That vinyl top look… just amazing.. I played a football game way down south in West Virgin… At Richwood high school… And they had a car show that week and I’ll never forget some of the cars that day… And the ones that I can see plain as day… had vinyl tops.. on them…. Very nice touch.
Great work well done , I got my Kit at my local Hobby Lobby , when they have the weekly 40% off retail price , If you can walk into a nearby store it's even better with no online shipping to pay , Also at times the store will have more in stock then online.
I was looking for a way to simulate vinyl and this is the best technique I've come across yet. I tried it and the genius is in its simplicity. Absolutely friggin brilliant. Just make sure you clean the airbrush tip every 30 seconds or so. Because of the low psi, the paint tends to build up on the tip and creates a bit of uneven spatter. Other than that, excellent discovery Mr. Muscle Car Modeler. Thank you.
Awsome, i had a ss 70 4 speed nova in high school mine had headers and just header mufflers and big block springs with that the front end was sitting up like a gasser, posi track very low gears with tow brackets up front , i think i had a old drag strip car,it was fun car even though i was in love with the butterscotch 71 gtx with 440 badges on the hood and road wheels.that kid drove to.but fun cars i let my dad drive it with me sometimes. Because he had a 4 speed 69 charger rt with a 4 speed. Looks cool i like your build.
I just order a 572 motor off of Esty… and I am going to put it In my 69 Camaro.. I am sure some modifications will be needed. Anyways what a beautiful model.. So smooth looking.
Looks good. For the vinyl top seams, I like using plastruct .010"x.020" styrene strip and sand it down on the inside to create the fold like on the 1:1 vinyl top.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler no problem buddy. I'm building the newer revell '68 Chevelle ss 396 right now and adding a vinyl top. It's cool to see how other builders go about doing detail work, etc. I'm building this one as a replica of my dad's very first car. On this particular one Im using plastruct .010"x.030" styrene strip to make the vinyl top seams/folds and for the vinyl top trim/moldings I'm using plastruct .010"x.020" styrene strip. And I do the vinyl top texture similar to how you described, by holding my spray can way back from the top and misting on many light multiple coats to create the orange peel or texture effect.
Your welcome, you know ,🤔i dont think ive ever seen a yenko car in real life, its cool that your building some, my daughter got me the revelle yenko nova for Christmas few years ago prob build it this winter when i cant fly my rc planes due to cold weather, but very cool keep up the good work, your videos are awsome.👍
That´s a sweet looking Nova. Really liking the texture on the vinyl top. I guess i should get me another Revell Nova (or two) while they´re available here in Sweden...
Absolutely beautiful !, Love this one probably one of my favourites you've shown so far. What paint are you using for the wheel centres ? Looks very convincing.
that car is sweet dou my first ride 69 396 chevy 11 ss dad blew the motor drag racing it put a 427 400 turbo trans in it disc brakes on all fours ma had to drive it back and forth to work that year forgot to check the oil course momma had a lead foot blew that motor put a 454 ls/ 6 motor granpa built 1100 hp i dont think dad liked stripes on his cars and i think vinal tops were only put on novas that had imperfections in the roof so i digress first love is always the one you cant replace love the baldwin motion thanks ralph want that recipe for the vinal top as that was soo cool lub scooter d
Sorry for so many comments… I just ordered bare Metal foil for the first time.. always used a Molotov pen. I am so excited to use bare Metal… Any types for use?
Yes and No. Corvettes were the flagship and got the hotest engines and many could be optioned up for racing. But there were 2 1969 ZL1 427 Corvettes made. That is the all aluminum 427. That was a race motor and was not available in any factory car. But with the COPO program found its way into a few 69 Camaros and 2 maybe 3 69 Corvettes.

Ralph, This is such a nice build. Looks like something I would like to get in and drive. That 427 was a beast.

Mind sharing that vinyl top tutorial? Theones I’ve seen don’t look nearly that good.@@TheMuscleCarModeler
I did one on a 66 Chevelle using a foam paint brush and just dabbing it and it came out alright, but nothing as nice as that.
