    Excellent video with a ton of info. I have both the SS and the Streetburner kits. Bought the SS kit, opened, unassembled, and complete, at diecast show for $8.
    I don't have the COPO but been shopping around for one. I want the plain jane grill and bench seat.

      I don't really know but it looks like they had one plan and maybe something fell apart along the way. It takes years to develop the model and bring it to market. I have no inside knowledge, this is just what I think. Also since these are rare cars that are 50 years old some info is lost and many people would not know what is truly correct. Going back and asking the people who built them is getting harder as many have passed on.

  • @charlestresp4959
    @charlestresp4959 Před 2 lety

    You state that the COPO kit is missing the SS hood, but I believe that Chevrolet did not automatically build COPO Novas with SS trim.
    The true beauty of COPO sleeper is the “plain Jane” baseline 6-cylinder look. In my day, all the gear-heads I knew wanted to place the 307 badges on the front fenders of their small and big block performance Chevrolets.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 2 lety

      In 69, Chevrolet did not build any COPO Novas. All 427 Novas started as SS396 models, and the dealer swapped the motor. Chevrolet refused to put the 427 in the Nova. In 68 there was a Copo Nova but those are very few and it was to put a special prepped TH400 behind the 375HP 396. Up until that point you could only get a 4 speed behind that motor. In 69 that combo was available from the factory. Then in 70 you could get a COPO Nova with the LT1 350. By then the 427 was gone.

      Thanks. I have a bunch of the Revell 69 Camaros, built 5 of them and have about 10 unbuilt. I like the kit and thought about doing a video like this on them. it would be longer because of even more differences plus 69 Camaro's have so many options and possibilities.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      Curtis Boxill I don’t think it was a poor sell. I remember when it came out a lot of buyers were grabbing it for the hood, bench seat and the dog dish wheels! I don’t know why it has not been reissued like the others. The others are older but currently available. The COPO was 2015. I think I paid a little over 40 for mine about a year and a half ago and it was a hard find then.

    Thank you very much for this review. I have wanted to build the 71 Nova I inherited from my parents back in high school It's nice that with a few changes I can finally have the car I drove. I have one question. Is there a kit I can rob a straight six motor from and be correct for the 71 Nova? In 1/24 scale?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm not real sure on a correct strait six for that would be. The only one that comes to mind is from the Trumpeter 63 Nova. I think the new AMT 63 Nova wagon full detail kit is going to have a six in it as well.

      deeno329 The only part I ended up using was the rear section between the tail lights. I cut it from the resin rear bumper and panel and used the rear bumper from the COPO kit. Harts Parts Resin sells the 69 Nova conversion kit. It has the rear bumper with ribbed panel and no SS emblem, grill without SS, flat hood and front bench seat. Most of those parts are in the COPO kit.

    Where can you get real 350 valve covers and air cleaner for stock as 350 ?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety +2

      Lots of kits have the plain valve covers but you could probably just remove the chrome and sand off the ribs from the kit issued ones and use them. Most 69 SS350 Nova's I have seen have a single snorkel air cleaner with a chrome lid. The AMT 69 Chevelle SS396 has a very similar one even though it is on a big block. I don't think it is correct for that car. I have seen pics of 69 SS350 cars with a very similar dual snorkel unit like what is in that kit but not sure if it is factory correct.

  • @jonathongriffith279
    @jonathongriffith279 Před 3 lety

    Going off of what Curtis said, they may be incorrect for the SS350 Nova in ‘69, but, the ‘70 Yenko Deuce came equipped with the 370hp LT1, from everything that I’ve read. Kind of a “F-U” to the insurance companies
