    I remember buying the green gtx when it first came out in the early 80s it was the second model I bought the first being the duke's kit in 1980 I was 10 and I was hooked ever since there was a place in west allis wi called hobby town (model empire now) and it was across the street from where it is now all the old mpc kits I had, some I still have all Johan kits I bought, some I still have mostly AMC kits god I miss those days.almost 40 years of model building and I love it 300 kits strong and still buying them.

    I buy the 4X6 and the 3X5 inch plastic mini bags from Walmart or Hib Lob. They have a zip loc closure on top.
    I use them to bag windshields or loose parts (chrome) to protect them in the box.
    I also use them to bag all my "stash" parts with stick on labels (brand and kit#). Along with that I'll make a quick scan of the instructiins.

    One of my favorite cars. So good they built the superbird on the platform. And you have to like a guy who takes good care of his kits. I love buying models from people like that. It's like new 20-30 years later. Nice job on your builds as usual. I like how much of yourself you put into builds and the subject matter as well.

    Revell just re-released the 70 Roadrunner kit from the old Monogram 1/24 kit. It was a pleasant surprise at my LHS as I didn't even see or hear anything regarding this kit. So if you all want one and not pay ridiculous Ebay prices you can get them from Hobby Lobby or your LHS!

    Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy the videos and your creations, I have a stash of kits which I already have boxed up, but when I get the opportunity to unpack stuff, I have that 70 Road Runner kit that I want to create a “tribute” car, in other words, make it look like a Satellite tricked out as a RR, but instead of the hubcaps, I bought some Plymouth wheel covers for the Satellite, and put whitewall tires on it so it’ll be an interesting conversion!!!

    Great post, thanks! I'm building the Roadrunner right now. My main complaint is there is no horn ( I mean, come on, it's a Roadrunner!) Also would have been nice if decals had been included for the hood stripes...

    Awesome video brother! "SUBLIME" is a original 1982 issue, and is current pro/stock class champion over here at GRAVITY FEED RACING. I would love to see somebody build a car to beat it.

      It's becoming expensive (the gtx) the road runner is also becoming expensive.they just re-released the super bee so now they need to do the gtx and road runner they could make it a 2in1 kit put both grills in the kit and just put some chrome GTX emblems if you want to make the GTX you would have to do the interior also I guess.just a thought.lol

    Love these kits. I've got about 10 of the superbird kits. Plans are to build one of each of the 7 original colors. Each one having a few different options. As far as the molded in mystery piece on the right inner fender, believe it or not it's supposed to represent the heater hose strap. Kets keep the hobby rolling!

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    I personally love 1/24 over 1/25 and in my opinion the challenger kit is the best for accuracy in how the body looks the new revell kit is just bad. But that's just me . By the way does anyone know where to get 1/24 challenger rt strips? I'm wanting to build a ta kit in to a rt . I know I can get a resin rt hood from harts parts but can't find decals. Thank for any help

    So, you said that the RR's interior can be fitted in the Superbird. But can it be fitted in the GTX? And can the GTX interior be fitted in the Road Runner? This is something I always had wondered, but I had been told that it was impossible to swap the GTX's interior in the RR and the RR's interior in the GTX.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      You know. I will pull out the kits and check. I think it will still fit and think it’s because of the back window but you have to swap the package tray for the Superbird.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      Just checked them both out. You can take the Revell 70 Roadrunner 1/24 interior and swap it right in the Monogram 70 1/24 GTX. Both bodies are the same on the inside and all the mounting points are the same. No mods would need to be done as they are both from the same tooling but the Roadrunner Bench seat would not be correct in the GTX.

    • @chassegallerie2910
      @chassegallerie2910 Před 3 lety

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler Thanks for the answer. Yes, the bench seat wouldn't be correct, however, for people that want to make custom such interior switch would be pretty good 'cuz if I recall, the rear seat in the RR is not molded with the base interior.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      Ok cool. The rear seat is molded in with the floor and package tray. Door panels are separate and make cutting out the rear seat easier.

  • @Dartman6
    @Dartman6 Před rokem

    Just finished the original release of the Monogram Superbird kit. It would be good if the model companies would research the paint treatment used by the factory instead of recommending the generic flat black on the underside of the car. Mopars never had flat black undersides. The bottom of the car is first sprayed with medium grey primer then body colour overspray. Even a complete coat of body colour is much more accurate than flat black.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před rokem

      Nice. That's a fun kit and pretty easy to build. I like it but it is far from perfect. I know a few model kits actually went that far with the directions, but most modelers don't care. Only a small percentage really go to that extent. I rarely do but I like the over restored took but only do it on model kits that have a very nice chassis. It is my opinion that these kits are lacking that. Missing shocks, molded in exhaust, inaccurate engine comp and little detail on the engine itself. I just really enjoy building these and they look great when done. So, I don't worry about the details. I didn't know that stuff when I first built them and loved them. That is what I remember, and I just want to have fun building the kits. That is what I like to preach and not so much the accuracy.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler I get what you're saying, but to me it's a small piece of info that makes a big difference.
