- • Frank Lampard debut: H... for Frank Lampard after his first team debut
Fan tells Redknapp: Scott Canham better than Lampard: For full coverage of this event go to • Harry Redknapp savages...
The venue is a Fans Forum in East London back in 1996. Frank Lampard was just 18 years old. Harry Redknapp was his manager at West Ham United. And the Hammers boss was adamant that Frank would go to the very top when a disgruntled fan told him Lampard was not as good at Scott Canham or Matt Holland.
"I did not want to say this in front of him. But he will go right to the very top. Right to the very top," insisted Redknapp.
"There ain't no doubt about that in my opinion. Because he's got everything that's needed to become a top class midfield player. His attitude is first class. he's got strength. He can play. he can pass it. And he can score goals."
When challenged by the fan who criticised him for letting Scot Canham and Matt Holland leave the club, Harry repeated his conviction when he said: "I'm telling you I couldn't feel more strong how I feel about him."
While Lampard looked on embarrassed by the criticism, chief executive Peter Storrie weighed in to support his manager saying: "It's not just Harry's opinion. I don't know if many of you knew but during the European champions in the summer England decided to take several young players from all over the country to various training sessions. When terry Venables came to the ground to speak to Harry and I not too long ago, he said there were two outstanding youngsters of all the ones he had. That was Frank and Rio (Ferdinand). "

What type of fan criticises a 17 year old player for their own club anyway, especially right in front of him
Smileyfaceanimations there was a lot of bitterness at the time cause frank was harry nephew people thought he was getting favouritism
West Ham fans
Lampard is a few years older than me but as a kid growing up in East London, I knew of Lampard in the youth set-up and used to watch him, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand amongst others and knew just like Harry that Frank Lampard and Joe Cole would become top players I couldn't see it in Rio at the time but he went to do amazing things too. Frank's shooting low and hard was what captured me cos my dad always taught me that and Frank had mastered it.
This was the making of Frank.

I don't know, im still not convinced about this Lampard kid. Scott Canham is definitely the future.

I love Harry Redknapp for this . I'm an Arsenal fan . But sticking up for a young kid like that is unbelievable . And how right was he . What a career he's had . For me he's ahead of Gerrard and scholes just for the amount of goals hes scored . Any midfelder he scored that many goals and has that many assists is number one on the team sheet . Goals win games and it's the hardest thing to do on the football pitch .
I was with you until you put him ahead of Scholes and Gerrard. I'm a United supporter and think they were all outstanding players but I wouldn't put Frank ahead of them, as fantastic as he was.
The greatest unknown for Lampard I feel is that 'ghost goal' against Germany. If that goal had counted, and England had went onto win the game, I think his legacy would have increased a hell of a lot.
Scholes is ahead of both and don’t forget Keane was the best of the lot in my opinion…

What Harry knew probably before Frank knew himself, that he had the character and work ethic to make it. This was probably the first time Frank had heard his uncle praise him in this manor.
Great comments and thanks for making them. Most hammers fans did not truly appreciate what they’d lost until Frank Lampard Jnr was gone. JG
FAN: Personally I don't think he's good enough!"
FRANK: Hold my beer....
R.I.P to that guy and his Opinion😂
Harry wasn't wrong was he.
Tbh Majority of westham fans could see what a great player lampard jnr was & with loads of potential to become one of the best.
It was only a small group of fans who gave lampard stick but in a small stadium everyone could hear the chants .
I'm westham & I'm glad he achieved everything he did at cfc.
I like the way Harry Redknapp never once put the man’s opinion down he spoke professionally and predicted all 3 players careers to a tee Holland did bounce back and had a decent career himself
terry venables well knew his stuff the 2 youngsters that impressed him were frank lampard and Rio ferdinand.
Fan: I dont think frank is good enough
16 years later ..
Frank: hold my record of the most scoring midfielder of all time ...
What does "hold my record" mean ? You mong
@@bensmith5288 it's a metaphor.
thanks for recommending this video again, now I've seen it two hundred times/ cheers tube
" Personally I don't think he's quite good enough "
Super Frankie Lampard trophies and goals later " And I took it personally "
Lmao I bet that poor bastard feels awful now
Bet that poor bastard has hit the bucket.
If he's still alive
He just dont know his football 😎
who is he? a pundit?
Imagine being Frank in that situation. He has such a strong mentality. My personal GOAT
Really????
@@johnsmith7081 yeah man I'd have him over Messi every day
Respect to Frank and Harry. Frank seemed chilled and sure of himself
I come back to this every now and then, & I’m brought to tears every time. The feeling frank must have gotten knowing that his manager thought so highly of him that he’d go out and say that to the press with no hesitation must’ve been out of this world ! We could all use the backing of someone like sir Redknapp nowadays
I think what we’re all forgetting....
He does go to reserve games...

Scott Canham retired in 2007 after playing in non-league for many years. Brentford was the last Football League club he played for.
For me, simply the greatest prediction in football history here by Harry!! What a call 🤯🤯🤯
That legend having a puff in the background... ahh i miss the old days
who agrees that Harry Redknapp is the best English-born manager England never had since Brian Clough?
Totally agree. Bankrupted Portsmouth, relegated Southampton, broke all transfer rules while managing QPR in the Championship and spent a mint.
Then broke all records in Premiership when QPR failed to win a single game away from home or even draw away from home.
yes all small clubs. at Spurs he had them playing beautiful football in the champions league
At spurs he was using a team comolli bought for him (bale, berbatov and modric were all comolli signings, and VDV was a Levy signing). He had us playing great football but made terrible decisions in the transfer market (saha and neilson) and oversaw a complete collapse in our season to allow arse to take 3rd spot.
With the team he had, we should've been looking at 2nd or 3rd and he squandered it and left us far weaker than when he took over (don't even think about talking about league positions when he took over because you'll look stupid...)
Good argument. But the job of a coach is "to get the best out the players he has available" as Joe Royle eloquently puts it.
Spurs were 4 points adrift at the bottom of the PL when he took over bit.ly/1Snu0kC
and he took them up the table and to the LC Final. That's fact.
He then took Spurs into the Champions League for the first time in their history. And finished top 4 again the following year which earned him the sack.
Spurs lost third spot and missed out on the CL place in that final year because
1. Chelsea won the CL and there was no qualification for 4th place.
2. Being linked with the England job resulted in the players letting him down because they stopped playing for a manager they thought was leaving.
Spurs are a selling club and are unlikely to ever qualify for the CL again. They only qualified when Redknapp was there because he was a top manager.
Keep hold of Harry Kane, Hugo Llori, Christian Eriksen and Mauricio Pochettino has the ability to prove me wrong!

VISIONSPORT TV I think you are spot on mate. Harry was our best manager in our premier league era, but we all thought he'd be off to coach England. Then the vultures came flying in for him. It was one of the biggest mistakes in our clubs history. But as a fan what can you do? Just support the team and hope we catch a second wind in our sails.
Personal opinion frank lampard is probably best attacking english midfielder weve seen for past 20 to 30 years and im a man utd fan
Dele alli looks promising bit he wont match franks career and gerrard was probably 85% the player frank was. Obviously scholes is best ever english cm especialy when his stats are better than xavi and pirlos
smooth grooves are you fucking broken? scholes got less assists than crouch you unyielding imbecile
Rhcbewrncjeqwfr rfrewg4 scholes better than xavi and pirlo. Read the stats you fucking numpty

What a player Frank was loved having here at City even if was at the latter end of his career. Consummate pro!
Fun game: take a shot everytime Harry's mic reverbs from saying "P"
Liverpool fan here. What a great player he was also Redknap should have been England manager
Fun fact: The guy in the crowd was an uncle of one of the other players
PoliticsRevision Edexcel probably Scott canhams lol
SUPERODDBROS it was Scott’s
Another fun fact is Harry is Frank's uncle😬😬
@@dunyamalibabakishizada7744 What is fun about that?
That isn't fun
Its unreal how mature and handles himself the questions where footballers in the mid to late 20's struggle to talk
It just goes to show how Harry was so right. He was a brilliant player and now in management is showing that he can be a brilliant manager. Chelsea's loss Everton's gain. I am so glad he is the boss of my club.Well done harry you were spot on
this didnt age well
