Best player I’ve seen at Celtic in my lifetime, doesn’t have the legend status of Larsson obviously but what a player, remember watching him warm up when I was a kid, some of the things he would do were just out of this world
His technique was so good. It’s not just his aim, but the way he controls the ball, and the ease at which he switches feet… the goalkeeper was always kept guessing right till the end. Such a technically gifted player.
This dude had some insane practice pitch goals Italy was stacked at the time but playing outside of the Serie A and having consistent rows with managers specifically Trappatoni had have been the number 1 reason he was never called up for the Italian national squad
He was quality in those times I remember when we play against man united (I think the fa cup) and he was up against Barthez (who didnt play to the whistle ) and scored against us. He always gave me Cantona vibes in his play and mannerism.
It wasn’t so much the competition but his attitude and reputation. He’d pissed off so many of the top guys in Italy like Capello for example, he left Italy because he’d burned so many bridges that’s why he came to Celtic

Crazy if you think about it. Di Canio wasn't a regular player for Italy back then, because they had Roberto Baggio, Alessandro Del Piero, Gianfranco Zola, Giuseppe Signori, and Roberto Mancini for this same position.
