great, but they gave the director complete control for the fourth movie and over did it🤷🏾♂️
I like to imagine one day a better writer cames in and rewrite and remakes all these bad marvel movies.
I had a friend who rented out an entire theater room for this movie on release day.
Oh, I remember _Nothing But Trouble_ ! Back in 1992, HBO was starting out in our country and that was one of the cheap, no name movies in its lineup. I also remember the woodchipper scene but also the ending which was rather cartoonish.
They did set up a possible Thor 5 with him and the Power Girl. Lol. Thor 4 wasn't the worst I've seen recently. It just wasn't the best or even good. It was... ok.
I hope he's setting an example for other MCU actors who hate their jobs.
My only problem is that it took so long for him to complain.
I don't have the same view of older movies. When I rewatch them now I just think of how awesome they were and how I wish people still knew how to make films like that. Of course, with most of the films, when I watched them originally they had been out for years or decades before I watched them for the first time. I also take in consideration about them not being perfect but almost nothing is. I like the practical effects, the grain of the film, the story telling and the character development of older movies up until the early 2000's. The practical effects started getting very few and eventually the grain of the film changed but I still liked a lot of the films until about 2010 for the other reasons I said. From then until now there have been some good films, but not as many.
Remember how awesome Thor was in Infinity War? Good times. Too bad they squandered that potential. Audiences were more than ready for a serious Thor.
The blame falls on Taika Watiti for going overboard, Hemsworth wasn't the writer, the entire movie was Taika's vision. People trusted him because Ragnarok was a breath of fresh air and it went to his head
I might try watching that movie again...the first time I ended up just fast-forwarding through the whole thing every time it bored me.
So the NDAs have expired.
Every actor/actress has one or 2 movies they regret doing on their careers. I'd say Chris Hemsworth already reached his quota with "Ghostbusters 2016" and "Thor Love and Thunder". Gotta be careful from now on.
I wish they did a Thor movie with Beta Ray Bill back when Marvel movies were still in their prime.
If we order a brownie, is it is a turd with corn in it... People will be upset.
Is Nothing But Trouble the movie that had a cameo by Digital Underground?? I saw that when I was a kid. Holy crap, it was bad. I’m nostalgic about most of the movies I saw growing up in the 80s and 90s. I’ve never revisited that one.
I agree with the shade the threw. The Thor movies have run the gamut as far as tone, from serious to parody. I think the material works best somewhere in between. I think Ragnarok was closest to the right tone, it had the pathos of Odin’s death, it had the over the top action and it had the comedy. Love & Thunder went wrong cause they saw how well Ragnarok did and they thought “oh they liked the comedic stuff… if we put even more in the next one they will love that movie even more!”. They didn’t realize it wasn’t the comedy but all the elements. Love & Thunder was just a mess to me.
