For those who don't know the backstory:
Lampard came through the West Ham academy. His dad was an influential figure there and the team was managed by his uncle Harry Redknapp.
All of the football brains at West Ham identified Frank as a talent and one for the future but unfortunately, a group of West Ham fan accused his dad and uncle using their influences to put Frank in the main team ahead of Scott Canham and gave Frank, his dad and his uncle a lot of stick. So Frank left the club in the end.
Watch Harry Redknapp press conference to get some idea. It is brilliant. search 'Fan tells Redknapp: Scott Canham better than Lampard'
Extra Cover - Yup & that is why Fans will always be fans and not managers! This is why I prefer to trust Conte when he makes decisions on Musonda, Kenedy etc. Pogba started playing for Juventus when he was 19, Christensen(21) is now a regular player. Bakayoko(22) too is being preferred over Drinkwater(a little unfair though). However, my point is justified. Conte does give chance to young players but only when he knows for sure they're ready.
Personally, I love Musonda and think he's more than ready - but if our manager think otherwise - we should respect that and realize he knows better.
After Harry Redknapp and Lampard Snr were sacked, it left young Frank in limbo. West Ham also needed the funds to help pay off their new Main Stand. To think, they thought they'd got a great deal with the £11m transfer fee. Turned out to be a tremendous bit of business for Chelsea.
@Ryan W exactly
Serves the hammer just right
Imagine: West Ham had Michael Carrick, Joe Cole & Frank Lampard in the same midfield (with Rio Ferdinand behind them) and fans still complaining.....even as an LFC fan we had to wait years between Macca, Fowler, Carra, Owen and Gerrard. Losing Redknapp & F.L. Snr more or less killed off West Ham as a top flight threat.
Never agreed with the stick that young Frank got (and still gets). Met him when we was 16, what a great bloke, I'm glad he went on to be so successful.
Did it for your rivals. 😂😂

I am a typical West Ham with common sense and decency. We followed them all over the country late 70s early eighties, Franks Dad was one of my favourite players, he was brilliant and totally looked over by the England set up. It was disgraceful, now Frank Junior was also an amazing player and a total gentleman as was his Dad. If I hear anyone slagging him off, I give them the old brains of a rocking horse jibe. Good luck frank. To me your an absolute credit mate ⚒⚒
I went to the same school as Frank senior, had and still have the utmost respect for him and Frank junior. I can’t always understand football fans, let alone West Ham fans, even though I’m one.
man utd fan but massive respect for frank lampard
yes great respect
S_ Hussain4646 - why though? We had very successful central midfielders.. the way some people go on it’s like United needed to sign every good player and every half decent player to have played the game 🤦♂️

Let's not feed the trolls or the haters here. I mean if anyone says Mr ABCD is better than Lampard don't reply to them saying they are wrong it only encourages them to bash the Super Frank. I'm a big fan of Gerrard, Lamps and Scholes but I don't need to know if he is better or worse than them.
It is the same with Messi and Ronaldo situation. I don't care who is better. I am just happy that they both exist this time and age and keeps on entertaining us every week.
But Lamps better than Gerrard tho
That reminds me of what Zlatan said (altough I don't know he truly said this or not) : "If Gerrard and Lampard were in the same team, no one would say that Xavi and Iniesta are the best duo in the world"
Doesn't matter who was better, gerrard, scholes, lampard, they were all too good for West Ham. If they had treated lampard well he could have spent his whole career there. Fans get what they desreve, and West Ham deserved Scott Canham.
@@moh.adipramudiono9467 Nobody ever said that
@@jamaton no way a player of Lampard's caliber would have stayed in that team forever. All the big english teams would have pursued him.

I am a West Ham fan and I have always respected Frank Lampard as a player and a person Lampard was one of the most decorated footballers of all time a sensational midfielder
As a West Ham supporter I loved the team we had back then, frank lampard, Rio Ferdinand, joe Cole, carrick, we built a good young squad back in the day
I seem to remember West Ham fans saying he was overrated and it was good money......shows what they know. Be bloody funny if they drop into the Championship with that stadium.....The Emirates in the background will look fuller.
Clem Fandango reading😂
I remember being in a pub before he left for Chelsea. A Chelsea fan was calling him overrated whenever he touched the ball.
i think theres a good chance they will go down this year
Lets put the record straight Lampard went to Chelsea when West Ham got relegated and the transfer fee was good money for West Ham at the time.He wanted to go and play Premiership football which West Ham could not offer him because they had been relegated to the championship. As everyone knows he went on to be a top player and respect to him for that, he proved a lot of people wrong. As for us dropping into the championship now ? I dont think so Muppet !!
Clem Fandango West Ham fans preferred scott canham
Leaving West ham was rio's and Frank's best decision.

As an arsenal fan, back in the day, i used to hate lampard and drogba. They were sooo good lool.

And then the club did him dirty
I was always impressed by somethig people don't talk about with Lampard, he had a great work ethic and Steel on the Pitch.
Who’s here after the lose 3-2 west ham vs Chelsea?
Love how much respect Rio has for Frank. Legends of the English game
Lots of time for all three players in this clip. Wish Lampard well at Everton, even though he clearly has his work cut out. Keown was terrific, hard as nails, but also modest and down to earth. Rio Ferdinand is both one of the best players and the most incisive pundits this country has produced in a long time. Every time he makes a remark or an assessment, it is measured, considered, balanced and well argued. He is superb, to put it mildly.

Frank Lampards father was good freinds with my uncle. My uncle fitted carpets for Frank Lampard snr in the 80's and 90's and they became good mates. He used to give my uncle tickets to matches. It's a shame how some West Ham fans treated Lampard Jnr even though he had the last laugh and is a bigger legend than the whole of West Ham FC.
I get so confused when I hear Lampard get the violin out about West Ham fans. He was adored at the club, we sung his name at every game, he was a hero in the East End. Me and all my mates used to pretend we was him in the park.
Agreed. Total bollocks that he was getting rough treatment from the majority of the fans, they had his back. A small section of the crowd gave him stick which must happen to virtually every player at every club and with Frank that’s been blown out of all proportion because his dad was a club legend.
There is a missing season here, from the point of Frank being a youth player and not doing anything amazing when he came on as a sub, cue the abuse, to him playing well and scoring 10 goals which for a West Ham midfielder was unheard of back then, I was gutted to lose Frank when he went to Chelsea but have to admit I did not see him having the career he eventually had, but the key was the West Ham manager getting sacked, not the fans who pushed him out, I am sure West Ham got knocked out of the FA cup by a non-league team that same season.
Fan tells Redknapp: Scott Canham better than Lampard - check it out that explains a lot ;)
jivkogg Some people don't have a clue. Chelsea do the same Lukaku and De Bruyne spring to mind so it is a bit rich people coming on here spouting off. I always thought he was a good player, we just had a selling club at the time.
As a West Ham fan, I can’t believe some of our fans did that to Frank.
You’d think he’d be everything a West Ham fan would dream of - local lad, boyhood fan, comes through the academy, dad is also a West Ham legend.
But, on the whole, I think we have amazing fans, the best in the world IMO.
We had 7,000 fans watch our U18 team win the FA Cup last week against Arsenal, at the Emirates - and there were barely any Arsenal fans there at their own stadium.
We would’ve sold more than 7,000, but that’s the maximum the FA allows at youth games for some bizarre reason.
We have the 2nd highest average home attendance behind Man United in the Prem and we always pack our away stands.
But I guess every fan base has some deluded idiots and West Ham is no exception - it’s a shame they got to Frank and it affected him.
But as Rio said, maybe it made him in to Chelsea’s best ever player.
I’m just gutted we didn’t hang on to and nurture those academy players long in to their senior careers - Rio, Frank, Joe Cole, Carrick, Defoe. Such a waste.
Hopefully we’ve learned our lesson for this new golden generation.
I met Martin Keown at Wembley stadium once,I looked at him he looked at me and I KNEW that this would have been a very difficult player to play against....

I used hate him how good he was and now i see him as legend thanks for the wonder full memory.
Why do they hate him so much for leaving if they didn’t even like him when he was there?
I grew up in East London, and I'm West Ham through and through. What many people don't understand is where we're from. Calling each c*nts is a term of endearment. So absolutely roasting each other in the harshest way is completely normal and funny to us.
Few clubs can boast a more loathsome set of supporters, Leeds and Milwall are the other primary contenders.
After their rioting, racism, robbing their own @ Athens in 2007, and smashing up opposition coaches surely Liverpool fans should top that list?
West Ham fans are the worst of the worst.
mike joyce compared to who or what?
I'm guessing other fans, but I disagree the worst fans in my eyes are people that support teams that always win silverware and mock fans of teams that win nothing, because supporting a football club shouldn't be about how successful that club is.
