Hears hoping the learn from these kits' success and offer a '70 340 someday. I know that for myself it would spawn a whole new wave of kitbashing and alternate builds.

    You're correct in saying we can't tell the difference to the 383 and 440 engines in scale.
    Trivia time: What is the easiest way to know a 383 from a 440?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety +1

      A 440 would have a 2x3 inch ID pad right next to the distributor. 383 does not. Well the B engine 383 anyways. Don't forget Mopar did make a RB 383 (59-60 only) before they made the 413/426/440!

    • @Bob0sModelFabWorx
      @Bob0sModelFabWorx Před 3 lety

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler. You're only part correct. Both engines have the stamp pad. B engines, (361, 383, 400), have them by the distributor. RB engines, (413, 426, 440), have the stamp pad in front of the lifter valley by the drivers side head.
      So the easiest way to tell if you have a B or RB block is where the stamp pad is. With the detail that 3D printing can do now, adding that to 3D printed blocks would be one detail that would make a model Mopar stand out. lol

    I have one of the Hemi Dart kits currently on the way, will be using the body for a 1/24 slot drag car build. Planning on making it look more like a street version modded for the drag strip old school style with all the street emblems and trim including the tail stripe but probably utilize the 6 pack style hood. Have not decided yet whether to cut out the wheel wells or do it more of a pro street look with the tires tucked inside the stock wheel wells.
    Should make a nice looking ride. Also going to do a '71 Duster as well.
    Your completed models are really nice, great looking work.

    The '69 Dart was one of the most requested kits we ever had at Revell. However, the kit didn't sell all that well, so the tooling was changed to make it a '68, which is why the '69 was never reissued. Product Development team manager, the late Bill Lastovich chose the image for the box cover and some folks thought the tan car wasn't exciting enough and it may have hurt sales. I always thought it was a nice looking box top. I actually took the photo of the Mr. Norm '68 Dart from a car I found somewhere down in Arkansas, I believe. I asked the car owner to suggest a nice backdrop for the photo and he drove us down to a river in the area and that's where I shot the pic. I must have taken 20 rolls of film taking photos of his car to bring back to the engineering department.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před 3 lety

      Thank you Dean for that info! That is good to know. The 68 GSS is a very rare car with only 48 made and Dodge made 6 of the 68 440 GTS. Both of those combined and qualified the min 50 (440 GTS) for drag racing. Then came the 68 Hemi Darts and 68 Hemi Barracudas. The Hemi Darts I'm sure were a hit with Revell and I'm sure if a 68 Hemi Barracuda were to come out it would also be a hit as they are both Legends! Much Like the 64 Thunderbolts that must have sold well for Revell and keep getting reissued!

    • @deanguy66
      @deanguy66 Před 3 lety +1

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler Yes, the '64 T-Bolt always sold well. In fact, I chose it as the car to go with the Taco Bell diorama I had designed, but unfortunately Taco Bell never bothered to return the signed contract, so that version of the kit never came out. facebook.com/photo?fbid=10221485534380205&set=a.10221485495299228

    Your builds are amazing! Glad I found your channel. Personally I am not a fan of big block Darts after having driven a 1:1. Kind of overkill, especially that 383 lump of low HP iron. I wish Revell would circle back over these kits and give us a 340 4 speed version. If I had a time machine, that is what I would travel back and buy in 1:1. Would be amazing if they updated to a 1970 kit as well.
