I think the Crock Pot was single handedly the most amazing invention!! I think my Mom had that cookbook!! I remember my Parents having Fondue parties in the late 70's So fun!! I remember my Grandma always using that packet of dried spaghetti sauce mix. I would totally love this!
I love hearing all your memories! In about a month, I'll be doing the full history of the crock pot. You're going to love it! Have a wonderful weekend my friend!
I love watching videos like this! So many memories! For us when it came to cheese it was only extra sharp cheddar. I remember my parents making a dish similar to this. I’ll have to ask them their recipe. Thank you for sharing Jill! Fun memories
I absolutely love that your parents made something similar! And you know how much I love that some memories came back for you! I would be happy to hear if this is the one!
I love my Crockpot so much…I have 3!
My mom had that same crock pot cookbook, we ate a lot of crock pot beef stew thickened with tapioca served with Bisquick drop biscuits growing up --- I wonder if her stew recipe was from that book.
This was such a popular cookbook and I love that she had it! There are a few delicious stew recipes in there so you just never know!
Hi, I was around in the 70s and entertained often with friends and we loved sitting around the table with a fondue pot. So much fun! Thanks for sharing this one. Until next time….Hugs, Dolores 🥰
Hi Dolores! This is just so fabulous and I love that you and your friends sat around the fondue pot! I think it's one of the most wonderful company experiences! Hugs!
We've missed you Jill! We've been on the road a lot for work and our ability to watch as often as we would like is being diminished. I haven't had fondue in YEARS and years, but I always enjoyed it. Now I would want my own personal fondue so no one would share mine LOL.
Lol! Nothing wrong with all the fondue! I remember traveling well! I hope you both get some down time soon!
We thought we'd seen, (and tasted), every kind of fondue on the planet. But this is new to us; and it sure looks good. Well done Jill!
Well then my mission for today is complete! I love to share things that no one has seen before it and this dish is just spectacular! Sending you both a ton of love!
Ain’t nothing like Crockpot recipes, so amazing and so is that Fondue Italiano!!! Looks cheesy and delicious my Soul Sista!!!
Oh it is my soul sista!
My sister used two crock pots and a rice cooker for one of my parties to make faux pho... It was a whole party of ppl cooking there thin sliced meats veg... I made her the soup base with homemade gochujang...it was so good... She also used them when canning jam... Crock pots are super versatile
OMG that would be a party I'd love to be at! I love Pho and really? Homemade gochujang? That's awesome! What a great sister you have Jessica!
What a glorious dish Jill and one I have never seen before it's almost like fusion food from the 70's LOL I Love it!!!!!
Patrick! Total fusion and just delicious!!
I didn’t have the cookbook…. But I had the crockpot on the cover! That dip looks marvelous!
How cool! He definitely had yourself a classic! And it is marvelous! Easy and marvelous! Have a wonderful weekend Harry!
What!! Jill, I love it! Fondue Italiano with all of that cheese!! How delicious must that be??? That book looks so familiar! I didn't catch it if u said u made something from this book before but I feel like I have seen that book! Great stuff using the crockpot. Easy, quick, and only one pot means easier clean up lol! Take care Jill love you! Cheers! 🥂💞😎
Hi Charlene! This is so good! I actually have one more coming from this book in about a month! Equally as fun! Love you guys!
Powdered spaghetti sauce -- that brings back the memories. Thanks for the delish looking recipe.
Hi Audrey! Isn't it a blast from the past! When I came across this recipe I just had to make it and it really is delicious. I always make my spaghetti sauce from scratch but with this recipe you just have to go with the packet!
Hi Jill....I have two crockpots, one tall one and one oval exactly like yours here. I use either of mine a lot during the winter months, especially the oval because two small chickens fit perfectly into it, cavities facing each other. The taller one makes chili quite a few times over a Cdn winter, and is a perfect tureen for a lunchtime soup and sandwich party.
Hi Heather! Sounds like you have them down! I do have a much larger one but this one fit the recipe perfectly. And how great are they? I love your chicken tips. They would fit perfectly wouldn't they? I'll get into the more Crock-Pot history and it episode coming your way in about a month!
hi There! i bought my mom a crockpot in 1973 for christmas, my mom had that book.
Hi Tim! Hope you're feeling better! I cannot begin to tell you how much I love that! This could book happens to be one of my all-time favorites! Take care of my friend!
Love it ❤👍
Jill, I’m always happy to see a new video from you! It’s an unexpected visit from a friend plus food - what could be better? Would love to see you do an episode on the Betty Crocker recipe file. That gadget is pure nostalgia. Love you my friend ❤️
Rose you are absolutely beautiful! And you always make me smile! I'm happy to pay you a visit every Friday with food! That Betty Crocker recipe file is a whole different animal. But one day I may surprise you!!
Fon do! Fun wit you! 🌷🌷👍
We had this book when I was a kid. Don't remember her necessarily making this dish, but they did like doing fondue for their card parties. I would toast the bread cubes slightly, don't like mushy bread.
Toast away! The French bread I had stood up beautifully but I'm always a fan of adding your own twist to the recipes!
Good evening Jill, this looks easy and delicious ! 😋👍😎👍❤️😁. Have a good weekend ! 🍸 the day after was my B-day so I had a drink for you and me 🍹🍸 Cheers ! 😁
Happy birthday Cheryl! I will be sure to toast you the next time I have a martini which will not be too far from now! 🍸❤️
I have a first edition of that book, and also a copy of crepe cookery. Delicious looking concoction. I'm betting it would make a marvelous pasta sauce as well!
Suggestion for you, how about a recipe or three from Peg Bracken's "I hate to cook" books. Not only does she have some great time saving recipes therein, but the books are hysterical!
Hi buck! I love that you have the first edition! I remember seeing the creep book as a child but it never made it to me. I may have to go find it in addition to the cook books you've mentioned. You know I love me things! Thank you!
Thanks!
Earnest T! You are so generous! Thank you so much for your support!
My pappy said only support good things and your channel is wonderful!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
oh man.. i learned to use a crockpot with one of those vintage 70s models.. my stepmom at the time had the very fashionably tacky yellow ones with the same deep brown ceramic insert.. sadly it burnt out around 2006-8ish
Hi Rion! I love the vintage 70s models! How lucky were you! Even though it didn't last. :( But that was quite a run!
Yo. My mom still uses the spaghetti seasoning packet and it is awesome!
Hi Crystal! No way! I can't tell you how much I love to hear that! Way to support the past!
I will be trying this recipe, it looks delicious.
I hope you do Earnest T! It's really fun and really delicious!
I'm reading the comments.
You've got Great followers Jill!
Hi Bill! I sure do! And I am so beyond grateful for everyone, including you!
@@yesterkitchen Thanks Jill!😘
This looks really interesting - I grew up in the 80s and 90s and my mother loathed fondue so it's a bit of an obsession with me! That said, I've never heard of spaghetti sauce mix (had to look it up and OMG - the prices here are crazy $76 for 24 packets! Eek lol) . These kind of packets maybe weren't a thing in Canadian shops, or I may have somehow missed them growing up.
Mix up your own italian sauce
Tomato sauce small can tomato paste oregano salt table spoon of sugar 1/3 cup red wine .. some basil and simmer 2 hours
Hi Kate! These packets have been around forever and are very popular here in the states in the spice aisle. You can find them in with the other gravy mixes, Etc. I've never actually looked online cuz they're pretty available here but wow, that is quite a bit! If you happen to find one in any Market, I hope you try this! This seasoning packet is not something I would use if I was making spaghetti sauce but it is classic 70s an integral part of the dish. Just something about the spices they had in there that makes you smile.
@@yesterkitchen I checked Walmart grocery because they're an American company and may have these packets and they did have gravy mix (several kinds! I'm now irritated that I've always made from scratch. There was even canned gravy - wtf? lol) And Alfredo sauce mix (I'm not sure I want to know about that one) but no spaghetti sauce mix. I'll have to check Safeway (I think they're in the US market too, and they sometimes get American food brands in stock) and just keep my eyes open. The packets I saw were a couple of dollars a pop, which is much more doable than what I've found online. Now I'm detertermined to track this stuff down and do up this recipe!
Ps…I have that cookbook! It was my moms!
Hi Jen! I love that you have three! You need the right size, right? LOL! And I love that you have the same cookbook. I think it's absolutely glorious and this one was in my home growing up as well!
I've got that cookbook. This is getting embarrassing!
LOL! I think it's absolutely fabulous! Now I know you have one wonderful collection!
2nd!
This looks dynamite. I could be wrong, but I think this would be excellent over noodles as well.
I think it would John! It is definitely on the thicker side since it's a fondue but it's pretty darn good!
