- Chelsea and England legend Frank Lampard recently sat down with JOE for an episode of Unfiltered. In the interview the midfielder relived a famous moment from early on in his career at a West Ham fan forum where a disgruntled fan asks whether he should be in the squad. Uncle and manager Harry Redknapp quickly jumped to his defence claiming "this boy will go right to the very top" and how right he was.

You have to give him huge credit to get through that period and beyond when he was getting pelters from the West Ham support. He did become an absolute top player. One of the very best. In his position playing as a midfielder making late runs into the box, there were not many if any who were better. Respect from a Manchester United man!
Frank, not only was that fan objectively wrong, but you turned out not only to be a great player, but to be a fantastic ambassador for the sport with your professionalism, work ethic and humility which has pressed upon millions of young kids all over the world.
And this is coming from someone who is not even a Chelsea fan!
Fair play to Redknapp he was spot on 🎯
As a West Ham supporter for more years than i would like to remember .. always thought Frank worked hard and played well . Gutted he left for Chelsea but he became a Chelsea great and an England favourite . Also a nice genuine guy not a big flash git . Shame he never returned to West Ham for his last season . Hope he gets back into football at some point . Be great if you could find the guy now who questioned his ability and see what his thoughts are now .
This clip is definitely showing its age, there's guys smoking during a press conference. What a time!
Harry was wrong to say Matt Holland wasn't good enough though.
He didn't go right to the very top though did he. Lampard is clearly a cut above Holland.
@@gilesjones3626no he’s not
@@DanielS10291 you seriously think Holland and Lampard are at the same level?
@@gilesjones3626 No. I never said that.
@@MD-ww4bh You're spot on. I'm sure Harry regrets saying that as well. He was angry and in the spur of the moment, he got it wrong. You don't say things like that about a professional trying to make his way in the game. IF he'd qualified it by saying "I don't think he's good enough to make it in THIS West Ham team" then that would have been fair enough! Just to say he's definitely not good enough, is bang out of order!!!
Interesting. Don't know how I
not seen this before.
Question does seem unnecessary given he actually there.
Mental strength - he proved them wrong
Never heard him talk about this
He’ll manage West Ham one day.
Fair enough he’s Chelsea now, but being a Hammer is forever. ✊🏾
One of the classic interviews.Harry got his prediction spot on,although even he may have been surprised by the heights Frank reached.Great player, crap manager
Yes Harry you were spot on about Frank Lampard junior.
He was quality.
Just a shame you stabbed your best mate in the back though eh.
The legend Billy Bonds ⚒️⚒️
🙌🙌🙌
Oh he believed in you Frank. My eyes are watering typing this. He never had a doubt. God bless you Harry🙌🏿
Absolute Chelsea legend 💙
West Ham fans never have had much knowledge of football.😒
That's the problem with dumb people, they believe everything they read. Now, many West Ham fans at the time actually thought Frank was a very good player.
The fact that Lampard is saying that wasn't a normal fan highlights that even more.
@@motr1912 Boo-ing him whenever he went back to Upton Park was poor show and not what you'd expect from West Ham fans. It's the kind of thing that happens regularly with classless fans like Liverpool. Michael Owen, "Judas" McManaman etc
Stupid people are ones who paint a whole group with a single brush 👍
