1969 Chevelle SS396 1:25 Scale Revell 85-4492 -Model Kit Build & Review. Build and photos by Daniel Gay for RoR. Copyright 2021 Right On Replicas, LLC. All rights reserved.
Just to be clear, the 69 Chevelle was 3rd gen. 64, 65 was 1st gen, 66, 65, 67 2nd gen with the 68 starting the 3rd gen. Looks to be a great kit , thanks for the review !
Thanks. My brother's favorite car was the Chevelle so I wanted to build one...never done a model before so this aught to be interesting. I opened it up tonight and realized I had no idea what colors I needed for the engine. Thank you SOOOO much for your detailed description. I'm sure this will help a bunch!....now for more paint!

Doug that is an incredible Chevelle build! I can't get over the amazing detail and updated parts, I was really impressed by that molded in thermostat housing! I have yet to see any model car or truck kit with an actual thermostat housing! That metallic brown is beautiful! Thanks for sharing Sir!
Thanks Doug great review and build.subbed of course only subbed to your channel and hipguys workshop.you and Chris do a great job promoting the hobby . Might add that there are a lot of guys and gals building great models on the tube. You and Chris are my favorites. Peace
GRN, Thanks for the info. Yes, the engines were rarely made at the assembly plant location! PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
AN, They are pretty close to factory stock size but you could replace them with aftermarket tires. It's a nice clean build! Thanks for watching and if you like what you see please subscribe, if you haven't already, to help us inspire more modelers! -Doug
The first ever muscle car was not the 63 GTO but it was the impala ss from 1961, a lot of people agree and disagree but the impala ss was the first car to start the muscle car movement.
@grncoup if that’s the case it shouldn’t have chrome valve covers then chrome valve covers were on the 350hp with a painted cast iron intake and with the 375hp withe the aluminum intake

Unusual color but looks good. These newer Revell kits are really good compared to some of the older ones.
WH, Yes the new tool Revell kits are a big improvement! -Doug

TE, That is a nice color, even on a model! -Doug

I had a 69 SS396 in high school, it was Lemans blue with white interior. Incredibly the owner before me replaced the 4 speed with TH400.
SF, Whoa, now that's a big swap! PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug

I'm thinking of getting this kit. I just hate those narrow sausage tires that come with the Revell muscle car kits.

I'm loving the color choice here, Doug! Is this the color that's also called "Root beer" in some circles?
David, I've heard that before too! PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug

The intake on a SS396 375HP is supposed to be aluminum
Lee, Thanks for the info! -Doug
GRN, Thanks for the clarification! -Doug

Looks good, but not a brown fan, l gotta build one in hugger orange, I had a 69 in my 20s in puke green, rusty, no power after a year and just died.
Gary, Sounds good, try one you'll like it! PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug

DMG, Thanks! Will do! -Doug
Not trying to be rude but you said the 63 go started the muscle car thing... There was no go in 63. 64 was the first year.
DS, I think it was a '64 introduced in '63. Thanks for the info! PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
