For those who don't know the backstory:
Lampard came through the West Ham academy. His dad was an influential figure there and the team was managed by his uncle Harry Redknapp.
All of the football brains at West Ham identified Frank as a talent and one for the future but unfortunately, a group of West Ham fan accused his dad and uncle using their influences to put Frank in the main team ahead of Scott Canham and gave Frank, his dad and his uncle a lot of stick. So Frank left the club in the end.
Watch Harry Redknapp press conference to get some idea. It is brilliant. search 'Fan tells Redknapp: Scott Canham better than Lampard'

Extra Cover - Yup & that is why Fans will always be fans and not managers! This is why I prefer to trust Conte when he makes decisions on Musonda, Kenedy etc. Pogba started playing for Juventus when he was 19, Christensen(21) is now a regular player. Bakayoko(22) too is being preferred over Drinkwater(a little unfair though). However, my point is justified. Conte does give chance to young players but only when he knows for sure they're ready.
Personally, I love Musonda and think he's more than ready - but if our manager think otherwise - we should respect that and realize he knows better.

    • @chelseacharger

After Harry Redknapp and Lampard Snr were sacked, it left young Frank in limbo. West Ham also needed the funds to help pay off their new Main Stand. To think, they thought they'd got a great deal with the £11m transfer fee. Turned out to be a tremendous bit of business for Chelsea.

Losing Redknapp & F.L. Snr more or less killed off West Ham as a top flight threat.

Rio Ferdinand is both one of the best players and the most incisive pundits this country has produced in a long time. There is a missing season here, from the point of Frank being a youth player and not doing anything amazing when he came on as a sub, cue the abuse, to him playing well and scoring 10 goals which for a West Ham midfielder was unheard of back then, I was gutted to lose Frank when he went to Chelsea but have to admit I did not see him having the career he eventually had, but the key was the West Ham manager getting sacked, not the fans who pushed him out, I am sure West Ham got knocked out of the FA cup by a non-league team that same season.

  • @human777
    @human777 Před rokem +2

As a West Ham fan, I can’t believe some of our fans did that to Frank.
You’d think he’d be everything a West Ham fan would dream of - local lad, boyhood fan, comes through the academy, dad is also a West Ham legend.
But, on the whole, I think we have amazing fans, the best in the world IMO.
We had 7,000 fans watch our U18 team win the FA Cup last week against Arsenal, at the Emirates - and there were barely any Arsenal fans there at their own stadium.
We would’ve sold more than 7,000, but that’s the maximum the FA allows at youth games for some bizarre reason.
We have the 2nd highest average home attendance behind Man United in the Prem and we always pack our away stands.
But I guess every fan base has some deluded idiots and West Ham is no exception - it’s a shame they got to Frank and it affected him.
But as Rio said, maybe it made him in to Chelsea’s best ever player.
I’m just gutted we didn’t hang on to and nurture those academy players long in to their senior careers - Rio, Frank, Joe Cole, Carrick, Defoe. Such a waste.
Hopefully we’ve learned our lesson for this new golden generation.

I grew up in East London, and I'm West Ham through and through. What many people don't understand is where we're from. Calling each c*nts is a term of endearment. So absolutely roasting each other in the harshest way is completely normal and funny to us.
