1970 Plymouth Road Runner 383 in Lemon Twist Yellow & Engine Start - My Car Story with Lou Costabile

- On "My Car Story" we're in Belvidere, IL on 7-23-16 at the 26th Annual Belvidere MOPAR Happening Swap Meet and Car Show.
We're looking at a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner with a 383 engine, Hurst Pistol Grip 4 Speed Shifter, in Lemon Twist Yellow Paint.
We’re talking with the Owners of this car Brian & Pat Kelly. Brian shares he had the car for 6 years, and Pat shares the real reason is to get that feeling back from his days back in High School.
Brian shares when he purchased the car it was “Rattle Canned” (painted with a spray can), so he had advice from his Buddy and a Restoration Shop to get this car to look like it does today. This car will turn heads all day long.

In the spring of 1970 the local shopping centre had new cars place around the main walking area . They were from several Companies and it was to draw people in for the weekend .
I was looking at a few and then as I walked a bit more i saw the rear of a 1970 Roadrunner. It was a deep brown metallic and as I got closer I could see the slotted rims with the trim ring and wide tires with white lettering. The inside was black with the Pistol grip shift and the glass was tinted . Then I saw the dust swirl trail going up to the front fender where the roadrunner decal was.
It had the black stripe hood decal and the car looked mean from the front with the wide stance. I was too young to drive one or buy one, but I remember the annual Auto displays at the Exhibition each August and being taken to the GM Futurama tour for cars of tomorrow .

I had one. long story a friend of mine wanted for us to gent a gutted out Mustang we went to se it . he opened the garage door and the it was the ass end of a Roadrunner I bailed out of the Mustang and bought the Roadrunner, friendship was done. It cost me 1500$ but I just started Trucking and let it go
How long did you have that one?
I had it for two yrs did not drive it a lot. I started driving trucks, highway, and was gone for months. The guy that I bought it off put an electric fuel pump and the carb would catch fire now and again. Also it would not shift into reverse because the bell hosing was cracked. All in all I still loved the beauty of this car, very under rated. I can go on, smell, sound looks and for 1500$. I am very much older now and would like to have one again but 30000$ is to rich for my blood. I will just have to watch youtube to see them again. LOL

the only car nicer than a 70 runner is a 70 gtx. they are all beautiful.
